Current I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

It really does come down to 5 is newest and I want to say the one that DND Beyond uses so it's most common.

I would agree with this but when 4E dropped everyone hated on it like a red haired step child. Oddly, it's seeing a lot more success now that WotC are too busy making 5E more horrible with other projects. Apparently a lot of people find tabletop intimidating and the ability to create a character in 10-30 minutes is really appealing to the dungeon crawl crowd.
There's a spectrum that tabletop has to grapple with. On one end you have the super ultra complex tabletop games where it takes hours to make characters but there's near limitless customization and combat abilities. On the other end is your more streamlined and simple "jump-in" games where you can create your character and start your adventure in the same night.

I too have a friend who will not shut up about how great 3.5E is when compared to 5E. But the the thing is that my favorite part of role playing is the actual role playing. Fighting has never been my favorite part of D&D and regardless of edition the encounters seem to take forever. This is especially true when it comes to the less enthused among us that seem to forget what their character can do every session.

I think 5E is the best version of D&D thus far. It's not as dumbed down as 4E, and it's not as rule heavy as 3.5E.

I also think 5E doesn't get nearly enough credit for handling non-combat encounters as well as it does. Sure, 3.5E has its customization options and countless perks, but it's a lot easier to roll saves and checks with 5E.

Of course, this is just my preference.

The dragon wasn't going to stop.

It would have been easier to deal with if any of them were swift enough to deal with. But for all of the strength Sorcha's knights had, none of them were swift enough to deal with a threat like this. They couldn't save the retreating knights because the dragon was able to move faster than they were. But something any good hunter knows is that catching a beast isn't a matter of being faster or stronger than it, it's about predicting its movements. Conversing with the newly arrived could wait, they had a dragon to snare.

Luana reached into her bag and chucked a handful of acorns between the dragon and the next group of knights it was going to attack. Nothing would happen when the dragon approached them. But once it was over them, the acorns would erupt into sprawling oaks, coiling around its legs and tail. Even if it was only snared for a moment, Luana could hurl her spear at its back, and the handle would grow into more swirling branches. This time working in reverse to anchor the dragon to the ground. She ran towards the dragon while lobbing more and more acorns at it. She couldn't defeat it, but if she could hold it down long enough someone would be able to deal a killing blow to it. Even as her seed supply dwindled she had to believe in the other knights.

It varies by the rule set the RP uses.
It's nothing I ever noticed, but it's just as Kuro says. If you hover your cursor over a thread title it says "You Participated."
I am a newbie when it comes to play by post?

I don't think this is a question, but welcome to the hobby.

How to begin?

You could look through the Interest check section of the forums and join something that has yet to start, or sign up to an ongoing RP in one of their respective sections. Just post in the OOC if an RP looks interesting to you and you want to know if they are accepting new members.

What is IC or OOC?

IC is "In Character" which is where the story posts are posted. OOC is "Out of Character" Where the players/GMs discuss things. If you want to ask to join an RP, you would use the OOC tab.

How to roll die?

roleplayerguild.com/campaigns

How to create characters?

This is RP specific, but it involves filling out a character sheet. You'll need to look at the OOC/Character tab of an RP to see what's involved.

What determine their stats/attributes?

See above.

Is there any book I need to buy?

Usually everything will be in the OOC, but if you join something in the "tabletop" forum, you may be required to buy a book for the game system they are running.
Yeah, I patched the user profile to fix an issue with large avatars bleeding into the user info list on mobile devices.

I moved the ratings table to its own row. It's not very pretty, but a better solution didn't rear its head so I moved on to other issues. If you have ideas, lemme know.

I guess on desktop widths, I could show the ratings table as a third column (avatar | info | ratings)?

I guess the issue is with how erratic tables are, as they seem to stretch with the with of the screen. I've solved this with my own tables by making some empty "dummy" rows that don't contain anything. That at least helps squish everything to one side. Of course, that's assuming the tables you're working with work the same way our tables do. I personally never encountered that issue on my phone, but if it's a concern I'd say to at least make the desktop version display everything the old way.

I don't know how to code websites, but I am pleased to see that QoL changes are getting implemented.
Alright, homepage status sidebar should now collapse correctly when loading the homepage.

It worked the first time I used it, I'll keep an eye on it.

Also the spacing for the post ratings on my profile page looks a little off. Unsure if that's just me or another crack in the guild code, but I'm reporting it.
