"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

Her breath caught when she felt the cold metal of a pistol against her temple.

"Put the heart down, and back the hell up if you want your friend to live," the guard said to Ellie in a rumbling baritone, digging the gun into Dream's head.

Dream squinted at Ellie, vision blurred as she tried to breathe. The heart, glinting in Ellie's hands.

The doctor, his face turning white every time she asked what would happen if they failed. Above all else, he said, they had to keep the heart safe. They had to, even if it meant...

She snarled, her boot stamping down on the guard's foot, a burst of light bruising the bone. He yelped, losing his grip. That's all she needed, and she tore away. But in her haste, she saw his free arm reaching for her, and she slipped on panicked feet as he pushed her off the railing.

She held back a scream, staring straight down into the boiling pit below. The guard wrapped a tight hand around her ankle, and Ellie could see Dream's other foot flailing; she restrained herself poorly from kicking the guard, desperately hoping she wouldn't die.

As her captor supported himself against the railing, his pistol pointed at Ellie.

"I'll drop her, I swear I'll drop her!"

Deep, golden orbs stared back at her from within the cave.

God, she couldn't breathe.

He was monstrous. The ground trembled under her feet as his rippling, massive body exited the cave. Thunderous footsteps left cracks in the dirt, his breath sent waves of heat creeping over her skin. The transformation was slow, but it looked like something from a nightmare with the way his long teeth were bared.

A great and terrible roar sounded from his gaping maw.

She needed to run. Now.

Elysium Island, The Sky

Interactions: NA.

It wasn't working. No matter how much fire he threw at the man in the orb of lightning, he wouldn't stop. Moving too fast, else the dragon would have flown out of the way. Instead, his body curled up in itself, protecting the softer insides as the orb made contact.

ZAM!

A terrible screech escaped his maw as thousands of volts, maybe even tens of thousands, coursed through him, wracking his nervous systems and turning his insides numb. It took a long moment before the dragon realized Drake's eyes were on him, but he was so far away…

Then Drake disappeared entirely, as the dragon fell into the Veil.

Jin cursed in his mind. And, slowly but surely, the dragon began to deconstruct as it was buffeted by the storms, resummoned back to the Dynasty.

Elysium Island, In the Tunnels

Interactions: Britney @Mixtape Ghost N, Artifact Group

Alexander hissed as Clancy broke from his grip, only watching as Alexander escaped the scene while hugging his mangled arm, portal closing over him.

The Undead King had it a little tougher. Alas, the one managing portals was watching from a slit somewhere else in the tunnel, and was also caught up in the Obsession when Sloane threw the knife. So, the Undead King stood there, motionless and defenseless, as Clancy tore at its ribcage and spine.

Crack!

That was the sound of a precise strike, the stake, that impacted through Clancy right to the Undead King's ribcage. The work Adora had done, the spider-like cracks, splintered, and the stake wholly impaled the Undead King. It grunted, now stuck in one place.

However, its twister had indeed caused a lot of frost damage to the tunnel and its residents.

”Ashy... Layla... Luca... Get out of here!”
Adora

Alizée, staring blankly at Luca as she held back the four-legged monster, quickly turned her attention to Layla. ”Layla, get back!”

Layla gritted her teeth, seeing the twister coming right for her. And she shook her head. ”I'm not leaving!”

Britney made quick work of the four-legged monster, and Alizee released her chains, immediately scooping Layla up and attempting to shield her from the frost as it began to cling to her eye lashes. ”You stupid girl…”

”Aislin, Sloane, Now's not the time to stand around and gawk! Do something!”
Britney

Aislin had been too scared to take the shot, afraid she'd hit the Greenwood member who attacked that Mafia fellow. Then afraid she'd hit Clancy.

But now? She could see it clearly. A fire tornado forming in the Undead King's hand, spelling doom for them.

She couldn't let that happen!

Spurred on by Britney, and by necessity, Aislin lowered her gun and instead raised a single hand to the roof of the tunnel. In the next instant, rocks, boulders, concrete and dirt began to fall on the Undead King, just barely missing Clancy. Dust and dirt filled the tunnel, making it hard to see for a few seconds. Making it hard to breathe.

Until, eventually, the dust cleared enough to show only a single boney hand of the Undead King sticking out from a mountain of rock and concrete, completely smothered. The hand twitched and tried to move, but besides that could do nothing.

Aislin took shallow breathes, tasting dirt and dust in her mouth. Her gaze moved to Britney. ”...Let's get outta here. I dont think its dead.”

However, her concern wasn't needed. Slowly, the Undead King's hand dissolved into gold specks, de-summoning back to the Dynasty.

Reports fired through the House of Cards comms ceaselessly. Valencia stood there, absorbing it all, hand on her chin as she stared at Lancy, who was sweating over the notes.

Ah, it couldn't be helped, could it?

Valencia's hand fell on Lancy's shoulder. ”We're leaving.”

Her gaze fell on the two esteemed Elite members with her, Blake and Jason. ”Get close and I'll portal you out. Or you can stay here. But,” A short chuckle. “I wouldn't recommend it.”

Valencia stood with Lancy and waited long enough for Jason and Blake to join her if they wished, before she pulled out a small vial pendant around her neck. A quick pull of the top, and it snapped, brilliant light flooding the lab before fading away, leaving the lab quite empty.

Elysium Island, House of Cards Boats on the Shore

Interactions: N/A.

A few minutes later, everyone was accounted for at the boats. Out of all of them, Alexander was certainly the one worse for wear. Zi was examining the wounds, trying to get it stabilized. What could you really do with shattered bone, though? A sling would just hurt everywhere.

”I'll be fine. Just hit me with the morphine in the kit, and I'll make it back to base for proper treatment.” Alexander said gruffly, though it was obvious his voice shook with the pain he was in.

Valencia gave one last look to the island as the last person to board the speed boats, before she shrugged, and hopped on the last boat.

An alliance didn't mean fighting your battles solo. She had bought them time, that was all she was expected to do. Now? The entire island would be evacuated of personnel. And no one died. That's all that mattered.

”We'll call it a draw, Sycamore.” She murmured as the boats started revving their engines, and pulling away from the shore…

Hathforth Castle, Guard Tower and Barracks, Countess Elysabeth Vernon's Chambers, Present Evening

@Psyker Landshark

"I see everyone has decided to take a leave of absence. Had I known, I would have taken a detour until Her Majesty's return."
Safina

Elysabeth barely hid the surprise flickering behind her eyes. The leader of the Concord always lived up to her name. Indeed, even for a simple touching-base, Safina ensured it happened on her terms and in secret, in keeping with her creed.

She took a breath, forcing herself to relax. It was just Safina, not an unknown assailant. Thank goodness Safina was on the Wizard Queen's side. What a foe to contend with who could sneak up on you so skillfully!

Elysabeth swirled the freshly poured wine in her glass, her gaze settling into neutrality, maybe even the hint of a smile. Incredibly amiable, according to her standards.

”Her Majesty isn't expected for another week and a half. We would have been sore without your unmistakable presence.”

It was then Safina chose to sit, moving into the candlelight shining from the table. Her noble regalia was in contrast to Elysabeth's who hadn't yet changed out of her Royal Guard armor and its cape and pin of denoting status.

"Reporting back. Is Her Majesty afield? What is our current situation?"
Safina

Elysabeth made an affirmative hum before taking a sip of the wine. She’d have good dreams tonight, at least.

”Yes, she's afield. Her Majesty wrote by raven, it reached earlier the morning. From it, she was three days from Athius. Now, I suspect she's made it and has engaged in her ‘weapon retrieval’ mission. If we're lucky, we'll be able to tax Athuis after this.”

Elysabeth took another bite of her basted fresh catch, coupled with greens. Chewing politely and swallowing, before speaking again, leaning forward.

”We've had a… change, in the court. Court Mage Blackthorne was found guilty of treason after my men tore apart his mage's study while in his absence. Many incriminating parchments were found, old correspondence indicating he was involved in buying and selling of royal secrets… All mainly surrounding the improper use of his Society of Young Magic.

“I imagine he's been sentenced to death by now, and that sentence has passed. That young Lilim, Lady Tearmoon, will be taking over the position. I wish her well.

“I've also been made aware that Viscount and Viscountess Skybound of the Orphan's Matron will be visiting Duchess Agustria in an effort to find anything incriminating on her.”

Elysabeth was about to take another bite of her food, before she lifted her bell and gave it a soft ring. ”Here, it doesn't look good if only one of us is eating.”

A servant was within the chambers within a minute, bowing low at the edge of the table. Elysabeth nodded to the servant. ”Lady Haliel will be ordering something.”

After Safina ordered something and the servant left gracefully, Elysabeth waited a beat before asking the question that had weighed heavily on the castle all week.

”How did your mission go? How fairs Odenfield?”

Elysabeth would listen and relay back to Her Majesty via raven. However, she could also act on it, if necessary. It was true that Safina held authority over her when it came to ruling in the Queen's absence. However, it was more of an honorary position, to be taken and left at Safina's discretion. Safina did prefer to tent to her Concord, after all. And Elysabeth had been trained and disciplined well in the ways of nobles, court, and province.
Hey I'm interested in joining this if you'll have me, what kind of role or concept do you think I could fill in for this RP?

Hey Lana, good to see you again. You're more than welcome to submit a CS! We could use a Wild who takes orders directly from the Wild King. I could send you on a mission and get you into the main plot quickly. Or you could be a Lawless, or even an Umbra soldier. It's up to you.
Epic post, Sporko. And yep, that sounds good, Qia!

Raven's Rest, the Back of Bill's Tattoo Shop
Mentions: NA Interactions: Alejandro (@Tesserach)

In hindsight, going down the highway at 300 kilometers an hour may not have been the wisest idea. Luckily for Lorenza and her driver, there wasn't a lot of traffic to weave through. And yes, the slightly icy roads made this particularly precarious. But they made it to Raven’s Rest in record time, without being worse for wear.

As it so happened, a certain tattoo shop was one of the first establishments they passed, now going at a more reasonable speed. Lorenza immediately noticed the shattered spill of glass on the pavement, and the car screeched off to the side to avoid it.

Either something had happened, or was currently happening.

”Pull around to the back, Deven.” Lorenza said in a firm voice.

Obediently, the car soon found itself parked off to the side, nearly boxing in a black SUV with its engine running. Lorenza opened her parasol and pulled it over her head as she stepped out, closing the car door behind her. She turned around briefly to make a hand sign - two fingers in a gun shape, gesturing to the alley. If things got messy, Deven had permission to leave her and split.

With that taken care of, Lorenza approached the driver's side of the black SUV. Nothing of note came to her mind when she glanced at the license plate, nor at the black siding. It was wholly unmarked. Black vehicles were never so simple, though - she knew.

Sounds of a fight could be heard inside the building. Lorenza only smiled softly at this, before her gloved hand rapped on the driver side window. She could see a young woman inside, looking abjectively terrified.

Lorenza addressed Alejandro with all the grace of a person wholly unperturbed by the possible risk of life just behind a door.

”Hello, love.” She said, flipping up her wallet and flashing what looked like ID.

”I'm with the City Council. Can you explain what's going on here?”

Playing the role of someone with automatic authority, even if it was entirely fake, would hopefully allow Lorenza to get some answers faster, without having to plunge headfirst through that shop's door, and opening whatever can of worms was banging around behind it.

Awesome-ness. We are ready for the boss post.
I feel that. I feel that so much. xD
