Reaching the millhouse, Kay really hoped that Serena was right about John being okay but when they saw Bane standing there waiting for them, her heart sank as she felt there was only bad news coming their way. The moment Serena stopped the car, Kay was out of it like a bullet and rushing over to Bane, "Where's the others? What's happened with John?" she asked rapidly, panic setting in before she could even control what she was doing or saying.

"Chas he's getting worse!" Josh said as he saw John coughing up blood and getting more and more labored with his breathing. He did not want to be bringing a dead John Constantine back to Kay as he feared how she would react to that. He may not know her that well yet, but he had a feeling it wasn't going to go down well at all and Kay could explode emotionally over that news. Chas nodded and speed up, taking a bunch of short cuts in side roads and similar to get back quicker. "We're almost back" he told him, trying not to curse and punch the steering wheel in the process.
Lexi even surprised herself when she said she wasn't sorry for Dean kissing her, she was even more surprised at herself for leaning in and kissing him yet again but she wasn't regretting it in the slightest. She couldn't deny her attraction to Dean any longer and she knew she couldn't keep telling herself 'no' for the rest of her life either. She let him let go of one of her hands, liking how his hand felt on her cheek as she too deepened the kiss back, following his lead gladly.

The feel of someone's lips on her, the intimacy of the very action felt almost alien to her but it was so welcomed by her head and heart. It made her feel wanted and needed all over again, a feeling that she hadn't realised just how much she craved for all this time until now. Yet despite all that she still found herself mentally praying to her fiancee's soul wherever it ended up that he was okay with her finally making a move to move on with her life.

She could feel how the kiss was deepening more and more and getting more heated in the process as her hands had found their way round his waist from when he pulled her incredibly close to him tightly. She wasn't ready to go any further with him, so when he broke it off and nuzzled her nose with his as their forehead remained in contact with each other she couldn't help but smile as she caught her breath. As she heard him speak she opened her own eyes and looked at him unable to stop the small smile that appeared on her lips when he told her she could stay.

There was some part of her that wanted to stay more than anything, especially now. She couldn't keep living the hunter life solo, she knew that deep down. Yet another part of her that was worried about letting someone else back into her life even if this time round it would be another hunter and a hunter that was reknowned in this industry for surviving just about anything. Despite all of that though, she wanted to know Dean more just like he wanted to know her more and that need to know him and be around him was stronger than her other concerns and worries.

"I'd like that" she replied to him with a smile unconsciously leaning her face more into his hand as he stroked her cheek. She then consciously lifted one hand and placed it over his own, but kept both their hands on her cheek. "I'd really like to stay actually. I can only go solo for so long before loneliness gets too much to bear" she told him honestly. She couldn't say for sure if her departed fiancee would be wholly happy about her making the first steps to move on, but she knew he would want her happy also and if it meant living her life in the past and in fear of losing another loved one, or living life being a hunter but happy with someone else to have her back? He'd surely pick the latter option for her.
"Mhm, likewise" Kay replied to Serena as she let her do the driving back home. "i'm not proud of storming out like a child, but I couldn't take hearing what she was saying about John anymore...I know he warned me that we may come across people who will say shit about him but I didn't think Chas' ex wife would be so callous" she said more. "You know...John actually told me he loved me last night? I really hope he's okay...I can't feel him anymore and it's scaring me shitless" she added.

"You too Bane" Chas replied as he watched Bane vanish back into the shadows and go to find the girls, he walked back to the cab and got in before leaning over and seeing that John was out cold and starting to struggle to breathe. "Shit...we gotta back in his place fast" he said to Josh, turning back to the front and quickly starting the car up again and started driving back to John's home. "Chas, what was that figure and what did they throw at you?" Josh asked as they drove back. "i dunno mate, but she threw a piece of paper addressed to John" Chas explained.
Because she was outside already, she didn't hear the rest of what Trish and Serena was saying to Renee. She was trying to remain civil for Chas' sake but she couldn't take hearing John being bad mouthed so much when she was in the state she was in currently. She only snapped out of it when Trish came out and joined her on the porch. Without saying a word she pulled the kid into her and gave her a hug, needing it just as much as Trish possibly did. She wasn't proud of herself for storming out the house like a child when she was a grown woman, but she felt she needed the air.

As Serena came out and said she was taking them home, Kay sighed with relief, wanting the security of John's place. "no complaints from me." she said, letting go of Trish so she could get up onto her feet and handed Serena the car keys as she really didn't want to drive anymore. "I just wanna go home and crash" she said, walking to the car and got in the passe her side when Serena unlocked it. She sat in the passenger seat silent, unknowing to everything that was going on at John's location.

Josh went to reply to John when he saw him pass out and cursed under his breath. It was then he looked over at everything that was suddenly happening, going wide eyed at what he was witnessing, whilst wondering what the hell was going on. When the mysterious figure disappeared he watched as Bane bent down an dpicked something up off the ground handing it to Chas.

"ain't got a bloody clue mate" Chas replied to Bane, just as confused as he was. He didn't know of many other mages in John's world. He knew of a clairvoyant named Zed, and of the voodoo bloke who went by the name of Papa Midnite but not any other mages that used magic like John did. He took the paper and saw it was addressed to John. "whoever it was, somehow knows John...we better get back then. I'm not surprised somehow that's happened. I'm guessing the girls will go back to John's place" he replied to Bane, tucking the paper in his jeans pocket.
At Renee talking, Kay looked up at the woman as she spoke and spoke so badly of John. If she wasn't so worried about John's life, she would have had a lot of choice words for the woman but it seemed Serena was much more capable of it than she was, as she verbally tore the woman a new one. The moment she realised however that Serena's eyes were glowing, she placed her hand on her friend's shoulder. "Serena...stop. It's not worth getting worked up over." she told her.

She then looked at Renee again, "but know this, you're wrong about John. He may not be perfect, but none of us on this damn planet are. I know for a fact he hasn't just walked out on me. He's hurt and Serena's right, he probably is stupidly doing this to protect me because he loves me. Somehow he found me worth giving a damn about. I don't care for your spat with him, and right now I can't care about how you feel about him, all I can care about is the level of pain and worry I have going on for him right now" she finally managed to say.

"John doesn't love anyone but himself" Renee scoffed back. "that's where you're wrong! He IS capable of love!" Kay spat back before getting up and storming outside, sitting on the step of the porch so she didn't punch Renee, purely for Chas' sake.

Josh listened to John as Chas was already by Bane at this point. "it took Serena to actually make her back down...shes worried sick about you. That head injury you got? She felt it full force, we fou d her practically on the floor and stumbling to leave to get here" he explained.

Chas cracked his knuckles ready to fight them as Bane said they weren't taking the hint that they needed to leave. It was then there was a bright golden light in front of them, swirling in an oval shape as a covered hooded figure stepped out of it and magic with the same energy signature as John's came flying toward the attackers who were on the ground and restrained them tightly. The figure didn't speak a single word and kept their head down, focused and sent the attackers into Hell as they made a giant sigil underneath them and with a blast of golden magic, the attackers were pulled down and gone.

The figure which looked obviously feminine, looked up just enough to smirk at Chas and Bane. With a flick of her hand in goodbye, throwing a folded piece of paper at them in the process, she stepped backwards into the portal and vanished as quickly as she arrived, leaving the paper to fall at both their feet.

'John' was simply hand written on the folded paper in neat italic handwriting, synonymous with someone who was left handed.
"He needs to learn and remember we're a team, he doesn't have to do everything alone anymore" Kay said back to Serena, she didn't care if he was doing this to try and protect her she also wanted to help him. "This is what he does, he lures people in then leaves them high and dry, it's a miracle he's even kept Chas around, though I'm certain its just so he gets a free ride every damn time" Renee's voice came out of the quiet as she had gotten up and stood in the doorway of the living room looking at the girls on the staircase.

"Do you really think Kay would have been okay being left at Renee's house? The girl damn well was stumbling out the door to come after you" Chas replied back to him. "That girl is as stubborn as you are and I know we've told you that enough times already but it's true." he said more, making sure Josh had a secure hold of John as he brought John to the cab with Josh's help and opened the car door, where the two men got John inside. "Do yourself a favour and stay in the damn car" he warned him. "i got this Chas, go help Bane" Josh told him, helping John in the car and staying standing by the door to block John getting out form that side. With a firm nod, Chas jogged back to Bane. "These assholes still not taking the hint I see" he spoke to him.
Kay felt utterly helpless sat on the stairs, but she had to admit to herself it was sweet that even Trish was openly declaring that she would look after her. "He's blocking the link between us Serena....it's just making it more powerful as my half is fighting to break the block" she said to Serena, holding her head with one hand as she looked down at her lap. "I can't lose him Serena....." she said again, a tremble in her voice.

When his shadow jumped out in front, Chas just knew who it was even before Bane showed himself and spoke to him. As John told him no, he held his hand out to him to quiet John as he focused on the goons that were talking to him before Bane did. The temptation to beat the living shit out of the goons was great but bringing his best mate to safety was more tempting and far more important. "I'll grab John, then I'll help you Bane" he told Bane, rushing to his friend's side as he knew he had only so many extra lives on his soul and he didn't want to risk losing one for such a simple task...at least, a simple one in comparison to most of their situations.

He pulled John up onto his feet. "It was me coming after your sorry arse or Kay...so think yourself lucky it was me" he told him. Chas knew he just needed to get John as close to the cab as possible so Josh could help him in the cab. Seeing John getting brought to the cab, Josh opened the door and ran over to help.
Josh got up and followed Serena out of the living room and saw how Kay was barely even able to stand upright properly. He let Serena take control of getting through to Kay, standing next to Chas in the process as he watched on. Kay listened to Serena practically begging her to just let Josh and Chas take control and find John and it broke her heart to know that her friend was right. She sighed heavily and eventually nodded, stepping away from the front door. "....fine" she said backing down to the pleas of both Chas and Serena.

Chas and Josh looked at each other and nodded in a silent conversation, knowing what they needed to do. "Lets take the cab" Chas commented, making a beeline out the door, whilst Josh patted Serena on the shoulder, "we'll bring him back, make sure she actually rests" he told her quietly then headed out with Chas and straight into the man's cab with Chas where they waisted no time in driving away from the house and toward John's in the route that Chas knew his mate would have taken when walking home. "Stay in the cab until it's safe to do so Josh, then grab John and get him in the moment I get you an opening" he suggested, "got it" Josh replied.

Eventually they found him, Chas got out of the cab and saw the remaining guys beating John, "Alright lads?!" he called out, walking up closer to them and John, ready for a fight if it came to it.
Renee looked up when she was spoken to and she shook his head. "no it wasn't, just figured he was too tired to be an utter smartass around me for once." she replied to Serena, not thinking much of John's out of character behaviour in the slightest.

The pain started to fade away in her head but it made Kay breathe heavily as she tried to recover from it. "No..John..he's in trouble" she panted when she felt her bond to him heating up and the sigil flickering as it tried to glow from the udnerlayers of her skin on her wrist. Something wasn't right and something told her John was trying to block the link mentally from her, which didn't set her at ease in the slightest. "I-I have to go a...after him" she stammered as she made herself stand upright again. Stumbling toward the door, she hissed as more waves of pain coursed through her head, making her shake her head so she could keep her focus.

"Kay, you're in no state to go after him, you need to stay here" Chas told her, though something told him she wouldn't listen to a word he was saying. "I'm going...I think...I think if I get closer to him the pain will reduce Chas" she replied to him. "Kay, John will kill me if I let you go after him" he tried to reason but Kay wasn't having any of it as she opened the door.
Josh may not have known exactly what happened this morning for them, or even what exactly happened the night before but if Serena said that whatever did occur has made her on edge, then he damn well respected that. "You're okay here now" he reassured, rubbing his thumb subconsciously over her shoulder as he noted how Renee was minding her own business.

Trish made a valid point when she said it didn't seem like John to just back down to someone and walk away from any possible conflict. Chas didn't want to admit it, but the kid was right, John would never back down normally, hells, he had spent many years pulling John by the scruff of his collar out of fights with all sorts of people and downworlders, and he certainly had never seen him cower to Renee. Be an utter smart ass before walking away, yes, but not just out and out cower and walk away. He certainly didn't envision John doing it when Kay was around. "you got a point kiddo, that wasn't like him at all" he agreed with a sigh and a hand running through his scruffy hair.

Kay didn't know what to do, she felt conflicted even though she witnessed Serena's shadows go after John, she still felt like she shouldn't be staying here and leaving him alone. Just as she deciding that she was going to go after him, she got overwhelmed with a crippling pain coursing through her head as if it was the biggest migraine that just came out of nowhere. Hissing and doubling over for a moment, she closed her eyes and held her head at her temples. "argh!" she cursed, trying not to swear in front of the kids.
