Illusions and scrying... well, illusions, no. Scrying the school itself might have some defenses against, but within the school scrying might be easier.

Seeing the invisible is only if people have something that lets them do that.

Clubs would also be something that would work, or hell they could've just already bumped into each other just by chance. They'll still mostly be strangers, but introductions won't be needed.
