You ever realize that you haven't changed your status in months, go back to change it, and then wonder what the *fuck* your previous status was even talking about?

No, no, they clearly are referring to Ohio -- which Georgia is geographically south of, so the theory is still sound.

@PandaBradyDropping an OOC post here to state my interest.

I've always been fond of playing rival characters in mecha-themed RPs, so maybe making an enemy pilot would be fun, like someone from Westeria. Not sure how much relevance I'd have, though - especially if nobody else joined for me to interact with.

The character concept I had would probably be some kind of test pilot for prototype Arcana frames as part of an experimental unit or something. Could make for a neat subplot of the main cast discovering a new unit being field tested and trying to lure it out and destroy it - kinda like early episodes of The 08th MS Team, if you're familiar with that show.

For the unit, could I ask to be allowed to design a prototype for a Type-18 "The Moon" magech? It might be based more on, say, a defensive controller type of role - using illusion magic for the equivalent of electronic warfare and sensors, testing new barrier technology, etc. Basically meant to isolate and blind opponents while giving intel to and protecting squadmates, maybe even amplifying their weaponry? Could also be designed to work in a team of three with more combat-focused partner frames designated as The Sun and The Star, if we wanted to get really ambitious with a whole "rival squad" type of setup. I dunno. Just spitballing at this point.

Anyway, what do you think?

Fumika had hastily released the frame of the door and tried to shuffle quickly away, only to freeze mid-motion as she found herself suddenly face to face with someone she hadn't quite expected to find standing right behind her. Her bright blue eyes widened slightly as she found them met by two darker ones, which for a moment seemed so intense that she started back, her hair standing sharply on end. She blinked. Yoshida had drawn back slightly as well and was smiling at her, saying he was alright. She gave a slight nod and a tired attempt at a smile. Her head still felt like it was spinning, the image of what she'd just seen burned into her mind...

"Oh... um... that's... good," she said quietly. A few faint sparks crackled up and down her bangs, causing them to frizz and twist at odd angles before they finally puffed outward and away from her face. She still looked a bit pale, but her expression had reverted back to its usual slight frown, and her ahoge was wobbling back to life, even as the lower strands of her braids twitched back and forth, rustling against the edge of the door as she stepped aside to allow Yoshida to enter.

"Ah... sorry. I didn't mean to get in your way," She said quietly. Her heart was racing, but her mind felt blank. Why was she here? She wanted to help, but the more she saw the more it all surrounded her, forcing her further and further inside herself until she almost wished she could just sink into the floor and disappear.

They had thanked her for coming... but like this, what could she do? Despite herself, she found herself peering back around the door at Takeshi, at the stump of his arm.

She remembered this feeling. It was just like before.

If only... if only her Quirk worked differently. If only she could make something, anything permanent. If only she had some way to help replace what had been lost. But she couldn't do that. Once again, she couldn't do anything. All she could do was observe.

@Aerandir @Zeroth
Sorry it took me so long, but here she is!

Fumika had remained silent for almost the entire trip, listening intently every time Jett spoke up with some new bit of information. If she were to speak, what would she even say? That she was worried? Of course everyone was worried, and talking about it didn't seem as if it would help any. All she could do right now was wait - wait and hope that everything would turn out alright.

Click, click, click. Haruka's artificial leg rapped and tapped against the edge of her seat. Her expression was calm enough, but Fumika could tell that she was worried too. When the bus stopped close to the hospital, she was the first out the door, and despite her hobbling and shuffling, occasionally hanging ever so slightly onto Jett's sleeve or shoulder for support, she stayed close to the front of the group. Fumika trailed behind her. Her long legs didn't seem to want to carry her any faster than the pace of the person beside her. Every now and again, she couldn't help but look over.

Yoshida had seemed... strangely upset on the bus. He hadn't spoken at all, but she'd seen him grit his teeth and give a look much like the one that had so frightened her when he'd broken down before. She had almost reached out to hug him again before she stopped herself. Everyone had seemed upset when she had done that before, and it had made her feel rather strange, too. She decided it would probably be better to wait until they were alone. Thankfully, it hadn't taken long before his expression had changed again, and he had smiled once or twice. That was good. He had a very nice smile, and it made her think of how he'd looked when he said it was alright to talk about herself. ...Actually, wait... Why was she still thinking about that? Maybe it was because it had almost seemed like he was looking at her whenever he smiled that way... But surely that was just her imagination.

Once they arrived at the hospital, they began discussing who they'd visit first. Fumika's first impulse was to go and see Reina, but since they said she was resting, maybe that would only just bother her. Besides, Takeshi and Roy were both very kind to her, and she couldn't help but worry. After all, both of them were very strong, but they were also physical fighters for the most part. They had probably had the hardest time of anyone because of that, and the more she thought about it, the more she couldn't help but worry.

Her fears only increase when the familiar shape of Donny slouched into view. Her eyes flashed red for a moment as she looked him over, only to find that, as she'd feared, he seemed to have taken a great deal of damage. Or... well, all of his bones were gone, but then again, he didn't seem to need them, so perhaps he wasn't hurt as badly as she'd feared? There seemed to be a lot of outside chemicals in his system, however, and his body wasn't breaking them down nearly as quickly as she would have expected. They must have had to put him under, although how one would even begin to operate on someone whose organs seemed to be merely a formality was difficult to imagine.

But speculation would only get so far. She opened her mouth to ask if he was alright, but her words were drowned out by a sudden cry of pain from her left. Someone had just passed by, bumping into Yoshida, and then he'd doubled over screaming.

Her eyes had only just gone back to blue, but before even she knew what she was doing, they flashed green, and in her outstretched hand, the long staff she'd seen Amane wield briefly during their time as teammates flashed into being. Sparks shot from the ends of her hair as it flared up in violent spikes, like the bristles of an alarmed cat. She moved immediately between Yoshida and the unknown individual - who called back a hasty apology as she ran away. Fumika glanced back behind her to Yoshida, who seemed to have recovered himself, and looked more mildly annoyed than anything else. It hadn't been anything serious, then... Right?

...Why, then, had her first instinct been to think they were under attack? This was a public hospital. Heroes were surely alerted and on patrol. Any villains trying to finish the job they had started would be dooming themselves. There wasn't any reason to suspect danger here... And the "culprit" had only been a young girl, about their age. So why was she still so uneasy? As she dismissed the weapon in her hand, she couldn't help but realize that it was shaking.

"Yoshida, are you alright?" She asked quietly. Her eyes had faded back to blue, and her hair flopped back down around her face with a faint snap-hiss of dissipating electricity. He paid her no mind, reaching out to the door the retreating girl had just gone through-

And was promptly flattened as it swung back open.

Fumika knelt, eyes flashing red as she assessed the damage. He seemed to be a bit more bruised, but thankfully, his ribs had withstood the blow. Her gaze flickered back to green as she reached out her hand, a small ice pack forming in her palm, which she placed gingerly against his rather egregiously pummeled stomach.

"...I think you're okay. Sorry. I didn't realize going to the hospital was so dangerous. I let my guard down."

Asuka breathed a faint sigh of relief as the situation seemed to resolve itself. It took her a little longer to do, but using her sister's projection as a reference, it wasn't hard for her to trace a more permanent solution. A sheet of plastic appeared first, followed by a simple square block of ice wrapped up inside.

"I think my Quirk's a bit better suited to this," She said, holding up the bag she'd made and passing it to her sister's wounded friend. "Well, unless you're set on staring at Wonderboy here for another twenty minutes or so." Fumika looked up, blinking with surprise. Her own projection faded out, so she didn't seem to object. That was good, at least.

"Go on," Asuka said dismissively, motioning to the figure who had just rolled out into the hall. "Better check on your friends. It's what you came here for, right?"

It wasn't her place to get involved, after all. These people didn't know her in the slightest. It was unfortunate that they'd been hurt, but it really wasn't any of her business to butt her nose into their problems. She'd be much more useful here.

"...Thank you," Fumika said quietly, and quickly shuffled away, evidently going to inspect the boy who had just passed by in the wheelchair. Asuka exhaled quietly, giving a sarcastic whistle of "surprise."

"Wow. That's rare. She must be really worked up if she's actually thanking me for anything." She sighed, shrugging to the blue-haired boy slouched beside her before casting one last glance back at her sister.

"Worked up" didn't even begin to cover it, really. Sure, it had been surprising hearing Yoshida screaming like that out of nowhere, but even so... Asuka had never seen her sister react so defensively to... almost anything, really. It had almost looked like she was going to take a swing at that girl as she left. Then again, maybe that had less to do with the fact that someone had screamed, and more to do with who it was...

She glanced back to the boy beside her. Yeesh. Talk about scary.

As Roy passed her by, Fumika's eyes once more went red as she looked him over. What she saw... wasn't pretty. His body was bruised and bandaged from head to toe, with minor cuts and scrapes here and there. Although his skeleton seemed intact, his muscles were torn in multiple places. But what alarmed her most was the fact that underneath the bandages, his skin was burned and twisted in a way that was all too familiar to her.

Obviously, asking "are you alright" was pointless in this sort of situation. Even she wasn't stupid enough to miss that. He had sustained injuries that could be frankly described as horrific, and was currently confined to a wheelchair. But at the same time, she felt like she should have had something to say. Maybe something like "What happened?" But that wasn't quite right either. She knew, more or less, the situation. Asking him to rehash it was just redundant, and he probably wouldn't want to talk or think about what he'd just gone through, anyway. Then... what? Before she could think of anything, he'd already passed them by, and she watched him go in silence.

...Mentally, she kicked herself. She should have said something. He'd been hurt terribly, and she didn't even know what she was supposed to say. It was just like when... just like when...

That was when the reading from what she'd recorded behind him as he exited the room finally caught up with her. Fumika's gleaming ruby-red eyes went wide and faded to a pale, ghostly blue-white, a shift in color that her face quickly mimicked as she blanched, staring with a look somewhere between disbelief and horror through the doorway.

The beeping of an EKG. The white curtains, fluttering in the spring wind. A dark shape, lying prone in front of her. The words dying in her throat as the enormity of what had been lost forever settled upon the room like a crushing weight.

She stepped into the open doorway as if in a trance, not entirely aware of what she was seeing - or if aware, still not able to believe it.

"Takeshi... Your arm..."
Well, since I was asked not to continue for Weeb, we're basically just waiting out the ban. Still here, though. @VitaVitaAR
I mean, wasn't his ban because of an out of character dispute? He's not causing any trouble OOC on the forum regardless of whether or not I continue to keep his character "alive" as an intermediary and present in the RP so that he can resume play when his ban is lifted in about two weeks. If I'm specifically told to stand down by a mod, or if it makes the other people in the RP uncomfortable, of course I'll stop, since I don't mean to violate any rules or cause any inconvenience out of character by making things easier on him to rejoin. But if nobody minds, I'd rather just uphold the status quo. Admittedly, that's for selfish reasons, since we kinda did a lot of planning for goofy shenanigans and stuff and I really don't want to have to rethink Nephy's entire arc. ^^; But regardless, if it's alright with everyone else, I'd prefer if we didn't completely leave him behind.

Six long, spindly legs worked clumsily in tandem with two more humanlike ones, pattering quietly over the underside of the metallic edifice. The girl's crimson eyes flashed in the shadows as she hung suspended from a vast array of almost imperceptibly fine webs, her hair fluttering in the breeze as she stared down into the river below.

It really was incredible. She'd only been sleeping for a few hundred years, but the world outside had changed so much in that time. The humans who once had been hard-pressed to even swim properly had now created something like this enormous bridge from which she hung, spanning from one bank of the wide current to the other. The tiny village she'd known in her time had become a gigantic, towering forest of buildings, and there were so many new things she hadn't the slightest inkling of. It made her so curious, she'd just had to find out more, despite her misgivings.

That was definitely the reason why she hadn't stayed close to her familiar lake. It definitely had nothing to do with how disgusted the mere sight of the place made her, or how it made her think about the way she'd been tricked. That definitely had nothing to do with it at all. No, all of this was a brilliant plan to gather information, and this bridge at the center of town was the perfect place to do just that. Its giant structure of supports would hide her from view from anyone passing below, it was damp and dark in just the right way, and there were so many different intersecting beams that weaving a truly comfortable web was child's play for her. Of course, she'd done her best to conceal the shimmering strands from view, but since most traffic passed over the bridge rather than under or around it, she doubted anyone would have been in the right place to look up and see it anyway.

And, on top of all that, there were plenty of her comrades in the area. A large tribe of water spiders had quickly yielded to her influence, and were presently spreading up and down the river in search of information. So far, though, their reports had been so confusing that she really didn't understand them very well, beyond the fact that the humans had apparently made some really crazy stuff... And that they apparently didn't believe in Youkai anymore, which was strange, because so many of the people she'd met had been looking for them anyway. Apparently there were already a Kitsune and an Oni in the area - a fact which made her a little bit uncomfortable, since she'd never really dealt with any of her fellow Youkai before. There were also rumors of a lady spider, too, though. That one sounded interesting!

...But of course, she could only sit around doing nothing for so long. Oriko - no, Nephila - was very curious, very bored, and most importantly, very hungry. A report from one of her spiders told her that apparently, all the Humans were freaking out about a bolt of lightning that had struck somewhere, and since she didn't have anything better to do, she figured she'd go see what all the fuss was about. So, dropping gingerly from her web and to the ground a few stories below, she dusted herself off, folded all of her legs up underneath her skirt, and, humming a tune to herself, set off on a course that would take her to where the spiders had said that the lightning bolt had struck.

...At least, probably. She wasn't very good with directions.

Toriyama Itona

"'Will you walk into my parlour?' said the Spider to the Fly."

Seventeen year old Toriyama Itona had been hearing that in his dreams a lot lately, for whatever reason. It was bad enough that a children's poem about an arachnid kept popping into his dreams, but repeatedly? He wanted to sit down and have a lengthy chat with whoever or whatever was in charge of his subconscious. As he left the grounds of his school he thought about all the rumors that had been swirling around. Aliens, ghosts, youkai. The only thing missing were the UMAs and and human sacrifices.

Then there was the lightning strike out of the clear blue sky. Absolutely bizarre, and there was physical evidence to prove it. Something like that wasn't outside the realm of possibility, Itona knew. It just required the right circumstances in the atmosphere, and blah-blah-blah...

Try not to overthink it, he reminded himself. The young man donned a pair of headphones and turned his music on. He'd grown up with crazy rumors in Minazawa his entire life, and he'd absolutely loved them as a child. Until that one event, that is. Toriyama shook his head, as if the action would dislodge the memories. His mind went back to some of the rumors. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a beautiful fox-woman was around that old temple? His lips twitched into a small smile at the thought. If that was the case, I'd be willing to join that "Society in Search of the Supernatural" club.

But, knowing my luck, it'd be one of those that lures cherry boys and herbivore men in and kills them.

And then there was that rumor of a jorōgumo...

Itona shuddered. Nope, nope, nope. Not even going there!
Internet's back! Working on a post now. Also, since Weeb's been temporarily banned from the site, I'll be taking over posting for his character until he gets back, since we kinda coordinated a lot of stuff and I'd hate to have it go to waste. So, if anyone's wondering why I'm posting stuff for his character as well as my own... yeah, that's why.
I've finally made it to college, so expect me to post shortly as well. Just gotta resolve some issues with my internet because I'd really rather not try to make an entire post on my phone. @_@
Doesn't seem like there's terribly much for Oriko to respond to yet, so I'll probably wait until a couple other people post before she starts stalking people. :P
