Being what was essentially the new flying angel of the area, Blazermate would often fly around Mafia Town at all hours while looking for unique or fun things to do. Most of her allies tended to work at the various restaurants, which wasn't something that interested her, so she had to find her own fun. And this time, that fun would be in observing a new ship that came into port that many people seemed to be excited about for one reason or another.

Finding a high up perch, she watched as many, many people seemed to line up for whatever this was. She was a bit too far away to get a great view since she could only zoom in so far, but she noticed that people were trading orbs, one of them being the money the Mafia often used. Although after awhile with nothing happening but trading of pearls and pons, Blazermate was getting bored. That was until she did a final scan of the line and saw Geralt there in the line. Well... she guessed there was something going on here? So she continued to watch although laying down lazily on the high up girder she was watching this all from.

"Huh... Wonder what hes doing here?" Blazermate said as he watched and waited as Geralt made his way up the line. If she had a bag of chips and could eat them, she'd be munching them right now with the casual pose she was giving. Although when Geralt left without much fanfare, she got bored again. Maybe she'd see Nadia or Captain or something come on over and do something more flashy. Granted come to think of it, Nadia wouldn't be here unless these things had cat faces on them huh? Well, Blazermate had time to kill, so why not watch this go down a bit more. If nothing happened, she'd just tail Geralt.

Looking at the circus below with Goldweis and Primrose, Roland couldn't help but show a bit of concern. "Well... as long as they keep to basic stuff and don't get all weird about it, it... should be fine?" Roland said. He was curious as to what a bug circus could bring, since it was actual anthropomorphic bugs and not like... a syndicate or something. "I don't know aobut you two, but I'm morbidly curious as to what is going down there. If the city sees this as a huge holiday, its gotta be good right?" And at that point Roland had almost turned on a dime on how he felt about the circus after he had given it a bit more thought. After all, the 9 o clock circus only appeared in desolate, rundown areas to prey on the desperate and depressed but this was in the middle of a giant city so who knows, it could be fun?

Blazermate took a bit to get over what happened to Bowser. Although it made sense now that she thought about it, he wasn't all that smart. Hopefully he didn't turn into a consul the next time they saw her, Ganondorf would be happy about that though. Still, Mafia town was colorful, fun, although she couldn't enjoy any of the fish or cooking on display. The Mafia running the town, or so they called themselves, were pretty goofy all things considered. But from what she heard from the others who were here, their food was good.

Getting up to her own shenanigans, although they were things she wasn't all that sure were shenanigans, upon learning that the random flying blue girl robot could heal grievous wounds with ease, when she was around an area the Mafia were often emboldened to push people they normally weren't up to pushing around due to getting injured. They'd do their shenanigans, and much like they assumed, they'd get beaten up a bit, and come running to the medabot for heals so they didn't have to rest for days. While Blazermate was fine with healing what she assumed were town guards (And likewise, was often given more freedom around Mafia town than most.), she actually contributed to the crime of the city more than she thought.

Hey, at least the occasional Mafia was happy enough to pay her a tip, although that was often rare. Really the biggest boon was the fact that she could fly around the city at her leisure without being bothered too much by Mafia... well unless they needed heals of course.

Meridi-at-Han was a glamorous looking city, but a City non the less. Fixer work suited Roland, it was really the only thing he was good at. But that also meant he was good at a lot of things. Although he expected that this group would give him some money, apparently that wasn't the case. Instead they relied on his resourcefulness to make ends meet. Something that he at least had in spades, and as such started a new fixer office in Meridi-at-Han.

Being a city of adventurers, work wasn't really a problem. The problem was that there were also tons and tons of others looking for work and unlike the City, Roland couldn't really use his name to sell things. At this point he doubted the old grading systems even meant anything anymore which really sucked... But at least now he didn't have to call himself a grade 9 fixer anymore. And unlike many of the adventurers here, he offered something they lacked... anonymity. Anyone who saw him walking around would just assume 'hes just another guy' and wouldn't remember him once he left their sight. That and his silent movement made him one heck of an assassin. Although all that being said, he preferred to be an information broker.

While getting information took a bit, he learned much what Goldweis learned about the city to the north and the guardian of the area. Apparently that was common knowledge. But he also learned the lay of the land and what generally was in all the areas. His services on the other hand were... pretty bog standard contracts all things considered. Almost clandestine with kill 4 ogres here or 15 butterflies there... Honestly Roland was expecting way bigger jobs but there weren't Stars here. It paid the bills though and even got Roland a new weapon.

Speaking of Goldweis. When Roland went to grab a bite to eat; the one thing he loved about the city with its various delicious foods, he saw the vet looking over the balcony looking at the upcoming circus. "Hey old timer, enjoying the food?" Roland said, silently sitting next to the vet out of punching range, a plate of curry next to him. "I wonder whats going to go on with that circus. The masks I saw from a few of them kinda creep me out."

Being under the rule of someone else was not something Sectonia liked. But one does what one does when the only one above you is a literal god. A god that was pretty much hands off in all regards, so much so that Sectonia could at least add the details she liked to the temple. At first there were some chatter and disapproval at Sectonia summoning random crystal platforms, but once it was shown that these platforms were not only decorative, but functional as sniping positions for some angels to snipe at the corruption, as well as her own abilities made them begrudgingly accept the admittedly pretty crystals. Sectonia meanwhile aided with dealing with the corruption, or even pushing it back, with her antlers and her own abilities.

Although strong on the frontlines, Sectonia more spent her time learning about what was around the area, about powerful artifacts and other such things. Although so far she had only a couple leads and nothing concrete. As much as she'd like to research all of this, she'd oftne have to refresh her antlers who were fighting on the front lines, or use her own light based abilities while cloaked in her Chaos heart shield to push back and often gain some ground before retreating back to continue looking at what she was more interested in, power.
Here are my redone character sheets.

Skyworld’s the Limit

Midna’s @DracoLunaris, Pit’s @Yankee, Sectonia’s @Archmage MC, Roxas’ @Double, Sandalphon’s @Lugubrious
Word Count: 5761 (+6)

Given the altitude of the Avenger’s target, this deployment went much more quickly than the drops to Carnival Town, Markarth, and Peach’s Castle. Perked up by her extra-strong morning coffee, Sandalphon withstood the bumpy ride down as best she could, but even the stolid archangel could not steel herself for what she saw when her bullet-like hellpod hit the ground. When its lid popped off, blindingly brilliant sunlight flooded in, and as Sandalphon recoiled from its radiance the floor panel beneath her automatically lifted her up into the day’s warmth. Her eyes adjusted quickly, and when they did she could begin to behold the stunning beauty of Skyworld at dawn, in all its glory.

Floating high above the Sandswept Sky’s eastern coast, Skyworld took the form of a gargantuan array of interconnected sky islands, sprawled out both horizontally and vertically, their mountainous landmasses of pale stone contrasted against the rich yellows and oranges of lush, perennially autumnal foliage. A number of the islands featured a more natural appearance, with pools of pristine water, golden grasses, and placid herbivores interspersed among their untouched deciduous sentinels. Most, however, featured at least some semblance of deliberate masonry, and many of the largest islands featured architectural achievements of astonishing size and grandeur. Holy spires, breathtaking cathedrals, and lovely temples could be found all over, surrounded by elaborate monuments and serving as the centerpieces of angelic colonies of a uniform Greco-Roman style. Over everything towered several minor erdtrees, the most massive of which could be found on the centermost and largest sky island of all, Eden, surrounded by concentric rings of idyllic waterfall terraces. As divine as it all looked, especially that immense tree with its luminous leaves, this was no perfect paradise. Its many fortified bastions, ramparts, and winged soldiers spoke of plentiful turmoil, and nowhere seemed more active than the acropolis stronghold of Palutena’s Temple, sheltered beneath the wings of the goddess of light herself.

The reason for Skyworld’s standing army became clear after a little more searching. Not all of the archipelago’s islands were autumnal parks or angelic townships. In sharp contrast, some of them -on the far side opposite Eden and Palutena’s Temple- were stained pitch-black and sickly yellow-green, infested and overgrown by some form of inky, oozy corruption with a tendency to form crystalline deposits and eye-like growths. From here it was hard to make out the details, but even at a distance it inspired a strong aversion in anything healthy and/or holy. No doubt the denizens of this airborne realm kept those islands as isolated and quarantined as possible, on guard against possible vectors of infection around the clock.

Sandalphon looked around. She and the other Seekers had dropped into the middle of a small forested island at a high altitude, which she had to thank for the good view she’d gotten of Skyworld itself. Both Eden and Palutena’s Temple weren’t all that far off. Everything about this place appealed to the archangel’s aesthetic sense immensely, and it was hard to suppress her excitement as she absorbed the awe-inspiring scenery. Given her typical nonchalance, Sandalphon was practically giddy. “It would be a shame to rush through this place,” she remarked to the others. “Though we’re here to find Palutena, let us not disregard Skyworld’s wondrous beauty in the process.”

"Heheh, it is pretty great isn't it?" Pit stood with his hands at hips and his wings spread proudly. He breathed the air in deeply, beaming at his friends and companions before looking out over the various islands again and throwing his hands up, open and wide. "Welcome to Skyworld! This is where me, the Centurions, and Lady Palutena live. And Pittoo sometimes, but since he joined up with Viridi he hasn't really visited."

Pit took in the whole of Skyworld, everything that it had been combined with, what was different and what was still the same. His gaze lingered on Palutena's Temple, his home, more than once. There were a lot more islands, though many of them didn't look out of place at all. Bridges connected some, others were free floating. Compared to the eternal summer usually found in the realm, it now appeared to be autumn, which was an interesting change. He noted the legions of Palutena's Army, the army he was captain of, flitting around in the distance, as well as the corroded islands they had fortified against. He squinted at these corrupted spaces, finding some had a disturbing resemblance to the Chaos Kin, but from here he couldn't be sure. Is this what they've been dealing with up here? Lady Palutena was too busy with the army to reach out to me? the young angel thought. He was still worried over the goddess, but just being back in Skyworld alleviated a lot of his fears.

"It's not exactly the same though. Hmm... honestly, I kinda like some of the changes," he said, his eyes tracing the trunk of the largest erdtree. After a moment, and another glance at the temple, he finally tore his attention away from the area and put it back on the other Seekers.

"We can island hop! Plus I want to get a closer look at what that dark stuff is. It can't be good."

”Yes, look, definitely a thing I can do right now,” Midna replied, a hand raised to try and shield her eyes from the sun, the combination of helmet, mask, and literal blindfold apparently not doing much to protect the twilight princess’ dark adapted sight. Her desert adapted flygon, despite its twilight-ification, meanwhile, was more than happy to sun itself by her side while it waited to take her to the skies.

”Hmmm. I suppose we should’ve expected some kind of battleground here as well… I suppose if we need to island hop I can carry one of you non fliers.” Sectonia said, looking at the situation before her. She’d prefer more flowers and less architecture, perhaps more gemstones, but Pit was right, this place wasn’t half bad.

Luckily for Roxas, he still had his Jackal mask which he could wear to shield his eyes from the sun for the most part. [gold=gold]”So this is like a land of angels?”[/color] Roxas asked. It did seem pretty appropriate that angels would inhabit a kingdom of floating sky islands way up in the clouds like this. Something about this also reminded him a lot of a place that existed in his own world too, but since Roxas had never personally visited that place he couldn’t completely confirm the similarities.

Since Midna was taller than him now, Pit couldn't do much to provide her with extra shade (if it would have even helped). Which was a shame since she wouldn't be able to really appreciate the area. They had to get her some sunglasses. At Roxas' question he looked at the other boy, started to nod, and then turned to shaking his head... and then paused and nodded again.

"It probably is now? I mean, back home I'm the only angel that lives here. Lady Palutena mentioned the Centurions aren't really, and she doesn't count 'cause she's a goddess. Sandalphon was the first actual angel I've met besides me!" He looked back out towards the main island. "I wonder what other kinds of angels are here now!"

While her new surroundings interested her the most, Sandalphon kept an eye on her allies as well. Pit seemed to be full of energy and pride, eager to show off this aerial archipelago and its wonders despite the drastic departures from the Skyworld he knew and loved. If he were a tour guide, then she, Roxas, and Sectonia were certainly the tourists. The same couldn’t be said for Midna, whose natural loathing of light had not, unfortunately, been mitigated by her many fusions. Inwardly, Sandalphon both wondered why she chose to come here and lauded her tenacity for doing so. Weighing Midna’s discomfort against her own desire to explore, and keeping in mind the possibility that surprise visitors might not be welcome in high-security areas, the archangel quickly calculated a route through the sky islands. Among the members of this group, only Sectonia could fly freely, but the rest could at least slow-fall or long jump, which opened up a lot of paths. “Let’s be off, then. We’ll have ample time for admiration in transit.”

Just as Pit said, the Seekers began to island hop. Though Sandalphon prescribed a reasonably efficient route toward Palutena’s Temple for Midna’s sake, it would be difficult for any trip through Skyworld to not be scenic. The high-altitude wind practically sang through the trees decked out in fall colors, and each sculpture they passed seemed more impressive than the next. Various creatures could be found all over, especially in the untouched autumn woods, including curious egg-shaped paissa, mischievous gaelicats, two-faced remlits, eerie seraphaces, and moody bansheep. As the newcomers marched up and down well-worn stone stairs, past pillars, and through ancient archways, they could scarcely ignore the patrols of the well-armed angels that Pit had been so curious about. Every squad featured at least one formidable Feathershield, each one possessed of brawn as grand as his sterling silver armor and towering greatshield polished to a mirror sheen. In their company one could find a handful of gallant Featherswords, keen Featherbows, and slight Featherstaffs, all wearing either helmets or silvery masks. Rarer but more impressive still were the elites, the Storm Wardens with wings of light and heavy cannons, as well as the Champions so heavily armed and armored that they might as well have been holy mechs. Though vigilant as they flew about, these angels did not regard the newcomers with hostility, especially once they got a good look at Sandalphon’s remarkable triple halo and Pit’s own white-feathered wings. Instead they treated the newcomers with courtesy, nodding politely as they flapped past. Somewhat relieved, Sandalphon continued to keep up with her energetic young charge as well as she could as the team drew closer to Palutena’s Temple.

”So, you said your lady Palutena is a goddess, yes?” Midna asked Pit, casually, and then gave a touch too much away by adding ”as in an actual goddess?” with just a hint of need before controlling for that and asking ”what’s she like?”

"Oh man, where do I start?" he replied without looking over at Midna, starry eyed gaze fixed on the unfamiliar angelic soldiers and the next island they'd have to hop down to. He probably would have launched into the same speech he gave Sandalphon about her the day before, if no one had cut him off.

”Hmph, if her beauty doesn’t eclipse or even come close to mine, I’ll be very disappointed.” Sectonia said, having power that rivaled the gods or so she thought, and then having absorbed the power of one just recently. Although to her it was more about beauty. ”Although so far, things have been… fine. I could see places to work on, but so far things are acceptable.”

"Acceptable" was high praise coming from the Queen of Floralia, but it was overridden by her first comment, at least in Pit's ears. He whirled around to face Sectonia, pale pink color spreading on his cheeks. "It definitely does! Lady Palutena is perfect! She's—whoa!"

Moving backward, Pit nearly slipped from the edge of the floating rock they were on. He caught himself before falling, pushing off the side and spreading his wings to glide down to the nearest island. When he landed he huffed, then waited for the others to swoop down and join him. Once everyone met Lady Palutena, they would understand how wonderful she was. And it would be soon, hopefully. The thought was energizing Pit, but he reigned it in as best he could, and once the others joined him again he gave Midna a serious answer.

"Lady Palutena is the Goddess of Light. She's awesome - strong, smart and kind. You'll like her! Just, maybe don't look directly at her halo."

Sectonia gave a bit of a chuckle at hearing that. She had just absorbed a light goddess herself. ”Hm… that's interesting. I do hope she doesn’t dislike our princess here like the Guardian of the Under would.” Sectonia mused. ”She targeted Ganondorf quite often…”

Not quite sure of the logical connection behind Sectonia’s thought process, Sandalphon focused on the road ahead, as well as the person of interest who the quartet would find at the end. “It sounds like Palutena and I will get along. Although I often assume directorial duties in combat operations, my role is primarily dictated by necessity, due to my talents in logistics, communication, and calculation. I would offer no reservations about ceding the role to someone who’s similarly capable but also displays true leadership qualities, such as the charisma to inspire strength and loyalty in the troops.” After brushing back a few strands of hair teased out of place by the wind, Sandalphon slipped her hands in her pockets as she continued on. “Objectively speaking, somebody like me could be replaced with a sufficiently powerful computer. Someone like this Palutena, however, sounds irreplaceable.”

”Then she might be just what we need” Midna concluded based on all this, even if her desire was more for a hand wise and true enough to be trusted to hold Galeem’s power than specifically a leader to dictate how to claim it. She Seekers were no nation or army, and they were held together by a shared interest and shared foe, rather than any kind of loyalty to any sort of leader after all.

Flurries of falling leaves blew overhead and scraped softly across the ground as the team proceeded over an arched stone bridge. The closer they got to Palutena’s Temple, the more built up these islands were, to the point where they became less like free-floating masses and more like supports for the structures built atop them. At this point, most of the angel soldiers the newcomers encountered appeared to either be on guard duty, preparing to deploy, or returning from assignment. Though wary of the unfamiliar faces, they behaved no less cordially than the patrols encountered earlier; evidently Sandalphon’s halo did a lot of talking. It wasn’t long before the Seekers’ road brought them to a heavily fortified gate that barred the way to the temple grounds, where they found a Feathershield captain running drills. Boasting a remarkably burly physique but unusually small wings, the man noticed the strangers immediately, and turned away from his soldiers with a stern, stony face.

“Peace be with you,” he greeted in a flat but proper English accent. “You must be new here. On behalf of Skyworld’s angels, welcome. I am Fodoquia, a humble blade of the Father and soldier of Palutena’s Army. If you please, state your names, affiliations, and business here at the seat of Skyworld’s power.”

The Archangel bowed her head respectfully. “Peace be with you, Fodoquia. I am Sandalphon, servant of the goddess Illia. Though I lack wings in this form, I too am an angel, as is young Pit here.” She gestured toward her companion. “And these are Midna, Roxas, and Sectonia, our friends and comrades. Though I understand her to be a busy woman, we seek to meet with Lady Palutena.”

“Illia?” A much deeper voice rang out as another formidable angel descended from the top of the gate on great white wings. He stood even taller than Fodoquia, and made for a striking sight in heavy gold-and-white armor. Though bald-headed, he sported a white goatee, and a symbol on his forehead that shone with inner light. This angel was ever bit a no-nonsense professional as his counterpart, and after he alighted he and Fodoquia on either side of the gate made for an imposing pair of gate guards indeed. “Never heard of her,” he declared, crossing his arms.

Sandalphon shifted her weight slightly. “Long ago, she made the first-ever pact with a dragon, in this case the Holywyrm Elysium. Their divine accord quelled the conflict between man and dragon to create the foundation of society across Grastaea. Though she is worshiped as a goddess and the progenitor of the Illian Church, which I serve as the leader of a peacekeeping group called the Apostles. I must confess that she is not a creator deity like many that I’ve learned of during my time in this World of Light, making her more akin to a saint, and by the time I came to be she was long gone.” She tilted her head slightly, her pupils becoming inverted triangles. “So, perhaps you might understand why I am eager to meet a ‘goddess’ in the flesh.”

The angel nodded his head. “Well said. I do understand your curiosity, and share it. Though all angels like myself revere the Creator, or Father as some call him, we have yet to see him face to face. I am Nathaniel, soldier of the Hellguard and direct subordinate to Uriel, who stands alongside Lady Palutena to safeguard Skyworld from evil. If you would be so kind as to wait, I will send word that you request an audience.”

At that moment, though, a third angel descended from the sky, her long straight-cut blonde hair flowing in the wind. Unlike the other two, her wings and armor featured a more cybernetic technological appearance, and she seemed less like a soldier. “You big dummies!” she called out as she landed, a teasing smile on her face. “All this dithering about beliefs and protocols. Did the name ‘Pit’ mean nothing to you!?” As Fodoquia and Nathaniel exchanged a confused glance, the lady angel planted her palm against her face. “Ugh, unbelievable.” She then turned a smile at Pit, winking. “Sorry about all that. You and your friends should come with me!” Turning on a dime toward her compatriots, her voice became harsh again. “Hurry up and open the gates!”

Fodoquia cleared his throat, lips pursed, and called up to the soldiers on the wall. “...Open the gates.”

"That's more like it," Pit grinned. In all honesty he was a little starstruck to see so many angels, so it was a good thing that Sandalphon had taken charge of the introduction. That the soldiers hadn't recognized him wasn't a shock, but things were set straight without him even having to say anything! It was a relief that even after merging with some other army he still held his rank.

A moment later the gates opened wide, admitted the Seekers to Palutena’s Temple with the lady angel as their guide. “My name is Celia,” she introduced herself. “Don’t mind those stuffy soldiers. We’ve been expecting you, a certain someone in particular. Better not keep her waiting~” She beckoned the newcomers to follow her, then took off, flying fast and low through the temple grounds.

”Convenient” Midna noted, before dismissing her draconic escort, tensing, and then taking off at a jog after their fast flying guide, calling back ”let’s not keep her waiting.”

”She’s a goddess right?” Roxas replied. ”And the Avenger’s a big ship, so… it can’t be that weird if she saw us coming… right?”

"Of course not! She can see pretty much everything!"

Sectonia observed the chatter and she didn’t really say much of anything as the others had this well in hand. And she was learning quite a bit by just watching. Well, it was interesting, but also a bit concerning, that Pit outranked all these angels with how boyish he was. But then that led to more thoughts and overall she’d need to still see Palutena, but Sectonia was interested now.

”Wonder why those other Angels didn’t know you.” Roxas said to Pit as they were escorted. ”Shouldn’t they have been told to be on the lookout for your return or something?”

”Factionalism, maybe?” Midna suggested, as she wondered what it must be like to act in the name of an absent god when a real one was right there. ”Maybe there’s some disagreement or rift between these followers of the ‘Father’ and those who serve Lady Palutena?”

”Makes sense…. These Consuls are stirring up conflict everywhere even if they themselves aren’t here. And the world itself causes conflict as well, so conflict among factions would mesh well with what we know.” Sectonia said, agreeing with Midna.

Sandalphon considered the situation. “Or perhaps they were given a physical description that is no longer applicable.”

”A mix of both perhaps.”

”Maybe,” Roxas said. ”but that doesn't explain why they didn't at least recognize his name.”

"They were definitely newbies, but whatever it was it's fine now," Pit said, shrugging the whole thing off. After all, there was only one person that he cared about recognizing him right now. In anticipation he sped up even more to catch up with Celia, eyes on the familiar rising temple.

"It hasn't been that long, right?" To him it didn't feel like it, but in light of everything they'd learned yesterday he couldn't be sure. He hoped that Lady Palutena hadn't been stressed and looking for him at least. "Are you part of her army too, Celia? Has she been doing okay? ...and are you a robot angel?"

After crossing a handful of bridges and climbing a lot of stairs, the group was getting close to Palutena’s Temple, and their pace began to slow somewhat. When Pit took the chance to talk to her, Celia replied with a cheeky smile. “Oh no, wrong on both accounts I’m afraid~. I’m more of a…well, spy, heehee. While the others flap around with their heads in the clouds, I keep my ear to the ground for juicy secrets. I’m pretty good, too. Lady Palutena trusted me to keep an eye out for her favorite little angel, after all~” She giggled. “And no, I’m not a robot. Whatever gave you that idea?”

Her wings of course, but by that time the six had reached the temple’s grand main entrance, so the conversation came to an end. With a nod from Celia, the angel guards on duty threw wide the doors to admit the newcomers into Palutena’s Temple. Sandalphon composed herself and followed the two inside at a more dignified pace than the hyper-excited Pit, ready to meet his goddess.

The temple was constructed in much the same way as the rest of Skyworld, but being its seat of power the area was polished and immaculate. Pools and streams of crystal blue water decorated the temple, along with some features new to Pit like stained glass fixtures. Emboldened by it looking mostly the same he led the group deeper in, his flapping wings urging them to go faster even if he didn't say it aloud. It wasn't far from the entrance that they came upon a wide open room with a doorway on two other sides, just as pristine as the rest of the temple. Tall marble columns stood along each wall of cool colored tile mosaics, holding up a high tiered ceiling with a glass window at the top letting plenty of sunlight in. Beautiful fabric drapes covered the far walls behind the room's only real feature: a large, marble double staircase with a raised landing. At the top of it, a floating cherub spoke with a slender woman clothed in white robes and gold accessories. She held a gold and lapis staff taller than she was in one hand, a reflective buckler shield strapped to her other arm. Silken green hair cascaded down her back, topped by an elegant laurel crown, and at the back of her head, a radiant blue winged halo shone. Though human in appearance, her very presence seemed so much larger. There was no doubt about who this woman was even if Pit hadn't called out to her, his voice full of mixed emotion.

"Lady Palutena!"

She turned, giving everyone a full view of the illustrious Goddess of Light. She didn't seem surprised; rather her expression was serene and welcoming, as befitting a divine being... and then she smiled widely, clearly as elated to see her loyal angel as he was to see her.

"Pit!" Palutena ceased her conversation and stepped off of the landing, floating down to the floor. At the same time Pit had all but sprinted the extra distance and flung himself towards her. She caught the angel in her arms, sharing a hug with him before stepping back and ruffling his hair affectionately. "It's about time you got here."

"I know, I know! I'm sorry Lady Palutena. I was busy with world saving stuff, and I couldn't exactly get back up here on my own you know."

The two of them grinned at each other. Although looking up at her, Pit could see that her emerald green eyes were covered by the sunset red film denoted by the Gleaming, just like the rest of the angels they'd passed. He had hoped that somehow she would already have been freed, but since she hadn't contacted him he knew that wouldn't be the case. It was probably what caused the interference in the first place.

"What's the matter?"

"Oh, um, nothing. It just... feels really good to be back here and see you again, Lady Palutena."

The goddess wasn't fooled, but she let it slide so that she could turn her attention to the four people Pit had brought along with him. There was a flicker of something similar to recognition in her gaze as she looked at them, like she had some second hand knowledge about some of the group, but she didn't assume anything - instead gesturing to the Seekers and glancing down at Pit. "New friends of yours?"

"Yup!" He happily introduced each person in turn this time, pointing them out as he went. "This is Roxas, Princess Midna, Queen Sectonia, and Sandalphon, an angel of the goddess Illia!"

Palutena smiled warmly, nodding a greeting at the group. "It's nice to meet you."

Despite her divine bearing, up close she seemed more down to earth than what the newcomers might have expected.

Roxas seemed to instinctively straighten up his posture. A habit he no doubt inherited from Sora - would often do the same thing when interacting with Master Yen Sid or the King. ”It’s nice to meet you too, Lady Palutena. I’ve never seen a place like this before. The islands up here all look beautiful.”

Since setting foot in here, Sandalphon maintained her composure, her stride deliberately slow and her manner stiffly proper. Only her eyes moved quickly, absorbing everything in sight. The moment that her gaze landed on Palutena, she studied the goddess intently, practically transfixed. In a surprising turn of events, Palutena looked human, much more so than even Sandalphon herself. Her white robes and golden ornaments gave her an appearance of purity and regality, though perhaps most incredible was her hair–having hair that long and perfect, without a tangle or muss in sight, was a supernatural feat in and of itself. Sandalphon also admired Palutena’s halo, though maybe ‘halo’ was the wrong word. ‘Corona’, perhaps? If angels possessed halos, it made sense that a goddess would shine with something even more glorious. Though she hadn’t known what to expect, Pit’s deity really wasn’t what the archangel expected. Then again, she barely had any idea what her own goddess should look like, let alone someone else’s. Sandalphon decided that she was honored to meet this woman, a harmony of human and heavenly virtues.

“The pleasure is mine,” she declared after Roxas, her pupils briefly becoming upward carets.

Sectonia observed this so-called ‘Goddess of Light’, and her initial observation was that she wasn’t impressive. But if anything, this new world proved that even the most unassuming could be dangerous. ”I see that the angels are fighting some sort of evil corruption in the sky here. Care to explain the situation?” If they were going to somehow use this place as a base, there was a lot that had to be done here to ensure the safety of those who resided here.

Minda meanwhile had the divinity of the goddess the least shattered by her humanity, mainly because she could barely see it. The glowing radiance hovering behind the goddess left her more silhouette than anything in the twilight princess’ eyes. Given that trying to shield them from it would have been pretty disrespectful, she mostly had to grin and bear the glare, thankful that the helmet prevented people seeing her squinting, which made Sectonia’s tactless attitude pretty frustrating to her, prompting her to sarcastically snip that the queen’s question was ”very diplomatic”

”Hm? Pit has said he's the commander of her royal guards is he not? He has said as much. Unless they have some kind of other relationship?” Sectonia quipped back. This was something she suspected a bit as things have been unfolding. Besides, she doubted a gleaming goddess would think about anything but war at this moment.

Midna’s quip and Sectonia’s defensiveness cut in just when Palutena was poised to respond, but judging by her serene expression and faint smile of amusement the goddess didn’t seem too bothered. “Neither situation is complicated,” she assured the royals. “The Gloom is simply a manifestation of evil. A weed in the Garden, and like all weeds a little trimming now and again.” She smirked just a tiny bit, evidently pleased with herself for her wordplay, though even Sandalphon had a hard time detecting it. When she looked at Pit, though, the goddess was all smiles. “Pit is indeed my commander, but in his absence I’ve had to lean on a couple others. Like Uriel, the commander of the Hellguard. She’s quite capable, too…but no substitute for my most loyal retainer.”

At that point, Sandalphon spoke up. “Lady Palutena,” she began, using the same title and deferential tone that Palutena’s soldiers did. “While I cannot speak for Pit, given that his place seems to be at your side, the rest of us hope to stay in Skyworld for a time, and freely travel its breadth, if you’ll permit us. A day or two for myself, but longer for the others. “In exchange, we are willing to lend our strength to your army and combat the Gloom. Though your forces clearly boast both strength and numbers, not to mention a capable leader, it appears that this corruption has been difficult to wholly expunge.” She said and meant it matter-of-factly, not at all to challenge anyone’s abilities, but the archangel was cognizant that her words could be taken that way. “When it comes to hunting down high-priority, high-risk targets, our organization has an excellent track record. You will not find us lacking.”

”Indeed. Our group managed to end a century long plague afflicting the underground. Something… fairly similar to what you're dealing with here, come to think of it.” That did lead to the question, Sectonia had the Radiance within her, as disgusting as it could be, could she control the gloom and send it against their enemies?

The less said about the other team’s mission the better meanwhile, which inevitably meant that Midna opened her mouth to say that ”We also fought all sorts of horrible corruption in Midgar, so we’ve got a wide range of experience when it comes to different kinds of evils, be they otherworldly or all too grounded.”

All the self-advertising elicited a titter from the goddess of light. “My, I can see that Pit’s found some friends who’re almost as eager to help as he is.” She nodded, then made a sweeping motion with her arm as if delivering a pronouncement. “Very well. Any friend of Pit’s is a friend of mine, after all, and who am I to decline a generous offer from friends in need? Celia here can find you a place to stay. Once you’re settled, I’ll be eager to accompany you to the front and see just what you can do.”

Sandalphon bowed her head. “Thank you, Lady Palutena. You will not regret it.”

“Right this way then~” Celia turned to lead the Seekers back out, and in quick succession all the newcomers went to follow her. Only Sandalphon lingered, her eyes locked with Palutena’s for a moment longer. No matter what she said, the archangel knew that the goddess couldn’t truly be an ally until Galeem’s corruption was gone from her eyes. After another moment, Sandalphon turned without a word and accompanied the others back out into Skyworld’s radiant light.

”According to Asgore, a king of the underground who was unstoried by a Consul and then given the task of fueling one of those clocks alone as part of some cruel jape, there are these symbols, like suns, found on the ground across the world, that resurrect the dead. They do not recall their past lives in this world when brought back, but still have the potential to remember the ones before. Like we have now,” before getting to the gist of things, which was ”As a result, as far as we know, anyone lost can be brought back, but they will not remember the time they had spent here, or with us.”

At the news, Goldlewis gaped, while Sandalphon stared. Arms crossed, Nadia looked away, her lack of response betraying the fact that she already knew. Geralt, meanwhile, sighed at this revelation. “So, theoretically, any of us could have lived a thousand lives here and know nothing about them?” That was…existentially horrifying in a thousand ways. As for Roxas, the whole notion of being reset and forced to start over went a little over his head. Was there some previous life or iteration where Axel and Xion were still with him in Twilight Town? And why would they have changed locations if that was the case?

Trying to ignore the revelation of that fact, Sectonia shook her head. ”If that is the case… then wouldn’t anything any of us have done previously have some impact on the world at large even if we ourselves don’t remember it?” She said, more looking for something to say as she grasped the same thing Geralt had figured out.

"She's right! If I was alive before I definitely would have tried stopping Galeem!" Pit agreed. There was no way it was true that they all had been living in a cycle this whole time... it couldn't be! Right?

Sandalphon glanced at him, not happy about what she had to point out. “To stand against Galeem, you would need to have been destoried first.”

Pit crossed his arms and bit the inside of his cheek. Duh, of course someone would have had to free us before... or I could have broken out myself! Or... For all those possibilities, it was just as possible that this had been the first time that any of them had been destoried. A cosmic coincidence. If someone hadn't happened to just pick up a ring, or happened to destroy the Land of Adventure's Guardian, then he would never have been himself again - and he'd never even know it, like Geralt had said. Relenting, he frowned.

"So then we really could have just been doing the same thing over and over, like being stuck in the worst TV rerun ever."

Nadia regarded him with a raised eyebrow. “You know what a TV is?” she muttered.

Geralt nodded solemnly. “I was just doing the usual Witcher work until I was destoried. Would’ve done it the whole ten years until I faded into ash, I imagine. Already been at it for decades, what would one more be?” The idea of having spent the rest of eternity walking the Path on repeat, even if he sometimes found Ciri or Yen…disturbed him more than he was willing to admit.

This got Sectonia thinking, and she came up with a conclusion that they all knew, but now there was much more context behind it. ”So the Consuls found a way to break out of this cycle of resurrection and instead use this infinite cycle of resurrection to fuel their own debauchery. And they call this “Moebius”.”

”Which probably stands for ‘infinite one sided loop’ if I remember what that word means right? So they are claiming in a fancy way to be infinite.” Roland said, trying to give some input on this conversation.

”...Yes.” Sectonia said, not sure if the definition of the word brought anything new to the table. ”What's interesting is that, due to whatever method they used to ‘leave the system’, if they are defeated they die forever.”

Sandalphon’s pupils took the form of inverted triangles as she thought. “That’s something that Lost Numbers and Moebius have -or rather, don't have- in common, then. No spirit–no reference point for their existence outside of the World of Light.” She narrowed her eyes. “I wonder if the Consuls ‘escaped’ under their own power, or with the help of some authority, most likely Galeem itself, given that they assume control of the World of Light to perpetuate the cycle.”

She breathed in, then out through her nose. “Since we've abandoned the chronology at this point, let's specifically recount everything we know about the Consuls. I can start us off with Moebius Y.” She conjured a screen that displayed an image of the late Consul. “We encountered him in Midgar, first at the headquarters of Neuron, a local law enforcement agency. He held a position of overt power over the local government and manipulated events to prolong the Ever Crisis, a ceaseless war between the people of Midgar and various enemy forces. An enemy of his, one Jena Anderson, exposed his original identity to us: Yoseph Calvert. He appeared to obstruct us when we moved to challenge the Guardian, but he seemed acutely aware of the stipulation Sectonia mentioned: that his death would be permanent. To that end he consumed an enormous amount of Mako energy -and Legion cores- and transformed himself in an attempt to merge himself with a dimension known as the Astral Plane. However, he failed to do so, and resigned himself to a final battle in which he was ultimately vanquished. He referred to himself as a ‘slave’, unable to ‘transcend Moebius’, and with his last breath expressed bitter regret.”

”Don’t forget about the other one.” Roxas finally piped up after spending a long moment lost in his own head about the whole “resetting” thing. But now he was finally ready to get back into the conversation, ”I think he was called C, right? That demon guy who was manipulating the debate between Armstrong and Shinra. He was down there too. Waited until after we took down Y before he made his move. What was his real name again?” Roxas paused to think about it, looking between other members of the Midgar Team for a reminder. ”Chaos… something? Right?”

“Happy Chaos,” Goldlewis confirmed, himself somewhat happy to be distracted from the cycle of life. “In fact, he’s from my world. Responsible for a serious international incident, too. Stormed the White House and held world leaders captive almost single-handedly. I ain’t fully informed, but they say he’s the one who gave the world magic.”

”Consul C, Happy Chaos.” Zenkichi summarized, then shuddered. ”Didn’t even fight us, just turned one of his little minions into a monster and then…he made us fight an illusion. Or…maybe it wasn’t an illusion until the end, but he used my old boss as a meat shield and just rode off into the sunset. C just…wanted to cause chaos.” A mixture of anger, disgust, and despondence permeated his voice. His failure to save Konoe was clearly weighing on Zenkichi, and he fell silent again.

”I can retell what I know of Consul P that we met in the Underground.” Sectonia said, getting herself ready for a longer explanation. ”When it comes to Consuls, P is dead, I saw to it myself as I stabbed his ‘Moebius core’ as he said when he died. He ruled the city called the Home of Tears in the underground and was, for all intents and purposes, a spoiled evil child with the ability to change history at a whim. If he was any more intelligent about it, things could have gone poorly.” Sectonia said, retelling of their defeat of P. ”The important thing learned from this encounter, is that whatever makes them Moebius is an object or core, perhaps something replacing their spirit in its entirety that acts as a weak point.”

”Hmph, he wasn’t the only brat we defeated down there.” Ganondorf interjected. He’d been standing over in the corner of the crowded common room this entire time, arms crossed and only listening. But since the topic had finally shifted to the Under, he figured now he had a place to speak. ”His sniveling cohort, F, was a brat too. Begged us for his life after we slew his pet Guardian. We tried to take him prisoner but the blasted little bastard managed to slip away from us.” He paused to take a breath in order to keep himself from sounding too angry about that, but the fury and hatred was still very much in his tone as he added. ”I won’t be making that mistake, again. Ever.”

Therion's ears twitched, feeling a little called out considering it was he who'd stopped Primrose from executing F at the time. But going forward, he'd be taking a page out of the King of Evil's book.

”I suppose we did get something out of dealing with F though, the power structure or lack thereof of the Consuls, how they all interact with each other, and which ones to be more wary of. ” Sectonia said, at least salvaging the situation a bit.

Elsewhere around the table came an awkward chuckle. "Heheh, funny you should mention that," Pit said, sneaking a glance at Ganondorf. Going into this meeting, they'd all known there would be new information to share and some disturbing truths to wrestle with. Pit just hadn't expected that he'd had anything like that to share until about twenty minutes ago. He looked up at the ceiling with his eyebrows scrunched together before speaking.

"There's another Consul too. S, the one Ms. Fortune mentioned earlier? If that really was him that we ran into, then he tricked a bunch of people into attacking us. But then he kind of warned us about the other Consuls, and..." Pit looked back down at the other Seekers. He squeezed his folded arms together tighter for a moment before dropping them entirely, splaying his hands open as he said his next piece. "Now he's kind of like, a good guy? When I talked to him, he seemed like he really regretted what he'd done."

While Sandalphon tilted her head in curiosity, Ganondorf shot a look at the angel. ”Explain!” He demanded, unwilling to put up with any shenanigans where the Consuls were concerned.

"It's just that, he said he didn't have a choice and he tried to change the whole 'Moebius' thing from inside, but it didn't work. And now he wants to help us," Pit replied. Despite everything he'd heard so far, he sounded like he was willing to give the Consul the benefit of the doubt. Which was more than some could say, understandably.

"And you believed him?"

While Pit tried to put together a response under pressure, one of the bystanders relieved him. With his unmistakable style and impressive stature, the mercenary Vandham would be recognizable as Tora and Poppi’s friend to anyone who set foot in Alcamoth before. “Oi! Lemme give ya a missin’ piece of the pictcha,” he interrupted, speaking in his typical Australian accent. “That benefactah that Mistah Dickinson mentioned? That’d be S. If not for ‘im, we wouldn’a made it outta Alcamoth alive, none of us. And when M popped in to finish us off, S fought by ah side, keepin’ us alive. I dunno ‘is endgame, but believe you me, if ‘e wanted us dead ‘e wouldn’a ‘ad to lift a fingah.” He shrugged. “Plus, ‘e bloody well turned ‘imself in when these Lost Numbah blokes arrived. ‘E knows ‘is mates’ll kill ‘im for what ‘e did, so now ‘e’s on the run, same as us.”

“A consul on our side, huh?” Goldlewis didn’t sound like he fully believed it himself, but the evidence he’d been given was hard to deny. “Could be mighty useful. Mighty dangerous, too. Hope y’all know what you’re doin’.”

”So he’s here? On this vessel?” Ganondorf asked, though it was obviously a rhetorical question. ”So be it. Then maybe he can give me an answer I’ve been looking for regarding the Flame Clocks.” He said, referring to the plan he’d come up with about destroying them. A plan that so far only half of the Seekers had been made aware of.

”Yes, more information about these Flame Clocks would be prudent. Perhaps they could have a use for us if understood fully.” Sectonia said, her plan being more to use the flame clocks to enhance her own power. Although if they had no use but to extend the life of the Consuls, she would agree with Ganondorf on destroying them if he proposed such an idea.

”The… the Dead Zone, you mentioned it briefly, right? Did it have a city called Redgraccoon city in it, made up of tall gray rotting towers, filled with undead and demons?” Minda chipped in with odd hesitancy with an oddly tangential question.

”that does seem like it fits the bill, yes? Why do you ask?” Kamek enquired but instead she pushed

”and, have any of you seen Consul D? Blood red armor, top of the helmet a bit like a captain’s hat, black cape, pair of bone white spurs coming down the chin like fangs? Aristocratic tone. Magic user. Drinks something that definitely wasn’t wine”

”Nope! Consuls are kinda a more recent thing.” Blazermate said, chipping into the conversation since she was there for the whole dead zone before it went boom. ”I wonder if it going boom took him out too?” Blazermate said, trying to get a cheery thing out of that wasteland of zombies.

”I think he was visiting, only there to claim the contents of the clock” she said, before explaining ”the reason I ask is because, well, I didn’t see or meet either of these places, nor til now know about flame clocks. I dreamed about them, in vivid detail, one night in Midgar, a dream that ended with me dying at Consul D’s hand after I’d conquered the entire region and ended the cycle of war fueling the clock in the process. So if what you say is true, about us living over and over, and if these things I dreamed where true and real despite me having never seen them in this life, then, well”

”Maybe the ones we’ve lived aren't as gone as you or he thought”

It would have been easy to write off someone's dream as just that, a dream, now matter how relevant. However, Asgore himself had told some of the Seekers that they could be a glimpse into past life times lived. And Midna wasn't the only one with a similar experience.

"...I had a dream like that too," Therion said. It had been more like a nightmare really, and the added context made it even more horrifying, which showed in his darkened expression. "Except I didn't work with her. The Consul I saw. I don't know which one it was, but she had a... demonic looking mask, a spear, and commanded lightning. She slaughtered the entire village I was living in. Then I woke up. I thought it was just a really realistic bad dream."

He'd left out some things he'd seen and preferred to keep private, especially if it could have actually happened at some point. The smell of burning and blood had certainly seemed real.

”I thought it was odd, whenever I have a dream about dying it's always … him” she admitted without really intending to ”but with this I’m pretty sure that is what it means. Which means that the Consul are the ones stirring up the violence, and anyone wins a war, then they just wipe out the winner and start things up all over again”

Nadia winced. “Ugh. It’s so depressing.” As she thought over that further, her ears flattened in alarm. “Wait. In the Deep Blue Seaside, we more or less won the war for Limsa and the Azure Navy by taking out the Abyssals’ commander. So if they have no more war to fight…”

“Their Flame Clocks will run out,” Sandalphon realized. “If their Consul doesn’t finish them first.”

“...Uh oh, hehe,” the feral laughed nervously. “Guess we, uh, better add a visit to the to-do list. Make sure Lisma’s not Lomin-scuttled.” The realization that even the places the Seekers had saved might not be safe did little to improve the general mood, and the dead air that followed Nadia’s badly-timed pun lengthened into an awkward silence.

"That looks fun! Hope no one falls though..." Blazermate said, seeing how they'd be getting back to the Avenger. Surprisingly, with all the stuff in the City, air travel wasn't one of them so Roland was apprehensive about all of this. Meanwhile Sectonia was heavier than the weight limit of the Fulton, and instead told Blazermate to 'call her' with a phrase so she could teleport up to the Avenger. There was no need for a "if you don't..." with the medabot, as she so far had been pretty subservient. Out of the two that went up, Roland walked off the Fulton when they arrived in a daze, while Blazermate was cheering at how fun it was before remembering to summon Sectonia on the deck, the Bee Queen appearing through a large pink portal much like how she summons her Antlers.

Once they all got onto the Avenger, they followed the others to what Blazermate called 'The Super Spirit Chamber!" and with that respec orb that Sectonia's group had found in the Under, they got some kind of super respec spirit machine up and running. Nadia decided to go first, and once she came out, she looked a lot like how she used to. "So thats how its done?" Roland said, trying to work out what was going on. Sectonia was much more interested in this though, as this device would allow her to make herself even more beautiful with these spirits, maybe even with this and the Snackvator, broaden her horizon of spirits to allow her to get some of those that seemed to have sold their beauty for greater power.

"Oh, Me! Let me try this whole thing! I've got new spirits to fuse with anyway. And I've got ideas on how I should do that, it should be really cool!" Blazermate said as she saw Ganondorf and Falcon have their turns, grabbing her two pity spirits of Anduin and Shadow Demon and leaving the rest in the spirit pile for everyone else to sort through. Blazermate wasn't sure how this respeccing thing would work, but it felt like swapping out parts without actually doing it. "So now everyone can be a medabot! This is cool!" Blazermate said as she fiddled with the Resonator with her old and new spirits. Granted, her Medabot base nature didn't give her the same resonance effect as everyone else, instead just fusing more spirits to her parts.

Coming out of the chamber, Blazermate looked at her left arm and right arm, two parts that had been changed. She waved her left arm in front of her to see the cool shadow effects, while she noticed the crystal on her right. "Huh, I guess the healing spirit went to the healy arm, and the demon went with the demon. Cool! I wonder if I can eventually look like some JRPG final boss or something!? Imagine fighting THAT in a robattle!" While Blazermate's resonance was a lot less useful compared to the others who had gone before them, Roland decided to give it a try after the... frankly concerning things the medabot was saying. He only had 2 spirits to try, after having read their books. Although handing books instead of spirits got a strange look out of the operator of the machine, but he shrugged and gave it a try.

Roland came out and immediately went to a mirror. Great, he now had blue skin and yellow eyes. He looked like a freak! But considering what that robot girl looked like, he wasn't surprised it didn't go over too well. Well, at least he was a bit stronger looking now, although in his line of work muscle didn't mean much with how the augments of the City worked. Hm... That Bee queen was into beauty, perhaps she had an idea on how to fix the 'skin' issue, the yellow eyes he was OK with. He'd have to give these new augments a try either way, and at least they were really high quality ones, not the low quality one that Ganondorf used on his minion with the genetic mutations and all that.

Last out of everyone was Sectonia. She wanted to get a good look as to how everything worked. Plus... She knew she wouldn't get everything right on the first go. Beauty was hard work, and she wanted to make sure she was happy with what she got. And of course spirits that didn't play nice with, she'd have to get rid of or use the Snackvator on, depending on what was more appropriate. Still, she knew that she'd be taking some time so best not to hold everyone up. At least Ganondorf gave her an interesting little benefit in this fairy... bug... thing that had some interesting powers. His intelligence over Bowser made him easier to deal with for her sanity, although Bowser felt like he'd be easier to manage if she took over. Quite a conundrum all things considered. Did he and Midna finally settle their scores?

When it was her time, she went to unfuse and refuse, having done the unfusing once before. Although now she had the power of the Resonator on top of the Snackvator to fine tune her look and get something she liked. Since she had been selective of her spirits before, she didn't really need to un-fuse with any of them unless they misbehaved, and decided to give her pity spirits a try. There were no downsides, and from the looks of her second pity spirit, while it was draconic in nature, it was a dragon that loved beauty which should help a lot.

It took here some fiddling with the various methods of fusing at her disposal, much to the annoyance of anyone who stayed to watch, but eventually she got something she was happy with.

With Sectonia satisfied, she left the chamber to go socialize with the others on the Avenger, letting them bask in her new radiance. Much like the others, the spirits that no one else claimed she threw into a pile to be dolled out to those who wanted them. She was in a good mood now.
I'm bad at backstory stuff. One of the few platformer mascot lost numbers I'll be making.

Blazermate

Blazermate had enjoyed herself all in all with the minigames, even though she only got 4 tokens. She had no desire in the costumes in the other room, as being a medabot, she'd just get better costumes from the spirits anyway or useful items for herself or her allies. Walking over to one of the orb dispensing machines, she put 3 of her coins into it and pulled the crank. Using 3 of her coins, she pulled out three orbs from the machine, getting...

Blazermate wasn't sure what their enigmatic host meant by the third orb being 'super good' in Blazermate's words, but soon she understood looking at the third one. Well... maybe? To be fair, her first spirit was some edgey anime lancer boy, the second was some tentacle anime boy, and the last one was some sort of demon made of shadows. According to Ballyhoo though, the third spirit pulled would be really good and adhere to the desires of the person who pulled it? So was this demon like, really good at helping allies or something? Well, she'd see later. If only she had 2 more tokens, she could try the pity thing again and see what she got.

Seeing Blazermate staring at the machine with 1 token left a bit dejected, Primrose approached her offering her two tokens to use. "Thanks Prim! Let me know if you want any of the ones I get. Hopefully I can understand this pity system thingy." Blazermate said, taking the two tokens with gusto and putting them right into the machine, happy she got a second roll of the dice here. Turning the crank again to get another set of three balls, what she got was...

One was a strange hamster looking thing driving a balloon thing? And another being a lady riding a blocky motorcycle? These were some weird spirits! But they were the normal ones, the pity one was what she wanted to see. And this time it was some... well, Blazermate couldn't really describe it. Some kind of warrior priest boy? Well, the kindness radiating from the spirit was for all to see, although something about the spirit made it seem like it was a bit off as if it was from a different place and time than it should be.

With her spirits gotten and her coins ran out, Blazermate took her little capsules of spirits and waited for everyone else to get done. Apparently many people were going to pool their spirits together and dole them out based on what spirit would fit whom.

Roland

Level 5 Roland (Holding 1 Level up) (6/60)
Location: Carnival Games
Word Count: Under 750

Roland did pretty well in the games all things considered. Sure he didn't like the whole 'exploding into confetti' thing, but it wasn't actually painful. It was an actual game in VR, not like some weird horrible murder game like hes seen before. Curious at the costume room, Roland decided to give it a look having won 7 coins, leaving 6 for the spirits which would give equipment. He'd really prefer to have his two piece suit instead of his current combat suit if possible; looking good at what you do in the city was important for a high level fixer. Looking like a slob wasn't going to get you many jobs even if you were the Red Mist, nor would it let you fight well.

It wasn't difficult for Roland to find a costume that matched his original outfit, although he read the disclaimer on costumes before he bought one. It did what he wanted, which was rare; any outfit or equipment he put on himself would be 'hidden under' this costume when applicable, but would still be fully active. After that, Roland went to the machines, having seen Blazermate walking away with her 6 orbs. Wait, didn't the bot only win 4? Someone must've given her tokens, well... thats reassuring. Roland went up to his machine and operated it, getting a first series of spirits

The first thing he noticed when he got his spirits is that unlike the others, his spirits came out as books. This was something he was much more used to, and knowing how the library books worked, he flipped through each book to learn a bit about the spirit contained within. The first was a red dragon girl with power over fire and lightning. The second was a dog. An ordinary dog, with what seemed to be extraordinary mental attacks. All walks of life, Roland mused, before flipping to the book of Grimstroke, his 'pity' pull.

This book hit Roland a bit harder than he was expecting. The story of an appointed guardian of his people trying to intensify the power he was granted, only for it to whiplash and cause everyone he knew and loved to be inky shades under his control. Unlike a madman though, he still held love for those he knew, although Roland assumed he was a bit mad. The inky powers were quite strong though, wails of the spirits silencing foes and being able to bind or copy enemies in multiple ways. Interesting book.

Roland then put his books away and put in 3 more coins, getting his next sequence of spirit books.

Roland's next pull was an old knight with a shield. All in all he was pretty plain. The second one though was also simple, but more interesting. A raging minotaur cursed with unending anger. But beyond that he was simple, these two not the first super simple books hes encountered. The last one was more detailed like before. And yet it was another book that resonated with Roland, someone who lost his family to an unforeseen force and was out for vengeance against what took his peace away. When they said these pity rolls would resonate with the person who rolled them, they weren't kidding.

Well, unlike the others, Roland had books, many of which he might not use. He wasn't sure, but watching not only the medabot but the queen bee holding onto theirs instead of doing something with them right away, Roland followed suit. Maybe they were all gathering their loot and splitting it evenly perhaps?

Surprisingly, if it wasn't for Sandalphon, Sectonia was on track to winning that last minigame! Even she was a bit surprised that tree disguise worked as well as it did. Well... at any rate she got 7 coins, so she had some stuff to buy. With the spirits being the origin of power here, she'd be spending 6 coins on them. The lsat coin... well, she spent quite a lot of time looking over the various costumes to see if she could find something she liked. She did find some royal costumes, but they were not exactly to her liking; there were a massive lack of heart shapes on them for starters as well as a lack of heart gemstones! But for some temporary stop gap until she found something better, she took one of the royal queen costumes just in case somehting horrible happened later on.

With her costume choice set, SEctonia then went to the spirit gotchya machines, and put in her first three tokens.

The first spirit here was something Sectonia wasn't interested in besides perhaps crushing it, a sentient tank. The second one was some robot sniper girl, perhaps if Sandalphon properly apologized for her conduct last game, it would make for a good spirit for her. The last one however was something she didn't expect, nor was she happy about how it looked. Some... weird almost zombie like guy in an ornate outfit? She'd have to really decide on this one as perhaps the snakivator could make use of it, but for a pity it was very strange and not what she expected.

Well... the first pity had to be either incredibly powerful to make up for its ugliness or something that synergized with her or something, but ti wasnt' something she was particularly happy with. Still, she chalked it up to a possible fluke and deposited another 3 tokens to see what she got after mulling over it for awhile.

Her second pull was some cat humanoid with... wind powers? It was unclear to her. The other non pity pull was some mech girl with a gun, almost like the previous one she got. Well, with Susie also being on the Avenger, perhaps she could make use of this? But it feels like for some of these, crushing them would be best. The last one, being her 2nd and last pity was something she didn't get a good look at, as her mulling over the costumes prior and now the previous pity before pulling more didn't leave her time to view what was going on with this one as the others were leaving already to head back to the avenger. She'd have to view it there.
Blazermate

Level 13 Blazermate (Holding 5 level up) - (27/130)
Location: Carnival Games

Blazermate wasn't the best at hiding. She would be an amazing seeker, well, she was one already, but her Scan ability would make her really good at finding the others. But perhaps thats why she was a hider. She could at least leverage her light weight and agility to get into a more obscure spot to hide though. Also being one of the smaller seekers, she could hide where no one else could, so that could be really interesting. Plus she was also really fast, so she could make for a good dash if needed.

Using her agility and flight, Blazemate tried to find something that was high up. That... was difficult since she was just a tad bit bigger than most of the props high up. That did give her an idea though.... The idea wasn't to get seen right? Well... why did she have to hide as a prop? She just had to keep out of the vision of everyone and she'd be fine! And who ever looked up at the rooftops anyway? Or the rafters of the inn? She could just move about the rooftops til time was over. She did have a plan B if she got chased as well that should buy her a ton of time as well.

Sectonia

Level 12 Sectonia (holding 6 level up) (6/120)

Having spent her time observing the shenanigans of the others, Sectonia wasn't surprised when she didn't place. She didn't make too much of a big deal about it either as it just wasn't her game. The next game however, she would at least give a good try, although it seemed a bit strange to her.

A hide and seek game. This was a game Sectonia was inherently against as she wanted to be seen, but now she had to hide? It seemed that every game was against her here, she just lucked out in the video taping game. But perhaps luck was part of it, something she wasn't really happy about. Well, time to give this one a try. Watching the shenanigans the others got into did give her a bit of a chuckle, it was like watching a circus perform at times so there was that.

Sectonia was torn between the flower house and the mansion with the statues. So much so she took a bit of time deciding before eventually deciding on the flower house for the atmosphere; however she did send an Antler to the mansion to stand as its own statue to perhaps make people think she hid there. Finding a plant that was big enough to hide her royal personage was the other difficult thing. Most plants couldn't really fit her, except a tree which was difficult to place. She gave it a good old try though, and perhaps no one would find her although she could teleport away if things got bad.

Roland

Level 5 Roland (Holding 1 Level up) (3/60)
Location: Carnival Games
Word Count: Under 750

Roland was a bit annoyed with the schoolgirl robot for making such a huge mess out of the last game. Well, only mildly annoyed, he conceded that she was just having her own fun and no one got hurt so it wasn't all that bad. And overall Roland knew she had a good heart, something that'd get her in trouble one day. He took his consolation prize without much complaints and got ready for the next game.

So the new game was hide and seek huh? Well, hiding was something Roland was good at for once. While he was pretty average so far with the games so far, this was something that he was great at. He didn't specialize in stealth, any fixer that specialized in something only ever made it to grade 3 at most unless they were just leagues above the average fixer like Kali. But he was better at it than most, well, as good as you could be without getting the Head's beholders involved...

That did mean though he had a good idea of how to stealth and where to go. And with his silent movement, he could reposition if necessary without much fuss as long as he wasn't seen. He started his hiding in the pottery area as it would be pretty easy for him to position his new 'pot' disguise in a good spot that looked natural. If the seekers got suspicious, he could just slink off and go to where they had already been. After all, you don't look where you've already been until way later. Finding a decent sized vase, Roland positioned himself to make himself look like in in a spot that seemed very natural and his silence made not even his breathing audible. Even more so with him finding a spot behind other pots to be a 'tree lost in the forest' as it were.
Blazermate

Level 13 Blazermate (Holding 5 level up) - (26/130)
Location: Carnival Games
Word Count: Under 750

Having this be her first time driving a car and her relative inexperience operating vehicles, Blazermate was acting more like a kid at a bumpercar ride, instead causing chaos by trying to smash her car into others with a gleeful "Whee!" as she drove by and her targets swerved out of the way, being much more skilled than her in most regards. Still, she'd try all the fun tricks and would often be either the first or second wave of sabotage that matched the koopa troop in their attempts to mess everyone up. Although she never saw Falcon for more than a few seconds as that guy was moving with great skill and she couldn't crash into him even if she tried.

Although her little joyride would be over pretty quickly once she tried to use the emergency break to turn and managed to do a bunch of doughnuts before spinning out, her car twirling through the roads and wedging in Roland's car, making it unable to move and basically taking the two of them out of the minigame. "Whee, that was fun! Never drove before, nor do I get to let loose like that!" Blazermate said, swirls in her eyes.

Sectonia

Level 12 Sectonia (holding 6 level up) (5/120)
Location: Carnival Games

Sectonia was one of the under performers of the group, although in her case it wasn't due to lack of knowledge of how to drive a car, but more so because she had a delay between changing her speed or breaking. She also wasn't really enjoying having to driver a car; so far these minigames haven't really been her thing and she was only trying for the potential power and beauty that was said to be at the end of this trial. But with there being so many people and only three winners, and her poor ability to drift or do anything that the forerunners could do, she lost more and more interest with this game as things went by. She did find it a bit amusing though as she saw the koopa troop Nadia, and Blazermate trying to mess people up instead of playing the game normally.

it was a bit interesting how when she had little interest in the game itself, she could sit back and enjoy the chaos that unfolded. So much so she parked at a higher up area a bit away and just watched what happened below. She already knew she wasn't going to beat Falcon and the other urban knowledge drivers as they had passed by her a few times. Blazermate managed to take out Roland, from the looks of things, and Falcon skillfully dodged everyone trying to take him out. Nadia was duking it out with the new person... what was her name again? Jura? Really it seemed like outside of a couple people, everyone else was just doing whatever they wanted.

Roland

Level 5 Roland (Holding 1 Level up) (2/60)
Location: Carnival Games
Word Count: Under 750

While Roland was one of the few who didn't need to learn how to drive, he wasn't an expert at it. You often didn't need to do any kind of combat driving as a Fixer, with firearms being pretty rare in the City, so it was more used to go from point A to B. Plus some people just had augments that were cheaper than cars that let them move way faster and not be exhausted or even teleport. And then the backstreets were often pretty narrow or under construction....

Well, no reason to mumble about all that to himself as Roland just did a fairly satisfactory job. He wasn't as fast as Falcon, but he wasn't in trouble like a few of the others... or causing trouble like those who felt they had no chance of winning and were just having fun. Honestly, if he knew he was going to be a bit under the top placings here, he'd probably join in on the chaos, it looked fun. But while he was doing pretty well, having a fair amount of time left, that would soon come to an end as a spinning out of control Blazermate crashed into his car and wedged herself and him in between two buildings in such a way that there wasn't a way for either of them to get out in any reasonable timeframe. One would think if this minigame was more realistic or from a different place their cars would've exploded form this.

"What the hell?" Roland said as he got slammed into the one way alleyway by Blazermate. The medabot giving up on her little joyride as she looked very dizzy, but also pleased with herself. Roland could only look out his window, chin in his hand as he waited for the minigame to be over after giving it a bit of a try to get out and finding it pointless. "Well, at least one of us had a load of fun." Roland said, wrapping his fingers against the edge of his car as the timer ticked down to nothing and Blazermate giggled like an excited schoolgirl. Well, she kinda looked like one, so that made sense.
