Isla raised an eyebrow as Hagan shook her hand off, before storming off into a nearby office. She was relieved that he hadn’t shoved her as well and hopefully he’d cool off but… that wasn’t her main concern right now. If she was honest (which she rarely was), she wasn’t surprised that things had already gone to hit between people in the group. Aside from those who knew each other before (one of whom was dead) they were all complete strangers. Of course they weren’t just going to get in.

She sighed softly, nodding to Zoey as she headed towards the door. Isla walked over to Stacey and crouched down, holding out a hand in an offer to help him up off the floor if he wanted it.

“Are you okay?” she asked softly, though she had no idea what to say to actually help him feel better. He had just been grabbed then thrown to the floor. She didn’t get a chance to hear his answer, though, turning her head to look at Zoey at the door.

"... And we're definitely not where we last checked."
Zoey

“Huh?” Isla leapt up, jogging over to Zoey and freezing as she reached the door. Penny and Odessa had disappeared… and the city spread out in front of them was bright and colourful as if they’d been thrown into the past. It was fucking weird. In many ways it was more appealing than the place they’d been before but it was just not right. Nothing here was right. “What the fuck.”

She frowned, narrowing her eyes as she tried to come to terms with what had happened.

"Wait! Wait I...I k-know this place!"
Finn

“Oh yeah, I recognise it too,” Isla commented, with a hint of sarcasm and a roll of her eyes. “From every generic 60s film.”

As if they actually knew the place they’d been magically transported to while they weren’t looking. She tilted her head as Finn went to get their other friend, and started to drag him out the door. Okay, they really seemed to think that they knew where they were and that they lived here.

“Hey, wait!” Isla called out as Finn just went right past her and Zoey, leading Trent outside. Her words seemed to fall on deaf ears, however, as they kept going. She turned to Zoey. “Do you think we should follow them, or just leave them to go on a stupid adventure.”

She shook her head again, knowing exactly what she was going to do for all her pretence of not actually caring. She didn’t even wait for a response. “Fuck it, I’m going after them.” Then she followed right after Finn and Trent.

Maya listened to what Lyss said with folded arms and a slightly tilted head. She knew that shit would be dangerous - while she may want to save her own skin, she knew that if Blake wanted anyone dead it was her and she had a much better chance here with the coven. Not that she’d abandon them anyway over something like fear. She wanted to be able to absolutely beat the shit out of Blake anyway, so if she had to go through the Outsider to do it… Well.

“... She’s here!”

Shit. Maya jumped out of her seat and spun around to watch as the Outsider floated down from the ceiling. In ways, she looks nothing like Maya had imagined… but there was a terrifying air to her nonetheless. She was talking, but Maya paid no attention to it - she couldn’t even understand half of what was being said.

Instead she moved around, backing away slightly as Madison attacked with the Jaws. She was itching to just straight up blast the Outsider… but she couldn’t risk losing her hearing yet for a pot shot at this distance.

Then the Outsider pointed at her, speaking of how Blake wanted her dead (not a surprise). In the split second Maya had as the finger sped towards her, she froze. How was she meant to get out of the way of that? Sound blast it away?

She let out a shocked yell as something snatched her up, sweeping her off her feet and out of the way of the finger of probable death. Her mind struggled to keep up with exactly what was happening as she went from whatever had saved her and right into Herik’s arms. She could hear something crashing against the outsider but couldn’t see where she was, still frozen in shock.

“You okay?”
Herik

Herik put her down, and she snapped out of it. “Fine, thanks to…” she turned her head to notice the grey lion attached to him. “...you?”

She shook her head and looked back towards the Outsider. The massive reptile creature that had appeared out of nowhere was attacking, and Maya hoped it took attention off her enough to get in a better position to not just get attacked again. But she didn’t want to be useless… and needed to get close enough for her abstraction to do any damage when it hit. She wanted to get into the thick of it but she had no defences. Not to mention affecting other people with her attacks. Fuck.

“Cover me,” she muttered to Herik, moving around the room and ducking behind a pushed over table. It wasn’t a great defence but better than nothing. She peered her head out with a frown. She’d managed to get far enough away that a directed sound blast shouldn’t hit the others… yeah, this would do. Keeping most of herself behind the table, Maya twisted and waited for a clear path before shooting a sound blast at the Outsider. Her ears rung as she shot another in quick succession.

Maya wasn’t feeling great.

While she’d woken up without a hangover, she had an annoying headache from an infrequent ringing in her ears throughout the night stopping her from sleeping. A bad side effect of a loud abstraction. She was pretty sure she’d have tinnitus in no time. But she forced herself to roll out of bed before midday, putting on light makeup and getting dressed in white shorts and a blue, of the shoulder shirt. Something a little more practical than normal, because she knew there would almost definitely be a fight today. She pulled her hair into twin braids to keep it out of the way before heading out.

She turned up almost on time for once - actually understanding the urgency of their meeting for once, having watched a bunch of strippers get sacrificed the night before. The only reason she was a little late was because of traffic on her way there (and totally not taking the wrong turn multiple times, that would never happen). She arrived just before Emily, making sure to hurry when she saw the other girl behind her and finding somewhere to sit.

Folding her arms, Maya tilted her head slightly as she listened to what was said. It filled in the gaps that she’d missed when she’d lost her hearing during the fight - that the sacrifices had been for the Outsider and that Blake Schmidt was behind it all. Because, of course he was. She also had absolutely very little idea what the Outsider was out of what Lyss had said at the original meeting with Blake. It wasn’t like she was given a crash course to the Extra-Normal when she awakened. She kept that to herself, though.

"Well, since this lady Alyssa's fault in the first place."
Babylon

“If we’re going to play the blame game, we’ll be here for hours,” she rolled her eyes at Babylon - who of course had to ruin saying something useful by being a bitch. Unlike some of the others (herself included), Lyss actually seemed to look out for the other girls. She was glad that Vashti seemed to agree with not blaming each other… Though Maya would normally jump on the chance to shit on some of the other’s (Emily). “But, Lyss probably does know the most about the Outsider so it’d be best if she explained.”

She snorted as Herik arrived and got completely confused about the Outsider in a way that somehow wasn’t entirely annoying. “No, the Outsider as in some ancient evil ghost.”

“Either way, we just gotta find Blake and the Outsider and beat the shit out of both of them, right?”

As the whispering continued in her ears Isla blinked again, bashing right into the front desk with a pained cry. She held her head as the hallucinations followed her vanished and looked around, completely disoriented and confused from all the blinking she’d done while panicked. Zoey had grabbed Finley who appeared to have a knife to his throat. She shook her head.

They must have all seen stuff too.

Hagan grabbed Stacey by the collar and started shouting at him, and Zoey joined right in. Isla grimaced as she pushed her hair off her face and stood up. She disliked seeing shit as much as the next person but this was not the solution. As much as Isla wanted to give the guy a good slap herself… But that was beside the point. It helped that her hallucinations seemed to have been on the lighter end of things, going by Finley.

She walked over and grabbed one of Hagan’s arms, looking at him with a completely fake but convincing confidence. “Let go of him. This ain’t gonna help.”

She tilted her head in Stacey’s direction. “We won’t get any info outta him when he’s like this. He clearly has no idea what you're talking about or who you even are right now. Let him calm down first then we can question him.”

Even as she spoke Isla kept one eye on Hagan, knowing pretty well that grabbing someone who was angry was generally a bad move. She tensed herself to use her abstraction in the likelihood that he’d swing at her instead.

Maya smirked slightly as the disgustingly naked guy passed out, even as she slid down the wall into a sitting position. Her head was beginning to ache from the constant, deafening ringing in her ears and she really wanted another drink. But she also just wanted to go home and curl up in bed. She rubbed her head as she watched what was going on. It seemed like the three rednecks were standing down (well, two had passed out anyway).

She half jumped as the Jaws manifested for what seemed like no reason, only this time it was like… a fucking hydra with three skeletal heads. She could tell that they were talking as the ringing was slowly reducing but not what they were saying.

Like tonight wasn’t already weird enough. She snorted at the turn of events of what was meant to be a fun night out. At least she wasn’t dealing with it like Izzy was. She rolled her eyes as she watched the other girl curl up on the ground as if the world was ending. Like she’d helped in anyway to stop it.

“...naked one day and found it in some old lady's house. He bought her! Please, I just wanted to get high!"

Maya’s eyebrows shot up as her hearing began to come back, enough to make out what was being said even as it still felt like someone was holding an alarm clock up to her ears.

And she had absolutely no context for what was being said. She could just about piece it together… there were reinforcements, they’d sold whatever wanted the sacrifices to some man and they were now agreeing to fix it. And the guy looked scared shitless at the Jaws’ threat and Maya could hardly blame him for that. He deserved it for this shit, though.

“Someone’s gonna have to fill me in on everything I missed,” Maya commented quietly, tapping her ear before slowly standing up. She folded her arms as she still leaned against the wall, turning her head to glance between Madison and Lyss. “And since when could the Jaws talk?”

She shook her head. That wasn’t important right now… what was important was moving things forward so they could get out of here! “So what’s the plan now?”

Isla gave a slight nod of agreement to what Hagan said about getting out… walking definitely wouldn’t work. She opened her mouth to respond but then Stacey walking in caught her attention. He seemed far from happy.

Then he started playing his guitar like a madman, lighting up in an unnatural blue colour that had Isla’s eyes widening. She didn’t have anytime to consider what was happening as her vision suddenly swam and her mind filled with voices.

“Why did you tell us your parents were rich, Isla?”

“You’re not really dating him, are you?”

“Why did you lie?”

“Liar, liar, liar, liar.

Isla slammed her hand over her ears as she curled over herself, shaking her head even as the accusations continued and the visions of people she just about recognised. She blinked once, then again, to try to get away but they followed her. This couldn’t be real, how was this even happening, how did they know about everything she’d lied about?

“Nobody will like you how you are.”

“You just make up everything.”

“Liar, liar-”

“Shut up!” Isla shouted, scrunching her eyes closed and curling into a ball over herself.

Seeing that she’d successfully stopped the naked bat dude from coming closer to her, and even by some miracle managed to hit him there, Maya let out a shaky breath. Using the wall nearby to support her, she pulled herself back up to standing on shaking legs. All the sounds around her were muted, barely there through the intense ringing in her ears. She looked towards Lyss to see that she was still alright (Madison could definitely handle herself) but it seemed that she’d taken pretty good care of the other one.

And Taylor had run upstairs which meant they’d hopefully get some backup soon.

She glanced towards the one she’d slammed into the wall to see him lunging towards one of the sigils. No. She shouldn’t have taken her eyes off of him… she shouldn’t have stopped hitting him until she was sure he couldn’t get up. She prepared to hit him again but was too late as he activated the sigil and the strippers disappeared.

“You piece of shit!” she shouted, even though it came out heavily accented and barely understandable (not that she could hear it herself). “I’m going to fucking-” she cut herself off, clenching her fists and realising that actions spoke louder than words… that she could barely speak, due to her current deafness.

Maya took a clumsy step forward and held her hands up even as they shook with anger, slamming James with yet another blast of sound. It knocked her backwards against the wall, which she used to stop herself from falling even as she let out a hiss of pain. It was worth it to hit him again… and she’d keep doing it until every bone in his body was broken. She narrowed her eyes at him, ready to blast him again if he could still move.
