"That is a throw back," Liam commented. "Looks like we will be taking detours." Liam said. "Let's see, I should probably bring some fire power to my match." Liam was trying to determine who to bring for the fight.
Liam's Rotomphone chirped. "A World Coronation Battle has been scheduled!"
"That was quick," Liam thought aloud. He checked the message, "Oh, its Bugsy. It's been a hot minute since I've seen him." Liam said.

Liam has also reached Ultra Class in the World Coronation
"We still have some time before the tourny, we can delay going to Hammerlocke for a bit," Liam commented. His Rotomphone pinged to inform him of another compeitior in the World Coronation. Liam managed to win using Beckham and Duraladon, moving up to rank 86, and going to the Ultra Class.
"Well, now we have just one more badge in Galar to obtain" Liam said.
Liam went next. Piers called on a Scrafty. Liam called on Jiraiya the Greninja. Liam called for Double Team. He became a normal-type due to Protean and made many duplicates of himself. Scrafty used Scary Face to give Jiraiya a debuff.
"Hi Jump Kick!" Piers called.
"Jump, Jiraiya!" Liam called. The Greninja changed to a flying-type and leapt into the air, causing Scrafty to miss and crash. Jiriya did am aerial flip and landed Bounce on Scrafty, landing on its back, KO'ing it.
Next, Pierce recalled Scrafty and sent out Skuntank.
"Jiraiya, go underground!" The Greninja did so and avoided the Night Slash. He then leapt out of the ground with an uppercut, dealing a super effective hit. Skuntank retailaited with another Night Slash.
"Use, Water Shuriken!" Liam called. Jiriya launched the stars of water, becoming Water-type in the process. This was a critical hit. Piers called for Toxic. Liam called for Gunk Shot, but was too slow. Jiriya was badly poisoned.

"U Turn!" Liam called. The Greninja became Bug-type and smacked Skuntank before swapping out for Slushie the Alolan Sandslash.
"Night Slash!"
"Defense Curl!" Slushie rolled up into a spiny ball and cushioned the blow.
"Now, Earthquake!" Slushie leapt into the air and spun in a corckscrew jabbing the ground with his claw, making a great tremor, and KO'ing Skuntank. Malamar took it's place.
"Topsy Turvey" Piers said with a strum of his guitar. Slushie's Def became -1 instead of +1 as Slushie Used X Scissor, dealing considerable damage.
"Malamar, put on your light show" Piers said.
Liam remebering what this did in his research called out to Slushie to close his eyes. Liam blocked his line of sight of Malamar as he fished into his pocket for a Z crystal, plugging it in. He activated the Z Ring and struck the proper poses.
"Alright, since there's no Dynamax here, let's show Piers how they do things in your homeland, Slushie." "From the heart of Po Town, Use Savage Spin-out!" Slushie pointed at Malamar as strong threads issued forth, cacooning Malamar and blocking the lights. Slushie then spun into the caccooned pokemon, causing an explosion. Malamar was KO'd.
He sent out his last Pokemon, Obstegoon.
"Slushie, Brick Break!" Liam called. Slushie charged in to deal the double super effective attack. Piers simply said Counter and reflected the damage back, defeating Slushie. Liam praised Slushie for the attempt and recalled it. Liam sent out Beckham next.
"Beck, use Agility!" The Cinderace upped its speed by dashing along the arena, managing to avoid a Throat Chop.
"Pyro Ball!" Liam called. Beckham used his signature move and scored a direct hit and getting the burn. This time, Throat chop scored a critical hit, leaving Beckham gasping for breath. Obstagoon then used Cross Chop while Beckham was stunned. When he was able to move again, he used Pyro Ball. Obstagoon used Counter and knocked Beckham to low enough that Blaze activated.

Liam smirked, "Reversal!" Beckham did a lunging tackle at Onstagoon knocking it to the ground. Beckham then kicked off of it in a backflip, ending with kicking a rock into Obstagoon's head, KO'ing it and giving Liam the badge.

The gym soon came into sight. Liam turned to ask Marnie if she wanted to go first, but she wasn't anywhere to be found. Two Yell grunts blocked the path to the stadium floor.
"How did you get in here?" asked the female grunt.
"Doesn't matter, we can't stop them from facing Piers now that they are here," said the other.
Liam noticed that his Dynamax band wasn't acting like it normally did. "Interesting, does this gym not have a power spot?" Liam asked aloud.

He introduced himself as a Piers, and explained that he is the only Galar Gym Leader that doesn't use Dynamax. He also apologized if Team Yell caused them any trouble across Galar, they see Marnie as a hometown hero and want to see her win.
