Phone Quest

Featuring Roxas, Bowser Junior, and Rika
Word Count:4145 (+5) (+5 rapport for Jr and Roxas)

After the meeting broke off, and people started slitting off, Jr was one of the first and most urgent to bail on the situation. He slipped out of his seat, hauled Dazzle over the shoulder (the one Mimi wasn’t occupying) from where the sea lion pokemon had been sitting in his lap, and then set off on his quest to get his new phone, Peeka floating along above him, and Rika casually keeping stride with his much shorter legs. Knowing exactly where the Koopa Prince was heading, Roxas hurried out of the crowded Common Room after him so he could lead him to where he was going.

Their destination? The workplace of the ship's very own resident pokemon professor; Professor Koa!

It was more or less a straight shot to where the Professor’s lab was located. They just needed to exit the Common Room into the nearby lift that they would then take all the way down to the second most bottom level, and viola, they were there! ”Professor?” Roxas called once he and Jr had entered the research lab. This elicited a casually dressed man to pop up from the pile of research material he was studying. Koa was not at all dressed like one would expect a scientist to dress. He had a typical lab coat, but that was worn over a black tank top and blue shorts, plus sandals on the man’s feet. Without that lab coat he’d be dressed like someone vacationing on a tropical island somewhere.

“Ah, Alola, Roxas!” Professor Koa responded with a warm smile. He got up to greet the newly minted Pokemon Trainer but was quick to notice the friend accompanying him. And more specifically, the Pokemon he was essentially carrying. “Another Trainer? Wonderful, Alola to you too, young Trainer. My name is Koa, I head the research department here on the Avenger, but I also study Pokemon for a living.” He said, already even leaning in to look more closely at the Brionne and Mimikyu Jr was carrying. But appeared to pay special attention to the Ghost Pokemon floating just above him.

”Hey there, you the guy with the phones?” jr asked ever so bluntly, before after half a beat adding ”Oh, yeah, and I’m Bowser Junior” and then pointing to each of his mon and introducing them as ”Peeka, Mimi, and Dazzle-” before adding regarding the last ”-who is going to go on the floor now because I am gonna have to rethink carrying you about” and then depositing the ghost tailed sea lion on the ground.

He dusted his hands off and then half turned to gesture back back at the ship girl who’d posted herself by the door to introduce her as well, saying ”and this is my sister Rika”

The ship girl who’s eyes had been roaming around the room flicked back to them with a ”mmm?” before she proved that she had been paying attention when she said ”Alo..la? To you too” to the professor, trying out a mimicry of his greeting for herself.

“Phones…?” Asked the Professor with a confused look on his face.

”He wants to ask you for a Rotom Phone.” Roxas clarified.

“Ah, that.” Professor Koa said and then smiled warmly. “Since we hardly get any Pokemon Trainers aboard the Avenger, I wasn’t exactly keeping a stockpile of them.” He explained, his tone apologetic as he rubbed his hand against the back of his neck.

”Awww what, come oooon urrrgh” Jr whined in frustration, before huffing that it was ”just my luck”

“But don’t lose hope, just yet.” the Professor quickly said and then added, “We’ve got the means to produce more thanks to Dr. Yu.”

”Dr. Yu?”

“She’s a technical engineer.” Koa explained. “All she needs to do is reverse-engineer an existing Rotom Phone and she’ll be able to figure out how to make more.” he said but had to also add, “There’s just one small detail we need to worry about. You see, the Rotom Phones get their name because they are phones that are possessed by the Ghost Pokemon known as Rotom. Dr. Yu can make the phone, but it’ll need a Rotom to possess it in order for it to become a full Rotom Phone.

”It's possessed by a ghost?”jr echoled, before going all starry eyed as he said ”Oh wow that’s amazing!” before pausing, sighing, and predicting ”but let me guess, you don’t have any of those either”

“Now now, simmer down.” Professor Koa requested. “I did have a couple of Rotoms in my lab to help with my research so we can use one of them. The trouble is, they can be very tricky and just love to bounce around between appliances and other electronic devices. But as long as you have a way to sniff them out, you should be able to round them up simply enough.”

”Hmmmmm” jr intoned tapping a foot in a thoughtful pose, before snapping his fingers and saying ”what better ways to catch a ghost than with another ghost!”

”Mimi! Peeka! Go find them for me!” he commanded, prompting both to tilt their heads at him as if to ask ‘ok but how?’

”Uh, um, I dunno? Use your like, ghost senses to detect them or something?” he tried, resulting in Peeka head tilting so far she ended up upside down.

Roxas instead consulted his Pokedex. ”Says here that Rotom is a Ghost type AND an Electric type. So maybe instead of a Ghost we need…” Roxas glanced down at Scamp, who by now had plopped down for a sit to be more comfortable. ”How about it, Scamp? Think you can help us track them down?” he asked, which prompted a ‘bow-wark’ from the Yamper.

“Won’t know until you try.” Professor Koa said encouragingly. “Try letting him get a whiff of your Rotom Phone, Roxas, maybe he can get the scent of Rotom from the one possessing your phone?”

”Well, Scamp?” Roxas asked, trying to hold the phone close to the Pokemon’s nose. ”You smell anything?” Scamp sniffed the phone several times, and for a moment it didn’t look like he was going to get anything from it. But then suddenly he hopped up with an excited ‘bow-wark’ and bolted off somewhere. ”Looks like he's onto something!” Roxas said as he hurried after his partner Pokemon.

”Alright! Let’s go!” Jr called out to his mons, rushing out the door. Then rushing back in to grab Dazzle only for Rika to helpfully pick up the beached mon up in one massive mechanical hand.

”Thanks sis!” he told her, the pair trading thumbs up before racing out the room after the Nobody and his Yamper, and Peeka who was casually drifting along behind the leading pair

And so the great Rotom Chase began. Scamp bounded his way around the ship until he eventually led the boys and Rika to the upper levels where all the different living quarters were. And that meant there were lots of different rooms with varying electrical appliances or devices for a Rotom to be hiding in. Roxas didn’t really like the idea of snooping around in other people’s rooms, but what else could he and Jr do if one of the Rotom just happened to be hiding in one of them? Luckily for them, the Rotom that Yamper was leading them toward was not in one of the private rooms.

Instead it happened to be possessing one of the washing machines found in the laundry room. And when Scamp barked at the machine, the Pokemon in question popped right out of it. But because it had been possessing a washing machine, the Rotom in question had taken on the form of Wash Rotom - giving it a shape that resembled a washing machine in addition to making it an Electric/Water type. But this wasn’t the only one. Another Rotom also popped out, this time from a nearby electric fan - giving it the fan-shaped Fan Rotom form as well as making it an Electric/Flying type.

Rika, seeing threats , promptly held her free hand out and summoned her spear into it, only for Jr to race up and after her with a ”Wait wait wait!” before declaring it was ”Pokemon battle time” rather than regular ruble time. He then thrust a finger forwards and commanded ”Go, Peeka” prompting his Flutter Mane to float down from above and in-between the children and the pokemon to square off against the haunted appliances.

”You too, Scamp! Let’s take ‘em on!” Roxas joined in, with Scamp hopping into a position with a bow wark, trying to sound fierce but not really succeeding given how inherently cute and adorable an electric puppy dog generally is. But regardless, he was ready for battle too. Now, if Roxas were a more experienced trainer, he would have known that both of these Rotoms lacked their usual Ghost typing due to the forms they were currently in. But Roxas was not a very experienced trainer yet, and so he still assumed they were Ghost types and gave his command accordingly. ”Scamp, use Bite on the fan-shaped one!” The Yamper barked in confirmation and lunged for the attack. But the attack didn’t look like it was as effective as Roxas was expecting.

”Blast the washing-machine-one with, uh, whatever you got from the tentacle eyeball thing Peeka!” Jr called out, prompting the mon to look confused for a moment, then to focus and then finally to recoil back as a pair of dark purple orbs were fired from its necklace eye.

The pair of shots slammed into the machine mimicking mon, and then split, each orb blasting off at a right angle in either direction, one narrowly missing the fan Rotom before both slammed into and scorched the walls of the room

”Oops”

Meanwhile, the Fan Rotom fired back with an Air Slash aimed directly at Scamp. The move connected, but luckily Scamp’s electric typing allowed it to resist the damage and shrug it off for the most part. But that didn’t compare to what the Wash Rotom did. It seemed to charge up or inhale a moment before spewing out a torrent of water aiming to blast Peeka with a powerful Hydro Pump.

The mon got out a “flu-” before the torrent of high pressure water washed the floating mon away, sending her blasting out into the corridor and into a wall. Fortunately as a ghost she went through said wall. Unfortunately as a ghost she ended up outside the ship and only narrowly managed to swoop back onboard. Either way she was out of the fight.

”uhhhhh” Jr entoned as he just stared back at where his mon had gone before snapping back into the fight ”ok but, right the washing machine’s water, duh, obviously”

He knew how to deal with that, calling out ”Go! Mimi! Give it an electro ball!” and prompting the mimikyu to leap from his shoulder while she charged up a ball of electricity in one claw, which she then hurled towards the wash-rom upon landing.

Roxas had a similar thought about the Fan Rotom. It using Air Slash must have meant it was a flying type. ”Go Scamp, use Spark!” The Yamper barked and bounded and rammed into the Fan Rotom while charged up with electricity. It may not have been super effective, but it seemed to be hitting harder than Bite did. And meanwhile, Jr had similar luck with the Wash Rotom. Electro Ball wasn’t super effective, but it appeared to do decent damage. And it also didn’t cause any structural damage, either.

”Yeesh, what type even are these guys?” Jr asked, to which Rika, currently leaning against a wall at the back of the room with her spear in one hand and Dazzle still in the other, replied by asking ”maybe the phone will tell you?”

”Uh,” Roxas fumbled with his Rotom Phone to find the results. ”The washing machine one is Electric/Water, and… the Fan one is Electric/Flying.” He said but then added. ”We’ll just have power through this, Scamp. Use Spark again!” Yamper lunged to the side to dodge an incoming Air Slash before he charged forward with another electrified Spark attack. It was about as effective as before. Clearly this wasn’t going to be a battle of type advantages, but instead revolve around who could outlast the other.

”Mimi use- ah! look out!” Jr called as the wash started spinning up its spin cycle. A moment later the hatch popped open, and another hydropump came blasting out. Forewarned by her trainer however, Mimi leaped out of the way and into one of the washing machines, using it as cover, getting only shaken up as the machine was hammered by the flow rather than also being blasted away.

”You good?” “mi!” ”OK! Now copy cat that move and blast the fan!” jr commanded after verifying that his mon was good. There was a brief pause as Mimi imitated the move, and then a moment later she and the regular washing machine she was in did their best impression of wash rotom by blasting out of it with a hydropump of their own, this one aimed squarely at the fan rotom. The attack landed, dealing a strong bit of damage though obviously not as strong as the Wash Rotom’s attack due to Mimi not being a Water type.

Roxas decided this was a good chance to pile on some extra damage to the Fan Rotom, ”Hit it with another Spark, Scamp!” He called out, prompting the Yamper to ram into the soaked ‘mon while electrified, boosting the amount of damage the attack dealt. The Rotom in question was practically overwhelmed having two attacks come at it so rapidly. After the Spark did its trick, Roxas grabbed an empty Poke Ball from his bag’s ball pocket and threw it at the weakened ghost Pokemon. The ball hit and opened up to pull the Fan Rotom inside and then began to wiggle. Once. Twice. Click.

”Gotcha!” Roxas cheered. ”One more to go!” Now it was two against one. As powerful as those hydro pumps were, the Wash Rotom would be running out of PP for them pretty soon, especially if it had to start firing them off at two separate opponents.

”Alright!” Jr cheered before pivoting around to face the wash rotom ”Now let’s fish this, because I’ve got something I’ve wanted to try!”

With that he held his paintbrush staff forwards, hand shaking as he built up mana in it, saying ”Mimi, take this power and-” before thrusting th staff up into the air, sending a burst of magic arching up through the air and down into his pokemon who’d hopped out of the washing machine ”show me what you can do with it!”

As the power suffused the little mon her eyes flashed like stars before her true form lunged for the wash rotom, tendrils wrapping it up and dragging it under the disguise that expanded to fit the washing machine. Once it was trapped in there, the specter within with delivered at dustcloud punchup before spitting out again, barely clinging to consciousness.

A perfect state for it to be bonked on the head by a pokeball and also captured by the prince.

The whole ordeal was a mix of horrifying and cutely silly, a vibe not helped by Roxas’ rotom phone helpful informing them that the Z-move that had just been used was called “let’s snuggle forever”

”What’s a ‘Z-move’?” Roxas wondered aloud to himself. Probably something to look up later. For now, they had to get back to the lab.

When they returned, they found the professor was no longer alone. With him, bent over a workbench, was a creature that would have looked mostly like an aline known as a sectoid had they not been covered head to toe in garments. Quite literally, as between surgical gloves, thick boots, a lab coat, a colorful patterned hooded shawl over neck and head, face mask across their mouth and welding goggles over their eyes, not an inch of skin was exposed to the open air.

Sparks flashed in the eyes of the figures goggles as she worked on soldered way on an open back of a phone, before she handed the tool she was using off to a lab coat and goggle wearing Audino that was acting as an assistant, and was handed the back of the phone case in turn.

They glanced up from their work, and then, in a voice that raspy yet still distinctly feminine, said “ahhhh, excellent timing, I feel you return in triumph” which was an odd turn of phrase, before introducing herself as “I am Dr Yu, the ships technological and biological researcher, and up until recently, also the person running the proving grounds. The latter is a roll I was quite happy to hand off to that lovely Tora fellow so that I can focus on studying all the technologies that have been poured into this great melting pot of the world I was created in”

“Still, as he is not yet set up, and this ‘procedure’ is quite the novel one, I am still the one handling the creation of the professor’s rotom phones” as she set down the phone into a stand and plugged it in to a cable that lead to a mish mash of circuit board and occult rituals circles that looked to be the perfect size to sit a pokeball in the middle. She tinkered with the set up a little while the Audino ran a long charging cable from it to the massive reactor powering the ship that for some reason was in the same room as the laboratory.

“If you would place it here, I can begin in just a few moments” she requested, tapping on the workbench counter rather than offering a palm to receive it from hand to hand, prompting Jr to toddle on over to do just that. When placed, the Rotom inside sensed the new device it could enter and traveled to it along the charging cable that was plugged into the phone. Then after a brief flash, the previously ordinary looking phone had transformed a bit. It gained what looked like a red outer casing with little swirly-shaped tails on each vertical end, plus a pair of googly Rotom eyes appeared on the back of said phone case.

“And there you have it.” Professor Koa announced, “Your very own newly minted Rotom Phone!” he said with a ‘ta-da!’ style gesture. “It can make calls, send messages, take pictures, and of course access the Pokedex App to help you identify Pokemon you encounter and provide you useful observations about their moves and abilities. And if red’s not your color, I’ve got a few different style cases you can choose from to switch it to if you want.”

”You do? Cool let me see” the prince replied, hurrying over to take a look, before turning and calling back ”and thanks doc!”

”Oh, we caught the other Rotom too, Professor.” said Roxas while Jr was choosing his phone case. He held its Poke Ball out for the Professor to take, but instead Koa just held up and hand and shook his head.

“Why don’t you go ahead and keep it with you for a while?” He suggested. “These Rotoms were probably running around because they were getting bored being cooped up in the lab all the time. So I’m sure it’ll do them both good to be able to get out and see the world some more.”

”Really?”

“I’m sure. Besides, Pokemon only allow themselves to be caught when they meet a trainer they feel they can trust. So obviously this little guy found something to like about you.”

”Oh, right. That was kinda my last ball so can I have it-” Jr said in the background, before going ”oh” at the totaled ball.

Before he could even turn to ask, Dr Yu informed him that “I reverse engineered the technology quite some time ago, so workshop already has the schematics to produce more if you can get them the materials they need” heading off any requests to get her to make replacements, before saying that “but if you have anything new and novel for me to take a look at I’d be delighted to learn how it ticks”

”Not unless there’s something you can do with my mask or my gauntlets?” Roxas asked, holding up his hands to show the modules in his gauntlets that produced the RockGun and StepSword respectively. And also retrieving the silver jackal mask out of his backpack. ”Of course, I’d prefer they not get totaled in the process. I kind of need those for my missions.”

“Not to worry, I am very meticulous when it comes to making sure I can put back together what I take apart in-order to research it” the doctor replied.

”I think I’ll have to do that some other time. I’ve got other preparations I need to get to for now.”

”We’ve got a ton of stuff you could look at, so we’ll stick around, right sis?” Jr said, getting a thumbs up of agreement from Rika

With that decision made, it looked like they’d be going their separate ways. But before Roxas left the lab, Professor Koa offered them one more bit of advice. “By the way you two, my own number is already registered on your phones in case you need to call me for advice or to rate your Pokedex Completion.” he said but then also added, “I suggest you register each others’ number as well, that way you can call or message each other even if you’re far apart on separate teams.”

”Good idea.” Roxas said, his own silver-cased Rotom Phone popping out of his back and floating just in front of him, as if waiting for another phone to connect to.

”Oh yeah cool we should totally do that” Jr agreed, popping out his light green one in turn which floated out to complete the connection. The two phones then automatically exchanged contact numbers on their own thanks to the Rotoms possessing them and then floated back into the possession of their respective owners.

”I guess the Rotoms are able to make the phones control their own functions, don’t they?”

“Indeed they do. Makes them very convenient and user friendly as a bonus.”

”Given that they can do that, do you think they” jr was saying, before addressing the phone itself ”or rather you, could float up and take a picture of us?” prompting it to bob up and down and then over into the air prime group photo taking distance, before bobbing back and forth in a ‘wherever you are ready’ kinda way.

Roxas struck a pose, holding up his right hand in a ‘V-for-victory’ gesture while resting his other hand on his hip, ”Cheese!” he said while grinning up at the camera. Beside him jr did a fist pump, and a moment later there was a flash as the phone took a picture of the two trainers and all of their pokemon together to commemorate their little adventure together. The phone even sent a copy of the photo over to Roxas’ phone as well.

Level 3 Captain Falcon: 16/30
Exp Gained: +2
NEW EXP Balance--- 18/30

Mafia Town

As for the good Captain, he would at least try to look for some bounty hunter work. But not before he made good on his intentions to have a quick bite to eat first. He walked around a bit, both wanting to get a lay of the land and to make sure he had sufficiently separated himself from the others. Keeping a low profile meant they had to keep away from each other as much as they could, after all. Of course, doing this just exposed Falcon to even more smells of food - increasing his appetite further.

”Huh.” Cap muttered when he spotted a restaurant that didn’t quite look like a lot of the others. The best way to describe this place was as a sort of “hole in the wall” type of establishment. It had little in the way of signs that made it stick out. All it actually had was a simple, red vertical sign with some kind of foreign kanji he couldn’t read printed on it in white - presumably writing out the restaurant’s name. Other than that and a small, similar horizontal sign right above the red door leading inside, there didn’t appear to be anything else denoting the place’s existence or even attempting to advertise it. Cap wondered how much business a place like this could get with such minimalist advertising. ”Well, what the heck. Let’s give it a try.” He decided as he pushed open the door and entered.

The restaurant was equally as unassuming on the inside as it was on the outside. Pretty small, small enough that just one or two people could probably run it any given time. Based on what the menu looked like, it was easy to tell that Falcon had found himself in a Chinese Restaurant of some kind.

“Welcome!” said the woman behind the bar with a smile. “Please have a seat. What can we get for you?”

Falcon skimmed the menu, thankful that it had translations for the kanji he couldn’t read. ”How about… Kanitama? And an oolong tea?” He decided after a moment of thought. A rice omelet seemed like a good choice for a breakfast.

“That’ll be 7 pons, please.” said the server, which elicited a blank stare from Captain Falcon.

”’Pons’?” Cap asked, caught off guard by the change in currency. The only money he had on hand was zenny, which he was now learning the hard way wasn’t accepted around these parts.

“Mhm.” the server confirmed.

”Ah, uh, please forgive me.” Falcon said as he went ahead and stood up. ”I just got to town and… I had no idea you used a different currency here.” He explained, now thoroughly embarrassed for having wasted the poor girl’s time.

“Oh, that’s too bad.” the girl said. “But if it’s pons you need, you could always apply for work with Crazy Eats.”

”Crazy… Eats?”

“Mhmm. They’re a food delivery service.” she explained. “They take orders from restaurants and hand deliver them to customers all over the island, with style of course. Just talk to Charlie, he’s usually around the beach.”

Cap wasn’t sure what she meant by the last part about style. He wasn’t sure how exactly one was supposed to deliver things “with style”. And while this wasn’t exactly the bounty hunter work he had been hoping for, at least it was a start. And besides, he could always try to look for bounty hunter work a little later after he earned a few pons to start with. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, after all.

After a bit more inquiring and looking around, the F-Zero Pilot indeed eventually found himself walking around where a beach could be found. Unfortunately he neglected to get an actual description of Charlie from the girl at the chinese restaurant. But Cap wasn’t deterred, figuring someone who delivered food for a living would almost certainly look the part - wearing some kind of uniform and piloting some kind of vehicle. So how hard could it possibly be to find this Charlie person?

And as it turned out, not that hard at all. Charlie turned out to be quite a daredevil delivery boy, with his bright green hair and the fact that he rode his bicycle like some kind of stunt rider while performing his deliveries. Suddenly it made more sense what the girl meant when she said Crazy Eats delivered with style. Once he got the chance, Falcon flagged Charlie down and the rider brought his bike to a screeching halt right in front of where the Captain stood. “Aloha, what can I do you for?” He asked, presuming Falcon to be a customer.

”I’m looking for work, and I heard you could offer that.” Cap replied.

Charlie appeared to look Falcon up and down as if sizing him up. “Well, you do have the look of a daredevil down, at least.” He finally said and then added. “Alright, I’ll give you a trial run to see what you can do.” He then proceeded to explain the rules of the delivery jobs. Falcon would have to deliver orders while also performing stunts along the way. Stunts and timely deliveries both racked up points, and more points meant bigger tips and payouts. “You’ll need a bike and a phone. If you don’t have those, I can give you a loaner for each.”

”Much obliged.” Cap said, now having changed into a yellow uniform that matched the one Charlie was currently wearing. However he did insist on keeping the helmet on, to which Charlie had no objection. Once he was situated with his loaner bike and loaner phone, Falcon took off like a rocket from its launchpad. A champion-tier racer like him just so happened to be perfectly suited for a stunt-oriented job like this. Cap had no problem impressing Charlie with his trial run, and so he was hired officially as the newest delivery person for Crazy Eats.

So Falcon had a starter job now, at least. But he would of course keep an eye out for any opportunity to do some bounty hunting as well. As good as he was at this whole delivery thing, he knew bounty hunting work was where the real money was at, provided he could actually find it.
The Round Table Discussion III

Word Count: 2,105 (+3)

"Might I say something?"

Primrose pushed the mug of coffee she'd taken away from the table's edge as she reclined slightly. The discussion had gone a little all over the place again, but now that they were finished with consolidating information about the Consuls, she felt she had to say what little she knew in the wake of learning what had become of Smash City Alcamoth. Her voice was colder than it usually was, but suddenly learning that the entire place was gone (among many other pieces of new information) would do that.

"First… I've met the Master of Masters as well. He was at Alcamoth, which was where I was when I was... de-storied for the latest time," she said, her voice catching as she thought about how to phrase that. Especially in the wake of learning about the city’s fate. "The group's arrival and departure from there is where Midna and I joined in, headed for the desert. As for what I learned from the Master of Masters when I spoke with him... That ability you mentioned must be the 'Gazing Eye' he told me of. Now, I believe he knew a lot more than he let on." She glanced at the Koopas as she mentioned this.

"It was him that first told me about time being strange in this world. And how spirits are like bookmarks, how they're formed by people losing their ka... and how they can be brought back to life by regaining it." The dancer figured that factored in to everyone's lives recycling over and over again, but she wasn't sure how even after learned what she had from Asgore. A few chairs down, Therion now sat with his arms folded, chin tucked to his chest, and ears standing up alert on his head after speaking earlier. In the past he'd done his best to let a lot of this information intentionally go over his head, but he'd changed somewhat in the last few days. Knowing how important it really was he listened, absorbing the story of everything he'd missed before he joined up - and what he’d missed since.

”Gazing Eye?” asked a confused Roxas, ”I've never heard of that in mine and his world. What exactly is this ‘Gazing Eye’ thing?”

At that, Primrose shrugged one shoulder. "His curse, or so he put it. He said that it allows him to see everything that it, the Eye, will ever see, even long after he is gone. So it appears that is how he sees all of time at once, as Bowser put it. Including an ‘unchanging future’."

”Now I really want to meet this guy for myself.” Roxas replied. He’d already decided he wanted to meet this Master guy a while back, and everything he was hearing so far just solidified that even further.

”I believe I remember him mentioning ‘seeing’ all of the organization members in a ‘city without a name” Kamek noted, before suggesting that ”if we find ourselves to wherever that is, and there are only so many cities on our map, then we might be able to find both him and the leader of Organisation XIII”

Juri had been leaning against a railing, looking down upon the meeting and listening in. Similarly, so was Captain Falcon, only he was seated in a chair among the speakers themselves while taking an occasional sip of coffee. Thankfully he knew at least some of the score thanks to him having been with the Smashers since pretty much the beginning. But something about all this struck him as being weird, even compared to the wild stuff he’d already seen as a Smasher himself.

This got Roland to pipe up, the fixer having listened to everything that had been going on so far. ”He sounds like someone who needs a lesson from that old hag. Sure the cycle repeats, over and over, a wheel that crushes everyone who tries to stand in front of it, but even in my world, we broke that cycle, twice. Well, I helped break it once… but I will say it wasn’t an easy thing.” Roland said, his hand trembling a little at being reminded of the intense emotions of that moment.

”But for the first time the cycle broke, if you want more details, you’d have to ask Binah… assuming she doesn’t just give you the run around like she always does. I don’t want to mention what it took for me to get a single straight answer from her…” Roland said, shaking his head. He then clarified a bit, saying. ”I don’t know the details, but apparently it took either thousands, or a million years of endless human suffering in an endless time loop to break the cycle. Angela would know more as well, but I doubt she’ll want to talk about it.”

"Real encouraging," Therion sighed.

Sandalphon’s eyes lay on Roland as she consulted her mental database. “While little of that may be relevant, I know of someone named Binah. A member of Shinra’s board, the director of his Time and Space division, and even more elusive than the likes of Hojo.”

”I’m not surprised. I used to work with her for months and I know very little. All I can tell you is she used to be an Arbiter in my world, a human superweapon created by the Head, my world’s ruling body, using their best technology and every singularity they could fit into them. But beyond telling you what she is, I only know she likes to watch and drink tea. She also seems to love to play the villain and managed to defeat the strongest fixer in the City, Beyond that...”

Primrose spoke again, cutting in before anyone else could respond to that. "Second… There were many other people at Alcamoth as we all know, but there was also a machine that housed information on all of them and then some. Is it... could something like that be recovered?"

If Smash City Alcamoth was truly destroyed then she wanted to know who had survived and who hadn't, even if they’d eventually come back to life. Rather than further derail the meeting though, she inquired about the device that had seemed like magic to her. Surely that information would be helpful going forward, on top of letting them know who among their Alcamoth allies still lived.

”So we could try to find the other survivors, and…well, figure out who not to look for? As morbid as that is…” Zenkichi asked, trying to figure out where she was going with that. It wasn’t a bad idea, he thought. It could be their next move, in fact.

”Well, if the mission is to stop this ‘land of adventure’ from resetting, I suppose we’ve got something to do then.” Roland said, making it clear and concise. Although he had to ask ”Although, how would we go about doing that? Although it could just be an extraction mission.”

”Well, before that, I believe we need to talk about what came after returning to Alcamoth. The whole desert and sea area cleared, followed by the underground and ‘Midgar’. I can only speak of the desert and the underground.” Sectonia said, she then, having the floor, explained the desert.

”Ugh, the deep ocean. Don’t remind me of the Maw. I’m still scared of the dark because of that horrid place.” Blazermate said, the robot shivering a bit. ”Geralt has that guardian. It was like some… weird lanky fleshy pale demon thing that came from the moon.”

“The Orphan of Kos.” Geralt simply added, frowning. “And before anybody who was there asks, yes, I chose to stay fused with it. Though, as I’m sure some can attest, it has not been without its consequences. Namely, an all-consuming rage that I had to use even more Spirits to try to get a hold of.”

The memory prompted an involuntary shudder from Nadia, though she put on a grin. “An Organization member sort of helped us out in the seaside. Some grim, sophisticated type. She sure liked talking in riddles, but she lent a hand on that nightmare island. ‘Isle’ not forget that place any time soon...”

Goldlewis scratched his head, dredging up some memories of his own. “Right, and that girl we met in Al Mamoon. Said her name was Ram.”

“Ram-Ram help fight off sky snakes when we flew up Big mountain, meh!” Tora pointed out. As dire as the trudging climb through the blizzard had been, he'd never forget the feeling of flying that followed it.

“There was also Gneidxick, who trapped us in some gauntlet of combat until another member of the Organization appeared and demanded he stop. Then, they just…left through a portal of darkness.” Geralt added, sighing. “That one still confuses me. Though the portal he created served as an easy way to get from Lumbridge to the Seaside. Imagine it’s gone, now.”

”One of the organization members named Shmuetax did help us defeat the guardian of the underground as well. Although much like the consuls they didn’t explain why. I do wonder if they are warring factions, with the organization being much better about getting us on their side than the consuls…” Sectonia said, mentioning their help in the Under.

“And then Xatow in Midgar, the Organization member who tipped us off several times,” Sandalphon added. “While they've been helpful, the intelligence shared by Roxas about the original Organization indicates that we must be wary of their ultimate motives. They most likely intend to use us to help them obtain Kingdom Hearts, a power source said to be capable of remaking reality.” She peered at Roxas. “If I recall correctly.” This got a nod of confirmation from Roxas.

”I wonder if it can even do that. Certainly if there are tons of worlds out there, other worlds have such an item and yet nothing has come of it. Really the only question is if these organization people are part of the ‘cycles’ of this world or if they are outside of them like the Consuls.” Roland said.

”It can.” Roxas said, unflinching. ”And even if it couldn’t, that doesn’t change the fact that Organization XIII still believes that it can. Especially considering their leader.” He said and then added, ”Speaking of which, I was able to confirm who the leader of this world’s Organization XIII is, right from the mouth of Xatow herself. He’s a man named Xehanort. Long story short, he tried to use Kingdom Hearts to remake the world where we came from, so if he’s the one giving the Organization their orders, then I’d bet my Keyblades that Kingdom Hearts is his goal again. Even if you’re right and Kingdom Hearts can’t actually remake the world, I have no doubt that Xehanort still believes that it can.”

”Sectonia’s Chaos Heart is also one such item, it was once used in an attempt to destroy and remake several realities, but I have to assume that Galeem put in safeguards against such things?” Kamek noted, frankly rather glad to no-longer had to hold onto that information ”It would be rather foolish of it to leave that power laying around for so long otherwise”

Well, that explains why Kamek seemed to be uneasy around Sectonia at times. She’d have to figure out her feelings towards the situation later, although all things being said, she did never ask. ”That explains its extreme dark power. I’m still gathering power, so perhaps that will come in time.” Granted, her desire was to rule, not to destroy, so that could be a limiting factor on this power instead of Galeem perhaps.

As for Roland’s other inquiry, Primrose answered. "From what the Organization girl in the Under told us, they aren't part of the same loop. Freed by someone or something, she implied that this 'Organization' has been at it for a while. Much longer than we have."

”Do they have their own secret of immortality?” Ganondorf inquired. ”The Consuls have only lived for as long as they have because of their Flame Clocks. Does this “Organization XIII” have an equivalent of their own?”

Goldlewis shook his head, a look of consternation on his face. “Compared to Moebius, we know even less about the doggone Organization. They’re a total wild card. The devil we don’t know, as they say.”

”Speak for yourself.” Roxas muttered under his breath. He knew all he needed to know about the Organization. And even if some people here weren’t inclined to treat them as hostile, well… he would, no matter what.

The Avenger - Before the Meeting

With all the spirit business done and concluded, Captain Falcon could focus on settling in. Or he would have, if it hadn’t been for the fact that everyone was going to figure out who they wanted to bunk with. That meant Cap would have to figure out who his roommate would be before he could actually get settled in and get that shave he wanted. Oh well, he’d have to cross that bridge a bit later, he supposed. At least for the time being he could do the other thing that he wanted to do and that was get a feel for the abilities that the spirits were giving him.

Finding the training center wasn’t that hard. There were enough signs to follow that prevented even a newcomer like him from getting lost. Although he did get momentarily side-tracked when he passed by the Stolen Moments Bar. After all the athletic games he had just been playing in Carnival Town, Falcon realized he was feeling a bit parched and could use a quick drink. So that’s what he did. Nothing alcoholic of course. Cap was never overly fond of that stuff and the rare occasions that he did drink did not include when he was about to train or attend any serious business like the upcoming meeting. But he was able to get himself a glass of refreshing ice water to wet the whistle with nonetheless.

He thanked the bartender for the drink and continued on his way to his intended destination. It was probably a good thing he got side-tracked, because when the Captain did get to the training center he found a few others wrapping up their own practice sessions which told him that he wasn’t the only one who had this idea. And he also wasn’t the only one still in need of a turn either. Nearby the figure of Ganondorf stood with his usual looming presence. With that dragon helmet he had on in the Spirit Chamber it was tough to recognize him. But he had the helmet sitting nearby, having evidently chosen not to wear it for the time being. And so without it he was a lot more recognizable.

”Huh, I never pegged you for the patient type.” Cap said to him after approaching. If they were both going to be waiting for a turn, then some conversation to pass the time wouldn’t kill either of them. ”I figured you’d have been the first in line, even.” Cap had to admit it felt a little strange talking to Ganondorf like an old friend. Since he technically only first met him earlier that day. That strange time and memory business from Galeem really had a way of messing with one’s head when they thought about it for long enough.

”Hmph.” Was the only response Ganondorf could offer along with a brief shrug. ”You’re still in your usual good spirits, I see.” He said, looking almost relieved to be speaking normally again after that stint with the strange speech he got from one of his Spirits. ”I suppose that means your Spirits didn’t change you all that much?”

”Apart from this?” Cap asked while rubbing his itchy facial hair. ”Doesn’t seem like it, no. But I won’t know for sure ‘til I take myself for a quick test drive. That why you’re here, too?”

”More or less.”

It wasn’t too long after this that they both finally got a shot at using the facility. Ganondorf was fine with using the shooting range targets to try out his new Psycho Cut move. But Cap on the other hand was looking like he wasn’t taking to it as well. He was hoping for a full on spar, not to punch or shoot at some dummy or paper target. So after a few moments he called over to the warlord in question, ”Hey, why don’t you go a round with me? I prefer an actual person over some test dummy, don’t you?”

”It makes no difference to me.” Ganondorf replied. But he decided to throw the captain a bone and summon a squad of Moblin Spearmen. ”You can go against them if you want to fight so badly.”

Falcon did just that, though not before switching his martial arts costume. He got it for this exact sort of thing after all. As the Moblins came at him, Cap was able to use their relative weakness as Minions to get a good feel for how that Robert fellow’s techniques worked. Apparently it revolved around channeling chi through regular attacks and then unleashing that chi in the form of stronger techniques. But as Falcon took down the Moblins one by one, he still didn’t feel all that satisfied.

And evidently neither did Ganondorf. Watching the Moblins get defeated made him shake his head and once they were gone he stepped up to Falcon himself. ”Fine, have it your way, Falcon.” He took the stance of his warlock strikes rather than brandish any of his weapons, assuming Falcon preferred it this way. And he wasn’t exactly wrong, either. Ganondorf made the first move by lunging with a Warlock Punch.

But such a thing was no problem for Captain Falcon. Rather than dodge it like most people would, Cap instead met the Warlock Punch head on with his own fiery fist. ”Falcon PUNCH!” He shouted out as their fists collided. Their power was roughly equivalent to one another and so both attacks effectively canceled each other out. But on the plus side it looked pretty spectacular to anyone watching from the sidelines.

And then the sparring actually started in earnest. Falcon was obviously the faster of the two. Even though Robert’s spirit had slowed his speed somewhat, he could still run circles around the warlord if he wanted to. But by sharp contrast, attacking Ganondorf was a lot like attacking a brick wall. Unless you were going all out and really bringing your A-game, the Warlord would just shrug off most attacks sent his way. And it was against Ganondorf that Cap could really test some of Robert’s techniques. Clashing with him proved a much more effective way to charge up his Power Gauge so that he could test out of the Super Special Moves he’d inherited from the martial artist.

The first one Cap tried was to charge up a moment and then, ”Haoh Shoukou Ken!” he shouted out at the top of his lungs as he thrust his hands forward. The big fireball hurled forward at the King Of Evil, who simply put his arms up defensively to tank the attack. And given the two very much fire elemental spirits he’d recently consumed, tanking that fire blast was pretty easy enough for him to do. But then Cap revealed that to only be a first step in his attack. While Ganondorf was momentarily blinded by the smoke of the fireball, Falcon dashed forward and then proceeded to launch into a rapid ”Gen’ei Kyaku!” which barraged Ganondorf with a series of blisteringly fast kicks. Or at least, it would have, had it not been for Ganondorf’s ear suddenly starting to buzz.

”What’s up with your ear?” Cap asked after he halted his intended attack.

”The archangel, Sandalphon.” Ganondorf answered. ”It’s time for the meeting, it seems.”

That was slightly disappointing, since Cap was really only just getting warmed up. Still, this training - however brief - would just have to be enough for now. ”Guess we’re cutting this short then.” But nevertheless he changed back into his racing suit and the both of them begun to make their way to the Common Room as requested by Sandalphon.

Interacting with:Gridlock

Things went chaotic pretty quick. Between one Titan or another launching some kind of attack, Spellbinder was having a hard time finding an opening to drop a big item onto the Herald like he was planning. All of this essentially culminated in Kid Cannonball eventually managing to knock the invader back outside where he came in from. And while Spellbinder initially thought that was finally the opening he was looking for, the voice of one of the leaders effectively told him to stand down.

Well, not in those words exactly. What Night Vision was actually asking for was for Spellbinder to find some way to keep the Tower from collapsing on itself. To which he just looked around and drew a blank in his head at first. How was he supposed to do that? Magical protection wasn’t exactly in his repertoire. Maybe Dr. Strangefate wasn’t behind him being sent here. He’d have surely told them what his magic entailed, right? But all that aside, Night Vision was asking him to do something that Spellbinder didn’t know how to do.

Come on, come on… think! Spellbinder squeezed his eyes shut and desperately tried to think of something, anything he could do to follow those orders. He had been channeling for a bit now, so that energy could be put toward something, but… what? Protect the tower with what, an extra layer of walls? Actually…

”Nekorb saw tahw, elohw ekam!” He suddenly shouted out as he took a knee and slammed his magically charged hands onto the damaged floor. His golden orange arcane energy spread across the floor around, transmuting cracked and broken tiles of floor back into their original forms. The energy even reached the walls and repaired some of their lower sections, though that reach didn’t go far enough to repair the upper sections. Spellbinder would have to channel another spell or get some kind of outside help. He couldn’t exactly keep up with undoing the structure damage on his own.

“Glad to see ya stick around, Magic Man! Let me see if I can help with some of the areas your magic isn’t reaching…” Gridlock chimed in morphing what looked like his human hand with his alien tech and connecting to what seemed like the foundations of the Tower and its operating systems.

Elsewhere in the Tower, Raven Grey was straining in her self induced telepathic coma. As if the struggle to keep her demon father at bay wasn’t enough, now another telepathic intruder made himself known. He was the leader of the Hellfire Cult, and the employer of the Herald. Sebastian Frost, aka the Blood Diamond, was now on the same astral plane as Dark Bird and her four-eyed father.

Back in the lobby, Spellbinder was already channeling energy for his next spell. But even if he could use it to repair the spots that his first spell missed, the help from Gridlock was still very much appreciated nonetheless. That at least meant they had a better shot of keeping up with repairing whatever damage was done to the tower while the other Titans were still trying to quell the threat of the Herald outside. He did start to think of one other idea, but he had to make sure it was even possible before he could implement anything.

”Night Vision said that guy’s helmet is the source of his force fields, right?” he suddenly asked of Gridlock, ”Does it repel magic too? I can maybe try to transmute it or just summon the helmet to my hands if that’s what’ll create an opening to finish him off.”

Carnival Town ~ Big Blue

The first thing Captain Falcon did was not immediately activate the fulton he was given. After all, Midna had offered to try and use her portal abilities as a workaround for his Blue Falcon. As such, he led the Twilight Princess to the garages of the Big Blue racetrack where his F-Zero machine was parked. He raised his eyebrow with intrigue after watching her do her thing. Seemed like a really useful ability. Not something he suspected would get heavy use in a combat scenario, but the utility of it was certainly undeniable. He just hoped that they’d be able to arrange something for the Blue Falcon on the Avenger later, since the hangar was technically supposed to be for air vehicles only. But he figured he could cross that bridge when he got to it.

As Midna deployed her fulton and the Captain was about to do the same for his own, something delayed him briefly. Samurai Goroh, one of Falcon’s long-time rivals had apparently now arrived at Big Blue and had caught wind of Falcon having to drop out of the grand prix race. If he knew Goroh, then Cap knew he’d be none-to-happy about this and probably accuse him of being too scared to face him in a race. Cap just sighed, honestly not having enough time to explain everything to the former bandit, not that it would have done any good anyway. So Falcon tried to keep the interaction as brief as possible and instead just wished Goroh luck in the race and then yanked on the fulton chord before the man had any time to protest or stop him.

The Avenger

As for the method of transportation back to the ship? Balloons were certainly not on Captain Falcon’s bingo card, that was for sure. In fact the Captain found himself hanging in midair for a time until he was finally brought on board in the ship’s hangar bay. Speaking of the hangar, it certainly looked like it had room enough to house the Blue Falcon, so surely he could work something out with these Lost Number people. But that would need to wait, because for the time being everyone was more interested in putting their spirits to use and that meant getting a tour of the ship’s Spirit Chamber.

Once in the Spirit Chamber, Cap was able to get a firsthand look at exactly how these spirits worked. Not only could they be turned into summonable strikers or fused with, but it looked like it was able to undo those as well and return you to your normal looks and abilities. Alright, so this all seemed like a way to make tweaks and adjustments so you weren’t stuck with whatever initial result you got. That was good, he guessed. It also clearly meant he had nothing to really fear from fusing, so he saw no reason not to give it a try.

But there were others who wanted to use the Resonator and so Cap decided to wait his turn and turn his attention to his other two spirits while he waited. Apparently this worked by trying to make some kind of mental connection with the spirit in question as a way to request that they become your strikers. At least that was how Falcon had interpreted it. As for these two spirits in question, they looked rather soldier-like. Well, the archer girl looked that way. The other man on the other hand looked more like he meant business. Either way both of these two looked like they'd had plenty of their share of combat before and so becoming strikers probably wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for them.

When the spirits seemed to vanish, Cap took that to mean that it was a success. He’d have to teach himself how to actually use them a bit later, because doing so right here in this crowded room was a recipe for disaster. He heard mention of a room specifically intended for practice and training so he figured he could pay that area a visit later on. And then there was the martial artist’s spirit. Judging by his choice of wardrobe, the guy looked like he’d clash heavily with Falcon’s own looks. That gave Falcon another idea that he implemented by applying the 3-piece suit costume he’d purchased earlier. A sharply dressed guy like this spirit would probably blend pretty well with the formal attire. And this would also give the added benefit of letting Falcon keep his F-Zero suit unchanged.

With the formal suit on and his helmet temporarily set aside, the Captain finally took his turn with the Resonator. Just as he’d seen others do before him, Cap slotted the spirit into the Resonator and stepped into its chamber.

The Captain looked himself over when he stepped out of the Resonator. It was about what he expected, and his suspicion that Robert’s spirit would match better with the dress suit was practically spot on. He scratched his chin a bit when the newfound facial hair made it itch. That was also something he was expecting. Falcon never thought he was that good at pulling off facial hair like this, although the changes from Robert did have a way of making it work. But at the end of the day, Cap would always prefer a clean shave. As such, he’d probably give himself a quick shave later on after he was done settling in. For now, the Captain gave a few quick kicks with his legs. Yeah, it definitely felt like his kicks were faster and more precise than before, probably because of Robert’s fighting style. He wasn’t sure how that would impact his own fighting style, and so Falcon made a mental note to ask someone for a sparring session later so he could test the water and figure things out.

But that appeared to conclude his business with the Spirits for the time being. Falcon switched back to his F-Zero Suit and also made sure to put his helmet on. After looking at himself again he concluded that, yeah, the facial hair really didn’t work for him - especially with the helmet on. So the first thing he’d do is finish settling in, then give himself a shave. After that, maybe a meal and then a sparring session assuming he could convince anyone to join him for one.

The last thing Ganondorf had expected was to be lifted up by balloons of all things. He’d thought surely they possessed some kind of portal or warp, but balloons? That meant he was hanging there thousands of feet in the air until it was eventually his turn to be transferred into the large ship’s hangar. That was certainly… an experience. Not exactly a pleasant one, either. But he was just going to have to get used to it if he expected to continue using whatever facilities this vessel offered. Which, given its size, had to be quite a few. It was effectively a flying fortress in that regard, even if Ganondorf had no understanding of any of the technology behind it.

There were certainly a lot of explanations to listen to. The exact inner workings of this flying vessel were mostly lost on Ganondorf. This sort of technological environment may as well have been totally alien to the Warlord. From his perspective, the advanced machines may as well have just been another form of magic as far as his understanding was concerned. Either way, he could plainly see what the various devices and machines could do for him and was certainly interested in making use of them.

The first thing Ganondorf wanted to do was use the machine that would separate his Spirits from him. He had no intention of getting rid of them all by any means, but he was cognizant of the fact that he had a few that just weren’t getting much use anymore in their current form and could probably find a better use in some other way. When it was his turn he stepped into the respec machine and waited for it to do its thing. It wasn’t often he found himself in a position of stripping himself of power that he’d gained, but he knew he'd be able to regain it all momentarily once he sorted through his spirits. With that out of the way, it was time to finally start doing something with his newly acquired spirits. As instructed, Ganondorf inserted the spirits of Oberon, Artorias, Ceruledge, and Volga into the Resonator before stepping inside it himself.

Ganondorf inspected himself and eventually offered the changes a nod of approval. It was definitely preferable to be closer to his original build than to be so tall as he was before. It was intimidating to be sure, but he was also certain it would have become a nuisance eventually when it came time to enter through shorter doors or portals. But this was all just the beginning of what Ganondorf wanted to do. The next thing he did was pick up the spirits he had removed earlier. They’d served their purpose and even did it well when it was needed. But now they needed to serve a different purpose. But for this, Ganondorf would have to do a little… negotiating.

He approached Sectonia, knowing full well he wasn’t exactly her favorite person. He’d managed to sneak a use of her Crown of Avarice before but he knew he wouldn’t be able to get away with that again. This time he’d have to make her an offer. And the offer was pretty simple. He’d use the Crown to crush three spirits in his possession and she would be allowed to keep one of her choosing as a payment. The deal was struck and so Ganondorf donned the crown and proceeded to crush the spirits of Blastocyst, Duke of Flies, and Igos du Ikana.

The Queen elected to keep the fly familiar, which in turn left Ganondorf with the Sheet Music and the Stem Cells. The stem cells he let drop to the floor. He remembered his time down in the Basement and recalled that items such as this would automatically be used as soon they were touched, and this didn’t look like something he wanted to use on himself. But that was fine, because it would play into what he wanted to do next. Before that he took a moment to read the Sheet Music. It was a song that was not familiar to him, but the notes did remind him of that annoying hero and his precious Ocarina. So he had a feeling this song had some kind of magic power to it, but the question was, what? Unfortunately, Ganondorf had no musical ability of his own, at least for the time being, so for now the song would just have to be kept in the back pocket.

And now Ganondorf used his magic and summoned Phantom Ganon. He had not been using the Phantom as often as he used to, and so he decided perhaps it was in need of some additional power. When the Phantom Appeared, Ganondorf took the spirits of Guido and Boris and thrust them into the figure’s chest in order to fuse it with them.

When the fusion finished taking effect, Ganondorf then pointed to the stem cells on the floor in order for Phantom Ganon to pick it up. They instantly vanished into him as expected, resulting in the Phantom becoming a bit sturdier and his projectiles a bit faster, but also produced some bulbous clumps of red tissue in a few spots around his body. It wasn’t entirely savory, but the red cape and the armor did at least make it less noticeable to a certain extent, not that such a thing would be a bother to either the warlord or his phantom. After that the Phantom was dismissed and it vanished back into the dimension that it was summoned from.

Ganondorf now had 4 remaining Spirits. They were random spirits he had acquired from the Orb Machine that were still in their capsules. He suspected the capsules somehow slowed or prevented the spirits from fading which was why they could be kept in that machine until they were awarded to someone with a rift token. As much as he usually craved power, Ganondorf had to also admit he was curious about that spirit merchant who was mentioned earlier - Vulgrim was his name. He wasn’t here presently, but was claimed to be able to offer knowledge or other useful items of interest in exchange for spirits. That intrigued the Warlord enough to hold onto his remaining spirits so that he could potentially use them for Vulgrim’s services once the merchant in question had returned.

And that, finally, concluded Ganondorf’s overall business with the Spirit Chamber. And while others might have wanted to find rest or food, not so with Ganondorf. He instead wanted to test the new powers he had gained. Only a fool would go into real battle without first testing any new powers or skills they learned, after all.

When it was time to leave, Roxas yanked his fulton chord, not surely sure what it was going to do. So when he was suddenly yanked up high into the sky by a pair of balloons, it nearly made him yelp in surprise. It was a good thing Scamp was still in his Poke Ball, or this would probably be scaring the poor Yamper to death. But after some time literally hanging in the air, Roxas was picked up and transferred back into the Avenger’s hangar bay. Not exactly a fun way to come and go, but if it meant having a mobile base like this? Who was he to complain about it?

Once onboard, Roxas didn’t immediately go with everyone to the Spirit Chamber. Instead he made a pit stop to his quarters so he could drop off his backpack and change back into his monochrome outfit. Since he was about to do at least one fusion, he didn’t want it to affect any of his casual clothes or outfits. Then let Scamp out of his Poke Ball so he could run and stretch his and legs. After this, the two of them went scampering through the corridors until they found their way into the Spirit Chamber.

Roxas had gotten there in time to see Nadia accidentally reset herself with that Orb thing she carried. That sight actually served as a big relief for him. The Nobody had had his fears and reservations about the idea of fusing from the start, but now he was learning that it could actually be undone if he wanted to do that! That definitely alleviated whatever worries Roxas still had about the concept, and so now he felt completely okay with the idea of fusing as long as he knew he could go back to “normal” later.

Roxas didn’t get a chance to use the Resonator right away. While he waited for his chance, he decided to go ahead and do something with his existing Strikers and the Spirits he intended to turn into Strikers along with them. First thing he did was spirit bind with the random ghost girls he got the Orb Machine.

Of course, it was after this that he learned about the apparent tax that having too many Spirits had on the person. But luckily they had the dugout machine that they could store extra strikers in to be swapped out later. As such, Roxas went ahead and put Fortune and Burn Rooster into the dugout, figuring it was only fair to give the two of them a break as well let the two new strikers have a chance to show what they could do. It was around this time that he was able to get his chance to use the Resonator.

”Like… this?” Roxas asked as he slotted in the spirit he wanted to fuse with, garnering a nod of confirmation from Deadman. After that, Roxas left Scamp waiting on the outside and stepped into the Resonator. After it did its thing, he stepped back out again.

Scamp was a little confused at first, but after a moment he realized it was still Roxas and was quick to happily lick at his face. ”Haha, yep. It’s still me, buddy.” Roxas said to him with a grin. And with all this now done, Roxas was essentially finished and could go find himself something else to occupy his time with. Maybe he could squeeze in a nap or get something to eat for himself and scamp?
Sorry for that delay, but I have now rectified it by posting.

What. A. Month. That was approximately how long it had been since Zack first made it to New Gotham City. And no sooner had he found the Teen Titan X, he got called here to a whole other city to join Titan X. From what he understood, Titan X was apparently the “main” team while the Teen Titan X had been some kind of… offshoot, he supposed? This was like trying out for a minor league baseball team only to be immediately signed on by the Dodgers or the Red Sox. So uh… no pressure, right?

Unfortunately that was exactly what the magician was feeling right now. Some of these people had been working together for some time already. They’d clearly begun to form their friendships and rapport with one another. Could jokingly slag one another off without any worries that any feelings would be legitimately hurt. And then… There was Zack. Standing there in the corner of the lobby with his hands jammed into the pockets of his gray hoodie with a big backpack slung over his back because he’d literally just moved into town and hadn’t even had time to unpack or anything yet. And it definitely didn’t help that he clearly looked like the youngest person in the room. So basically it was all the pressure of starting a new job and being the new kid in school all rolled up into one! Yay!

He was initially startled by the big machine guy’s entrance. Who in the world would go out of their way to make such a loud entrance? Oh… right… A magician like him would, wouldn’t he? But that was all stage and theater! He’d never do something like that in casual conversation. He’d never have the guts to do anything that flashy unless he was suited up and wearing his mask. Was it weird that he would feel so… naked without it?

Thinking back on it… Why wasn’t Spiderboy here? Pete had been the one to point him in this team’s direction initially, but for some reason declined to ever join it himself? Seemed a little hypocritical, now that Zack thought about it. Or maybe it was Dr. Strangefate’s idea? During lessons he did occasionally insist that Zack pursue some kind of social life rather than dedicate all his time to learning and practice. Maybe he’d been the one to put Spiderboy up to sending Zack here? Well either way, Zack was here now and if the choice was between Jumphaven and going back to his family drama, well… he was choosing Jumphaven every single time.

And then the Tower was attacked. Night Vision gave the call to arms, and everyone leaped into action. Everyone, that is, except for Zack. At least at first. After a moment’s hesitation he snapped out of it and clapped his hands together as he began to chant. ”Emitwohs... S'ti!” He spun around with a dramatic flair as his clothes transmogrified into his suit and he transformed into Spellbinder.

But after that he, well, hesitated again. If he’d been on his own he could have jumped into some kind of strategy involving some big conjuration or something. But for the moment he was a bit afraid of getting in someone else’s way and stepping on their toes.
