Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Required Character Sheet Info

Name: First Last
Home: Town, State/Province, Country
Appearance: Picture and/or Short Description
Personality: Short Description
Biography: A few short paragraphs.

Those are the basics. You can add as much extra info as you like and format however you see fit.
Hey! I would be pretty interested in this concept! Let me read more into it and I will fill out any criteria and think more into the idea.

What do you want to know? I'll go ahead and post the character sheet guidelines now.
I made this late last night.

So bumpidy bump bump.

Maybe it will have better luck this morning.

Plot

Within the infinity of the multiverse, there lies a parallel Earth where Pokemon are real. Set nearly a hundred years into the future and combining Pokemon technology from the games/anime, life on this Earth is much different than it is today.

For example, you need to be at least 30 years old to become a trainer, BUT due to advanced medical technology, humans age at a much slower rate. A 30 year old in this world would actually only look about... 10 years old. *wink*

Once you've become a trainer, life is quite similar to the anime. You can compete in battle leagues and contests. You can become a breeder or a ranger. The world is your Cloyster.

However you decide to spend your time, the International Pokemon Association will be there to aid you. They provide free services such as health care (found at Poke Centers), free items such as Pokeballs (found at Poke Marts), and a number of other things like free transportation. Poke Centers and Poke Marts are found in practically ever city and town in the world.

In return for the free aid, trainers agree to carry out assignments, which are sent directly to your Pokedex. You may turn down assignments, but of course, turning down too many will result in your loss of trainer status. At which point, you will no longer receive free services or items.

The Gist of Things

In this RP, you can be either a new trainer or an established trainer. You can travel anywhere in the world and catch Pokemon or any number of things you can imagine.

To get started, you're going to need to post a character sheet in the Characters section. There isn't much required information, and formatting of your sheet is up to you.

But before even that, you'll want to decide where you're going to start your Pokemon adventure. Simply let me know where you would like to start your character via an OOC post, and I will tell you what is in the area, including Pokemon and things to do. If the things in that area don't sound interesting, pick a new location.

Once you've chosen your starting location and had your character sheet approved, you are free to start posting in the IC section. To accommodate more trainers and keep things moving, keep posts short: three short paragraphs at most.

I will try my best to respond to every IC post, especially when your character moves to a new location. The only time I might not respond is if two trainers are interacting with each other and not moving anywhere. All that said, if I don't respond to your post right away, you don't have to wait. As long as someone (anyone) posts after you, you are free to post again.

The pace of this RP will be determined by the majority. In the first IC post, I will keep track of the day's date. Whenever things get quiet, when people aren't posting very much, I'll push the timeline to the next day, week, or even month. It all depends on the situation.

Game Mechanics???

I have decided to take out most game mechanics, in favor of focusing on the story telling. For example, catching Pokemon and leveling up your Pokemon are completely up to you. All I ask is that you be reasonable. Don't go from newbie trainer to Pokemon Master over night, or anything ridiculous. I will be telling you what Pokemon are in your area, then you can take it from there.

As for competitive PvP battles, you have two options:

Option 1: I can look at what level your Pokemon are at, do some math and random number generation, and come up with a winner. This is the best option for people who can't be online at the same time. I can do this for the whole battle, or for each Pokemon matchup.

Option 2: You can both go to Pokemon Showdown and recreate your battle team there, in the Anything Goes format. If you choose this however, it is your responsibility to look at your Pokemon on Bulbapedia to make sure that the moveset you choose for them is possible (considering whatever level they are at).

Any questions?
If not, here's one for you, "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
@Balthazar007 Rebranding the RP sounds like a good idea, but I don’t think I’ll be joining since my plate’s a bit full right now. That said, I hope you find new faces in the Free section!

I understand. I have quite a bit going on as well. I'm still on the fence on whether or not I'll even go through with it. We'll see. Good to hear from ya!
@Dusksong@Cerces22

Hey you two, since this RP hasn't taken off, I'd like to make a proposal.

Would you to still be interested in this RP if I moved it to the Free Roleplay section and re-branded it "Pokemon: Earth"? I would dilute the plot a bit and just make it an alternate Earth, where Pokemon have always existed. The roleplay would be open to anyone, anytime, and the rules would be much more lax. All, new people would have to do is make a character sheet and start posting. You could keep your same characters, but obviously you'd have to adjust their biographies a bit.

I would be getting rid of missions in favor of a more free form way of introducing plot points. Basically, you'd live in the moment, and depending on when and where you are, interesting things would happen.

Right now, I feel like this RP is a wasted, collecting dust. I have items and Pokemon literally placed all around the world, based on the actual inspiration for the Pokemon. I really want this RP to come to life. Simplifying it and making it more accessible, might just be the trick. It would also make it less work on my end, compared to if it got going strong under the current format, where I would have to keep coming up with new missions that may never even be used.

What do you two think?

There ya'll go, a quick history lesson on Septoh. I hope you enjoyed.

Whoever posts next, you have one responsibility, getting Indigo and Margo out of the library. Ya'll can either reveal that the tree gave you a book. In which case, the librarian will tell you to keep it. That if the tree gave you something, it is now yours to keep. Or you can keep the fact that you were gifted this book a secret; they would never find out anyways. Either way, you can control the librarian long enough to end this conversation and get out of the library.

Whoever posts after that can end this IC day and maybe even start the next day. Up to you.

Thanks you two!
Arriving back to the first floor entrance, Indigo spotted the librarian soon. "Excuse me, sir?" He made his way over. "Just wondering... Do you know anything about this tree here?" He pointed to the massive, dark brown trunk not far away from them. "When they built this library, did they build it around this tree or..?"

The librarian Indigo stopped to talk to was a small elderly man. His wrinkled features made it seem as though he was frowning at all times, but his eyes shined with happiness.

The old librarian looked to the tree as he answered Indigo's questions. "Legend has it, this is the first tree, not only in Septoh, but in the entire world. While this can't be proven, it is safe to say that Zanna Town is the oldest town in all of Septoh. Geologists proved that to be true many years ago. This town was once an island peaking out of the sea. The mountains of North, Central, and East Septoh, rose out of the water many centuries later. Many centuries after that, the lower lying lands rose out of the water to connect the region into one giant land mass."

Before finishing his little history lesson, the old librarian turned his attention back to the two young trainers, a twinkle in his eye. "In almost every wise tale and legend about Septoh, there is mention of this tree. It is said that magical forces keep it alive... And yes, this library was built around the tree, not only as a spectacle, but also to protect the tree from anyone who would dare bring it harm... Not that anyone would, I would hope." The old man finished with a wide smile and closed eyes.

After a short moment of silence the smile on the librarian's face faded back to its normal frown. "I could go on and on all day about this place, but unfortunately, the library will be closing soon. If you don't have any books to check out, I'm going to have to ask you kids to be on your way so I can close up shop."
@Balthazar007 yeah, I loved it too! I love how creative they were with the pokemon in the settings. The Torterra garden was amazing, and the Loudred doing dubstep were hilarious. That said, the plot was a little convoluted and over the top, but seeing pokemon in this urban fantasy and depicted so realistically was just great to see. Bulbasaur was so so so cute!

I hope the reply was okay! Please let me know if I need to add anything more!

Your reply was fine. No worries. I'll put up my next post either tomorrow night or Tuesday morning. I'll be answering Indy's question about the library and pushing you out the door (in a sense), since it's getting late and the library will be shutting soon.

Your next posts will be between you two, as you decide what to do next.
@Balthazar007my apologies!!! This week has been sooo busy. Im working on a reply right now haha. For the next two weeks im still catching up with friends and family, so the replies may be every 3 days. I apologize for that! But your post was awesome and ill have a reply up soon! Did you see detective pikachu btw?

I saw it. It was fun! Plot and dialogue were a little under developed, but for a movie designed for kids to enjoy too, it worked. I loved seeing the Pokemon though, and Ryan Renolds as Pikachu was amazing, as expected.

PS: I just updated the time and temperature in the opening IC post.
