@Rune_Alchemist Well, instead of just dropping, maybe you can set it up so she's working on something solo once we get to a location? And post when you can insert yourself in?
I understand how you feel completely though. So its your call <3
Zeke put up a friendly front. "Esailia, you seem to have your wits about yourself," he began, pulling his hood down. He'd completely forgotten it was up in the first place. "How long have you been in service? And-" he stopped himself.
"Might I suggest behind us," Shel chimed in in his high voice to the pair of them, Rintor and Esalia, "it seems only natural to move thata way," he said pointing in the direction they'd come out facing, "but near as I can figure this spot isn't anywhere significant in this land. One ways as good as the other I'd suppose."
"We will need a defensible position," he tells Esailia, Shel, and the others closest by. "But first and foremost, we will need to find a reliable source of fresh water. I believe that our best bet is near the foot of the mountains, perhaps on somewhat higher ground but with access to a stream." Assuming that there's even water here in the sense that we understand it. He raises his voice slightly. "It is my opinion that we head for the mountains, so long as there aren't any strong objections. We stand to find both drinkable water and a defensible position over there, and perhaps," he adds wryly, "should we be so fortunate, even a place where our changeling can bathe to her heart's content."
Finally, she walked over to the mithra. "Esailia, wasn't it?" She rolled the name sensuously through her lips. "I don't have any weapons, but I'll put a game face on if anything happens, alright? I have a few persona with claws and teeth." She inspected the other woman's body like a jeweller would a gem. "Somewhat like you. Maybe I'll show you." These people were going to be fun. Such diverse personalities to explore.
Esailia was glad that people were starting to realize she didn't want to be an overseer, just that no one else was seeming to stand up and take responsibility for the entire group. That's one of many things I'm glad I learned in my training... Her thought was interrupted by Zeke's question, and smiled "To be honest, Rintor's right. I have about six years of training, but no real field experience. I only wanted to get us quickly organized and moving, not start an argument about taking command. I'm no dictator." She tilted her head at the 'and-', but didn't press. No reason to interrogate him. And even if she wanted, she was hounded again by the Changeling, waving her attempts at flirting away "I don't think any of us will have time to mess around. But thank you for the offer."
The soldier looked back towards where Rintor was looking, and the mountains were indeed one of the best places in the visible land to find a potential base of operations "Agreed. Everyone, we're on the move!" She glanced towards Zeke, Rhen, and Shel "And if you three want to work together to form a map and decide on which way we want to call North, it'd be helpful. We don't want to lose track of where the portal opens. See if anyone else has anything to contribute to that cause as well."
@Yuuta@Nagariin@Dusty@checkeredsoul@Regitnui@Force and Fury It wasn't that she was intentionally ignoring Treekle and Rhen, more that their comments weren't important enough in her mind to respond to at the time. She had already stated they were exposed, and no one stopped to consider that her original idea WAS to get the group moving. Esailia dropped her hand and huffed quietly. It was clear that this group wouldn't unify under military order. What about common sense then?
"Fine, let's get going then. Anyone who can wield a weapon get it out." She declared as she did exactly that; tugging her shield from her back and strapping it to her left forearm before pulling out the longer of her two swords from her hip. "Anyone who is skilled at scouting, get to it. Anyone not able to fight, come to me. Rintor..." She turned to look at the grizzled veteran once more "Would you like to pick a direction?"
Esailia stood stock still as one by one, people grew frustrated with her. She never expected a crisp and quick formation, but she was sure most of these people understood how much trouble could come if they didn't set up a properly defended caravan, right? At least not everyone was balking under direction...
This is going to be interesting.
She gave a small nod of approval to Zeke and Shel, and listened as three others came up and gave her quips, warnings, or advice. It was only after Rintor mentioned moving on did she finally speak up "Yes I fully understand that we need to move on, why do you think I was finding out what everyone did? Being a veteran I assume you would see logic in a caravan with fighters on the flanks and-" she stopped midway through, clearing her throat slightly and raising her voice loudly enough to be heard. "Yes, Sir. You're right of course. So why don't you take command? You are clearly more experienced in the field than I. After all, I'm just a lowborn Mithra, fit for nothing other than to stand and die defending these people."
She stood at attention and saluted, waiting for his response, her face impassive. Let's see how these people think of me now...I'm not some cheeky aristocrat's daughter. I clawed my way to where I am, and I'll be damned if they think I'll roll over at some hurtful words...
@NagariinDon't worry about it overly much. I had planned over half my post beforehand. Besides, most of my first posts are my largest anyway because I can embellish on backstory.
But nothing's really stopping you from editing your post to add stuff before walking through the portal so long as nothing contradicts what's already written. The opening is left vague in details so we can be free to write how our characters get there, what's going on in their heads, how they started their day, and more.
Edit: I'm also waiting on an answer from Yuuta regarding post order, if there will BE one.
