If there are RPs/PM's I need to reply to- I am working on it, I'm a little overladen in life atm. I haven't forgotten about you :)

ALERT- I'm going AFK for a week, anyone that sees this on here, I won't be about to respond, this is to both 1x1s/RPs.

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 14 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy- though I always come back!

Set Tiny Nord up in Colombia in a boat off the coast- basically he's their extract, but also can come in to help get them out! Probably can wreck some hell on the docks before going in and fucking up anything that moves, helicopters and beyond- feel free to go absolutely wild on that one.

Tahlia Harris

Isla Langosta / Lobster Island, Colombia

Fireteam Piranha

Firestarter, Twisted Firestarter

The explosions below were making it clear that Boomer was taking no prisoners, and with his rifle and club, he wasn't going to leave any scalp untouched.

"Noted. Not with that implement, I'm not. Fucking hellfire, Boomer." Tahlia's voice carried a certain sternity to it, yet watching what he was doing, she was rather in shock. It was time to change magazines, on that note, and well, put her eye to the scope again, knowing that the body count he was collecting was now making her sniper fire seem almost anonymous. Mateo must have been straight up a ghost now, and well, she didn't want to know how much she was turning Thiago inside out.
"They're dropping back, but with any sense, there'll be another layer. Let me dent their confidence a little." Tahlia called to Boomer on the comms, loading a new magazine in, this time with something a bit heavier hitting.

Back on the scope, and well, the pyro was right where she needed him. Dragged out of cover, and trying to torch Chuck, well, at the least making his life inconvenient. Trying, and no doubt the flames would be sticky, it wasn't as much of a straight up threat as some of the other troops firing RPGs wildly around him, Tahlia taking out the round in the chamber with a normal round and instead, loading a much heavier, armour-piercing bullet inside from the magazine loaded, one that would certainly get more penetration on.

"Right....let's see.....windage, range....there." Tahlia whispered to herself, and picking him up, adjusted her sighting, noting the composition of the armour. No sniper round she had was getting through him, but oh, a heavy like that should really have known better. You armoured your tanks the same, even Laura knew that, or else your big arse was getting exploded. And with a gentle pull on the trigger, she watched him move and stomp closer, putting fire on Chuck, yet right as he was stationary, being right where she needed him. The round flew and with a loud plink, slapped into the bottom of the flamethrower tank, ricocheting before the true extent was revealed.

The pyro's tank ruptured, and with fuel pouring, it didn't take much for it to light due to the volatile compound mixing with his ignition substance, and suddenly, the guy didn't so much explode as well....get turned into a missile. The flamethrower basically turned into a rocket, and sent him flying into the building he had walked into, and with a loud bang, set off a huge explosion, toasting him and everyone in it alive.

"Aw fucking yeah! Eat shit, cunt! Hope you liked that, Boomer!" Tahlia called into the comms, the excitement coming through, as she adjusted her rifle again, pulling the bolt, a little high on being back in the field, and well, back to work, realising her inner voice had come out.
"Sorry about that. Right. Where were we? Okay, that might help you a bit. Watch for RPGs, they're fortified inside too from the looks from it, but you'll have a little less resistance now. Go inside and get what we need, Spectre is yours. The exos will be able to punch you harder, so make sure you clamp them. However you do that, I will leave that creative part to you. Actually, let me bring you some help on the flank. It'll make your extraction quicker, and if I'm not mistaken....shit, yeah we got more choppers inbound. " Tahlia called out.

"Tiny Nord, you on station? We might need some help on the northern side of the base, where Boomer is moving in. I know, the boat isn't fun, but we haven't exactly got clear airspace. Bring the patrol boat in close, they won't see you coming and hit the flank when you're ready. I think we might be about to make a hell of a lot more heat. I got visual on helis in the far horizon, likely carrying heavy munitions. They do not want to give up Spectre easy..." Tahlia called, knowing that Tiny Nord was on hand for extraction - and while he wouldn't have expected to be getting his hands dirty, the armoured American counterpart to Boomer would certainly be keen to blow shit up. Bringing in more high-calibre support would help, and given the versatility of Tiny Nord's platform, anti-air and anti anyone was always on the cards.

"Right, bear with, Boomer. I need to relocate to get a better shot."

A Closer Look

With Sam supporting Freya down, Skye had the chance to secure the entry point, and well, tidy up the mess of bodies they'd been making. It was a quiet shift, but once they got inside, it would be a lot busier- after all, out here they were surrounded by snow white-topped granite mountains and it was a light dusting that was below feet here in the concrete, so nobody was out here in the pitch black, given they didn't expect trouble. Not the kind that would come in without a trace.

"Negative, Chaos, move to me. Frigga, cover our backs. It shouldn't be far up to me." Skye looked across, the dark blue paint on her face contrasting her burning red hair, professional yet well, a Pict through and through. As much as there was a human being behind those eyes, she looked like someone else, someone that had already pulled plenty of blood on her hands. And she would get plenty more. They had a job to do, and not much time to spare. Skye certainly felt like they were on the clock, and right now, they'd need to get in and out.

Looking across to Sam, Skye tilted her NVGs up for a moment, the Scot looking across intently to Sam, and her visored helmet.

"Alright. I'll stay on point. We might need your hacking skills in a moment, Chaos." Skye added, as she opened the door with a solid clack, moving inside and through the concrete walls, rifle raised, intent and sweeping, following the signage and covering the corners as best as she could within the lit-up environs inside.

Moving through the corridor, Skye moved slow on the approach to the observatory galley itself.

"Okay. Few inside. Slow and smooth, no rush." Skye retorted, hearing voices on the other end, and with it, gently pushing the door open, the telescope in a cradle above with its own cut-out with corridors below, filled with equipment and workbenches, like a library meeting a highly scientific laboratory. Moving slow, Skye readied up, keeping the rifle at a point position, as she picked out the first two on the walkway next to the telescope itself, clattering rounds into them as the others reacted, Skye letting Sam take on the other two closer to the actual optic itself, as Skye got to work on the far end of the room. They'd have a limited time to sort this before they got onto their communications, but given the work they'd done outside, they would have enough.

Moving around the corner, the man used his Glock to fire a couple rounds back, as Skye used his trace to get him out of position, and shot a couple rounds into his legs, baring his head and slapping another round in. With the room clear, Skye called it into the comms, reloading her magazine as she did so.
"Sound seems to contain well in these walls. But this is getting bloody. More of them awake than I liked. Scientists are up, but there's barely any." Skye called, giving the ping for the team to regroup at the end of the room, this time, one away from the specific one that Skye really wanted. Control Room.

Arriving on the door of that room following a short corridor, it was almost like a NASA-like arrangement, quiet for the night with a handful of technicians in the glass-adorned office. A singular guard in there visible through the glass window in the wooden doorframe. And with it, Skye nodded to Sam, as she moved inside and pushed first, and with barely a flinch, slotted the man with a headshot with the MCX tilted on her shoulder, splatting him into the floor as the techs yelled, Skye filling the void first with her booming voice.

"Freeze! Hands on your head, or you get a bullet, comprendo?" Skye yelled, rifle raised, the two technicians doing as asked, as Skye rushed in, the speed she had from the exo just adding that extra something to make her look very much not like the other man she'd just taken out.

"We're not here to hurt you. Just don't do anything stupid, answer my questions, and you might survive. Alright?" Skye called to one, switching into Spanish for the rest of the conversation, accented yet the one tech nodding, in absolute shit-filling fear at the look of Skye towering over her, rifle in hand, looking somewhat inhuman.

"Shit, ok! What do you want? Please, we're just working on the satellites, we have nothing to do with her mercenaries, please!"

"Exactly, so you can do some work. The Project Mercury satellite network. Can you take the data off it, and download it? And think about what I said earlier, no time for wrong answers. Because we can do it the hard way."

"It's not possible. Please, I beg! It's coded in a quantum-encrypted key for removals from the base station, there's no way, no way! We're just making sure it stays in orbit, and sending data....don't shoot, please!"

"Well, shit. Plan B then. I need you to drop the satellite. Right here, right now. There's a valley down there between us and the town, put it there. I know you can do it, it's reinforced. Quantum key or not, direct entry will always work." Skye simply retorted, watching as suddenly, the other technician raised his voice, concerned and realising that this wasn't going to end well for either if they did as the Scottish lady said.

"No....you don't understand, they'll....they'll kill us anyway. And if it hits...it'll....well, it'll be a big boom." The tech said to the other, as Skye lurched in closer between them, the slight whine of her exo and her mere look one of absolute, fire-starting rage, given how she was between the two.

"I can make it look convincing you had a gun to your head. Your chances are better than us just killing you both and figuring it out." Skye added, leaving silence for a few seconds, letting them soak this up, at least process that she was in their language, and well, certainly making a point of it.

"Okay, okay. I can do that. We can take it down. Please, I have kids, I don't want to die..."

"So do all the people you're hurting with this. You might yet live." With that, Skye looked across knowing he was back at work, to Sam and the others, headed over to the man on the ground. Ripping his headset off, Skye put ear to it, and heard the various chatter. They were right now finding bodies, and well, they had zero idea of what the hell was going on. They were being ripped apart by ghosts clearly, and the alarm would soon follow once that happened.

"Well, that was fun while it lasted. Chaos, get to disabling the anti-air system here. I think we may need to get ready to loud. Frigga, there's a QRF headed our way. Find somewhere quiet, and rip them a new one, would you? I'll leave your surprise to you. Meantime, I'll make sure we get our satellite down with these two. Once we're done, we'll need to chase it and get to it before they do. Which means that ATV, and those motorcross bikes in Hawk's hold might come in handy for us." Skye added, giving instruction to the other two, knowing shit was going to hit the fan soonish.

"We may need some help, mind." Skye called, as she put hand to ear, knowing that now they may as well as the fact that they were seconds from an alarm.

"Hawk, this is Queen, we're going to need support within ten minutes. Prep the VTOL for fire support, and I'm going to fire a GPS marker for where we might need some transportation once we're outside."

Somewhere in Geneva, Switzerland

Two Years Ago

Lynx's Teeth

The white-haired older man sat with a set of aviator glasses on, the quiet evening cafe in Geneva as cosy as it could be- and sitting upstairs in the quiet, empty room, outside the Jet d'Eau, it was as unassuming it could be. Set out for him, and his partner to meet, and discretion even here was helpful. But then again, when you may have been public enemy number one, but looked like every other banker in this city, that just came easy. It felt strange to be sitting opposite to the person he wanted to see- the redhead herself, Lynx. Quite the figure, from what he had read. And how remarkable it was to have her on board.

"I almost didn't think I'd get this meeting." He spoke with a cold unassuming tone, it must have been Scandinavian in origin, but it felt so international, it almost dissolved anonymously.

"Neither did I, Christian. But I guess we had some mutual friends, and some mutual views." Lynx responded, the grey-shirt, jeans wearing counterpart at the table as stoic as ever, her charm back on as usual, a grin hiding a calculated, firm look behind the woman that sat there, a demeanour that almost looked steely past and through the sunglasses he wore.

"Yes, indeed. I'm glad you view things similarly. Tell me, what do you see, when it comes to our work? What is it that you're looking at the most?" He asked, raising his sunglasses for just a second, revealing his bloodshot eyes.

"World's on fire, and well, some preparation wouldn't go amiss. That is you lot seem to offer. So I thought it may as well be worth putting myself on your side. I did my homework. I know what you are, what you want, who you're made of. Some I don't agree with, but that's never the point when you need to make change."

"Agreed. I assume it's not money you want, with the way you talk?"

"Not really. You don't need someone with money to change things. Just the key and a place in what's next. Your organisation wants change and someone to do it with. So do I, and I can offer you that. I'll personally make your wildest dreams happen, and anyway, you need someone like me who can make a template. Get things done where money can't buy talent. You need an investor with capital at risk in this, someone who is willing to die to make a world they might not live in. I expect some parity for that, not like one of your mercenaries, but as someone who has done, well, what you know I'm capable of."

"And you realise that the directors will not like this, don't you?"

"I'll give them what they want within two years. They'll be safe and sound. Comfy even. I expect you don't trust me. Just give me what I need and you will in time."

"I trust you. They won't."

"Well, there is one aspect you might want to see. Maybe it will convince them a little more. You know little about me. But I'll show you who you really do want to know about." She replied, and taking it out from her jean pocket, rather than Christian being the one to do it, it was Lynx, the hand revealing the image, and then, placing it onto the table.

The picture was pushed across the table, the Polaroid displaying a red-haired operative in an exoskeleton in a blurry CCTV image, that white-haired man could see as nigh identical to Lynx in front of her.

"So how is it you are you doing two jobs at once these days? I thought you just did work for SIS? A spook, right?" The question was clear, his eyebrows raised, given the situation, and well, how impossible this had to be. Lynx's look turned to a grin, as she leaned in forwards, pushing her cup of coffee aside, very much aware this one, oh, this would get him right away.

"Well...if I told you how, I'd have to kill you. She does seem awfully similar to me."

"Heh, well, I'll be damned. Well. Lynx, whoever you are. You may be quite useful yet."
@BigPapaBelial

The stakes are only getting crazier from here- I look forward to throwing hell at them!
@Jamesyco

Nice, accepted! Throw them into characters and I'm happy for you to get stuck in.

Interestingly - I'd actually like him to be on the Colombia job if he could be based there- perhaps coming in with the patrol boat for extraction as a reinforcement? I'm gonna work out a way of introducing him in the next post as it'll be fairly entertaining to have a couple of heavies in the mix!
@Jamesyco

Keen to have you back on! You may need to hang on until the end of the scenarios (not too far away but feel free to tinker away and reintroduce the character perhaps in the background (like between his deployments perhaps) if you like! That said, post him up and add him to the chars- happy to fill you in or feel free to read where things have gone down.
RAVEN SQUAD

Raven Squad is a variant on an RP idea I've had for years, focussing on a military / spy-fi RP that takes influence from a range of sources. It's bombastic, over the top, ridiculous...and definitely an RP that lends itself to not being too serious while having a teeny bit of grounding. Trying to save the world isn't ever going to look totally realistic, right?

This is a rebooted RP, based on a few variants of the RP that have come before and is open to new applicants- the new IC and OOC is LIVE!

roleplayerguild.com/topics/190121-rav…

Taking influence from everything from an awful lot of video games and films- Titanfall to MGS, Rainbow Six to Arma and Bad Company among many others- with a sprinkle of a little insanity on top and a teeny bit of grounding to set up a near-future foe, this RP isn't exactly focussed on absolute tactical precision nor complete fantastical elements. It's hard to describe but if you're somewhere between The Expendables, MGS, Overwatch and Rainbow Six, it's roughly that with around the right amount of silly and serious and a dynamic team of elite misfits.

Interested? Read on and the setup and all the details are below.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Setup:

Raven Squad (RS) is a mysterious task force, working against the forces of global terrorist groups in the near future (roughly 20 or 30 years from now) who often who are armed with quite advanced technology- or nefarious political aims. Al-Qaeda it isn't, so in come our operatives. In a world where mechs are prototypes, exoskeletons, jump-packs, optical cloaking and various other technologies are around the corner, the tide of warfare is changing...and Raven is there to stop the worst happening.

Raven Squad have access to that technology, and six of the most elite operatives that made it through a gruelling process to counter the threat. With different specialists allowing the team to have everything from a scalpel-like precision to brute force with heavy firepower, they act as a counterbalance.

Where an SF team cannot penetrate, Raven Squad come in. When a politician needs to go, they come in. When you have ten foot mechs trying to breach a high-security Gulag and you need those fuckers removed, they come in. Raven Squad are the people that stop the world ending as we know it. Problem is, they're a little dysfunctional- and well, they're not all the most....professional of soldiers, or spies, or agents, or well, anyone who is capable of getting the job done.

---------------------

The Story So Far....

Quite a wild ride!

Raven are fighting against Artemis Group- a anarchic paramilitary serving a global elite's neo-Malthusian dream. Or in a nutshell, really bad guys wanting to do lots of bad.

Raven have been involved in rescuing data from a Austrian mountain site, hunted an Artemis HVT, before moving onto disrupting an arms deal containing nuclear rods- not before getting hit themselves. They have bounced back on a mission worthy of James Bond in Singapore to take down a tech CEO. That has led to their current operation - hitting two of Artemis's super-weapons in the jungles of Colombia and the mountain peaks of Chilean Patagonia.

Things are never that simple though, and the team's real enemy still needs to be seen dead in the eye.

Wicked Wicked, Jungle is Massive

The explosions and violence was quite something, Tahlia glad to be enjoying it from afar, the sight of Boomer blowing shit up and decapitating folks left right and centre quite a delight. Chuck didn't need a big machine gun or flamethrower to raise hell, he just blowed stuff up, and made himself clear to be a terrifying, overwhelming centre of attention.

"Copy. Remind me not to chat shit about your mum." Tahlia replied quietly, the noise that he was making drowning it out. She picked up a couple of guards, and with a pick, dispatched them out, eliminating them before they could focus fire on Chuck's side, clattering them with a satisfying drop. So far, so easy, the near invisible Kiwi in the bush getting the job done, like she always did. She didn't miss her marks. That was too much a hunter's instinct, there were no wolves in Aotearoa but there were big buck deers and well, you wanted a clean hide. Working on a farm had taught her that, and well, it came through right here she'd have her quarry clean.

"Shit, eyes on Spectre. Boomer, I got eyes on the guy running inside the large lodge, looks like a reception of sorts, possibly to a safe room there. He's got some more serious protection nearby, I got guys with exos, and a lot more response. They certainly know you're there, they are going to throw everything at you. Throw it back, over!" Tahlia added, chambering another round, sniping another man on the lodge roof, clearing the mag and reloading, the sniper sending rounds down range like no tomorrow given the attention Boomer had on him. Men were dropping, but they had no idea from what angle, it would have seemed like an army was inbound, yet it was one guy and his dog ripping shit apart.

With it, Tahlia prepared herself, seeing a few more sweep up, modern weapons and modern arms. If Boomer was going through the cartel guards like they were paper mache, even despite their numbers, this reinforcement was going to throw a hammer back at him. Just the way he would like it, apart from the large armoured pyro that had emerged, just under seven foot and head to toe in heavy armour, the kind that would rival Boomer's albeit being a little more primitive. He wouldn't have much chance at getting through Boomer, but well, fire was always unexpected as mercs with exos moved around him. Tahlia clattered one in midair, sniping him out of the sky and sending him clattering into a shipping container with a loud "clank".

"Oh damn, now....woah. That is a big boy. Big armoured contact with a flamethrower's coming through. He could make one hell of a bang....keep him occupied. I might have a bead on him."

When Tahlia was ready, she'd do what she'd need to do with a rifle bullet on Boomer's call- it would make one hell of a bonfire, and a hell of a two for one.

Lyons in the Streets, Highlander in the Sheets

Running across, Skye followed Sam, the rifle in a tactical stance, the two down from the gigantic ass of the American come Norwegian come Russian come French giant's rear, and well, now in position to start clearing up. Sam had already pinged out targets and recognised their routines, which was helpful. The thin ridgeline felt tricky to run on, but Skye's exo-lined boots clung to it tight, and stuck well on the surface.

"Affirmative. Good spot, ping received." Skye coldly replied, the dark blue-faced Scot moving on Sam's command, the pointwoman giving good instruction as Skye shouldered the SIG, holding it at cant yet keeping the laser off. It was more likely than not the guards had night vision goggles of their own, so up close, Skye wasn't going to risk anything here. Clambering over a wall, Skye turned the corner and with the exo turned down a little to avoid noise, moved left, headed up, rather than down. Instead of the alcove where the ATV was, Skye headed high and up onto the next level, at the top to the main guard tower. Night shift would be parked up in there, and Skye had her plans already to set things alight. Quick, stern and fast, and it would get Freya in, already hearing Sam clear up a few enemies of her own with knives, before Freya sorted axes into a couple more.

Time for Skye to catch up, then.

She heard a couple of guards out for a smoke break, their American accents making it clear they were paid mercenaries, and well, in gucci gear, wearing kevlar and certainly well protected. Not enough from Skye, who could just listen in on them, and lying down poked the rifle around the corner, and clacked a couple of times, the barrel barely visible. Both headshots, and clean enough to wipe them fast, as she stood up, dragging bodies out of the way, at least, in a position they wouldn't be immediately spotted. A couple more were ahead, another detail as she hugged the stone wall, letting them come close, and right as she needed to, letting them just come by side. With it, Skye angled the longer rifle up at one of them and splatted, before kicking the other down with a solid charge, wrapping them into the ground and turning, standing and then headshotting the man. Same routine again. With that, Skye moved along the walkway, the thermal on Skye's headset bringing up the heat signatures visible through a window ahead, as she readied herself. This was going to be a brutal one, given there was about four as Sam had called. But they weren't armoured, she could tell from their heat signatures, so she switched out to her FN, the pistol cocked as she slung her rifle, and moved across the small courtyard, sweeping the area, before lining up to the door. Turning the exo up, she could feel it's whine, and readying up by the hinge, she gave it a gentle knock.

"Yo, get back to..." The voice on the other side called as it opened, Skye holding her pistol directly high and clapping, before kicking the door straight in off its hinge, slamming into one of the men before she Mozabique'd the other, two bullets to chest and one to head, before putting the rest of the magazine into the last man in the tower, to the side of the metal door she'd basically sent at him.

"Guard tower, and upper deck clear. Observatory level, alcoves down below are busy and below that, the interior will be very busy. Frigga, clear for drop. Chaos, latch her down, or Frigga'll come on her own. Once you're down, regroup on me." Skye called into the comms, reloading her magazine, leaving the mess behind, knowing that this time around, finding their radios was going to be tricky- they were encrypted and from what Skye could tell, very well armed and equipped. A firefight loud with them once they knew they were here would get loud- they had Panzerfaust 3s, M240s and grenade launchers, so they were clearly ready for world war three if it hit this place, Skye reasoned.

Leaving the guard tower, Skye moved across the small courtyard, the MCX back in hand, as she perched herself up by another spot, watching a couple of guards come out of the structure itself, a little way away. Eye down optic, Skye plinked a grouping of rounds down range, instantly downing the first, before the second turned and tried to raise, before he got clapped with a couple of rounds, one to the chest knocking him straight into view for Skye's next. It was artistry, when Skye was operating as she exhaled, reloading the magazine itself, moving and slick in the way she did, exo turned back down to just save battery and noise.
"Moving to an entry point. There's signs for the main observatory itself, and it looks like the main console is below it." Skye retorted, shouldered up by the door, covering it in case any more came along- the top deck would be a solid place for Freya to land, and it had a stairwell to where Sam was, by the ATV.

Ten Years Ago

Lynx's Stalk

The orange-haired woman yelped, as she was pulled out of the ice-filled water bucket by the fine strands that were left, the young-face free of scars, cuts and bruises, but about to get some.

"Talk, you 'orrid fackin' bitch! Tell me, what were you doing?" The girl looked unfazed, if anything, distant, removed, and more than anything, staring him back into the eyes.

"Lynx, zero, one, four, zero, zero, two." Her accent was flat, her tone neutral, her response like this was back to usual settings, not a cold warehouse in the Welsh Valleys.

The man looked across her back, the girl nude, sodden, and completely, totally at the mercy of her captor. Tattoo on her back, that of a lynx in fact. This isn't exactly a pleasant scene, but the man could make some observations of her in this state, knowing that she'd break, sooner rather than later. Violence usually broke people in time.

"Interesting. Tattoo to match it too."

"Maybe. They teach you how to recognise animals?"

With that, the woman got hit in the ribs as he swung with a violent backhand, hard with the truncheon, getting knocked onto the floor, and at this point, lucky not to hurt more.

"You think you're funny, do you? I won't ask again, what was your mission?" She was dazed, but looking back at him, stark, feeling the blood pool in her mouth as she looked up at him, hurting, but slowly, surely, snarling.

"Yeah. Enough to know you didn't think of going this far."

The man looked in shock, as the girl grinned at him, and he could only come over to do almost as he was told. Taken back, but well, about to beat the ever loving shit from her now. Irrespective of what was meant to happen.

The girl didn't think so. With her bound hands, it wasn't hard to find an opportunity to raise her hands as he went to swing, pulling on his baton painfully, and then with a wry turn, barging into him hard from the floor, tackling his legs before swinging the truncheon back against his neck, slamming hard into a chokehold, and pushing hard, till she could feel him go limp.

Looking into the black, half shattered mirror of the concrete room, she knew what this was as she stood, bound yet somehow, very unbroken. Her stare was icy cold, her voice like a dagger, and her demeanour very much not of interest right now.

"Drugging me wasn't part of the deal. Come on now. You know what I'm capable of. Let's skip the semantics and go straight to business, ey?"
@BigPapaBelial

Lots to break down!

So, by chapter by chapter, here are what I would add to it:

Prologue End: Probably getting nearly killed, given the response and the level of escalation. They get their intel from Edgar and they deliver the proof of life, but shit goes very, very badly. They are nearly into the clutches of the Hyena for hunting him and all seems like this could end incredibly quickly- but as you describe, things go extremely south and they get rescued by someone from the Pack.

Chapter 1: Probably picking COGS, despite the fact it nearly killed Sean/Beth, they haven't got a choice and well, they're another pair of white faces. Likely trying to get an in with some higher up people, realising that well, they got absolutely span around hunting the Hyena and try another tack of playing the mercs off against each other to build up currency, resources and time. Sean and Beth are beginning to heal a bit, and Beth in particular starts to become much more cold. They take the money because they're broke, and use it to tool up with much more serious equipment- in particular, actual amenities to live, including back to another pickup, small arms among other bits.

Chapter 2: Interesting setup- probably realising they can keep their head down and trying to figure out their exit strategy. They still want the Hyena dead, but chances are, Sean and Beth are now a little holding back because they've been run ragged and are just taking the time to get themselves together in the new encampment. They take work for Edgar as they need to get away from both factions for a bit and with a foothold, start getting back at the Hyena. Long term, they'd reason- they have to get the Hyena somehow, and playing both sides, whilst staying gray is in their best interest, not taking as many sides as usual and racking up bodies (till the detonation).

Chapter 3 (4?): Sean and Beth come to a serious disagreement- Beth wants to help the Hyena to get in close and end this after being contacted about making his business boom, while Sean doesn't, with a focus on the fact that this needs to stop somewhere, the Hyena is probably lying and ultimately, their mission is now a failure given how serious the firepower coming their way is- so they split ways and well, for the first time ever, we see them operating completely at odds. I think both play out- while an evacuation happens, a firebombing occurs and through an incredibly bloody fight, Beth kills Victor and all around, a humanitarian shitshow plays out. They meet up in the aftermath of the fighting, both incredibly dazed, disillusioned and at breaking point.

Chapter 4 (5): Possibly a merger of both scenarios- Sean tries to run north but can't leave, while Beth stays with the Hyena's pack east, hoping to snag him off at the end. It leads to both being contacted by both the commander and the hyena- and clearing loose ends, with Beth realising the ultimate realisation of the fact this won't end, ever, and the Hyena is only a figurehead that killing won't change a thing- and Sean is now critical to this because he's the only way they have out at all, both the "Hyena" and the commander having to die if they have any shot at leaking through the border. They've been at odds yet are in complete agreement all of a sudden- both realities were right, and sadly, there's no win state other than to create a smoke cloud and run. After all, if nobody knows who the Hyena is, any body will do, right? She agrees to help cut loose ends- she'll kill the Commander in a trade for Sean faking the kill of the Hyena (via someone high up in the Pack's organisation) to keep up plausibility, and at the end of it, they do just that, with whoever is on whoever's side of that equation. It works out, just about, and they head east in the Hyena scenario to the border, and out of the conflict zone.

Ending:

I'd argue killing Hayden is probably more sensical- by this point, it's likely that the team have realised he's off his head, and Sean has to be the one to do the deed, being someone who was probably closest to him due to their similar attitude and overlapping personalities. Sean is barely holding it together, but he still has a semblance of what normality looks like. That said, the Hyena's life is not exactly great either- he disappears and becomes a grey man, and another one appears to be the "Hyena", proving that ultimately, it's just an arms dealing cartel that is faceless, formless and shapeless, making money indirectly for the right, and wrong governments on whim. His conscience to do the right thing is because he knew it went too far- but ultimately, someone has to pay that price. The Pack has problems, but here is where I think something interesting could happen.

Well, this is the bit I was really unsure about.

That said, all in after it's all said and done, I don't think it's a happy ending for Sean and Bethan. Writing their dynamic has been interesting because it's what happens when the love runs out in a relationship and instead, a hollowing happens- Sean is driven by a selfish dependency on violence, the kind a football hooligan might need in being warm blooded and able to deal with the hustle- but depressingly, if anything, it's because while not suffering from PTSD, at his core, he can't go back to being "civilian" - being a warrior is all he has, and he is addicted to being a mercenary now, it fills the void dealing drugs and working in gangs at home did, and most of all, he gets a very, very good life from it. Beth on the other hand started with her compassion, albeit a cold detachment in her work, and it affects her because she has no trust- because of her other half's behaviour. It evolves into her being a panther-like operative, quiet and able to adapt and rather than going in with heavy firepower, stalking, dropping and eliminating targets coldly and with precision. If Beth was good as a Marine before, she's now the other side of Sean's coin- a brooding, cold and calculated shooter that doesn't work on assaults and chaos, but on precision, torture and good black-box work. A thorough professional, but one that does it because it is needed, and her humanity is still there in terms of doing the right thing or at least, justifying the ends for the means.

This is what SIS adore, because it's like a special forces training bootcamp, but on steroids. Beth is a perfect operative- psychologically resilient enough to behave, and adaptable enough to do their dirty work- they kept their eye out while pulling British citizens out and now know what they have. Sean on the other hand, is a complete fucking rascal. So, Beth has her choice to make that was depicted at the start. She can go back to her life, hell, has a job offering. And a lot of money, and Sean should be getting the same. But they tell it true- Sean cannot come back to the UK given his reputation, and he accepts it after she tells him straightaway the situation, knowing full well there's no going back for him after some of the shit he's done and besides, there is a much better offering he can probably take. Working with the Pack is rather lucrative and can give him far more than a crap house in North Wales, and he has killed enough people by now to scare the shit out of people, earning him respect yet fear. Beth on the other hand is a ghost, and wants nothing but out of this, back to a regular job that pays and keeps her head low.

So let's just say some simple things have happened in the RP here to my two- Sean has become the bastard he truly can be, violent yet smart enough to navigate it, and fully embraced it, while Beth has watched her remaining innocence get taken they are doing it for the right reason- her beliefs in saving lives, her hope in people, all of it is eroded and gone. Beth is this quiet, clever operator because she survives, and does what is needed to live, while now while Sean's is full to the brim with the ability to thrive in that environment, and he wants nothing more than more of it somewhere else to make money, knowing full well, he's never going to go home. This horrifies Beth positively- they are now both broken and absolute savages, but one considers herself able to hold it together, knowing the other relishes it now.

Hate is stronger bound by history, and for them it's absolutely true. Instead of making them value each other more, while both becoming bloody, terrifying mercenaries, the outcome is almost stark.

Beth realises this and knows she has to fake his death alongside the Hyena, knowing if he's been swallowed whole and is so addicted to it, her humanity is going to die with his- and well, it's an easier story for SIS to buy. That's what happens- and Beth and Sean part ways, agreeing that this can't carry on, there is too much hurt and that while they love each other a lot, this can't ever be how it continues.

Except, SIS make it clear the now know what's going on. In the Hyena's place, a serious arms smuggling ring is still active and live as the pack continues, selling guns from Britain and western countries in places they shouldn't, with no money coming into the UK at all. In fact, Sean seems to be hanging around a lot of people of the Pack and is alive oddly enough, who have moved on and no less he's using his government paycheck to enable that- Sean's done incredibly well for himself out of all of this and even has his own security team, a shell of the Pack's operations to enable them to make more deals and involve themselves in more civil wars selling guns. He's not the Hyena, he's just an experienced face of it now.

At an airport on the way home she's taken aside and told that the deal is off, unless Sean is killed and given his protection now, and the fact he's out of country, nobody is getting to him easy bar Beth. She has a well paid job in the service as a station liaison in Morocco to look forward to, but any screw ups, and Beth won't ever be able to come back, or will get killed. Innocent he isn't, and Beth is called out on this- who denies it of course, and tells them it's the Hyena's doing while she got out of there after he killed him. Facts are never clear- but the point stands, her other half is now a direct security threat working in the vacuum of the Pack's operations, enabling it. Reminded that Sean is the reason for this whole fuck up in the first place, Beth is also reminded that had the Hyena have actually been killed by Sean, there's a good chance, hypothetically speaking, they would have known there wasn't something right.

Beth meets with him in Cape Town, wanting to exchange a last goodbye, and they head to a dock where he has a private boat now of all things. Talking about the past, Sean asks if she'd do anything differently- maybe getting it back together, living a life of luxury and keeping the money and status, the most of this. He wants to retire early, and put his feet up, watch the football and live out a good life, because this will eventually pay itself to a point where passports and a beach house with money for life are easy to find, as well as legitimate investments. With a tear in her eyes, she tells him nothing at all she would change, and right there and then, drives a knife through his throat, slicing it and dumping him into the sea, dead and dusted. There is no believing him, and no trust, and worse, nobody in there she can recognise apart from someone addicted, not changed, by doing hurt.

Bethan walks coldly out of the docks and into the city, with nobody left at all, tears flowing openly as the very last part of her humanity is now gone, dead with Sean. If Yekatarina is alive, the only phone call Beth makes is to her- and simply put, tells her it is done, there's no more left. If Sean sold her soul, then she made sure she'd never get it back, knowing that like him, there's never going to be any way back to this. The future is left uncertain- but safe to say, the feeling is bittersweet because Beth is now nobody, and never can aspire to go back to any kind of peace ever again, and like Sean has to buy into her version of it now for her days.
@BigPapaBelial

It's sad but totally understand given your situation at the moment- a lot going on. Sorry to hear it man.

I think write out what you had in mind for the chapters, then let's set up an end game.
Tahlia Harris

The Colombian Exchange

Tahlia kept an eye on the encampment, seeing the trace of Mateo move, in cloaked but from her optic, his outline just about visible from her beady eye and the help of a thermal attachment on the sniper rifle. He voice clicked in, as she heard him get to work, cutting through the interior of the base like a ghost. Nobody ever saw him. And nobody would, because the silent Colombian didn't need to add much. Tahlia knew as much as she knew that on the other hand, Boomer and Duke were cleaning out sentries on the far side.

"Taniwha, Boomer, we have a problem. Eyes on Tejedor in compound, alone, Spectre has left for the next compound, looks like a lab and ecolodge. I'm going to need a distraction and can get the intel, and him too. Then leave me to it...you have Spectre and the drugs. I need this." The voice of Mateo carried on the comms, as Tahlia sighed.

"Affirmative, Jaguar. Don't lose your head. Looks like you're on, Boomer. I've pinged the location of the lab and the other buildings across the other side of the compound. Once you raise hell, that is it. Every gun, every RPG is on you and Jaguar can do his business. Remember, the more noise you make, the easier it is for Jaguar to do his business. I've always wanted to see what a heavy can do on a rampage, you have sniper cover from me." Tahlia replied, knowing the team had split objectives, but they would be able to get it done. It would be tricky with Jaguar dark, but Tahlia knew that was how he operated- he needed quiet, and right now, he had it. Boomer on the other hand, had to blow lots of shit up. A Heavy was not invincible, but holy shit, they would need a platoon, if not two to just stop him from turning the place into a tornado site. Spectre alive would be handy, but at this point, they needed to act quickly, or else lose them both.

The Observatory at the End of the World

And it felt like they were, right at the very end, the edge of nothingness, the black sky taking over from pink and orange sunset, and the rocky spires reflecting steadily less, less and less until the stars came out, and it was like an uninterrupted canvas. No moon either, but for lighting, that was good- just the void above and the complete darkness, and the occasional flex of the suit assisted by the pulse jets, and well, it was heavenly.
"Aye, It's beautiful, Chaos. No light pollution. Makes sense that they're here." Skye simply replied, grinning and giggling, enjoying this brief reprieve before the calm.

The darkness felt weird, given Skye was riding Frigga's rear in it, but well, she'd had weirder evenings out, just maybe not with the others of the squad.

"The only thing smoking on this flight is your rotund backside, Frigga. Steady as ever. Your flying, too. Get ready to cut comms once we're past this mountain. Fraid you'll have to pilot this thing alone. Any longwave radio signal after is going to be a risk, encrypted or not. We'll be on our own, until we decide we want to bring Vincent and his noise." Skye replied to their pilot with the same sarky grin she'd shared with Sam, well, the body really of the person they were hanging off of. Going past jagged peaks, and over the glaciers and mountain tops, they drifted quiet, silent and now in almost total darkness, the kind that eyes couldn't get used to. So down came the night vision goggles over Skye's eyes, the blue-tinged quad-optic combined with a clever set of magnifiers and extra tech that allowed her to patch into the network of Sam's helmet cam, Freya's, and no less the suit's even on demand.

It was almost half an hour of travel, and the dark had now swallowed the remaining light out, the cold biting in, and making every surface feel icy, frost forming in patches across the suit, and on Skye herself. Nobody said this was without pain. And while Sam's suit likely had some regulation, Skye was too spartan for that. Extra weight and all, so she made do with the insulation in her fatigues, knowing full well once they were moving. Pain was just something for the body to overcome, another reminder of pushing a biomechanical system to a limit she saw it as, and well, shivering meant it was doing its job. Most special forces warriors were pretty tough, but Skye just seemed to have almost this unmovable, unshakable ability to not let it tap into her. Like she could almost madidate her way through, an almost absurd thing.

But it was coming to a close, and they were nearly, nearly there, as Skye watched through the frontal camera mounted in Frigga's helium suit, seeing the white dome come into view on the night vision, and the large complex below of am observatory, outbuildings and the precipice it sat on.

"Target's in sight. There it is. An observatory at the end of the world, and probably containing the keys to it." Skye called on the comms to the team. This was it.

"Quite the place. Alright, I'll go through the plan again. Frigga gets us to the pinged waypoint, then she pops up onto that thin ridge ahead. Me and Chaos rappel down, and Frigga awaits us to clear the rest of the top two decks on overwatch, before following down from the suit herself and letting it head home. The base will mostly be asleep, but guards will be well equipped, and no doubt, pinned like a rat in a corner if they have to fight. We clear the surface, then we get inside the satellite control room and observatory dome, silently picking off anyone. Then we figure it out from there. Find a way to get the data we need on both all of Artemins, and all of what that system can do. If we're lucky, we go out quiet. If we don't, be ready to fight like hell."

Coming in silent onto the base itself, Skye had the chance to look across to Sam, the night-vision wearing, blue paint having, Scottish team leader mean in her prose. Skye made no bones- she chose practicality every time over form, and whilst not having as sleek and clean a set of equipment as Sam, she looked like a cross of a special forces operator with ultra-gucci gear and her exoskeleton and a Pictish warrior, red hair, blue paint contrasting and the look of absolute fear coming off her body language. Skye was a kind, caring, lovely person, but all of that evaporated when out on mission. There was this almost chilling lack of empathy, the blue light reflecting off her night vision onto her eyes up this close and a fierce, hardened look.

"Alright. I'll take lead, Chaos. Nicely piloted, Frigga, your arse is bare cold now though. Now it's our turn for a show." Skye added, slapping the cheek of Freya's helium suit, and with a gentle check over her rope, let it roll through her hands, sliding off the cheek and down her leg to almost the "foot", well, a little bit further so she was at least clear of the suit somewhat. The view from below looking up was quite....well, it was blocking out her view of the stars, but that wasn't the main attraction, at least, the two men that could spot them was. Freya's piloting was bringing them in close, as Skye saw a couple of guards on the top terrace of the observatory, on an observation deck of some sorts, the kind that were high in the platform itself. There was a whole mess of tunnels below the actual building, but this bit needed to be quickly cleaned out before they went inside.

"Two tangoes, top deck. Nice and easy, Frigga. All mine." Skye retorted with a cold breath, a slight swing backward allowing her to line up her breath, and with it, raising her SIG into position, tapping a couple of times, the rounds clipping both the guards with precision, Skye's handling of the rifle like it was a pellet gun rather than a heavily-pimped battle rifle.
"Clear. Alright, let's get to work. With me, Chaos. Should need a little less thrust now, Frigga, weight's about to shift big time." Skye made short work, as she pulled down on her belay, rappelling down further from off the suit, and coming down with a gentle thump, landing on the tiny rocky ridge that led to the observatory itself. It was about maybe six feet wide, if that, and had a sheer, total vertical drop either side.

"Steady in, Chaos. You have point. If you think we need to split, call it and take your route. Remember, we're clearing Frigga a landing here. So drop anyone you see, quietly and by any means needed. If we go loud straight away, we'll make the odds worse." Skye added, right behind Sam now and with a trusting look. She believed in the American, trusted fully. Knew while this was the dirty end of the job, it had to be done, and hopefully, at the end of this, they'd have some answers, much as the other fireteam would.
