Mai knew the risks...but this trap was more annoying that she anticipated.

With Setsuka stuck in place, she was now a sitting duck. Worse, she saw other frameworks going at it in Zone B directly behind her.

"...inefficient...", Mai muttered to herself. Deep down, she was mentally swearing to herself for such a rookie mistake.

Still, she had an idea but she needed to act fast.

"...initiating T system..."

Charging some green-ish energy into the Setsuka's hands, she then planted them into the ground where all the glue was near her framework's feet and litterally fired a blast, kicking up dust and dirt around her position. Hopefully, that would be enough to free Setsuka. Now though, she had no choice but to hold her ground since she didn't have time now to move to another zone.

Then, something happened to Mai...

...

...what's this?...

That's when Mai saw him...or rather "it".

...who's that?...no...I've seen this...before?...a Cruxi?! Here?!...wait, where am I?! This isn't the battlefield...and why do I feel...normal...why do I feel-no no! Inefficient! You don't feel anything Seven!

The tall-looking Cruxi looked properly dressed too. It looked like it was wearing a long red robe of sorts that went from his neck all the way down to it's legs. Some sort of badge or insignia on it's chest area...a weird-looking white helmit covering it's upper area, head included...

Then, it made sounds...like it was trying to talk but...the sounds...the noises...

...no...NO STOP! STOP IT! WHY...NO HOW AND WHY DO I "FEEL" LIKE THIS!? STOP!

Mai blinked as she wondered what just happened...but put her mind back in the battle as she waited for one of the pilots she saw at Zone B to make a move on her in Zone C if any did. Once she had a chance, she'd make for Zone D.

Back in the frameworks hanger, Mai's engineer and scientist team were using their PC equipment to monitor Mai. One "senior" scientist member of the team then noticed something. During that one moment when Mai fired that T energy blast into the ground, he saw something that caught his attention.

For around 1 second, Mai's synchro rate suddenly leaped all the way to what he thought was 100% synchro rate before just as abruptly lowered back down to 70%. It was fast so he couldn't say for sure until he reviewed the data later but...if true, he knew what it COULD mean...

After all, he had seen this happen before...

@Eisenhorn
...wow...need to pay more attention to OOC's...

Well I'm still here. Just waiting for my turn to show. Just let me know when it is...also feel stupid for walking into a trap area. I'm sure, deep down, Mai is mentally swearing "inefficient" for such a rookie mistake.
Just wondering. I asked Ariamis over PM but is anyone getting "Internal Server Error" message when you click on any RP topic in casual? When I'm not logged in, I get that blank page with that message on the top left of the page. Only reason I can log in here is because I subscribed...
Much like the other frameworks, the Setsuka took off and promptly landed in Zone A along with the others.

Mai just stood calm and quiet at all times...taking stock at the activity...there...

She saw the framework called Daemon do something she thought she'd never see again...not since her "other" division days...

Knowing full well what was about to happen, she decided to simply put distance from it immedately and "thrusted" towards Zone B. Behind her, she litterally felt the shockwave of the explosion as it rocked Setsuka but managed to keep control.

While on the run she spotted the framework Caliburn also doing the same but stopped amonst the pillars somewhere in the zone. Still, Mai didn't want to risk a confrontation just yet. After all, everyone was basically an enemy.

"Attention Cadets, the operation has been canc-"

"-The operation continues on, despite Cadet Stukov's accident. Let it be a warning to anyone who tries to surpass their Framewerk's limits. Carry on with the battle."

"...roger that...continuing mission...", Mai droned on the open line.

Not bothering to attack the Caliburn in Zone B, Mai weaved inbetween the pillars, Mai managed to reach Zone C. It was time to use anything to her advantage. Even the terrain if at all possible. Her initial plan was to get to Zone D. She knew the areas fairly well since she had studied before hand...but it was all the tunnels that she wasn't aware of...plus...she knew one of the other frameworks was a "recon" specialist type so she needed to get out of sight of it's air drones. If her luck held, she then TRY use the tunnels to her advantage if at all possible. Perhaps even find tunnels that could help her appear in other zones if she got especially lucky. But there was a risk involved.

Zone C was a total mystery to everyone...but now as Mai came upon it...she saw...

@Eisenhorn
Alright...let's see if I can handle this turn-based system.

EDIT: Ok pded but...did I use the "Metion User" function correctly? I had a little trouble setting it up right for some reason...
Mai merely listened to all the chatter going back and forth on the open lines. Some positive, some negative...some weird.

Mai Twilight, My name is Miles Vayne, I look forward to seeing how you and Setsuka perform in this battle, you may interpret that however you want, good luck.

Mai didn't bother responding to Miles message. Granted, his mind seemed on the mission but if some felt that Mai had trouble with teamwork and synenergy, they should probably have a look at Miles attitude. The man seemed to be out to do the opposite of what she thought of him: ruin a mission with his big mouth. He had the skill perhaps but...

Then the pilot called Koehler started, of all the inefficient things, playing some weird sounds on the open line...no...it was "music" of some sort.

Mai then switched back to a private comm link to block the noises.

"...inefficient behaviors detected...", Mai droned.

"Now Mai. Let them be. That's just how they express themselves and bond", a scientist on her team said.

"...music on open lines is inefficient. It disrupts communication between squad members."

"...well ok. The music would be...excessive I'd have to agree but Mai. People have their ways to express themselves, form bonds..."

Mai stood quiet after the scientist statement.

"...Mai?"

"...I'm not "people"...I'm a pilot...trained to kill...nothing more...nothing less..."

Mai heard the scientist let out a sigh before she switched back to the open lines. Once again, greeted by that music. She closed her eyes and tried to focus despite the chatter going around.

She can keep her focus. And even though she said that a 70% synchro rate was inefficient for the T system or "T-link" as she remembered some calling it, she can still use it. It'd just be at low output energy. Still, she can do some damage but overusing it may cause her sync rate to go down depending on the intensity of the situation at hand and if she hadn't taken damage amonst other factors. Some unknown factors as well tend to sneak up on even her.

But that was also why she was here...why she was in this division...she was here to better herself. To learn. To fight.

...to destory...to live...

Mai shook that thought off and simply waited for the order to launch.
As the pilots were mingling and talking, one girl had sat quietly in a chair at the far corner of the room. Not interacting. Not saying a word to show her presence. Keeping her eyes closed as if asleep. She merely was either truly asleep, processing whatever information she had studied or perhaps was merely waiting for the call to suit up. Regardless, she just continued to sit there...until.

"All personnel, prepare for the start of Operation: Mock Battle. Cadets, your plugsuits are in the changing rooms next to the Framewerk hangars. Suit up, prepare for deployment, and wait for further instructions. System checkups and communications are permitted."

On that announcement, her eyes opened. Standing up at attention, she merely walked out of the briefing hall like the other pilots and made her way to the womens changing room area. Again, she said not a word as she put on her plugsuit.

She then made her way out to the frameworks hangar where she approached her framework: Model Code "R-1" but codenamed "Setsuka".

For this pilot, she knew that she would be fighting three battles like she aways knew...with her enemies...herself...and her framework's combat system.

...remember seven...on the battlefield, a warrior must always remain detached...emotions will get you killed at the worst possible time...

Be it an actual mission or even a simple mock battle or training, Mai would always remember one of many harsh lessons like the one she just remembered from her old frameworks division. Granted, even she had once thought that they were harsh but she also admitted that SOME of the things she was taught held truth. But that's not what her new superiors wanted. They wanted teamwork, synching with pilots and anything to show that she was more than just a one-man army killing machine.

And she also knew that going through this battle solo would be suiside even for her. She WAS listening to the other pilots talk back in the briefing room but she wondered how long the alliances would last before one idiot decided to shoot his/her teammate in the back. After all, there can be only one winner. But to do this to determine a "leader"? Much like the other pilots, she had also mentally questioned that.

But her superiors had made her mission crystal clear to her...there can be only one victor.

As she approached, the engineers and scientists assigned to her mech waved as she approached. All of them simply saluted and some even gave her a thumbs up as if to say her machine was ready.

She returned the salute before she hopped onto a mobile lift. The operator then raised her up to the cockpit near the chest where Mai entered and promptly closed when she was seated. Putting on her special black helmit, she then started up her machine.

As Mai did the routine systems check, comm's check and the usual stuff, she then closed her eyes as the system began to run what one of her scientists dubbed a "synhro test check".

When it was finished, she observed the information on her main screen.

"...current synchro rate...seventy perfect...inefficient for T-link combat system...", Mai droned into her comm line.

"It happens Seven but like in the past, once the battle starts, it'll raise up due to your concentrative focus. You'll just have to use basic hand-to-hand tatic's if necessary but use your magnums when you see opportunities. In other words, the usual", the scientist on her team replied.

"...understood sir...standing by...", Mai replied.

Switching from a private comm link to an open one, she decided to see if any of the other pilots would be using it to communicate with each other.
Name: Mai "Seven" Twilight

Appearance:

Age: 16

Personality: Most times, stoic and android-like persona. She rarely talks without sounding like a drone or she lacks emotions. Most likely due to how she was raised and trained. She does talk when addressed or if she deems it necessary to speak.

Motive to live: Unknown

Background: Mai's background is rather mysterious but is considered one of the best up and coming pilots in the Frameworks Project divisions. Much of Mai's background is either unknown or considered classified but the story that's going around about her is that she was one of several "numbers" children that were trained in the early stages of the Frameworks Project when some thought that human emotions were a hinderance against the Cruxi. As such, Mai's personality may have come from the perhaps extreme training but some rumors say that the children were pushed to such extreme's that it was deemed inhumaine even for military standards. Hence why that Frameworks division was disbanded and Mai was transfered to Framework Project XJ9 division.

The goal was to help Mai with synenergy and teamwork with other squads but due to her personality, has trouble doing so. Thus the reason for the transfer amonst other reasons just metioned. Whether anything about Mai "Seven" Twilight is true, though, is another matter. A good pilot and mechanic.

Notable Deaths: Unknown

Other things: As stated, Mai was apart of a disbanded Frameworks division. What became of the other children is unknown but due to her perfect health and training, she was deemed worthy for Framework Project XJ9. But much is not known of her. Motive to live, Notable Deaths and Personal history are classified and only known by higher-ups of the Framework divisions.

Framework Code Name: Setsuka (Model ID code: R-1)

Appearance:

Signature Weapon System: Telekenetic System - Perhaps the most unique of the current Frameworks is to tap into the "energy" that comes from the syncho rate to weild energy amplified by this system. From the frameworks mecha hands, it can then fire it like beams. It can even keep the energy itself stored into the hands to either create "energy based" weapons like swords out of pure energy or simply increase it's punching power. However, this puts a ton of mental strain on it's pilot. If the pilot loses control, his/her synchro rate drops faster than usual along with losing this combat system since the synchro rate must be high enough to produce energy (60% or higher for low output. 80% or higher for higher outputs). Anything below 60% won't produce enough energy to weild. There's also a rumor that this combat system is actually stolen technology from the Cruxi modded for human Framework pilots and Mai is it's first test pilot.

Secondary Weapon System: On it's hips are a pair of mech-sized Magnum Pistols. Each holding 8 shots, the name itself implies high powered shots capable of penetrating high grade armor. However, accurracy becomes an issue past mid range and limited ammo capacity means "spray and pray" isn't an option. A good weapons set for taking out slow but heavy armored targets.

Armor Type: Medium

Special Ability: ???

Current Synchro Rate: 74%
Ok Ariamis. I dropped the shield/barrier ability back on page 6. If you think I'm ready now, I'll post that profile on page 6 up in the character's section. Any of the "Unknowns" you can also PM me idea's if you want to try anything.

Also...since the mock battle has started, in terms of story, you could say that Seven never showed up because she knew about the mock battle and it's supposed purpose but refused to show up. Probably said to her superior, "Leadership isn't my forte. The mission is all that matters." Or some other cold answer. But if you want me to participate somehow, I'll go with it.

Annnnd I just ripped off SRW -____-'. Honestly, trying to B.S. some high tech healing gun to auto-heal framework was harder than to explain the T-Link system for this RP....gah. I'm sorry but it seems I'm just holding myself and others up here. I guess I need help with this.

Though another idea I also had is that Mai is a framework tester and she's assigned frameworks/mech's based on mission objectives or simply testing old or new models but I'm sure syncho rates would drop because of this no matter how good the pilot. At this point, just tossing around idea's with this profile.
