while tru, quantity != quality, the fact is there's enough good writers out there with diverse enough interests to fit most niches apart from the unrealistically specific i.e. kitten beheading RP

srsly it seems the ppl having trouble finding RPs are by and large the ones that either dont have a thread asking for partners or inversely never contact anybody else and wait for ppl to come to them

Bio

If you enjoy my posts then consider pressing here to see my 1x1 interest check. Now listen to the tale of a man far from home longing to see its greens again.

About me:
Where do I begin. I'm from Belarus, and fairly proud of it. I've been RPing about a decade starting mostly with chat stuff and some LARPs/reenactments, doing the stuff of this site for maybe half a decade now. I'm a former serviceman, and while I was conscripted I make sure to stay in related circles. As a day job I'm a programmer letting me usually work from home even when we don't have coronavirus forcing us to do so and thus I got a lot of time for RP.

That sounds about right for Super mutants definitely a frosty relationship since both sides most likely wouldn't hate or love each other i see more of a competition for power rather than actual diplomacy.

I imagine it could kind of be a situation like in New Reno where they have good relations with one of the seven families in Cleveland but not the rest i.e. they have a special agreement to work for them as mercenaries in exchange for slaves and medical/scientific equipment while the rest they have a really bad relationship because of the aforementioned raiding

my still in WIP sheet is a page back if you want to read but yeah lest go the consortium is a state born out mobsters and has a merchant stance towards things

yeah I just read it, honestly doesn't sound like we'd have much of a relationship then

at best Cockburne's army would and the Consortium would just be two places traders go back and forth from and maybe the Army would send a few guys there to work as mercenaries if caps were urgently needed, at worst Cockburne's army would raid the place for people to dip in FEV every so often

seems like we are neighbors.

I didn't read what you have going. If you're in Ohio then I suppose we can work on some sort of existing relationship between our nations if you are interested since we've probably both been around long enough to have had contact.
Change of plans - I'm still using the Chinese AI, but I'm going to be mashing it up with Ronto/Canadian nationalism. An uneasy alliance between the two, if you will.

Edit: Some ideas for this sitch: Toronto has a huge network of pedestrian tunnels and underground shopping centers that were built IRL in the 1970s-80s (some in the early 1900s) initially and have been expanded since; also including subway lines/stations and the like. Now, this isn't anywhere near enough to comfortably hold the entire population, but my thinking is that it might be enough to shelter a decent enough portion of the population from the bombs to make a difference and allow Toronto to become the major regional power of 'Ronto' that's mentioned in The Pitt. I'm still thinking about how exactly that's going to happen - my immediate thought is that the very high density of power-generating facilities in the region might allow-it to re-electrify comparatively quickly, though a lot of those will be targets of any nuclear attack, so it's partly a question of how many survived and in what state. There's also the question of nuclear research facilities like Chalk River.

I also considered how access to the great Lakes region might affect the survival of an urban area like Ronto - perhaps it's an especially valuable fishing resource in the post-nuclear wasteland; maybe the lion's share of the didn't land in the lakes or the connected watersheds, avoiding making it a toxic pile of ass? Additionally, Canada was (fairly) recently occupied, and US Forces would probably still be fairly active suppressing dissent. Could that have led to a relatively large availability of military equipment?

Access to the great lakes would definitely be a big boon, especially for maritime trade of which Ronto could have become a hub. That said I think the US occuppying the area would only serve as a detriment to the development. Most likely the remnants of the American army would end up transforming into terrifyingly well armed and trained raiders harassing locals for decades to come.
Spin off question (I'll update the original post too): What are obstacles you have to writing characters who are a different gender/race/sexuality/any other quality as yourself?

I notice a lot of people in the 1x1 section seem to stick to writing as their own gender and want to open this thread up further for discussion and advice for anyone who might want to branch out from their niche, whatever that may be.

To be quite honest most of the time its simply because Im not interested. Of course I dont want to do a stupid self insert but at the same time if a character is too different to myself I just cannot relate and hence cant write em
Men, women, black, white, we're all people.

<Snipped quote by Dagger>

Interesting. I don't know if I've noticed that but its good to take note of. On the flip side, men do make a lot of women less than experienced which frankly, is just stupid. Of course it can be written well, but I never understood the 'purity' trope as a prerequisite for a goodly woman protag.

Probably the writer not having met many women
@Andreyich This goes out to everyone, but also to you because of something I realized while looking at your profile.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Alot of towns in the US have the same name as others. When I was looking at a map for locations, I found two Shelbyvilles. So, while states and borders don't have much meaning in-game, out-of-game it'll be less confusing if you're more specific.

The Chicago I referred to is the one in Illinois where according to Lonesome Road the Enclave has a presence. The Columbus I refer to is the capital of Ohio. Lmk if there are any other mentions that are confusing.

Right so I know we said we're in the East Coast, but unless anyone has any objections I am going to say that re: the West Coast doc henry done his research on lily and Cockburne's army was able to recruit some of both Jacobstown and Utobitha in its travels, every so often sending a runner to check if any breakthroughs have been made
