Are Medusa's body hairs actually just tiny snakes?

Bio

I'm a sucker for romance, sci fi, fantasy and just about any modern city with a twist like monster hunting or super powers. Been writing for years, I didn't learn how to read till I was 12 so the moment I got the hang of it, I could not stop. Filling journals with stories one after the other, my younger sister eventually got me into role playing and it created a monster. I will play with you all day if you reply, post for post and will give you as much detail as I can.

"Yeah, we'll be lucky if we can keep that place for a year. World wide disastrous have a thing for taking what is keeping you alive." Reena began to think of the words Johnny gave, he seemed like a loner, but an opportunist as well. There were just so many that she had to keep tabs on, Ethan originally was fine, but the man just lost his family. People tend to grow distant after that. "Hey, listen, you saved mine and James lives in the time we knew you. I owe you, so tell me if you need something, or if you notice anything."

Than there was Dallen, "you seem to be full of surprises. Came from a few hundred acer ranch, been doing stuff like this before I could read. Minus the killing of humans and, well, whatever they are." It was only right to give up something, she was a survivalist. Not as good as a shot as Dallen is, the man was a marine, trained for this kind of combat, the kind of world when people turned on each other. It kind of worried her. The way he stood, he seemed completely at ease, everyone else faired well but they still had some kind of fidget or shuffle. Even herself, one could tell she was worried when she kept making sure her crossbow was still there.
"Come on, faster we get back home the better."

It was a good thing they did, when they finally arrived at the end of the road to her farm. Reena began to spot the forms of Vader and Roach. "Guess they knew home was safe" jumping out of the car she began to look around, Epona whinnying from the barn, and Azazel inside. Now all that was left was, "Gandalf!" She called, trying to spot the gentle giant. He couldn't be that hard to find with his white coat and towering back. "Gandaaaalf!" Yet the horse was no where in sight, she was greeted by the mule instead, the animal nudging her with his head earning a pat. "James, take care of them would you please? We need to get some things settled, maybe go get Gandalf later, poor guy probably couldn't keep up and got lost."
Nodding his head, the boy left inside the barn, looking over his shoulder just in time to see Ethan once again vanish.

----

When the stranger came, they were met with the narrowed gaze of a red head. "Sorry folks, this here is for family only, can't go trusting anyone else." It was an easy lie, even easier with the slight accent she held. Her arms crossed and voice not made to budge, she could see from the corner of her eye, James watching from the hayloft.
"Your right, we do need to get this place secure. I got land, I got supplies, horses, everything someone would want and need." She couldn't be picky with her team now, Dallen was trained, he knew what he was doing. Johnny was a drug dealer, he had to have some kind of cut throat quality that would come in handy.
"Back inside."

She was back at her table, maps showing her property she began to draw on them. "I use these for the new kids so they don't get lost. Now, I got three gates, here, here, and here." Circling each one, the size of the property began to sink in. "Don't need to focus on that large of a space, what we need protected is the barn, shed, house and garden, so all this right here." Drawing in a smaller circle she leaned back.
"You got a good view in the hay loft, there is also a tree house right on the edge of the property. Thank gods this place is so far out of the way. But we're gonna need more guns. All I got is a 10mm, hunting rifle, and shotgun. Gonna need more than that, I'd say we could raid my ex's house......"

She grew silent for a moment the memory of the light leaving someone that was once so close to her burned in her mind. Still, she leaned back, taking a deep breath and continues.

" Johnny you met him, guy was crazy, but he was one of those game hunters and compensated with weaponry. It might be dangerous if his father or one of his buds are there looking for him. But his room is full of hunting equipment. Than there is the firearms store further in town, but that place may be cleared out."
Running a hand through her hair, she sighed. "Aright, who can I trust with going on weapon raids, and who wants to stay here and guard the place? I have to go track down Gandalf, if he's injured than he's going to start attracting something. If not, than we have a draft horse on our side still who's trained in pulling, great animal for this kind of work."

James was not paying as much attention as he should. Instead he was in the kitchen, cooking some eggs and toast. He wasn't the best, but at least it was something. Grabbing a bottle of ketchup, and filling a glass with juice, the kid walked up stairs to the guest room, laying the plat and drink down before knocking on the door and leaving. He knew Ethan needed space, but he couldn't let the man starve to death.
"He's just a kid!"
Ethan saved his life in the city, same as Johnny, he had a family. He was a good guy. James himself was never really close to his mother, the woman was always drinking, forgetting him, forgetting she had a child sometimes and so had to rely on Reena. Why couldn't she loose a family she would never miss instead of Ethan?
"Just leave the plate outside when your done....." His voice off, he began to scurry back downstairs. For once, a small needle prick of regret was stabbing at his mind.
"So many problems in such a short time." A sigh escaping her lips, Raven began to think. This was not good, already they lost a team mate, yes she did not like Graffiti too much but she had to admit her powers could come in handy. She only hopes Umbra dose not get a hold of the woman in the long run. No one should go through such torment.
They needed to work together somehow, to learn the inside and outs of each other's abilities and work off of them. To know where they excel and fail at. She couldn't help but compare it to her own partnerships in the arena. She knew everything there is to know about Loki, and because of that they are victors, but with a new animal she just met, she seems to come up short.
Its the same thing here, they don't know each other. They may as well be animals in a sense of the lack of communication, the only one she semi knows is Omega and that was by accident.

No need in worrying about it when there is nothing that can be done though. She was tired, her breathing was slowing down, and her legs felt heavy as she let them slump to the floor. She was a light enough sleeper when in situations like this, not the first time she needed to rest in the streets in order to summon Dullahan to get home safely. "I must rest for a moment, I shall wake when needed." Her voice tired and quiet, she aloud her shoulder's to relax, yet even when she allowed sleep to take her, Raven still found her hand to be gripping the ebony cane. She was lucky, this time she was left dreamless.

By the time she woke up, she heard Ditch ask for help in standing. Seems the poor thing was not yet at her full strength, standing herself she began to take in her surroundings. The others were awake, Ditch leaning on someone, most likely Omega, the male explaining how they should all go separate ways and meet up at HQ. Nodding her head, Raven listened, more will be explained back in their known territory. Least they had that, the entire night was like a spinning chair, you couldn't tell what was going on, all that you know was you didn't have enough strength to control it.
"Than I'll see you there, Ecto, Wraith, are you two well enough to travel alone?" She could at least take one with her if they were injured, better to be safe than killed.

----
The sound of a motorcycle heard outside of HQ, followed by the light bray of a horse. Raven began to dismount, patting the creature that to her, felt like lean muscle and soft fur. "Thank you my friend," Dullahan shaking it's neck, causing the motorcycle to shake slightly, she began to smile.
The place smelled different, fresh wood-shavings and oil, some metal as well. Trash no longer kicked up at her feet, and the tapping of her cane bounced off of what may be machines or supplies, who knows, maybe the place was already starting to be refurnished. "How are you feeling Ditch?"
She couldn't help but worry slightly for the woman. The amount of power that left her could not have been pleasant. The night full of stress and new plans having to be made could not be good.
I vote downtime.
About to take Ecto to the others. A calm pace and slow gate, it did not even take her five steps before the woman shot her head up. Power, a lot of it, coming from somwere...
Hearing the rushed steps of a girl dressed in worn out shoose. Raven turned to the others, "get down!" She didn't know what was going to.happen. But the pulse of energy and hurried fearful steps have told enough. It might be bad.
The Grim wasting no time, he took his stand by his master. Sheilding her from a exposion that caused her ears to ring in a slow, high note. Laying down for a breath, she tried to gain her thoughts. What had Ditch done? Were those her powers? They seemed to be more burden than help. To cause so much damage but at the users expense? Least it seemed that way, she could hear somone falling with the same grace of a corpse dying on their feet.

Omege following after, she stilled, the ringing in her ears causing everything to mix and blend. But she guessed someone was going to move.the fallen girl.
Heeding to the warning, Raven dispersed her Grim. It felt like a weight has.been lifted, the woman growing tired from having to
call her summons like that. Back to back, two at a time, using too much was a drain on the mind.
Instead, she followed after. Moving up the stairs, hand on the walls to steady herself as her senses began to function normally again.

It was best to wait things out. Taking a seat, her back against a wall she allowed her head to lull to the side. Still clinging to keeping her mask. "What shall we do?"
Her voice was quiet, whispered words meant for.herself. "we were fools out there. We cant continue on such a path...."

Instead, she just listened to everyone's breathing. You could tell a lot about someone by how they breath. So long as they eere close enough. The only two being, Ditch and Manny.
No, Omega, dont start things, hes Omega. Still the more she listened, the more sure she was of it being the fellow music enthusiast.

Ditch though.."Somone, please, expalined what happened while we were separated." She had to know, so much in such a short time. It was like being left in a new kind of dark.
"I owe you not a thing, tis a simple rule to help a comrade." Her words even, the woman brgan to still. Her breathing even, escaping in cool whisps back into the air. The grim was in contact with someone, holding a hand around his neck.

Lifting her head at the sound of Ecto, she simply shook her head. A slow motion as a smile appeared on her features. She must have been getting good if those who have already worked with her have not found out.
"Little on, I couldn't know what you look like, even if I wished it so. Though, we have known each other in one time, your voice sparks memory, i just cant figure out which one"
A hand reaching to her mask, she waved it across the void like sockets, a bit of the creation dissolving in a mirrage to reveal a open eye. Clouded red as if peering through a casing of fog. "My mask is the head of the raven. Comes in handy at times like this." Her hand brushing back, the mask took its place over her eye.
"Can you walk? Come i suspect that the Walker has been found."
@Blaine Crommet
I love how Ecto just talked to Raven Tale's wraith like it was a buddy of his, and Omega freaked the f**k out. XD

I just love the scene of omega just grabbing the grim when uts pulled past him XD
If Raven could see anything, she didn't show it, or seem to care that the male in front of her was naked. Instead she got right to work. Holding out her arm for the Phoenix that waited. Flapping its great wings, she felt its talons grip her skin.

Biting her lip at the sensation, she bowed a bit at the sudden weight. It was not the most comfortable but with a weak link like the one she has with the bird, she would.need whatever she could get. Physical contact helping greatly.
"Those tears of pain, take yours away." The bird looked down at Ecto, it was obvious it held great pride. Seeming as if it was trying to figure out if the vigilant was worth it's time.

Seconds seemed like an eternity to Raven. The sound of tear droplets falling to skin, caused her to let out the breath she had been holding. One, two, three, four, she counted each drop she heard fall. Each crystal like creation that fell, began to close the wound on Ecto's side bit by bit. It seems the bleeding was slowing down at the vary least.

The moment Ecto was no longer in critical condition however, was when the Phoenix gave out a small noise. Ruffiling it's feathers and dispersing without being asked to do so.

If felt like being kicked in the stomach when her link was forcefully closed. Her summons had to leave when both her and the beast agreed or else it was not the most cofortable. It was nothing she could not.handle, a groan escaping her she sucked in her breath before taking it in. "Sorry, hes sometimes not keen on the idea of companionship anymore."
Pulling on her coat, she found her fingers brush something warm.on her arm crimsion lines decorating her skin. A sigh escaping her lips she shook her head. "How are you feeling?"
She only hoped the others were doing well.

The grim stayed loyal to his current companion. Not struggling a bit as Omega grabbed him, its claws dug into the floor beneath. Tail up and fur bristiling at the sudden shift in the air.
Though it didnt stay the way for long. Eyes of green flashing, the beast used all its weight to move the male, just as a stone of rubble went passed where his head would have been if the beast did not act. A rumble in its throat, it waited for the others to move.

I'd might consider making a costume, but I wouldn't go on stage. I'm decent at public speaking now, but having people watch me in that way doesn't appeal to me. I am definitely an introvert, I'll say that for sure. I did find your Facebook page though, your costumes are very good! You have a talent for what you do.

Ha, nice. Maybe I should have just learned how to ride a horse instead of getting a Master's Degree :-P Even with the degree, the job market is very tough.

Enjoy your time at your convention!

Thank you! And hey, whatever floats your boat, all people from all kinds of back grounds and interests cosplay. Dose not have to be a comic or game or anime, can be literally anything so long as you enjoy it!

I've never heard of competitive cosplaying, that's interesting. I've never been to a convention either (it's the kind of thing I'd probably only do with someone else and most of my friends aren't into that scene). I did ride horses maybe once or twice, but that was maaany years ago (I was maybe 5 or 6) and it was because there was a horse farm right by my house.

Yeah its a lot of fun! You make your own costumes and document the progress. Take it to judges and than have to find a way to portray your character as closely as you can.
Sometimes cosplay is not for everyone, lot of work goes into it so you have to be dedicated to a character to want to portray them right. That or have money and commission someone. Though you can't take that on stage.
Been doing it for 6 years now. Hell if you look up Close Enough Cosplay on face book you'll find me XD

Been riding since I was 4 and upgraded to training when I found out you can get paid to ride crazy animals if you don't die! Can you believe that!? XD
@Zapdos
No problem in asking hun! I'm a competitive cosplayer and horse trainer. The gig I have is sakura con and next week is Comic con. I just show up and hang out with fans and host panels and tournaments since I was a veteran at the sport.
