Bio

Hiya, AChronum here! Although I'm relatively new to rping, I have plenty of writing experience and love trying new genres and styles. I absolutely love high magic fantasy RPs and am pretty much willing to do anything so long as I can create a charaxter, not play an existing one, and develop lots and lots of backstory! I'm perfectly comfortable with all mature themes as well, although smut for smut's sake is out of the question.

Interested in an RP? Send me a PM and have a magically marvelous day!

First Day Fit

Danny couldn't contain his excitement, rocking back and forth on his heels as he soaked in the First Day energy. Lookin' fly as fuck in his favorite stained glass colored jacket (even if the black turtle neck was a little meh but the contrast was just too good to pass up!) and rockin' a sweet pair of sunglasses, Danny was feeling himself 100%. Did he cry to his parents, his uncle, Maxie and Benji, and Mamie Elie over having to leave them again? Yeah, duh. He was leaving behind some of his favorite people; wouldn't anyone cry in his shoes?

Though, to be fair, he was leaving behind some failed talent show, audition, Champions whatever behind as well. The choreography was easy enough. Thank you, a decade worth of dance classes, but the fire. It was sooooo simple at first. Fun steps, lots of energy, a little fire here and there, all into a big, fireball-y finale. Papa and him were rocking it, loving it, living it and then Pops popped in and ruined it. Now, it's all about "control" and showing the coaches and teachers more "versatility." Blah. At least Pops didn't make them cut the big fire blast at the end. Did the change up make Danny nervous? Fuck yeah it did! He knew Pops wanted him to really go for it and the routine was fun, but the fire dancing was haaaaaaaaard.

Whatever, this was killing his vibe and he wanted to have fun with his besties so bye bye auditions and hello cotton candy! Danny bounced on his toes, clapping his hands together excitedly at the prospect of delicious, multi-colored strands of sugary goodness. Danny was practically drooling but April drew him away from his stomach and into her conversation. Danny pouted at the idea of her getting a girlfriend. "No, you don't need a girlfriend right now! You 'ave us. You're gunna go 'oes before bros and we'll 'ave to com' crawling to 'er and be beggen for just a measly crumb of time with youuu!" Danny whined, hanging off her arm. "But, yeah let's do fortune tell-

Danny peered over the top of his glasses at the boy who'd suddenly crash landed into Dorian. Aw, he was so adorable with his little tousled look! Danny itched to reach out his hand to tousled his hair more but he heard Pop's voice in the back of his head how he should make sure he was okay and blah blah blah. Something about light and eyes following and maybe a finger? Danny didn't really know but he was going to be Responsible! Okay, okay, okay. No panicken. I know what to do! Danny puffed up excitedly, flicking an ember from between his fingers, creating a penny sized orb of…

The jacket was on fire. Danny screamed and failed. "OMG YOU'RE ON FIRE, YOU'RE ON FIRE. OH SHIT, I SET YOU ON FIRE. OKAY, NO ONE PANIC!" Danny screamed as he struggled to get his bag opened and pulled out the can of EZ Fire Spray his Pops and Papa insisted he carry. He shook, pointed, and sprayed until the fire went out, holding it out threateningly even once the fire was out just to be safe.

"I am so, so, so, so ,so sorry. I just wanted to do the eye t'ingie!" Danny apologized profusely, voice cracking and tears already threatening to fall. "Should we take 'im to de nurse, do you need de nurse? Oh Gods, where's Mai? Uhm, uhm, uhm. I fucken killed a freshie, oh shit." He muttered as he fumbled with his phone, pulling up Mai's number and typing out a quick message.

The Snakeburrow Woods

Evening - Overcast Skies

Esvelee tucked Eila’s bag out of sight within the red fern and patted the side of the wagon as she came around, taking Cerric’s proffered hand as she stepped up. “Alright, ladies and gentlemen and things of all kinds, we embark on your first foray into greatness! While not the stuff of legends yet, I have no doubt you’ll excel and join the ranks of adventurers known for their heroism and bravery, cunning and kindness. All heroes need their first step. I suggest you don’t falter.” Cerric offered with a grin and clapped his hands together. Esvelee shot him a strange look but snapped the reins nonetheless, jolting the horse into action and taking the cart towards the forest.

Although the first day seemed likely to rain, not a drop of water came down. The wind bit cold as the day neared its end and the skies darkened even further but the journey stayed dry into the late afternoon as the light struggled to break both cloud and foliage. The Snakeburrow woods had started to show their autumn colors and some few had already drifted to the ground, more as the wind tore through the branches. The well worn path didn’t stray from its course, barely winding through the trees as the group plodded on.

Thankfully, the first day was relatively uneventful with the exception of a panicked boar bursting onto the trail and then charging past into the undergrowth on the other side of the path. No explanation was offered for the situation as no further noise could be heard and even a cursory glance from the trail's edge offered nothing but a path of snapped twigs and gouts in the earth from the upset animal. Cerric seemed unconcerned and waved it off, keeping the group on track.

Now, as the light faded from the trail, Esvelee pulled off the side of the trail and elad the group a short distance into the woods where a clearing opened up. Clearly a well used rest area for this leg of the journey, the vegetation was mostly beaten into packed dirt through overuse and a vague wooden structure could serve as a water trough. A circle of stones around a small pit offered a little spot for fires but otherwise, the area was empty. Esvelee pulled the cart around the circle away from the road and hopped down to stretch her legs.

“Aight, so here’s the first stop. There are a bunch of these along the side of the road here since this is the only clear way through the woods. Normally, the Duke’s men patrol the routes but with most soldiers gettin’ sent up to God’s know where, they don;t have the manpower anymore.`` Esvelee sighed as she twisted out the faint ache in her back.

“Well, seems like a great time for some camp set up and watch splitting!” Cerric cheerfully stated. “If anyone needs their waterskins refilled, please leave them on the back of the cart and I’ll top ‘em off.”

@Morose

Okay I added in his medication, updated the ability, and definitely slid in one of those portable electric stoves stoves.

And it definitely makes sense James and Casper made the call to have him start a little later, good point!

Esvelee, meanwhile, chewed her lip nervously as she arranged the red fern more neatly around the pack. “Well, I suppose that’s fair enough. I guess I should just be thankful I had the Gods lookin’ out fer me then.” She laughed, nodding at Ceolfirc’s instructions. “Alright then. I’m trusting you lot.” She finished fiddling with the cargo and turned when another voice joined the conversation, she crooked her head as he introduced herself. Her eyebrows rose at the sight of his hair. “Uh, yeah, nice to meet you, Ermes.” She spoke slowly, the strangeness of the hair on his head clearly having her attention.

“Soured investments and broken contracts are the only things that offend me. I’m not certain how you’ve taken the impression that I dislike you; rather, I find you quite a fascinating prospect!” Cerric chuckled, waving away Liliann’s concerns. “And since I have no doubt you’ll be a regular fixture at the Bounty House alongside our newest addition to our little family, please take my apologies for worrying you. I did not mean any undue stress. But as for-”

Both Cerric and Esvelee looked at the newcomer as Eila struggled to catch her breath. Esvelee looked mildly concerned as Eila struggled to catch her breath, hand halfway to a water skin, but Cerric tutted loudly as he dropped off the carriage and closed the distance in a few long strides, stern disappointment written on his face. “I would recommend not. Depending on the job, this could have been the moment your transport was robbed, your ward caught an arrow to the neck, or any other number of nasty ways to fail a contract. And when you’re working as a team, your failure is their failure as well. Ms. Buckman is a kind client and technically, I’m the only one supposed to be here, but there are those who are sticklers for the rules and when the rules are broken, it means discounts and I don’t tolerate those.” He gave a reassuring pat on the head. “But, you have five days to prove you aren’t an absolute failure so please work hard! I’m looking forward to it.” He spun on his heel and marched back to the wagon.

“Now that the whole group has arrived, we should depart quickly. We’re burning daylight every second we’re standing still. Take your positions, whatever you decide what those may be, and let’s get going.” Cerric ordered as he climbed back up on the wagon.

“Last call for the wagon, lest you want to shlep your shit til sundown!” Esvelee called to the group.
James Kingston

James stared at the empty space that was once the strange amalgamation they’d become. There was a profound sense of emptiness in the aftermath of what they’d become. In the short instance they’d been one, James found his abilities amplified a million times over, felt the very pulse of existence itself. Everyone and everything connected in a single underlying principle with no regard for creed nor race nor philosophy. In that moment, nothing mattered but life and its expression, its beauty in the struggle against the harsh reality of mortality, and its continued illumination against the backdrop of darkness death strove to weave. James couldn’t face that, couldn’t have experienced first hand the world in a way mortals never truly could, and walk away the same. It was too much to handle at once, especially now as they stood amongst the crumbled aftermath of a place that had once seemed isolated from the problems of the world. But he knew now that their struggle, had they emerged victorious or not, had meaning. That they lived here once mattered. And where they would go next all had meaning in the fundamental expression of life.

The bitter-sweet nostalgia of the Underground long gone didn’t hurt quite so much now.

James didn’t have room for much more emotion than what swept through him in the aftermath of their connection. What little was left may have been given over to embarrassment if not for the sweeping relief of Casper’s return, held at bay in the face of annihilation. The tears rolled down his face as he crushed Casper in a hug, murmuring quiet apologies as he shook with the weight of guilt and relief. It took him several long minutes before he could bring himself to pull away from Casper. He sniffled, wiped away his tears, and turned to look back at the group as they started planning as the shock faded away.

He felt a twinge of sadness when he realized his journey was over but, there was joy there as well. He’d help with the evacuation but after that, Casper and James made a plan. It felt like ages ago. The Underground he knew would exist anymore but he’d keep a spot at his table for any of them if they ever needed it.

“I have a promise to keep. Didn’t think I have a chance honestly.” James let out a relieved laugh, “Guess New Orleans is happening after all, babes.”

James gaped at Casper, running up like nothing happened. He’d been dead, not even a minute ago. James had felt his life break at his feet, his heart tearing itself to shreds, it felt like his whole life had been over, and now Casper just ran up to them like he’d passed out on the field, rather than James caving his skull in. He wanted to grab Casper and fucking run, put him somewhere no one, not even James could burt him, but at the same time, he could barely bring himself to look at Casper. All he saw was his own fist in Casper’s face, the last broken plea Casper managed to get out, all the while being stuck in his own skin, unable to do anything. He couldn’t even scream.

But as Max started shouting instructions, James shook his head. He could deal with the emotions later; Casper coming back to life wouldn’t mean anything if Selene made it off the island. Max gave him his task and he frowned in response. That… was a lot of people if Max truly meant everyone. He hadn’t really tried focusing on more than one person. He’d assumed the fact that trying to sync to multiple bodies would have made him go haywire. How do you match two different people, much less those in different states of health and chemical composition, at the same time? Jesus, the adrenaline between all of them was likely to give him a heart attack trying to level it all but if that’s what Max needed, that’s what Max would get.

“Alright. Let’s finish this bullshit.” James sighed, rubbing his hands together.

“Well, well! Seems like everyone is up and at them. Guess it’s a good thing I’m not a gambling man; I’d have lost half my pouch with this many showing up!” Cerric joked before Esvelee had a chance to respond, quickly doing a headcount. “Only one down. Not bad, not bad at all. We have a bit to talk about and then we’ll be on our way. Our wayward friend may yet still have a chance.” He stepped back, a half bow to Esvelee to offer her the floor.

“Uh, alright then.” She started hesitantly, bewilderment plain on her face as she stared at Liliann’s hat. “Well, if y’all need a place to store some stuff, I got some space for a pack or two in the cart. Job’s easy enough. Papa wants the stuff safe and sound in the Wilree markets so we, uh, hired some people. You, I mean. We hired…” She frowned as she counted. “Why did we hire so many people? I’m expecting some ‘gressive wolves, maybe a bear. You’re bringin’ enough to fell a forest or somethin’. How paranoid is my pa?”

“Technically, you just hired me. These ones are apprentices, in a vaguely similar sort of way. Don’t worry; you aren’t paying any extra.” Cerric reassured her. She fixed him with a suspicious look and, apparently satisfied with whatever his half smile conveyed, shrugged and let the matter drop.

“Now, we just gotta make it to the main Wilree road and meet up with the Hanrish caravan and then y’all are good to go. Don’t suppose it’ll go too awful if we got so many bodies for the trip.” Esvelee shrugged.

“But that’s not the mindset to have when you’re being evaluated for your ability to get the job done!” Cerric interjected with a clap of his hands. “No, no, no. Even though this is just a simple escort, you have to take the job seriously and focus on reducing the threat to our poor, helpless employer. So to that end, I’ll will be gladly taking the seat next to Esvelee while you all put your strengths and skills together to ensure Ms. Buckman makes her way safely to the caravan! ”

“Okay. Well, Ceolfric and whoever else has a pack to stash, come ‘round to the back real quick and we’ll get you set up.” She waved them to the back, pushing a few small boxes around and repositioning the oil cloth wrapped plants so there was some room without crushing the product. Cerric swung up on the seat of the wagon and crooked a finger at Liliann.

“Now, did your search last night satisfy your curiosity?” Cerric asked, curiosity and something else in his eyes as his exhaustion seemed to melt off his face. “By the time I was freed up, you and Kyreth scuttered away to his room.”

As soon as Cerric was occupied with his own conversation, Esvelee raised an eyebrow at Ceolfric. “Y’all sure there ain’t anything that dangerous? There some nasty rumors whirlin’ around these parts and six people ‘stead of one showing up seems like there is a problem.”
