@tsukune Okay I see, the way you worded it made it sound like they didn't have them at all. That makes a lot more sense.
What I said about Edward being fucked was supposed to be more of a funny thing than a complaint. But okay, weapons it is. XD
But seriously, seeing one of the most useless Final Fantasy characters try to fist fight a goblin would have been hilarious.
My bad. English isn't my native language, but thanks for pointing out my terribad wording, lol.
It can become a reality: like, he may have a harp, but it doesn't mean he knows how to utilize it to use his abilities properly...
*sees a goblin coming towards him* *looks at his harp* *thinks that it's a waste to hit it with his harp* *throws out a punch* *his fist hurts like hell, but it does its job!* ...But wait, the goblin is back on its feet. *runs away, obviously!*
...Heh.
@tsukune I'm working on a Cloud CS. The biggest problem I'm having is trying to condense his background down to a reasonable size. Could I get away with just putting a link to his wiki?
Sorry, but I have to say no. The reason why I ask for a summary is because: (1) To show your understanding of the character you're taking up, (2) To allow other players who may not be familiar with the characters you're assuming to get the gist and feel of them; the main idea is to deconstruct and rebuild the characters, not following the canon word for word, (3) Don't be lazy! Lol.
Size of the summary doesn't matter. It's the content - as long as the main, important points are there. (And...don't plagiarize!)
<Snipped quote by tsukune>
If I can request some clarification on the IC set-up, are all of our characters waking up in the same location? Are they intended to be near/adjacent to one another? In the same region but not together?
Just want to make certain I have that detail straight for my first post.
Yes, all characters should be in the same location and as close to one another as possible. It would suck if they are all at world's end, all alone with their head all muddled and confused...and then a Malboro appears right behind you with Bad Breath.
Hey there. So I'm interested in joining this, there's just the small problem of wanting to do something from FF5. Which.....is complicated as far as a sheet goes. How should I handle that?
Ah, Kain Highwind from FF4? (AirBender is playing Edward from the same game title.) For the CS, I did include a guideline just below the coded template. :)

Err, I said FF 5. Not 4. The guy below me said 5 and I'm not sure what he was hooking on to. Besides, 4 was 6 anyway, so I don't think it's an issue of confusing the Japanese for the English release or whatever.
Aaaand, I've probably made this more complicated than it needs to be. Sorry.
Though I do like Kain as a character, I just saw that we had someone from FFIV already and decided that I would do something different.
@tsukune Should I hold off on posting until tomorrow? So that other people can get their sheets up? That way we know exactly who we'll have when we start.

Hmm, I think we should wait until 2 more players finish their CS then we can begin proper. I'm hoping for a 5-member party at minimum.

Boisterous powerhouse, father of one, and Zanarkand's local blitzball star, Jecht was nothing if not well known for one reason for another. Famous for his skill as a blitzballer and notorious for his drinking habit, Jecht's life was rocky path, but one he proved to handle in some way regardless. Happily married to his wife, Jecht would come to father a son named Tidus, only to discover he was no good at parenting. When he wasn't drinking or playing in matches, Jecht would frequently criticize and berate his Tidus in the misguided hopes that he would try and grow stronger in order to disprove him. Though his brash and rough-spoken nature took prominence, Jecht did hold genuine care for his wife and son, even if he proved no good at showing it.
Of course, it all turned upside down after he departed on a ship out to sea for some personal blitzball training. His venture to further hone his trademark Jecht Shot turned into the discovery of Sin - and his subsequent abduction into the world of Spira. Unaware of the truth surrounding Sin and his own transition, Jecht was quickly locked up as a crazy drunkard with no foreseeable release. The former blitzball ace was given a second shot, however, in the form of the heathen summoner Braska, who selected the man to be one of his guardians alongside the disgraced monk Auron. Despite the latter's protests at the idea, Braska held the belief that it would be a fit of cosmic irony if such an unlikely trio could manage to complete the summoner's pilgrimage and defeat Sin. With no other option available and itching for some revenge against Sin, Jecht agreed.
Before the journey, and then along the way, Jecht shared his tales of Zanarkand as he remembered it, being the best blitzball star of his kind. His braggart personality and drunken tendencies ended up getting Braska in a lot of trouble, culminating in an incident where Jecht injured a pack animal after mistaking it for a fiend. Realizing how much damage he was causing, Jecht forcibly ended his alcoholism out of embarrassment of what he did, and in fear his family would be ashamed of him. He made recordings of the pilgrimage to his Tidus and his wife whenever he returned to Zanarkand, confident he would eventually find a way back after defeating Sin.
Time passed, and the former blitzballer gradually came to learn of Spira and the events permeating the land. Jecht made a strong effort to mature, insisting that they help people along the way because "it's the right thing to do" - a phrase that usually followed with Braska, Auron, and himself getting in trouble. Despite this, the three of them became closely fire-forged friends in spite of the world around them, and came to respect each other. Eventually, as Jecht learned the truth of Zanarkand and its fate, he came to realize and accept the he would never return to his home as he knew it, and left behind his recordings for Tidus to follow, should his son ever suffer the same fate as himself.
As Braska's journey reached an end towards the ruins of Zanarkand, Jecht willingly surrendered his life to become the summoner's Final Aeon. Knowing that he would never see his world again, Braska's guardian asked a final favor of Auron: to watch over Tidus. Though Auron knew that Sin would return as per the fated "cycle of death," Jecht was confident that he would find a way to end Sin's reincarnation once and for all.
As it had occured many times before, the cycle engaged again, and Braska's Final Aeon become possessed as the new core for Sin. However, Jecht's spirit remained prominent enough- whenever he heard the Hymn of the Fayth, a melody of prayer he subconsciously resonated with, Jecht's mind would temporarily awaken, allowing him a small medium of control over his actions as Sin. It was this very 'weakness' that allowed him to free Tidus from Zanarkand, and eventually see his defeat through.
For the first time, Sin could be pacified without the use of a Final Aeon, allowing the opportunity to expose and confront the inner workings of Sin itself- it allowed Jecht to see his son one last time before Sin, Zanarkand, and himself, were all destroyed and faded away into the afterlife.

Long Blade - Image A sword bordering on oversized with its sheer length and heft. Only an experienced fighter can wield it properly. (Initial weapon.)
Dragonslayer - Image A weapon once fit for killing a dragon. It lacks the power of other swords, but better resonates with magical abilities.
Masamune - Image A familiar weapon forged by a famous swordsmith. In spite of its size, it lunges out unerringly at foes for a preemptive strike.
Sin's Talon - Image An absolutely massive blade emblazoned with Spiran script, the last remnant of the Final Aeon. The sword's weight belies great damage, and promotes the use of Jecht's special abilities.
Triumphant Grasp Jecht charges a target and grapples it with his left hand, unleashing an explosive pulse of negative energy. Inflicts damage and makes the target unable to be healed temporarily.
Jecht Beam An energy beam that bursts into a sphere of destruction. Lacks range, but boasts a large area of effect and the chance to petrify an enemy if they are struck directly.
Ultimate Jecht Shot A variation of the trademark Blitzball technique, Jecht smashes a boulder into the air, breaks it into three pieces, then launches each piece like a cannonball into a target. The high power and speed behind this technique makes it difficult to avoid, and the use of three projectiles allows Jecht to attack several enemies at once or concentrate his fire on a single target from different angles.

Favors his right arm for sword use, with his left arm being armored.
Wears a tattoo of the Zanarkand Abes on his chest, and will typically be shirtless to show it off.
His appearance retains some aspects of his form as the Final Aeon, giving him spikes on his left shoulder and right leg in the form of armor.
Being a resident of the Dream of Zanarkand, Jecht subconsciously resounds with the Hymn of the Fayth, even if he doesn't recognize it.
VISION
For a character that is effectively absent for most of the story (his state as Sin aside), Jecht has a significant arc of character, arguably stronger than Tidus's own. Whereas Tidus was simply an ace blizball player with an unsettled grudge against his father when he entered Spira, Jecht was a man fueled strictly by alcohol and pride when he first arrived, and through the pilgrimage changed into a genuinely proud and well-meaning warrior who became best friends with his comrades. Alas, this story is hardly ever felt, only recounted through other characters and recordings. I hope to bring to the table the feeling of that Jecht, a rough-and-tough guardian who wore his heart proudly aside his boasts.

@tsukune Well, like I said, I'm actually doing a character from FFV, not FFIV, and I'm not sure how to work thar inside the haracter sheet format. Once I figure it out, I'll have something for you in a jiffy.

It's my bad for mixing your comment up with the other member below, sorry. m(_ _)m
You don't have to strictly stick to the format - you can change a few things here and there, or even add other sections/categories - but those basic stuffs on the given sheet has to be present.
May I ask which part of the sheet are you having trouble with?
May I ask which part of the sheet are you having trouble with?
Well, the biggest problem I'm having at the moment is with the Abilities section, since there is no natural progression of abilities thanks to the Job system (or default abilities for that matter). So I'm just not sure what to put down there
@Flamelord I see what you mean - unlike most other game titles, V replaces that with a job system.
If so, you can change "Abilities" to "Jobs"; for descriptions, you can choose to leave it blank for the time being if you wish to build and develop the character's skillsets in the IC first, then update the sheet accordingly. However, as there isn't any restrictions on the number of job class in the original game (in fact they can potentially master all 22 jobs), to prevent your playable character from being too "OP" compared to the rest, is it okay if I ask that you restrict the jobs to 2-3?

Ah, alright, thank you.
Yeah, I'll probably do that, if only so my character can develop into whatever niche presents itself in the group or something like that. Is it alright if I do the same for weapons as well? I have a default one to start with, but the more powerful stuff also tends to depend on whatever Job you take, so it'd be hard to pick one to work with.

No probs - and you're welcome. (This is my first attempt at being a GM for any sort of RP, so hope you can be patient with my clumsiness.)
Yes you can just go with the most basic weapon for now, and expand the weaponry later as the IC develops.

The daughter of King Alexander Highwind Tycoon, Sarisa was lost at sea as a young girl. Rather than drowning though, she was found by pirates who named her 'Faris', and who raised her as a boy for her entire life, and she served as a pirate, fighting, learning, and growing up with them, with no idea of her real heritage and birthright. Then when she was fifteen the ship she was on encountered a mysterious whirlpool. Diving in, Faris emerged with Syldra, a sea dragon whom she formed a bond with and who helped them escape. Because of this she was made Captain, with her ship able to go anywhere regardless of the winds.
Some time after the winds died, Faris found three adventurers trying to steal her ship. Capturing them, she initially considered holding Princess Lenna for ransom, but changed her mind after seeing the Princess had an identical pendant to her. Together they went to the Wind Shrine, where Faris was branded a Warrior of Light and told to protect the Crystals of the World. She agreed to do this, but was unable to stop the destruction of the Four Crystals in their world, and lost Syldra in the process, though she did gain a sister in Lenna.
Following Galuf back to his world, Faris and the others were captured, though they were soon rescued and helped to fight Exdeath, losing Galuf in the process but eventually defeating Exdeath. It didn't stop him from shattering the remaining crystals though, merging the worlds together. Returning to Tycoon she was celebrated as the Princess returned, but snuck off to help the others, avoiding getting absorbed by the Void in the process. Together they head into the Clef of Dimensions, defeat Exdeath, restore the Crystals, and return the world to peace.
While initially ruling alongside Lenna as Queen, Faris soon gave up that life and returned to being a pirate, sailing the seas and taking care of her crew.

Sarisa is a woman stuck between two worlds. On the one hand she is the Queen of Tycoon, the long lost royal with a loving sister, but it is a place where she doesn't feel comfortable and doesn't feel free. On the other hand she is a pirate, where she has grown up so long as she can remember. Yet this is the easy choice, the comfortable one, and even then she sill has to hide things from the rest of her crew (like her real gender, regardless of how androgynous she seems to be) My hope is to give her an outside perspective on her own identity, to decide the sort of person that she truly wants to be, or to try and find a middle ground between the two.

@Everyone
Anyway, now that the party is complete, application is closed - I won't be accepting anymore players, sorry.
Time to start the adventure guys! Just a quick reminder:
All characters will be close to each other in the same location.
Your character will hear two things before waking up: your Moogle's frantic voice, and also the speech by "The Voice" as stated in the opening IC post.
Your character has nothing on them except for the clothes they wear and their initial/basic weapon.
Your Moogle partner is a NPC that you'll control yourself.
Some time will be given to all players to get their bearings before the first plot hint will be PMed to a player chosen randomly.
Cloud comes from the small mountain village of Nibelheim. His father died when he was young, and he was raised by his mother. When Cloud was fourteen he learned of Sephiroth, and idolized him. Inspired to become a hero, Cloud left his hometown to join SOLDIER, but he never made it to that level. He became a Shinra infantryman, and met a first class SOLDIER named Zack. The two became friends, and infiltrated a mako excavation facility together.
At the age of sixteen, Cloud returned to his childhood town along with both Zack and Sephiroth to investigate a damaged mako reactor in the mountains. Tifa acts as their guide. Embarrassed by his lowly infantryman status, rather than being part of SOLDIER like he was aiming for, he hides his identity from Tifa by keeping his face-concealing helmet on. When the group reaches the reactor, Sephiroth discovers Professor Hojo's experiments with Jenova, returns to town and locks himself in Shinra Manor, where he learns more details of the experiments and his involvement in them. Enraged, he destroys Nebelheim, setting the town aflame, and killing Cloud's mother. Cloud confronts and defeats Sephiroth at the reactor, much to Sephiroth's surprise. Both Zack and Cloud are gravely wounded.
Professor Hojo takes the two back to Shinra Manor and makes them into experiments, injecting them with Jenova cells and exposing them to mako. They are deemed failures and left in pods for four years in the basement, when Zack eventually breaks free. He helps Cloud, who has not recovered and is in a vegetative state. After a year of running, Shinra forces catch up to them and kill Zack. Cloud is ignored. Due to the trauma, Cloud's memories are twisted, and he takes on Zack's personality, presenting himself as a former 1st class SOLDIER and mercenary for hire. He has inconsistent memories and periods of blackouts, none of which he remembers.
He joins the group AVALANCHE which ultimately leads to his pursuit of Sephiroth. During a series of adventures, he eventually regains his memories. He meets Aeris and agrees to become her bodyguard in exchange for a date. The AVALANCHE group returns to Nibelheim and discovers the town has been replaced by imposters, to cover up what Sephiroth did. Traveling to the Temple of the Ancients, the group learns of Sephiroth's plan to call Meteor, which would wound the planet, and allow him to absorb energy from the Lifestream, effectively becoming a god. Cloud attempts to attack Sephiroth, but due to the Jenova experiments done to him in the Shinra Manor, he is able to be controlled by Sephiroth. The group has to stop him. When he wakes up, he finds that Aeris is gone. The group follows her to the Forgotten Capital, just in time to see Sephiroth impale her from behind. She dies, and Cloud is crushed.
The group continues to pursue Sephiroth. Cloud ends up falling into the lifestream, where he suffers mako poisoning. Tifa stays with him while the group continues to try to stop Sephiroth and the meteor that is now coming toward the planet. The two fall into the lifestream, where Cloud comes to terms with who he really is. The group returns to the North Crater and confront Sephiroth for the "final" time. They defeat him. Cloud follows him spiritually into the lifestream and defeats him there as well. Aeris was able to cast Holy before she died, which saves the planet from the meteor.
Cloud and Tifa build a life together. He sets up a deliver business, and she runs a bar. Although happy, Cloud still has issues with his past, regrets that he can't shake. They take in an orphan, Denzel, who is suffering from a new disease: Geostigma. It's caused by Sephiroth's presence in the lifestream, polluting it. He was able to survive by a strange connection to Cloud- Cloud's memories of Sephiroth allowed his continued existence.
Cloud looks for a cure for Denzel's Geostigma, and ends up with Geostigma himself due to the Jenova cells within him. Three men gather those infected with Geostigma, hoping they will lead them to Jenova's remains. They have several run ins with Cloud, and are ultimately successful in finding Jenova. Cloud and the others are cured of Geostigma by Lifestream-infused water in the church where Aeris used to pray. The leader of the three, Kadaj, is able to merge with the Jenova remains, which brings Sephiroth back in physical form. Cloud battles him again, and nearly dies, but the thought of his friends and how important they are to him gives him the strength to win. Sephiroth disappears, leaving Kadaj in his place, who subsequently dies.
Cloud now has a better outlook on life, no longer feeling overly-guilty for Aeris's death, and cherishes the friends he has.

JOURNAL
I did it!
In my previous post above I said that I won't be accepting any more characters, but it's a jerk move to turn people away (especially since I'm in a different timezone from everyone else), so I'll make an exception to approve your CS on account that...I'm living in everyone's "near future" the wrong timezone.
Have you guys decided how you want to meet up as a group? (EDIT: Kudos to @Penultimate_Pi!) After warming up to one another (can be friendly alliance or a tense squabble, you guys can discuss how your character is going to make an impression on the others), I'll be releasing the first "clue".
You might be wondering: why isn't the GM playing a character? Well, my job is only to guide you, the players. Otherwise you are on your own, sending your characters on an uncertain journey of self-discovery...and maybe something else more. (Besides, I'm probably gonna have my hands full controlling all the NPCs...)

...Internet at my side is horrible today, so none of the sites are loading properly and in time. Sorry I missed out your IC post, Pi.
I believe that you two are the only ones left to put up your starter IC post. No hurries if you have other more pressing commitments at the moment; this is more of a mental note to myself to keep track of the posting progress.
(I do want to keep this RP stress-free to all as much as possible.)
Also, feel free to play around with coding to make your posts look nice and awesome, such as adding headings, music vids and stuffs. (If you need the FF title font the link has been provided in the 'Resource' section.)
And...don't you guys feel the OOC is too quiet? Where are all the hype for the FF7 Remake, KH3 and FF15? (Am I the only one anxious for their release?)
