Here's my second character. A concept I repurposed and modified from Bleak Centauri that I didn't get to use.
Plus, I need to scratch my fujoshi itch and this character should help me to do that.
Cheers!

Due to his upbringing, Peter has a rather mystical, nurturing, and gentle disposition. A wallflower through and through, his role as a Funérailles is incredibly important to him and he has a deep appreciation and connection with life and death and feels that both are very sacred and should not be dishonoured or diminished. He is saddened by the cruelty of the world and his heart weighs heavily with the pain of others. He sometimes has a despondent countenance due to his empathy for the suffering of others (and yet, he has an ever-present wary distrust in others too because of the UDF's inhumanity). He hopes that through his role as a Funérailles, he can bring peace to people's hearts and minds.
Because Funérailles are so rare, his role is very precious to the Bellfort citizens, who admire and are grateful for the work that he does in bringing honour and repose to their deceased loved ones. Because of his role as the only Funérailles in the city, they colloquially refer to him as "The Angel of Bellfort". Despite his humble and seemingly docile nature, Peter can be notoriously stubborn when it comes to his beliefs. People often mistake Peter's soft-hearted personality for naivete, but he is deceptively keen and emotionally intelligent. However, there is something about Peter that makes everyone feel like they want to protect him.
Peter was born with a rare heart condition that no Aeon magic or doctors have yet been able to cure. Whenever he overexerts himself physically or when using his Aeon magic, his heart begins to hurt (he usually clutches his chest when he's having heart pain). The pain usually goes away in a bit after he stops doing whatever he was doing or when he stops using magic. Becoming emotionally riled up can also trigger these heart pains.

Death is a fascinating phenomenon. The one and only thing that is guaranteed in this world. It's all around us even when we may not notice it. Each day that passes, it beckons for us, sings it's siren song to drag us into the depths. And there are those in this world who come face to face with it. These people are what this world calls, Funérailles. The role of a Funérailles is a peculiar profession and those who become one don't usually live their lives hoping to be such. For most, it chose them. The Funérailles oversee and perform a cultural custom called Mer de rêves (The Sea of Dreams). The underwater burials originate from the island of Freidal, a nation isolated from the mainland, and therefore, retains its historical European-like architecture and Old World religious beliefs.
"There is nothing more honourable in this world than a proper burial."
Most Funérailles eventually leave Freidal and live their entire lives on tiny indiscriminate islands, most of which fell under UDF jurisdiction after the comet. And aside from the regular UDF research division personnel and intelligence division operatives who sentinel these small islands, a Funérailles's interactions usually only occur when people from the mainland bring them the dead bodies of their loved ones, escorted by UDF operatives of course. Upon being brought the dead, a Funérailles will perform the funeral rites or Mer de rêves on the body and bury the body at sea, along with a Mementeau, an object that represents that individual's life and dreams. And in the act of burying the body with the Mementau, that person's soul can finally find peace now that their dreams have been released to the sea.
"Freed...from the chaos..."
These underwater burials spawned from the Old World Religions of Friedal and were closely tied to the Festival of the Quiet (a festival of remembrance for deceased loved ones). They are now highly regulated by the UDF. To have a loved one's remains cast to the depths of the sea by a Funérailles continues to be a great honour and way of showing respect to the dead for citizens of Freidal Island and mainland coastal cities along Ansel Pass and the Lake of Sauraine. The UDF understands the value and significance of such a custom and only allow it to citizens who have a clean record and haven't caused any trouble for the UDF leaders. They see it as a way of controlling the masses. People are less likely to misbehave if they know they will lose this valued privilege, which to the UDF, Mer de rêves is a privilege for submission. It is much more honorable than having your loved ones body thrown into a giant heat vac and burned with hundreds of other random bodies.
"We must do what we can to preserve the humanity of people, even for the dead".
Peter was born on the island of Freidal, his parents having been jailed for treason by the UDF. Peter was very young when this occurred (so he has little to no memories of his parents, who are still in prison). He lived with his grandparents thereafter (eventually being forced like all the islanders into mandatory UDF training camps once the comet struck). While training as a combat medic for the UDF, he began performing Mer de rêves since the role had been passed down to him by his grandmother. One can only become an official Funérailles if the teachings were directly taught and passed down to them by another Funérailles, hence why it is such an uncommon profession you can't just simply go to school for.
"I never chose to be a Funérailles, it chose me, and I will continue to do what I must with dignity and respect, if only for those who can no longer do so for themselves. That is the only reason why I am here."
A Funérailles can be identified by the "Mark of the Funérailles", which is a pair of symbols engraved into the palms of their hands by a much more experienced Funérailles. At some point, the UDF relocated Peter to Bellfort where he would work as a combat medic and continue performing the Mer de rêves from a highly regulated UDF compound by Sauraine lake. This is where he has remained since. He's never been within the inner city of Bellfort though since the UDF prohibited him from leaving the Sauraine Lake Compound (aside from his combat medic duties). They believed that isolating him from the general public made him more enigmatic and mystical for the Bellfort citizens (typical Aeon public perception control measures by the UDF).

As an Aeon, the spirits that came to Peter allowed him to create glowing light from his hands, which he can use to nullify pain and heal the wounds of others through touch. He can also form this energy into wings of light on his back, allowing him to fly for short periods of time. With a flick of his wrist, he can release a spritz of glittering golden sparkles at a target, putting them to sleep. For a wider effect, he can release a barrage of glittering golden bubbles that can put multiple targets to sleep in an area. Peter can surround himself in a bubble of glittering light and use it as a forcefield to shield himself and others from assault.
When taking on a more combat role, Peter is a sub-average fighter and is more of a support long-ranged combat operative. In ranged combat, Peter has a crossbow that he can equip with his Aeon magical energy to shoot piercing arrows of light. In close combat, he uses a traditional Freidalian sword and shield (he fights like an Old World European-esque knight). He can imbue his sword and shield with his glittering light to make them more effective.

Name: Milo Zabini
Age: 24
Height: 6'3"
UDF Division: Warfare Division Grunt with some mechanics and survivalist training from the Navigation Division, and reconnaissance training from the Intelligence Division. A Jack of All Trades kind of guy (except for Research Division training).
Personality: Milo is headstrong, territorial, and overprotective. He can be loveable, social, and very affectionate, but also has a very explosive personality when pissed and can anger easily. He doesn't forgive easily and is known to hold a grudge. If you cross him, he won't have anything to do with you. Milo gives everyone the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. Once his perception of someone changes for the worse, it's game over.
History: Originates from Bellfort and met Peter when he brought his grandfather's remains to him to have the Mer de rêves funeral rites performed. He became infatuated with Peter and began sneaking into the UDF compound at night to visit him. Eventually, Peter fell for Milo's unwavering persistence to court him and they started a relationship.
