Meanwhile, near the front of the base, two individuals can be seen. Though one with a headset around his neck is clearly seen as the new cadet in squad Sigma, Jake Armstrong.
However, it was the redheaded girl he was leading in that would more than likely turn heads. At the moment though, she seemed different. More...frightened than anything. But at the same time, determined.
"...Mai. I really think you should be recovering", Jake said as she continued to lead.
"I know Jake...but even though I don't like it, duty calls", Mai said, even sounding normal for a change.
And Jake knew why too. Much like he had been doing his "recon" homework on the cadets around squad sigma, it didn't take him much time to know the rumors about Mai "Seven" Twilight. Even back in the day when she was in his reconnisance division.
But it was the fact that...Mai and "Seven" were two different people that confirmed the reason why she was who she was. Why Mai was able to actually go out there and fight. To even take lives when ordered to.
Split personalities. And Seven was born due to the training in the first division she was in though not even Jake knew the full circumstances behind that. The "Helldivers" division. Even though Jake knew that the name comes from a digital game from a very old console back in the day, the name itself tells what kind of a division it was. But the seven pilots there were considered the best back in it's day.
But it was when it's director, Caulder, suddenly changed when he started making his pilots use some..."top secret" weapon or something even he had trouble finding information on. Just that it was "classified".
But now...it seems that it wasn't "Seven" that he was escorting into the base. It was the real Mai Twilight.
"...well let's go eat. I know your beat", Jake said with a rhyme.
Jake knew Mai was different when she chuckled at that. Back then, Seven had just glanced coldy at him.
"...Jake. Thank you but...you know being around me is trouble...I...don't exactly have a...good mindset", Mai then said.
And Jake knew why too. When he found out why Mai let "Seven" run the show most of the time. Why she only showed up on occassion.
Jake simply said, "Come on. Were almost at the cafeteria. I'll fill you in. Though I imagine the other cadets would want to talk to you as well."
"I know...just not about the...battle and what...happened...", Mai slowly said as she let Jake lead her into the cafeteria.
