Jirai Lovic
"The Silent Derecho"Age:
26
Gender:Female
Origin:Eterna city
Appearance:Jirai's axilla-length hair is light blonde, marked by the occasional slightly darker strand. While her eyes are normally cloudish-grey, they seemingly grow darker when it rains.
She never goes anywhere without her signature bluish-grey cloak, which is specially woven to prevent her from being soaked even in the heaviest of downpours - and she is rarely seen with the hood lowered.
Personality: If you were to examine each member of the Elite of the Sinnoh region, you would most definitely come to realize that Jirai is the least outgoing of them all. Usually donning a visage of solemnity, she is visibly unmarred by most other emotions. She takes each battle - each duty she is bestowed as an Elite - very seriously, refusing to allow herself any distractions. If there is a task unfinished, she will be finishing it - or planning its completion with mental vigor, should she not be in the position to do so physically.
Despite being rather distant by normal social standards, Jirai is far from emotionless on her own time. She shows great affection to her Pokémon, sharing tight bonds with them, and is able to communicate well amongst them while forgoing most speech.
Beyond her Pokémon, very few people see this less rigid side. This is because Jirai believes that many battles can be won before the Pokémon are ever even released from their ball. By being one of the most mysterious and potentially one of the most unpredictable Elite, she can sow fear - uncertainty - into the thoughts of those who would oppose her. This also has a second, more
unintended effect of amassing her a weird following of individuals who want to try and see what's behind her stoic mask, or admire it.
If she were to allow anyone to see her softer side though, it would definitely be one of the other Elite.
Short Biography:Jirai hails from the ancient, respected city of Eterna. A city connecting the past and the present, it sees a good deal of activity - especially considering it sits in between a number of other cities in the region.
Having been orphaned to one of the older residents of the city, Jirai lived a fairly sheltered life. Her elderly guardian, Jessamine, was a strict woman - but still one of love and compassion. Throughout her childhood, Jirai grew up participating in and enjoying activities that one would usually attribute to an older person; sewing, knitting, watching soaps in a rocking chair, etc. Such...
thrilling activities were what she grew up on - what she enjoyed - at least, until she grew a bit older. As she started reaching her mid teens, she grew mightily curious of the world of Pokémon. She'd had moments of fascination before, but those were just that - moments - and the only Pokémon she ever interacted with were a few of Jessamine's cats. Eventually she couldn't take it anymore. She begged and begged Jessamine to help her catch a Pokémon of her own. At first, the woman declined outright - but she couldn't say no to that cute little puppy-eyed face forever. Soon enough, Jirai had caught her first Pokémon. A Golduck that she named Kimi.
After a couple years of growing curiosity and slow training, Jirai soon learned of a local team of villains known as Team Galactic. She'd never heard of such mean-spirited people. One day deciding to try and talk to one of the grunt of the group, she'd soon come to realize that not everybody in this world was as nice as Jessamine. The grunt and their Pokémon attacked and fainted her Golduck just for sport. Jirai sat on the ground and cried over her Golduck's unconscious body for hours, until Jessamine finally found her and dragged the both of them home.
From that day forward, Jirai swore she would grow strong enough to teach Team Galactic a lesson - and not just them. She never wanted anyone to go through the pain she had that day of being mocked for her weakness - she would deter all evil-doers from imposing their mean-spirited ways on the innocent citizens of the Sinnoh league.
After some years of training and making new Pokémon friends, Jirai was more than strong enough to teach those who had wronged her a lesson. But she knew it wouldn't be enough. She needed to help others, too.
She enhanced her training, her new vigor bolstered by the love of her Pokémon. Her strength and that of her friends soared, finding themselves more than a match for any ne'er-do-wells within reach. After so many years of training, she decided to put herself to the test and challenge the gauntlet of Sinnoh's best trainers.
Seeing as though she is a member of the Elite - she obviously succeeded, now using her position as an Elite to help her protect the people of Sinnoh.
A storm-loving, reserved gal who's sworn to carry out her duties as an Elite, and put down any evil-doers.
► Jirai adores storms and rain. It comforts her, and she finds it beautiful and inspiring - why is why she commonly allies with Pokémon who also enjoy it. Her battle gimmick is, obviously, rain.
► Jirai has no known family members, seeing as she was an orphan, and Jessamine passed a time ago.
► Has traveled to a couple other regions, after defeating Sinnoh's Elite.
► Jirai trains her Pokémon to listen particularly well through rainstorms - allowing her to issue commands without raising her voice.
