Was talking to someone who worked in closed captioning who is now getting a new degree because so many companies are turning to AI to close caption now… Which AI is pretty shite at it still.

Games I haven’t been playing video games lately, but once I pick them back up again, I’ll make this list

Kiki laughs softly, a little nervous jitter to it. “I’m not uncomfortable with it, I just think you’re going to be really disappointed when all you find are granny panties.” Of course, that’s not all she has - she has a multitude of types and colors, matched perfectly to outfits she brought, but it’s not as if she travels with the Victoria’s Secret catalog in her luggage.
“Also, did you not trust me to cut a watermelon?” She asks teasingly, grabbing the blender to fill with ice first.
Kiki sheepishly looks at Avery. “Yes, please.” She says as a smile tugs at the corner of her lips before she turns her attention back to the fridge. “I love a good watermelon, it’s just so much work to juice them… I suppose for a smoothie was can just stick in slices of it though.” She leans down and finds one hiding in the back of the fridge and pulls it out as well.
He’s teasing me, right? “Only a tiny bit.” Kiki says with a playful glare before sidestepping Avery to get into the fridge. “Do you have any favorite fruits?” She asks as she pulls out most of the ones she can find in the fridge. Her expression turns into a pout as she realizes there’s no strawberries though.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu
Location: Nic & Ren’s Apartment - Chicago, IL Skills: Fit
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Nic tells Cass before finishing his sandwich and standing up. Most of the afternoon seems to fly by, with practically the entire downstairs finished. An added bonus is that they were able to get the upright piano into the apartment without too much hassle yesterday, so Nic is able to position it near the desk with Kiki and his mother’s things.
“Right.” Kiki say, still a little scatterbrained still as she heads down the stairs. Trying hard not to focus on the consequences of the deal, she asks Avery, “Are you okay with protein powder in the shake? You need extra protein, right?” She glances over her shoulder to peek at Avery and almost misses the next step. Right, don’t look back while descending stairs.
Together. Nero repeats the word to themselves. They are no longer alone - they have Caden by their side and (most of) his family, minus one curious sorceress. They lean into Caden as they tour the rest of what the island has to offer, thoroughly enjoying the time with Caden.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu
Location: Nic & Ren’s Apartment - Chicago, IL Skills: Fit
“I know that,” Nic says softly, eyebrows creasing inward and up as he half-smiled. “But it’s not an easy habit to break.” He grabs her hand and kisses it. “We can definitely talk about it more tonight at your place.” He promises her.
Kiki freezes as she has a mental debate in her head. Did she want to be there to explain anything weird he might come across? She’d probably be as red as the strawberries from last night if she were present… But on the flip side, letting him rifle through her lingerie without her there seems just as embarrassing if not worse. “Right, I would like to be present.” She finally squeaks out.
“When are we doing this?” Kiki hopes she’s still flushed from running and that she doesn’t appear too red.
Nero’s still not sure how they feel about their father, so they take Caden’s jibes at him at face value for now. Instead, they focus on the words Caden said towards the end. Survivor. “You too.” They tell him, peering up to smile at him. In the platform shoes, Nero can actually reach Caden’s shoulders, so they only have to stretch a little to reach his cheek and kiss it.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu

Nic shakes his head, but smiles gratefully at Cass. “Growing up, once he said it was final, it was final. For at least a few days or so until he forgot what he was mad about. I’ll need to let him cool off before approaching the subject again.” He speaks in a low tone before reaching over and squeezing Cass’ knee gently, wanting to use her as a grounding object for his feelings right now.
“I’ll see Kimiko tomorrow and bring up setting up a lunch, but if he does keep putting walls up and denying that he’s not okay, I will ask for your help, I promise.” Nic takes his hand off of Cass’ knee and cups her chin gently before brushing his lips against hers in a light kiss. When he pulls back, he smiles but the expression doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
Kiki sighs dramatically at Avery’s answer. When he starts drinking, she can’t help but watch how his skin glistens with sweat. Why did he have to run shirtless? “Alright, no complaining that it’s boring though.” She tells Avery while trying not to smile.
“I’m going to make a smoothie - do you want one?” Hopefully the straws were back in the kitchen by now.
Nero shrugs with a lighthearted smile. “Yes and no? I think it definitely filled in a lot of blanks for my childhood though. And you know me, I grinned and bared through it.” They smile widely to prove their point.
“Als die Schläger mich auspeitschten, gab ich keinen Laut von mir. Ich habe ihnen dieses Vergnügen nicht gegönnt.” Nero tells Caden, not remembering if they told him that detail or not. “So if that’s anything to go by, I’m sure nobody could say I didn’t try.” Their fingers trace a detail on one of the displays, their expression having fallen now.
When the bullies whipped me, I didn’t make a sound. I didn’t let them have that pleasure
Nicholas “Nic” Wu

Nic is just walking back to where Cass is when she turns. He doesn’t have time to slip on a casual smile to fake that everything’s okay. His brow is furrowed and a frown displays on his lips. His dad’s answers practically confirmed that he knew something that could answer why the family’s blessings were revoked… Why his mother died.
Of course, when he meets Cass’ eyes, Nic’s expression softens, but he can’t help the hopelessness he’s feeling. He hands one of the sandwiches to Cass before sitting down on the floor next to her. “It’s honey ham with cheese.” He tells her with a forced smile before he unwraps his sandwich.
“Well fuck.” Kiki says with a small laugh. “Am I allowed to comb through it before you do?” She heads inside Caden’s house and gets some water to chug, little droplets of it trail down her neck as she does. Most of her skin is still flushed from the run, but she’s finally catching her breath.
“Yeah it was.” Nero says in agreement to Caden’s armor comment. The latest memory showed them what they could only guess was squire or knight training. “Plus they never had my size when it came to any skirmishes.” They look over the display with mild interest as Caden talks. “I’m sure she’ll do that at the very least. Her love of nature and plants is too great not to.”

As Cass looks over the photo albums and such, Nic follows his dad into the kitchen. Since the floor plan is pretty open concept, he knows that Cass would be able to eavesdrop if she wanted to, but he wanted to corner his dad a little.
“Hey, earlier at breakfast, you were acting pretty weird. Is everything okay?” He asks in a low voice.
Ren waves his son’s concern off. “It was nothing, I promise. Just got caught up in my own head, you know?”
Nic doesn’t miss that his father keeps his back to him as he answers. The nurse narrows his eyes at his parent. “You can tell me anything dad.” Nic places a comforting hand on his dad’s shoulder but the older Wu shrugs him off.
Kiki feels pretty confident for most of the run, but once they were out of the trees and Avery didn’t have to dodge trees, he easily reached the house before her. Catching up finally, she puts her hands on her knees as she stops by Avery’s touchdown dance. “Bloody hell,” She manages to breathlessly say before standing up right.
“Double or nothing?” Kiki asks cheekily, her chest moving up and down as she still tries to catch her breath.
Nero wraps their arms around Caden’s torso to hug him for a moment after he puts his arm around them. They keep one arm wrapped behind his back as they wander. “Cassi scared the shit out of me that first day though. When she drew her own blood I had no idea what to think or do.”
Nero peers up at Caden with a big smile. “And then my knight in very-well-dressed clothes showed up and saved me.”
Nicholas “Nic” Wu

Nic enjoys the pleasant conversation, answering most of Cass’ questions. He definitely wants to keep his tattoo sleeve inspired by his family, his Chinese culture, and maybe some things that represented his love for nursing. He likes most food and will try anything at least once, just can’t digest lactose. When it comes to Nic’s career, he mentions a public hospital in New York that he wouldn’t mind working at, since it’s not privatized, but otherwise he likes where he is right now. However, he wants to avoid private hospitals that are only in it for the money. Around lunchtime, his dad comes home with sub sandwiches as well as some other groceries and things they need.
“Literal life saver, dad, thank you.” Nic stands up as his stomach growls. He had been working on organizing some of the bigger books on the bottom of one of the shelving units they had when Ren walked in.
“All’s fair in love and war!” Kiki shouts gleefully to Avery, unable to help but giggle. She can hear him closing the distance and she pushes her legs, feeling the muscles strain a little as she tries to run as fast as her legs can carry her.
Nero beams at Caden, absolutely agreeing that they are a fierce little imp. They can’t help the small blush that covers their cheeks and nose at Caden’s comment about when they met, though. “I assure you, the feeling was mutual.” They look around as they enter the monument, their eyes scanning all the details they could absorb.
Nicholas “Nic” Wu

Chuckling, Nic nods - it did mean more time together too. “That could work.” Nic says to Cass’ suggestion. “I think the hardest part will be merging everything from my dad’s with everything from mine.” He points to a secretary desk that sits against the wall opposite the kitchen. “If it’s something sentimental about Kiki or my mother, it goes over there. We’ll organize it once we know wha we’re working with.” He tells her, grabbing and kissing her hand before he lets it go.
"Duke Rhinecliff," Altina cooed. "I am glad you've spared some time to make merry with us." She leaned in closer, noticing the clamor of the party starting to drown her out. "By the by, I appreciate that shipment of wine you've sent my way. It was my uncle's birthday, you see, and we were in dire need of good ale."
"You absolutely must allow me to repay you for your kindness in the future!" - Altina
Nyx beams at Altina, a cheerful smile plastered on the Duke’s face as she listens to her speak. She lets her eyes twinkle as if the golden wine she holds has made her eye glossy with inebriation. She opens her arms wide, palms up as she chuckles heartily at Duchess Bastille’s words.
“Happy to help. I’m sure we can find some way you can reciprocate, but for the time being, let us be merry.” Nyx bows her head before turning to the Duchess of Caelin.
“Ah, Duchess Bastille, and Duke Rhinecliff. You flatter us both. I’m glad you were finally able to make it to one of the queen’s little parties,” she smiled, knowing her role she was playing. Her eyes twinkled playfully, with one last mischievous complement before they were interrupted by the court jester. “You wear that mustache well.” - Mirie
Nyx smiles widely, but her eyes narrow the tiniest bit at the audaciousness of Mirie to make a joke like that. Before she can respond, the court jester nears them. Nyx tries to keep her face neutral and pleasant as the jester puts on her little show.
“Your Graces,” She said songfully, addressing the Duke of Rhinecliff, the Duchess of Caelin, and the Duchess of Bastille. Before she conjured a small bird cage in her hands. She opened the door, and out came a small, spectral song bird, sitting joyfully on Duke Rhinecliff's hand.
“Please watch over this one for me, won't you?” - Court Jester
Nyx raises an eyebrow, but otherwise lets the bird sit on her gloved hand, watching as it chirps away happily before acknowledging the other dukes and duchesses that had come to present the Wizard Queen with their gifts. Nyx can’t help but glance at the other fae that’s entered the throne room. Of course, not many knew there’s more than one in the immediate vicinity at the moment.
A quiet chuckle escapes Nyx’s lips as she overhears Duke Willowsteel’s grumbling. He’s not wrong at all She thinks to herself as her eyes scan over the crowd. It’ll be hard to do much reconnaissance wearing the duke… I should have brought a change of clothes. She moves to join Willowsteel and Mirie in their conversation.
“Yep, just another cog in the machine. You agree with me, right, Duchess Agustria? There's little point to these except for us to feel small and be reminded of our place here, right?” - Duke Willowsteel
”As correct as you are, Duke Willowsteel,” Nyx says in a low voice and a wide smile that’s more of a warning than anything else. “Might we share this view of the court at another time?” After all, what good would it do for a possible ally to get himself killed before he’s of use to the rebellion?
