Berke Bayamaar

"Indeed! Let us grow strong and well!" Berke replied, taking Mark's hand in a firm handshake. He was so pleased to have found such a friendly partner to share a room with, completely oblivious to the madness that lay within Mark's head. He had been slightly worried from the way this day had started that this might be a school of conflict, but Mark for one had proven to be a perfectly friendly individual. Mark was just the start, however, and Berke hoped to make a strong network of friends to grow upon.

This was but the start of things to give Berke hope, as he soon heard a voice calling out to him from afar. It seemed some errant soul had taken it upon himself to assist another in finding friendship; with himself and Mark no less! Berke could not imagine a more pleasant turn of events. "Shall we go over to them together?" Berke offered to Mark. Either way, Berke wasn't about to turn down the opportunity to make even more friends. Approaching the pair, he could tell that one of them was the Chimera at the center of one of the earlier incidents in the cafeteria. Perhaps he wanted to make up for his earlier behavior? This was an excellent turn of events indeed!

"Ah, hello Bo!" Berke said upon arriving at the pair that had called to him. The other man had called him "Litle Bo Peep", so that had to be his name, right? "I'm Berke Bayamaar, and if you want to be friends, I'm all for it." He offered a friendly handshake upon finishing his sentence. He took note of the man standing with him, who was putting on such a broad smile. What a nice man he had to be to take it upon himself to help another find friends. He would have to try and find out his name later. It would only be rude to leave him out. For now though, his focus was on the one that had clearly asked for his attention.

Mycona Frisa

Although he had not confirmed that he was in fact a friend, Mycona had deduced that this man was indeed a friend. Mother had told her that when she found a friend, they would help explain things she didn't understand to her. This man was going to great lengths to explain what he had said, so clearly he had to be a friend. Mycona was relieved to know she had finally found one. She had tried asking so many others, and not one had said yes. Now she could finally get the answers to all the questions that were coursing through her head. There were so many questions going through her head right now.

However, she would patiently await the end of the friend's spiel on alcohol, oblivious to his nervousness or true intentions. Perhaps fortunately for him, Mycona noticed when the announcement was made for everyone to stop eating and follow Volkova. Arising from her seated position without a care in the world, Mycona told the friend, "We must go now." and left to join the others. As much as she would rather receive answers from the friend, mother also told her to listen to instructions from the "staff", and she had deduced that these people were giving instructions and must be staffs.

Mycona did not understand a lot of what happened next. They went to a lot of different places, they stopped to look at them, and they spoke to some people. It was all quite interesting to Mycona, but she did not understand all of the words used. Mycona wanted to stop them to ask more, but mother had told her not to interrupt people while they were speaking, and the staffs were doing a lot of speaking. There were occassions while following that she wanted to stop them to ask, but she couldn't always get past all the others to say something. There were so many others around, and sometimes to lost track of who was there, including the friend.

Eventually, they all came to a stop, and Mycona was handed a bunch of papers. From what Mycona actually understood, they were to choose someone to be their mate in their room. Mycona had learned that "mate" was a "synonym" for friend, and so the choice seemed obvious to her. She did not understand what they were talking about in relation to "monsters" and "humans" and "chimeras". Mother had told her there would be different kinds of others, but she did not know which was which. All she knew was that she was Mycona, and that the friend was around here somewhere. After a period of looking around, Mycona found the friend again, and said to him, "My name is Mycona. What is your name?" She had not learned the friend's name before, but she knew everyone had one, Mother had told her that. She understood from the form that they were to sign the name of their roommate, so she needed to know his to write it down. She was completely unaware of the fact that she had in fact been excluded from the list, nor was she aware of the potential that the friend may not agree to being her roommate.

"Oh, uh, well..." Berke was about to answer Mark's question before more quarrels broke out. He would have said that he was open to doing so, because while he had not made up his mind to become a soldier after graduating, it wasn't something he was completely opposed to. While killing on the battlefield hardly appealed to him, he knew from back home that sometimes people were needed to guard their homes with weapons in their hands. A soldier's ultimate duty was to defend his home, and so it had a certain appeal to him. Still, he had yet to truly think about it at length. There was certainly no time to either respond or think about it more, as said quarrel had broken out, and both Berke and Mark seemed equally concerned with it, though likely for vastly different reasons.

It seemed some Chimera had caused a stir by saying something offensive. Now some girl was attempting to fight and intimidate him. Berke had no love of offensive words, but he did not like to resort to violence either. He wanted to say something, but he had never been the best at forcing his way between two people fighting. He always wanted to, but sometimes he could not find the right words. Fortunately, he did not have to, as somebody else decided to employ their powers to diffuse the tension. Their actions were technically provocative in of themselves, but it seemed they were used to prevent the girl from assaulting anyone, so it was okay by Berke. Eventually, the whole conflict was shut down by the staff, much to Berke's relief. To think there would be so much potential fighting on the first day of their new lives. Berke was going to have a heart attack if things carried on like this.

After everything calmed down, the announcement for the tour to begin followed shortly after. "Uh, we should probably go now..." Berke said gingerly to Mark. He would have waited to walk with his new friend, but he seemed caught up in an internal conundrum, so Berke made tracks without waiting. He not only did not wish to fall behind, but he also figured he should leave Mark to his own devices. Whatever he was tossing up with in his own head, Berke did not wish to interrupt him. The tour for one was informative and interesting. Berke was glad to learn that they basically had all kinds of facilities for the students to enjoy. Berke himself was sure to make good use of the athletic facilities himself. As strong as he was by virtue of his ancestry, he still needed to do work to maintain his form. He also really needed to work on his poor mobility. Right now, he was like a big, lumbering beast, which was not only detrimental in the long run, but also a bad stereotype for his people.

Once they received the roommate application papers, Berke realised he had only one real choice. Berke barely knew Mark, but he did know his name at least, which was more than he could say for anyone else. Ultimately, he would be happy with anyone, but if he was to choose, he may as well choose the one person he could ask without it seeming too strange. "Uh, Mark?" He said, approaching his new friend. "I know we don't know each other too well, but I was wondering if you wanted to be my roommate? If that's okay with you?" The last thing Berke wanted to do was feel like he was forcing him to shack up with him. It was absolutely okay with him if Mark didn't want to, but he had to ask.

"Huh..." Hisano commented softly as she learned Midori's Freudian pattern. It seemed like she was basically just a big ol' ball of nerves, and was spitting out whatever she could to compensate for her uncertainty. It would explain why she seemed so weird when she first introduced herself. It was probably only natural, seeing as everyone was settling into a new environment. Hisano, on the other hand, was never all that fussed about these things, as people came and went from the farm all the time, and she had dealt with all types, and all universally older and sometimes more intimidating than anybody here. Midori would just need to e nurtured like a seed.

At least it seemed like they were making a miniature social circle already. Midori and the foreigner were already exchanging names. This Noah seemed almost as awkward as Midori, which perhaps made them the perfect pair. "I'm Hisano Okabe." She offered. Noah hadn't asked for her name, but she imagined it wouldn't hurt to take the initiative. There wasn't much time to chat before it turned out that the long awaited ceremony was finally beginning. Hisano decided to hush up and listen. It was the only polite thing to do.

Most of it was a fairly typical school spiel, but the part that was doubtless to catch more than her attention was the announcement of their class assignment. Of all the things that could happen, she got put in the same class as the very two people she had first met and introduced herself to at the academy. Hisano had to stifle a little giggle at how that had turned out. As the event ended, Hisano spoke to her new classmates, "Well heck, isn't that just the thing? Like a right turn of fate, us all being together." While she sounded more amused than elated, the truth was Hisano was somewhat pleased at this turn of events. "Shall we go together?" She asked them. They were all to walk single file, but there was no reason they couldn't fall in line behind each other.

Arriving in the classroom, Hisano chose to take a seat in the second row from the front, on the far right hand side.

It was not long before Hisano found herself being conversed with. It seemed she was not to be spared from conversation, not that she actually minded being approached. "Nice to meet'cha too, Midori. I'm Hisano." She seemed nice enough, if not a little weird. It was like there was something Hisano couldn't quite put her finger on about her. Something forced in the voice? She didn't have much time to inquire further, as Midori soon found herself nudged by somebody else. In spite of how trivial the collision seemed, it appeared to bother Midori a great deal, as she spat out some nonsense at lightning speed. All that Hisano caught from it was "Sharkfact" and "backwards". As weird as that was, her collisional partner only made things weirder. She was a foreigner of some kind, clearly speaking English. Hisano only knew enough about to English to know what it sounded like, so she had no idea what she was saying at first. There was also something off about this one, but Hisano couldn't make up her mind as to what it was.

After the foreigner if she was okay, Hisano added, "Yeah, and, uh...why the heck are you blurting out shark facts?" While Hisano wasn't completely callous, the girl seemed physically fine, and she was more curious as to why on earth she would start rambling about sharks for no reason. Of all the bizarre things about this situation she found herself in, this was the part that mystified her the most.

Hisano Okabe

The one thing Hisano always remembered when she came to these places was that she was tall. It was somewhat easy to forget on the farm, where she didn't always talk to that many outsiders, and her family was fairly tall themselves. But coming to a city or, as it were, coming to this academy reminded her that many people did not come all the way up to 6 feet tall. Of course, then there was the odd time she would come across somebody that was taller than her. Wherever she turned, there was a reminder of how isolated it was back home. This stint at Chihaiten was going to be educational in more ways than one.

Hisano arrived in the hall, as instructed, and took a seat. She could see a lot of people milling around and chatting. These city kids were always such slackers. Weren't they all supposed to be getting ready to pay attention to an important announcement? But she thought that maybe it reflected on the school as much as the students; if they didn't care to have them all sit down and shut up until the last minute, then that was their decision. She imagined they were all going to keep whispering and chatting throughout the whole thing too. That tended to be the way these things worked. As for Hisano, she planned to remain seated and await the start of the presentation. She wouldn't mind making a touch of small talk beforehand, though, as long as it wasn't continued into the presentation itself. As of yet, nobody had decided to engage her, however...
Mycona Frisa

In the midst of attempting to find a friend, somebody actually decided to approach Mycona for a change. Mycona was surprised to find an other that was almost as small as her. So many others were much larger. The strange man wanted her to sit down and "sober up". "Okay." Mycona said as she complied with his request she sit down. "What is 'sober'?" She asked as a follow up. He told her to sober up. That begged the question; what did it mean to sober, and how did she do it in an upwards direction? Was it a synonym for jumping? Mother explained that many words had the same meaning, so maybe to sober was to jump? Jumping was something that made you go 'up'.

"Are YOU a friend?" She asked, wasting little time between questions. It occurred to her after asking that it may be that asking that question was precisely what he was telling her wasn't how she found friends. Mother had never explained how to find friends, only that she would find one "eventually". Mycona had asked for a more specific time frame, but Mother could not provide one. In retrospect, she should have asked Mother to explain how to find them. She had assumed from the word "eventually" that it was only a matter of time.

@1Charak2 Hi, remember me? I decided to make an app for this roleplay. Hope it meets standards.

Berke Bayamaar

Berke was most surprised to find both Chimera and Monsters among the staff present at the ceremony. While Altay was a place of tolerance, he had always been told the outside was quite different, so it was strange to find non-humans in such prominent positions. Maybe the outside was more tolerant than everyone had thought? The staff decided to show them a little film to induct them into the school. At first, Berke thought they were in for a pleasant experience, but then the film got really dark and disturbing at the end. It made him think about just how sheltered he had been back in Altay. But the ultimate intention was one of hope, and that was something that Berke could get behind. He had come here for no other reason than to make himself useful just like those Mages in the film.

Berke was eager to fill his plate up quick, though not for the sake of a meal. While he could be a big eater when he wanted to be, Berke was more concerned about finding someone to sit down with and have a good chat. In the end, his meal was a fairly simple collection of meats and starchy fruits and vegetables. He always needed to keep his protein up. However, it was not a happy moment that awaited him upon finishing his task, but a dismaying one. He chanced upon a pair of people, one of which was loudly saying something about a "declaration of war". Berke was quite worried that these two were about to break the very rule that the nice lady from earlier had told them not to, and start a fight in the cafeteria.

By the moment Berke had made his way over to diffuse the situation, however, it seemed the situation had diffused itself. He had no idea what the dog Chimera was going on about, but from the sound of it, he didn't intend to fight. This was good. Joining the group, Berke added, "Yes, let's all...uh, "energize" ourselves together!" Before sitting down to eat near his fellow Chimeras. He wasn't sure if the girl had any intention of starting a fight, but hopefully she would be inclined to just sit down and eat regardless.

"Oh, and I'm Berke." He said to his new, loud friend. "What's your name?"

Mycona Frisa

Mycona did not understand this "ceremony". Mycona had read that there was an "Administrator" at the Mordhaben's, but what she didn't understand was why the Administrator had a large other standing near them, making strange gestures as they spoke. The Mordhaben's was already confusing her to no end with their strange rituals. She did not understand a number of the words they used either, such as "Technician" or "presentation". For some reason, they all stepped aside as some strange picture show began. Mycona couldn't understand this either. What did the person speaking have to do with the Mordhaben's and magics? Eventually, the pictures changed to that of more strange others, all doing things Mycona didn't fully understand. What Mycona could gather is that some of them were very surprised because a town had gone. Were towns not supposed to go? Mycona had gone from home when she came to the Mordhaben's. Maybe the town was also at the Mordhaben's? Mycona would have to ask the Administrator if that was the case.

After more words she couldn't quite figure out, all the others began to move off somewhere else. Was the ceremony over? Were they going to start using magics? Evidently not, as they just ended up shuffling around, stopping to hear one of the others say things. What Mycona did understand was that they were going to have breakfast. They had breakfast at home. Mycona wasn't sure if this place had breakfast, but it this confirmed it. Mycona loved breakfast. All the interesting sensations she got from consuming food were almost as amazing as the magics she had seen and read about. This was something she not only understood, but could participate in.

Once in the cafeteria, Mycona initially began to grab as much food as she could. Mother and Father had instructed her on how to eat properly, so she knew better than to make a mess, but she still wanted to eat as much new food as she could. Half way through her task, she remembered that she still needed to find a "friend". The ceremony was over, so she wondered if it would be easier to find a friend now. She embarked on the task of finding a friend with new vigor, but quickly found that many of the responses she received were the same. Where oh where could a friend be, she wondered.
