501st barracks, subsection C

Sophia peered out the window overlooking a frantic and chaotic scene of people desperately trying to ready themselves for the upcoming invasion. Although she was not sure if it was merely because they were to embark on yet another attack on Endor, or if they were frightened and exhilarated at the chance to see Janus Miriya. Sophia’s eye turned to an ant, scurrying along her window ceil, carrying away the crumbs from her chips. She willed the ant to stop using the force, causing it to thrash about in a desperate attempt at getting free. “I wonder how many of us ants has she crushed to maintain her position for 1000 years”? The ant thrashed about with all 6 limbs, in a desperate attempt to break free. The girl's head tilted as she said, " Hmm is resistance integral to you simple beings and not us humans, or do human beings crave subservience to a higher power"? She mused with a dejected energy, before her concentration was broken upon hearing the final call siren, which blared throughout the barracks letting them know it was almost time to embark upon their parade.

Moments later she stood over her bed, staring down the various pieces of indigo and white armor. Even after a decade of training under the empire, she still couldn’t get over how light the stormtrooper’s armor was, as she tossed a piece up and down using one hand. “What was a symbol of oppression...now I must don this infernal demon carapace”, she uttered, just below a whisper reflexively. She held her palm out, as if to concentrate her attention on the chest piece. Her fingers completely straight, contracted inward to make the chest piece rise from the bed. Using both hands, she maneuvered both pieces using hand gestures to wrap herself with the armor. With each click, she moved onto the next piece.

As she completed her task, she shivered every now and then. “This shit is more comfortable than my skin…”, she paused and trembled. “ but err..that’s wha’...what makes it so damn creepy”, she said before the final rallying bell boomed throughout the barracks. Last was the coronet, which fit her just as naturally as the rest of her armor. She stood there for a moment and ran her fingertips against the plastoid headgear, which lacked all the technological advancements of her armor, but still was eerily as comfortable and natural as her own skin.
Her concentration was broken by the sudden intrusion of her bith friend, Bara’k. “ C’mon ice queen, get your ass into gear”! The semihumanoid’s pitch black eyes peered deeply into her mind, sending goosebumps down her spine before making Sophia jump a little. “ Y-y-yes sir”! Sophia charged forth, tripping over her own boots before making it out of her room.

She found herself perched upon steps of a grand place, at the head of a corridor of palaces stretching as far as the eye could see. There in formation, she was overlooking throngs of coruscant’s citizens eagerly awaiting their dark queen. Part of a small group of ex jedi and force sensitive knights, she was directed to stand upon the palace’s steps overlooking the 501st and the audience stretching for what seemed to be miles long. Sophia maintained her posture and overlooked the view, taking note of all the big fish on the wings of the palace's promenade. She felt what little power they leaked out and gulped, but none of them compared to Janus Miriya when she burst onto the scene. The crowd roared, sending seemingly a thunderous boom toward the dark queen. Sophia flinched, as if she expected to be crushed by the cheers and expectations.

In that moment she was buffeted, she saw the others drawing their lightsabers, prompting her to join in a few seconds late. The delay was nothing to the average person, but anyone trained in the force would notice her glaring mistake. Sophia’s saber was a dark red, humming rhythmically just inches from her face, as she held it upright in front of her face.

Janus strolled with a grace that left Sophia in awe, the pressure making the young girl’s body ache. Her voice although projected by the force, was not harsh and rough as if she shouted, but rather, it was received if she was having a one on one conversation with every single person there.

Sophia seemingly had an iron cage around her heart for the past decade. Most people who met her enjoyed working with her because of the clear work ethic and dedication the teen possessed. Much of her peers, even the most scarred ones, made it a game to predict when her mask would slip. Revealing a vulnerable and malleable girl perpetually adrift, but with a block of ice which encased her fragile heart. That was the girl most took her for, even the inquisitors who trained her personally. However, something was different today.

Sophia’s gaze was affixed upon Janus as she went on about the former emperor and how cruel he was. A spark lit up in her eyes, though it was not bright and fierce… but rather it was controlled but with a deep intensity. Her bith friend tried to bore into sophia’s mind via telepathy, but none of his attempts seemed to shake the girl. Her mind was affixed upon the arkanian, who she saw as threatening as sidious himself. However, something shifted in her mind when yoda was mentioned. Although Sophia spent most of her life on coruscant, she was originally found and recruited on a jedi homeworld that was decimated by yoda’s zealous actions.

Her grip on the light saber wrenched until she started to tremble without realizing it. Yet the memories of being stuck on a homeworld that was impoverished in the name of the light, caused her to nashed her teeth together. A darkness overtook the light within her, causing her defenses to drop. Sophia was drawn deeper, by the magical voice janus projected as she spoke of reforging the empire, much akin to forging the impurities from steel. Deeper the hatred became in her heart, causing her lightsaber’s core to become blackened. It was only when her neighbor grasped her shoulder, that she trembled and snapped out of it. The darkside receded once more, suppressed by her intentional invocation of the light.

“Yes...long live the empire”, she said as the crowd erupted into cheers for their defacto queen. “I will stamp out the republic, if only to prevent another yoda from rising from its ashes”.

My roll results:
9
17
13
10
13
8

Not bad results at all, plenty of room to multiclass if I wanna.

I have half a mind to mix the fey pact thing into something else, not even like a warlock pact, just something in the character's story where they were tricked by fey or something of the sort.

Haha I love the rolling system on this site. Also those are not bad rolls at all. If you want me to incorporate the fey into the story itself, I can do that as well.

as for your comment, I see where you're coming from. I dont want to force anything, but I know how badly an rp can be gummed up in the intro phase lol
This story takes place at the heart of the kingdom of Avenfall, king's watch. The home of it's monarch, situated near an ancient roaring river which is often mistaken for a lake due to its size and ferocity. It is where all other towns and cities converge upon for trade, commerce and communications. In this world one must toil away at the land in order to build a life for themselves. Those who want to escape that do tend to save up or take take up apprenticeships for positions such as bakers, craftsmen, and soldiers. However, there are the crazy few who put their lives on the line to be pioneers, formerly called adventurers. Their job is to take care of all the dirty jobs the kingdom doesn't wish to get involved with.

As a pioneer, one might be tasked with subjugating a horde of orcs ambushing caravans. While other times you may be exorcising a witch or hunting down a murderer. There's no limit to what the pioneers are tasked with and as such, the amount of money they make is generally proportionate to the difficulty of their job.

Welcome to the ooc. Just follow the site rules and I will keep track of the convo if you feel lost. The first thing I'd like you guys to do is discuss how you want to meet. Personally I don't mind if are a band of brothers who fought together since childhood or happen to meet randomly at the adventurer guild and happened to want the same quest. I just don't want to see the rp stagnate because of the speed of it and the greetings phase. :3

trust me, one of my rps didnt work because the players didn't work this out. So ic none of their characters were interested in eachother and the group never formed LOL.
Are all the PC slots filled?

I will pm you if we have someone drop out, but yes we are full for now.
@Bacon is fluffy

Since we've decided on idea three, that we'll be operating out of a guild hall in a town, have you come up with a name for the town?

King's Watch, will be the town's name. :3

@Expolar I think the basic enemies you'll find are going to be rather easy to kill hp wise, but when it's apprpriate, there will be more difficult enemies. Such as a boss monster or an enemy human commander who may have been manipulated into thinking you're evil. However when the situation calls for it, even a minion who can be 1 shot might be deadly if not addressed properly. :3

so rest assured, we will have a mix of it all as you mentioned. :3 As for npcs, everyone is welcome to make as many as they need to facilitate their plot ideas. If you want one to be real important, it can be given a character sheet when I post that too.

sorry guys, I meant to reply last night but I got home at 1 am from work lol
Yep, I think matters like this are kind of why I like GMs that involve more the characters and other content players bring to the table. I don't think it's good to just move my characters because "oh that's what the script says", but if you pull the strings that I weave into my character's personality, goals and backstory I will play along and probably go wherever you want me to XD

Last time I ran a game no one introduced outside ideas as they rp'd. They were mostly reacting. This is what I usually expect and am prepared to accommodate. Because if you were making all the ideas, then wouldnt you run your own thing?

That being said, I always encourage players to bring in their own elements and control npcs that I didn't make to craft a story.

That being said, I may prod you and force you into a corner. But you're always welcome to surprise me or set things up. For instance I may corner your character, but my ic villain might be killed by archer fire from his flanks. Because even though I know theyre there as the gm, my villain is working on the knowledge he knows. So feel free to be as creative as you want within the bounds of dnd. I'm not a purist, but can be.

trust me, half of what I just said would be heresy on dnd beyond.

where do I put the ooc lol
Is it ok that i've got pre-made sheets?

Yes it's fine as long as they can be translated into pdf or are already pdfs. There's nothing particular about this rp where you absolutely need a fresh sheet. Maybe next time I'll go more custom with the world like my old one where the god of the sea was siphoning energy from the land and causing an extinction. :pikalaugh:

On the character submission thread I'll write up an opening post that also acts as the context for the world youre going to be dropped into.

Not gonna lie, I do like feeling powerful, definitely way prefer that over nerve-wrecking challenges, but it isn't like I have to be some powerhouse to have fun. I just like to have a lot of possibilities and choices, that kind of freedom, and I don't like when the game makes me feel like I'm being punished for existing or for interacting with the content. So I'm fine with both the power fantasy version and the more balanced version.

As for the type of quests, I'm all for more social and more urban quests. I don't dislike fights per se, but I feel like the story and where characters shine as characters is more in interacting with NPCs and with a more complete environment. Quests to find, craft, investigate, talk to etc... Though of course, incorporating the characters and who they are into the story trumps anything and everything in my opinion.

Oh yes, please at least 3. 1 is just....extremely boring.

I read you loud and clear. We will start at 3. :3

Also my quests are usually a mix of investigation and problem solving. For instance I was thinking of having my players in a previous game deal with kids who were thieves, but they had magic. So they were always escaping. So the problem which usually is a bunch of orphans stealing bread now involves being shot at with fire balls and illusion magic as theyre running in a crowd lol.

I definitely plan on posting slower to bring you guys much more needed context. I want the immediate world to be interesting and malleable. So like i'll create a guild hall and you have the choice of looking at the leader board. Talking to the woman who burst in tears begging for help. Or going to bed after eating dinner. You'll be given hints and things to explore, both subtle and not. And it's my hope you'll explore the world ooc and ic.

When I watched dnd videos, I heard about dungeons where you had to ask 20 questions and investigate every nook and cranny. And while I dont expect everyone to investigate every piece of furniture. I hope that when I lay clues, they might be checked out. and when I create a blacksmithing shop, that people buy stuff and maybe take his quest lol.

but there will be plenty of badass moments in this rp where you guys will literally change the landscape just by doing the quests. :3 How much you change it, depends on your ambition.

> Will we be using milestones or XP to gain levels?
> If we choose the starting items option rather than rolling for gold, are we allowed to sell items we don't want and buy items?
> While they are from official content, it was brought to my attention that the backgrounds from Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica are a little controversial because they add spells to your spell list (in other words, they expand the number of spells you can pick from for any given class). Would these be allowed or banned in the group?

> Yes you can sell whatever. I will give them prices based on a website's database to encourage players to buy things for completing quests. One quest you may need ropes and climbing gear. The next you might need oil and torches. another you might need magic gear.
> It won't be banned. I just need to read up on ravnica. I don't like banning things as long as its not outrageous. So as I said before, if youre lets say a druid with wizard skills or completely new skills not in the default set. It's fine as long as I can find it on a database and see what it does.

Three start is best start.

Roger that boss.
@Ideaomg I almost forgot I believe you asked about stats. We are going to roll for em. :3 It makes things more interesting that way
@rush99999 I was thinking 1, but up to level 3 sounds good to me since I know it opens up subclasses for paladins and stuff.

@Borosev The isekai thing was a joke because they're all powerfantasy characters for the most part. But yes I was asking if you guys want that kind of thing. Ofcourse it won't be without consequence, but it is an option nonetheless. :3

also balance is fine to me. So we have 1 guy who wants to fight a lot and another who prefers balance. I think I can satisfy both easily.
