Adding to that, unless you are exhibiting life threatening symptoms (unable to breathe, etc) go to a rapid test site in your area than going to the ER. Local ERs are swamped and overwhelmed here.

Ah hell, I still have some ownership to this RP and this world. It'll be interesting to see if my lazy ass can make the cut now. Plus, I'm not as creative as half the returning folks with their new heroes.

Personal Dossier

Name
Tanaka Shun

Age
15

Origin
Okinawa, Japan

Physical Description
Always taller than most boys his age, Shun is big in all respects. Heavier, taller and darker skinned due to growing up on Okinawa, he sticks out like a sore thumb this far north. His dark brown hair is occasionally gelled up into a pompadour, and he walks around wearing a dumb grin on his face. Constantly wearing relaxed shirts and shorts, it’s a humorous sight to see him shivering as he walks outside between classes. But, as he says, ”The clothes are just part of who I am!”

Characterization
Earnest
Friendly
Honest
Helpful
Humorous
Lazy

Personal History
Shun was raised by his father, a racecar mechanic in Okinawa alongside three older brothers and a younger sister. Shun barely had any real memories of his mother, who was always "away on business" during his childhood. Her own work was kept secret in their household, as his father seemed particularly upset with his wife's career path. When Shun was 8, his mother was killed on one of her business trips, and his father became colder and more obsessed with work. Shun's more cheerful personality, something he seemed to inherit from his mother and grandmother, continued undaunted in these dark times, even masking his own sadness.

Whilst Shun's father and brothers all had the same quirk, Shun had inherited his mother's quirk: Overdrive. This seemed to create a further rift between Shun and his family, as he was still expected to assist with his family's business after school. In fact, up until his final year in middle school, Shun had never actually considered the hero course at all. During a class trip, one of Shun's classmates tripped over a railing, and Shun was able to grab her in time before she could fall. This was the first moment where Shun's homeroom teacher recommended he consider the hero course for high school, instead of going to a normal high school, and then to a technical school to get a degree in mechanics.

Shun's application process was an awkward series of misadventures. His scores were extremely average, and his aptitude with his quirk was pathetic. A month before his middle school graduation, Shun received a letter from Isshin Academy, a school he had not applied to (due to the sheer distance from home). His scores, quirk tests and interview all felt the same at every other school he applied for, and it all seemed hopeless.

And then he received his acceptance letter. Even without his father's blessing, Shun took the chance to pursue this odd career choice; based on both his teacher's recommendations and a serious conversation he had with his grandmother that same year...

Character Development & Conceptualization
Shun is a fun, relaxed and laidback character, and is meant to be an antithesis to the shonen protagonists that are so popular in the genre (and that I tend to roleplay all the time). Shun is relatively weak compared to his other classmates and has only made it this far due to his quirk’s abilities. The goal is to follow this lazy character that in any other medium be a background or punchline character and show how even someone like him can develop into an excellent hero. The other concept of his character is growing into his place as a hero and learning the truth behind some hidden family secrets. Dealing with the serious consequences of taking up a hero's mantle, as well as trying to live up to their ideals and expectations around those who knew them best is an interesting source of drama.

Abilities & Talents

Quirk Type
Emitter

Quirk Description
Many believe Shun’s quirk is based around simply charging up energy, but it’s a little more than that. Overdrive is simply Shun’s ability to store up kinetic energy, then release said kinetic energy any way he pleases. While he can do damage with his quirk, Shun’s greatest weakness is both in his physicality (out of shape) and in his ability to store the energy. It can take up to three minutes for Shun to charge up his quirk, leaving him both open to counter-attack and incapable of performing a rescue. However, when he releases his kinetic energy, he is capable of both extreme speed and strength.

Overdrive is a deeper quirk than simply kinetic storing; as Shun's mastery of his quirk increases, he will be able to sap potential energy from objects (trains, cars, bikes, moving debris, etc) as well as draw out reserves of energy, though this technique comes at a great cost.

Other Talents & Attributes
Shun is a brilliant gearhead and can tear apart most small electronics and vehicles if left to his own devices. As far as his own physical abilities, Shun has fallen behind throughout his school years. His attitude has always been focused on taking it easy and relaxing, which has stunted his potential physical growth. He also lacks any sort of great stamina, rendering long applications of his kinetic charge weak. Shun is also a master around a barbeque, in case anyone gets hungry out there in the snow.

I hope he comes back but @Grey has been teasing me that it’s not going to happen and I’m mad.

That monster.

We’ve got a decent amount of returning players, and I intend to bring back Midori-Sensei and some of the other dynamics from the original RP. I’m also taking influence from Charak’s limited RP where I initially created Yoshiba for.

Very cool! I always had a bunch of ideas for world-building around the MHA-Sapporo area beyond the school, but eh, nothing ever came of it. I'm excited to see the new character dynamics this RP will bring. Maybe someone will break Nobu's face!
I'm actually interested in the changes @Inkarnate and @Pirouette made to the original RP. Are any of the old instructors going to be appearing? How many of the old cast have come back?
I remember this.

Falcon's Reach | Bar

The man was busy reading something on his PDA. He'd been sitting there for hours now, with an expensive bottle of whiskey beside him at the small wooden table and a small shot glass he continually refilled every so often. He'd not spoken to anyone in the immediate area, though many of the patrons had kept a wary eye on him. His hair was cut rugged and short, and his beard was slightly scraggly, but not too long. That was enough to set him apart from the usual aging waster, but what really made him stand out was his coat. Long, black and lined with synthetic fur, it looked completely out of place towards the roughshod and patchwork outfits many of the common people of Falcon's Reach wore. He exuded money, but his weathered face and lack of care around him also permeated another kind of energy: danger.

He seemed interested in a video feed on his device, something he kept close enough to his chest that no one was too interested in actually looking over his shoulder to see. Instead, he was busy watching as three figures made their way into the command center of the settlement. He seemed to focus on one of the people walking out of the camera's view. His eyes widened for a moment, before turning into slits.

He grinned.

Alan had seen his fair share of rough faces and tired men in his lifetime; community leaders so far from the cities tended to age quickly due to the stress of raiders, poor supplies, general unhappiness and the sheer lack of comfort that came with the wastes. This...leader was no different. Whereas Percy or Stein may have been uncomfortable with his ghoul-like features, Alan was comforted by them.

The face of a leader who struggled was the face of a man who bore the hardships of his people. He'd been fucked over by enough round-faced and well-fed men in his time to know that it's the smiling man with overstuffed pockets that will have his people turn their guns on you without a second thought. Then again, desperate men also make the same kinds of desperate decisions...

Alan finally broke the silence by answering the man's sarcastic "enthusiasm" of the team. "Don't worry," He began, trying to sound as confident as he could. "We'll be able to move a lot quicker and quieter than a full battalion. And we've held our in firefights in and out of our NCs. We'll do the job just right." False bravado? Or just puffery to make this guy a little less worried that there were three cold bodies here with field equipment instead of the heavy support they had access to. It didn't matter. Do or die. Just smile, follow orders until the day comes to get what you want.
EDIT: Until then, however, there's no need for a redundant tag like High Casual. You want your roleplay to have pages worth of rules but remain in Casual? Cool. It's a Casual roleplay. You can have all the rules in the world but in my eyes it doesn't bump up the skill level of the roleplay, it just increases the entry bar.

I think you just hit why I hate my writing and I feel like a I’m incapable of writing anything of substance. I never evolved beyond a lower skill level. I don’t know if I ever even had the capability of going beyond the bar I had set for myself.

I need to be alone for a while. Or forever.

Because categorisation means you don't have to sift through page after page of Free checks to find a Casual or Advanced one. It's the same issue with removing the subforums, essentially.

so the options are repost the same topic in two different forums or have it get lost in the miasma of one single forum?
