OOC is up!

It is the seagulls that wake you up. The cheeky birds sound like they are laughing at you and your misfortune. The air around is salty and you feel you are drenched to the bone. Opening your eyes, you see a storm breaking up in the skies above. Looking around, you gather you are on a beach, and if the wreck of the ship nearby is any indication, you have not arrived to your destination. You wonder if you are the only one the sea spat out alive.

Searching around, you only find the items you had on you the other day. For a second you eyeball the remains of the ship and wonder if more of your stuff may have survived the ship shattering on the nearby cliff, before a column of smoke rising from the cliffs above catches your eye.

What will you do?
Game overview

Marooned is a classic fantasy set in original world. The game is intended to be post-by-post, with some tabletop mechanics in the background handled by the GMs. Unlike most guild RPs, Marooned has a map with locations that have prepared scenarios that will be ran by the GMs for the players to interact with. The scenarios have progressive difficulty and are built with multiple possible endings to the game.

That said, the game is built to last a relatively short time in hope to avoid dying and dropouts, leaving plenty of possible sequels based on which ending is reached if the player base remains interested.
Mechanics

Map

The game area is set on a map that will be revealed as the characters explore and travel. If the characters split up, GMs will create personalised maps for each unless they decide to share with the other characters in-game.

Scenarios

Scenarios are special parts of the game map that have special story, rewards and NPCs that will provide advantages to those that find them. Some scenarios will be repeatable to facilitate resource gathering and opportunities for the characters to sharpen their abilities.

NPCs

In certain areas of the map, NPCs may be encountered to assign additional quests, trade items and services or provide advice and aid to the player characters. The characters’ actions will have an impact on their reputation with them, which will affect the services offered to the given character and may even open up a different ending.

Crafting

The characters can find different materials in scenarios and trade them between each other and with NPCs. There is a recipe system created for the game, and players can invent them in two ways - experimenting with the materials, or asking a GM for the end result to be provided a list of components.

Magic

Basic magic, available to every character, works by combining runes to get the desired effect. Much like crafting, you may ask a GM for the runes required for a spell or a list of runes known by your character to create the desired spell yourself, or simply attempt to activate a random sequence of runes to see what happens. Advanced magic, available to well-practiced mages, does not rely on runes to cast.

Races

Each of the playable races - Demons, Dwarves, Elves, Fairies and Humans - has traits that impact your character’s abilities, working to your advantage or disadvantage in situations from combat to exploration to interacting with other characters.

There are other races wandering the world, that will be subject to individual scrutiny by the GMs should you wish to play them.

Take a little poll to help us do better!
How's this?

Can I have a Vanir crew member? I didn't (still) get around to the Atlantis books, I dunno how cold the relations are :S
I wanna, badly, but ugh, time constrains and XCOM2 on discount on Steam xD I'll let you know by Sunday and I might be packing another person with me.
Diamond – Incompatible opinions

“Trust? That went out the window fourteen years ago.” Diamond said, wanting to go with a snarky snort, but in the end, she sounded beaten and sour about it. “I don’t expect any and give little, never implicitly anyway. If I did, I’d have ended up dead or on a whorehouse or something like that a long time ago.”

Then she looked up in the teacher’s eyes. “Trust? Among hunters? Few days ago, I saw a huntress turned grimm worshipper gut one of the number of people I can count on the fingers of one crippled hand that I actually care about, and could, perhaps, after some time working together, ‘trust’. If someone who trained to protect people from the Grimm and was allowed to pass can fall into.. into… wanting to be one with them?! Then who can you trust?” She complained, frustrated and still a bit distressed by the memory. On one hand they are trying to feed her this teamwork, gettogether propaganda, on the other they sent her into 100% situations thus far where she got stabbed in the back. Bullshit detected!

“Rewind again, a week ago, we were set up by a racist maniac and almost buried all evidence of his atrocities, believing he was sending us to relieve the area of grimm. From what I’ve seen this far, this job requires you to look over your shoulder, read between the lines, observe every detail and question everything than working for the mob.”

She smiled inside when it came to detention. Free classes. As if she ever left for anything but a drink, something she could do without. Girl, you have no life! Perhaps no smuggling drinks into the dorm for a while. “I’ll be there. And you’re welcome to pick my head any day, but first I’ll want to know whom you’re allowed to tell how much of what I tell you.” She said, not wanting to go into any details before she knew the shrink won’t tell on her. Better get kicked out and take a chance with the dirty money than jailed, and the rest of the faculty need to be none the wiser.

@NaraK @Crimmy Got something up, sorry. Had the outline of the post in my head but it's a bit hard to find the time to write stuff down at the present.
Diamond - Dentention?

SO the answer was 'roll the dice' You didn't need to consciously focus on not blowing up, but you mustn't be distracted either. Just wonderful, this stuff couldn't possibly be more random. Deciding to forego looks, Diamond let her aura flow freely rather than suppressing it, as she did to calm the glow in her eyes. With a longer blink of the eyes, she looked like a lich again. Well, here's to hoping we don't get a stealth mission in a dark come Friday. Then again, I'll never set a tripwire with headlights for eyes.

Right. Back on topic. "...Yeah. I suppose." Diamond answered the last question. Waste of resources? Losing a pawn too early? School losing face? Oh, society frowning, can never have enough of that. Taking a breath she composed an answer that was the least likely to get her thrown out by the collar, but obscuring least of the truth. "It just never crossed my mind - to ask that is. I'm still not used to this. Actually getting help when I need it. I've been on my own as far as I can recall. Trust doesn't come easily for me, and I expect it equally as little. I'll try to behave." A thought occurred to her. I wonder if she thinks of this as punishment? Hmm. Looks like more of a free lesson or a consultation from over here. Last teacher assaulted me with the output of a Bullhead's reactor as punishment. This one doesn't quite reach the bar.

"Do what you need to do. But I did not have any ill intention doing this." she ended.
