The Girl of Stone, and Nothingness

Blackness surrounded Kiara’s vision as she slipped into unconsciousness. The sounds of the forest; the chirping birds, the running water, the wind against the leaves, and Sulley, all muffled into silence. It remained like this for some time, until another voice entered her senses. It was layered with others, as if many talked at once, echoing all around her. A figure in black drab approached, it’s face unrecognizable. Sockets glowed an eerie white as it looked at her, or rather, pierced her very soul. It’s skin was fairly transparent, as its rib cage could be seen through it. It’s presence gave off nothing, but at the same time, gave off every feeling possible. It was a familiar feeling, yet it was overwhelming, even putting Morrígan's aura to shame. It was almost as if she had known it all of her 30 counting years.

“I awaited the girl of stone for a long time. A girl of stone must have many questions, and I with many answers.” Its solid, phantom-like body moved in the non-existent wind. A thin line rested on its half-face. Its eyes were emotionless. Kiara found herself staring at the figure, enraptured. Her eyes were wide with wonder and awe as she felt everything and nothing all at once, just by looking at it.

”You’re beautiful…” she said in a voice that did not sound like her own, it was but a disjointed echo of herself in this vast, empty space. She said that, because she believed it. It was the most lovely thing she had ever seen, an idol… a god… a pillar of terror that she, and the people of her Court, could only dream of living up to. It even put the Queen’s glory to shame. ”Are you death?” she asked the first of the aforementioned ‘many questions’.

“Death is what comes to all beings. No, I am not death. I am Woshåm. Those who pass on, bond to me for eternity in peace-” It held up it’s right hand before letting it down to raise the spear in the left. “Or to be tormented for eternity with the acts of sins committed in Nåm'hní.” He lowered it’s ethereal spear.

Kiara’s eyes followed the spear as it gestured with it. The sound it made when it struck the would-be ground sent shivers down her spine. The vibrations were the only sound in this endless void, she could feel them between her teeth and at the roots of her hair. She looked back up to it’s face, but it felt like she was moving in slow motion. ”Why am I here?” she asked in that spirit-like voice that had replaced her own.

“A girl is to learn.” It stated. As the void begun to gain color.

“A man of scales with tormented tales
A girl of stone, alive, yet alone

A white background formed as two silhouettes came forward, one much taller than the other.

”Winged darkness draws near
Two kingdoms to commandeer”

The silhouettes broke apart and reformed into six much larger silhouettes.

”A war to be fought
Ancient magick be taught
For prophecy save
For prophecy sought
Death bell’s call
A crown to fall
A soul to give
To save it all”

The silhouettes danced around Kiara's vision. No faces showed, no voices were heard, there were only the dark, anonymous figures that moved around. Kiki held her arms around her body, defensively turning this way and that as the shadows darted about. Soon enough, the vision faded into the war itself. It seemed like the final battle. Kiara stopped moving and watched the vision, stepping forward into nothing, she couldn’t get close enough to make a difference...

Many were dead, among them, her father, Sulleykaar, the Seelie family, and the Dark Queen. Swords dropped to the ground, and those once fighting, surrendered. The vision fast forwards to the enslavement of the Seelie and Unseelie, Kiara is up on a pedestal being sold to the highest bidder. Kiki held her hands up to her mouth in shock and grief. ”Daddy…. Sulley....” she cried, and then the vision faded just like the others had.

”I have heard that a girl wishes to halt her training in ancient magick?” It tilted it’s head. Kiara looked to it again, somehow she had gotten spun around in the opposite direction. Or perhaps it was Woshåm who moved.

”I was scared.” she admitted for the second time.

”What is a girl afraid of?” It’s eyes piercing through her.

”That I will be the one to kill them; That I will have no choice.” Kiara answered truthfully.

The figures of the shadows emerged once again. Cynbel, proud leader of the Unseelie Army. Felix, the human Commander of the Order of the Crimson Wing. Sulleykaar, the betrayer to the Children of Tiamat, teacher and love to Kiara. And finally, the dark queen herself. Part of two of the figures’ bodies parted in smoke as Woshåm stepped through them, regaining their bodies after it passed by. ”What people of all races fear more than death, is fear itself - The fear of the unknown. I see it every time, in any man, woman, child or elderly individual, when I greet them. Your kind is known to greet me as an old friend who was long forgotten. Humans fear me, and see me as their enemy. A girl is allowed these feelings, as they are natural to the girl, as they are natural to those who live, especially those who live for combat. But a girl is the Girl of Stone, a special girl. A girl’s fate, and those around her, have been decided and yet, still not decided.”

”How do I stop it?” she asked, reaching a skeletal hand out towards where the vision of death and desolation was.

”A girl does cannot stop it.” It said smoothly.

”How do I make my fate decided?”

”A girl knows the answer.”

Kiara looked at the figure, confused. ”I do?”

”I have shown a girl a possibility of what could be. A girl knows what should be, yes?” It asked.

She took a moment to think about that. ”Uhhm… not that?” she was trying to figure out this riddle, but, truth be told, she hadn’t gotten very good at riddles yet. ”I know that I must continue my training, if that is what you mean.”

”Training is the right path to what should be. But if a girl is able to accept what could be, and embrace what should be, then a girl can decide her fate.”

Kiara nodded solemnly, finally understanding. ”Do you have any advice for the Girl of Stone? For what might come… what I cannot see?”

It remained silent as her vision begun to fade again. ”Advice I cannot give. A girl is only given answers to questions. A girl must go for she may not stay longer. The man of scales. He is very fond of the girl. It is a shame though he cannot have what he found. I spoke to the man once. He did not like what I had to say, but accepted it. The man waits for the girl. Go and remember what I have told a girl. The next time we meet, it will not be like this... In due time.”

The brightness faded into shades of gray, and then black. ”No!” she said quietly, not wanting to leave the comfort of the void. She had only been there for five minutes at most, it wasn’t enough for her. Kiara reached her hands out as her spirit blindly fell back into her body. She gasped at the contact - the rush of feelings once back in her own skin. Everything was too bright, and too loud in comparison to her journey of peace.

Outside in Spirit’s Crossing, the dragon remained silent, meditating and awaiting Kiara, who was held by the tendrils of the glowing tree to awaken from what was an intentional coma of sorts. It had been a peaceful three and a half days since she was forced into it before she awoke with a gasp. Sulleykaar opened a lazy eye before yawning and stretched his arms out to the side. Meditation must’ve ended a while ago. ”Welcome back to the living, Kiara.” He smirked.

Her pointed ears lowered as she cringed, still getting used to her returned sense. She shushed him, but it came out as little more than a whisper. It was then that she realized she wasn’t on the ground. ”Woah!” she panicked momentarily. ”Errm… haa… put me down, please.” she asked, patting the vines holding her up.

”Aww...But bondage looks good on you.” He quipped before roaring into laughter. He snapped his fingers after a moment and then the tendrils slowly lowered her down to the ground. His laughter became a muted chuckle as his smile tightened to a thin line. ” You made it back, so I assume everything went as planned.”

”Uhh…” the vibrant imagery of the visions Woshåm had showed her flashed behind her stone-colored eyes. Her mouth was a somber line. ”I guess so.” she said before attempting to stand up. Her legs felt wobbly and there was a sharp cramp in her stomach. ”Ugh- gods. I don’t remember being this hungry.”

The dragon cocked an eyebrow. ”You’ve been out for almost four days. What would you expect.”

Her eyes moved back and forth rapidly as she studied him. Four days? Well, she guessed that kind of made sense… time worked differently when she traveled to the human realm, why not… wherever it is that she went, as well? ”Breakfast, at least.” she answered with a smirk.

”Small breakfast then we begin…” He smirked as he moved closer to her, his robe slipping off with ease.

Kiara chewed her bottom lip through a smile and her eyes darkened to pitch black. It was a controlled hunger, perhaps that was thanks to her training. She even retained a part of her bubbly personality, skipping over to him before dancing a circle around Sulleykaar, stopping only to kiss his cheek. Her fingertips danced lightly along the skin of his shoulders and arms like butterfly kisses.

He flinched slightly, chills ran down his arms as her cloud-like touch made contact with his skin. Strangely enough, his skin had a faint scaly look, yet held the same feeling that a human’s skin would. He let out a low growl of pleasure as he leaned into her, his hot breath against her neck as he gently kissed the base of her neck. ”You’re still gonna be my little vo hahdrim, you know that, right?” his chuckle rumbled off of her body as he lifted her off the ground and brought her onto her back in a single motion.

She smiled up at him through a giggle. ”And you’re still an ass.” she said before reaching her neck up to kiss him. She let her lips linger on his, longer than her usual quick pecks. He tasted like fire, like the way autumn evenings smelled. She might not be able to trust him, but she knew that she could trust Woshåm. He is very fond of the girl… a man waits for the girl. It had said... and Sulleykaar wasn’t the only one growing fond.

The dragon leaned into her. Passion begun to fill the late afternoon air. It was going to be a long couple of months. It was only fair that she was given a hearty breakfast.

Spirit’s Crossing, Present Day

Kiara and Sulleykaar were back at training, as they had been every day this week. The dragon was a frustratingly, obsessive, perfectionist, nothing she managed to do was considered good enough, or ‘ready’ for Old Scale, no matter how much she pestered him. Two days ago, she had gotten so angry that he made her go through an entire day of emotional control training again.

Today, they were working on wind. As it seemed, fire was an easy talent, it came almost as naturally as earth, and she was sure that she had mother-dearest to thank for that. Water and wind… they didn’t come so naturally, especially wind. ”Pease, again!” Sulleykaar said in a stern, almost fatherly voice.

Kiara huffed and blew a lock of hair out of her face before squaring her feet and holding her hands out in front of her. You had to be so calm to control wind, and it was hard for her to find her center after getting frustrated with herself. She exhaled and tried to pull the winds in circles around herself, spinning gracefully on the tips of her toes - like a dancer, or a martial artist.

Sulley had watched her intently and criticised each movement if it was even slightly out of place.

”Good, keep it up. If you keep at this pace y-” His eyes went wide and dilated as he dropped to a knee. Another vision. He watched as a green dragon let loose a fireball at his best friend, which sent him careening to the ground before his sight went black.

Kiara opened her eyes at the sudden movement, taking on a defensive posture. Sometimes he like to surprise her during training to test her reflexes. But he was…. Kneeling? ”What? Oh, come on! I’m not doing that bad, don’t be so dramatic!” she said flippantly. Sulleykaar didn’t acknowledge her, he actually didn’t even look like he was seeing her… he kind of looked like Nyx when she was having one of her visions.

”Sulley...?” Kiara asked somewhat more affectionately and concerned.

”Felix….” He said hastily.

The pain and emotions of Felix he felt and with no second to spare he stood up and bolted. Jumping up into the sky and let his dragon form take place. His wings glowed white and with each flap he faded into the distance. The wind that was generated from the initial flap was enough to slightly uproot some trees and throw around stones. The gust of wind blasted Kiara backwards onto her rump. ”Oof-” she reacted and then looked up to the skies. ”Shit….”.

A figure within the woods watched silently at the training, his ruby eyes focused in on Kiara. He adorned a gentle smile that held within it, other intentions. His hands were interlocked with each other and held a golden chain. At the bottom of the chain was the jewel from the jeweler’s cart. ”I guess we can become, better acquainted now, hm? Kiaraaa…..Of the Unseelie Court.” He whispered to himself as he slowly made his approach to the opening.

Allistyr’s Keep, The Siege, Present Day

Sulleykaar was moving at speeds beyond that of a normal dragon, only thanks to Old Scale giving him a speed boost. Even though he was thinner than other wyrms, he wasn’t meant for speed as much, nor for power. He was, however, an even balance, and with the use of Old Scale, he could see-saw between the two powers. This called for speed, and that was what he leaned towards as he neared the outpost battle. His powerful dragon eyes caught sight of the emerald dragon and the now burnt human friend. With a loud angry roar, he let his presence be known.

Felix landed hard, his back broken, his leg bones shattered, and his eyes fluttered in pain. He caught sight of Tyr’rak as he came in for the finishing blow. Tears fell from his eyes as he closed them, not truly ready to go, but there really was nothing he could do. Sadly, when his eyes closed, he did not open them when the roar of the dragon was heard. Instead, his eyes opened to white and a tunnel. He stood in front of it, confused and worried, until a soft voice broke him out of it. ”Felix….You’re here..” His lip quivered as he fought back the tears, dropping to the white ground. Kyla kneeled down beside him and wrapped her arms around him, giving him closure.

Sulley came in full-charge as Tyr’rak reared his head back to finish him off, but a sudden powerful collision sent his sight tumbling, as his head slammed into the ground with incredible force, and his large scaly green body bounced off the ground like a ragdoll. The crimson dragon made his impact with the ground as well, but not as hard, using another flap of his wings to soften the blow.

Tyr’rak scrambled to right himself, his claws gashing into the earth. He stretched his wings out in an attempt to show up the larger dragon. Red… Sulleykaar. Tyr hissed in low in the old tongue ”You cannot protect him, Ssssssullleykaar. They will come for him, or they will come for youuuu. All you have done is interrupt a mercy, now he will suffer.”

Sulleykaar’s roars became silent as he moved towards him, morphing into his human form. His footsteps left black flames on the ground behind him. His claws engulfed in black flames as he clenched closed and open his hand. His body giving off enough heat to burn the air around him. His eyes locked onto Tyr’rak’s with a eerie and psychotic look in his eye. He released his wrath and killer intent out onto the battlefield, crashing down onto everyone present like a tsunami. The temperature rose quickly as the grass caught fire. A smile, simple and macabre ironed onto Sulley’s face. He spoke in a two tone voice, his human voice and dragon voice acting as one. It was demonic yet held a sadistic calm that could rival the Dark Queen’s. ”Tyr’rak, Son of Bahamut...You are going to die today. By my hands….By my hellfire...I look forward to hearing your agonizing screams as your scales crack and your flesh melts off your bones, before they turn to ash and float away in the wind. You will not be remembered, instead, you will be nothing more than a blip in history.”

His right claw turned a greyish color as he brought forth Old Scale magick and raised his hand, before swiftly bringing it back to his side. The green dragon was engulfed in a sapphire aura as its wings and body were brought down to the ground with incredible force and the earth caved in; the full extent of joor zah frul. He walked up to the dragon, the heat from Sulleykaar slowly making it’s way through the hide of Tyr’rak. The red dragon placed a gentle hand on it’s snout and pressed in, melting a part of its nose to nothing. Tyr snorted out green flames defiantly, refusing to show his pain. If he was going to die, he would do so with honor and pride. ”I am going to melt you into nothing slowly...I will hear you scream.” He said softly with a smile on his face as he walked around his body until he got to his wings. ”You won’t be needing these anymore, will you?”

There was a fierce, feral rage in the smaller dragon’s eyes. He wanted so badly to be able to move, but he was no match for Old Scale. Instead of burning the wing off, Sulleykaar cooled his hands down and gripped it tightly, using his left to push off the dragon as he worked on tearing it off of him. He could see the skin around it start to pull and rip as it lethargically came free. This was enough to draw out signs of pain in the stubborn, stoic dragon. Tyr’rak grunted, and huffed out quick exhales, trying to breath out the pain. Sulley was tearing him apart like a fisherman would a crab. With the sounds of bones and scales snapping, and hide tearing, there was a sudden rush of blood. No. He would cauterise that to keep him from bleeding out. That would be too quick. Once removed, the crimson dragon set it ablaze, turning it to ash in seconds. He would work on the next one before he moved to his razor sharp teeth. This was going to be long and gruesome death and he didn’t give a damn about who saw it, even Cynbel.

Spirit’s Crossing, Present Day

The sapphire dragon leaned against a tree not to far from Kiki and remained silent for a long moment. His head slowly cocked to the side as he smiled in delight before deciding to get her attention. ”Hello again...Kiaraaaa. I believe you forgot something back in Dovahmere.” He held up the jewel from the cart.

The faerie was still staring up at the sky, considering trying to follow after Sulleykaar in flight, but not confident that she could make it the whole way by herself. Then she heard his voice. She didn’t freeze up, surprisingly. Sulley’s training had paid off, she was controlling her fear. Inside, her head was swimming with a million possible scenarios of how badly this could go. Outside, she turned her head to the source of the voice with a steady gaze. She looked at the stone dangling from his hand, it was something easy to focus on. ”I did not forget it, I no longer wanted it.” she said honestly before standing up and brushing herself off.

He sighed. ”Such a shame...It is really a wonderful piece. Such care went into this design, and no one else wanted to buy it, so I figured you were still interested in it, and brought it.” He smiled brightly to her. Kiara smirked with a surprising amount of confidence before taking a few steps towards him. Hell, maybe she could take him? Her spars with Sulleykaar had gotten better…. She was confident that she could at least maybe distract him until Sulley returned. Or, she could play it cool…

Kiki wrapped her slender fingers around the gem and met his gaze. ”Rather impolite to lie to a faerie-”

”You mean like Sulleykaar has done this entire time to you, and your people, right?” That eerie smirk again.

Kiara managed a gentle laugh ”He is a work in progress. You dragons are not a very honest bunch.”

”And I suppose you trust him now? What has he told you so far? We’ll play a game. Let’s see who tells the most truths. If you win, you can keep this beautiful piece of expensive art, and if I win well-” He gave a light chuckle.

She frowned. Did he really think her that daft? Like a child that could easily be bought… And yet, he was the one challenging a faerie to a game of truths. How foolish. Kiara released the jewel and glared. When I win, you will leave me alone.” she said with confidence.

For some reason, Paraxthyon could wear Sulleykaar’s shit eating-grin well enough to get under the skin. ”So...The way this works is that I’ll ask a question about you, and then you ask a question about me. We call each other on bluffs, and if we are right, we gain a point. Whoever has the most points win, obviously.” He said with a chuckle as his hand softly touched the side of her face. The tips of his fingers dimly glowed blue, as did his eyes. His smile widened as he moved to a rock next to the water and gestured for her to join.

That was strange… ”I will stand.” she said, matter of factly, to which he shrugged. She knew how dragons and their love for sitting on rocks went. Kiara kept her defenses up, ready for whatever this was, to turn into a fight.

”Very well. We’ll start simple. You are Kiara of the Unseelie Court, correct?” He asked with a smile.

”Yes.” she answered, knowing full well that he already knew that. ”Why are you doing this?” she asked, without any desire to beat around the bush.

”Because, I find it to be fun. I find learning about someone through a style of game to be entertaining for both parties, especially this one. Usually, though, it doesn’t involve such hostilities but rather booze, coin, and plenty of laughter.” His voice, pitch and tone showed nothing but sincerity. Though the smile was contrast to his words, it held no hidden intentions. It just came across as a dragon who was just creepy, rather than nerve-racking. He cocked his head to the side and a raised brow. ”So, what do you know of the Children of Tiamat?” That smile unmoving.

”That they are up to no good.” she answered with a similar grin. It was a dodgey answer, but a truthful one. Specifics was not specified as part of this game, an advantage in her favor. ”Are you here on their behalf, or for your own interests?” she asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

”I am here because I’m Sulleykaar’s pain in the ass. I guess it makes up for him being your’s, I suppose.” He chuckled. Not a straightforward answer, but an honest answer nonetheless. They were brothers and each got on each other's nerves, so it was only natural. ”If you want to go with those questions, I suppose that I can too. What do you know of Sulleykaar?” He asked darkly.

Her cool, grey eyes studied him, reflecting no emotion what-so-ever. She was a blank slate. ”He is a dragon. He thinks that I am a special treasure, so he made a deal with my father. You are his twin brother, but not his ‘pain in the ass’ one, that is his younger brother. He is one of five siblings. His mother is dead, but not his father.” she answered rather coldly. ”How much longer are we going to play this game?”

” Currently, I’m in the lead, so not for much longer.” He smirked as he waved a dismissive hand.

She furrowed her scarlet brow in that pinched-face expression that Sulley liked to poke fun at. ”How so? I haven’t bluffed… you know that.”

”Ah ah ah~” the sapphire dragon cooed as he tsked while waving a finger back and forth. ”You already asked your question. Now it’s my turn. What do you know of Sulley’s involvement with the Children of Tiamat?”

”I know that your mother’s death has soured his opinion.” there was a hint of accusation in her tone. ”I’m curious….” she began, leaning her back against a tree in a relaxed pose. ”What did I say to earn you a point?” she couldn’t tell a lie and, unless he was lying, something that she said with the belief that it was true, was not true.

”Ahhh you caught me on that one. I was on the fence about whether or not faerie truly couldn’t lie. I had to hear it for myself, so we’ll add a point for you.” He added a tally in the air for her. His smile slowly disappeared as he became serious. ” But, anyway…How did Sulley know that those spies were in the advisor positions, hm?” He

”He brought the real Nelrathian and Hyumae back to the Court.” her expression darkened, those emotionless grey eyes turning a dark, sad, sapphire blue.

He let out a throaty chuckle before it turned into a bark of laughter. It echoed across the treeline and around them before he slowly gained composure, speaking through chuckles. Kiara was glaring daggers at him.

”Hmhmhmhmhm. So...hehehehe. T-T-That’s what he told you? Hmhmhmhmhmhmhmhm... that is Sulley for you.” He grinned, turned to face her, and leaned forward. ”I’m going to re-ask my previous question. What do you know of Sulley’s involvement with the Children of Tiamat?” He sounded so excited.

”No.” she said defiantly, obviously pretty pissed that he’d laughed at her. It was obvious that he and Sulleykaar were brothers, they were both the same brand of asshole. ”You skipped my question.” she called him out on misplaying the game yet again.

He nodded. ”Very well...Ask away.” waving a gesture for the go ahead.

”Why do you want to return to that question?” she asked, raising an eyebrow, challenging his dedication to being honest.

”Let me answer that question with one of my own. Did you ever wonder why he knew who to kill in that meeting room? I mean, he had just gotten to the Queendom, and hardly knew anyone. Besides you, of course, who were forced into being somewhat polite despite your neglectful father’s decision on the deal. You didn’t think it strange at all?” He cocked a brow in return.

Kiara uncrossed her arms and took a step towards him, her eyes darkening to a fierce red. She found herself wanting to rip his cocky throat out. Instead, she remembered to exhale, to let her hot-headed anger go. When she opened her eyes, she spoke with a steady voice. ”He killed someone very important to me that day. I wasn’t thinking straight enough to analyze it.”

”Then think about it now…” He interrupted with a stern voice, to which she replied with a growl through bared teeth. The next thing she did might be stupid, but she turned her back to him. If he wished to attack her for it, let him, she would rather fight that talk at this point.

He watched as she turned her back to him. This action didn’t anger him, nor did he find it rude. Rather, this was the sort of direction he was going for. ”Look...I haven’t lied to you once...well….minus the one thing, to which I gave you the extra point. Do you remember back in Dovahmere? I even told you our plans. I was honest and forthright with them. But you believe that Sulleykaar has been telling the truth so far with you now, since he promised? I’m sorry, dear, but he is still holding back information. Information that is detrimental to his cause should it get out. But, I know deep down you want to know the truth, because honor is a lie, and I hate seeing people lie to others. So, how about I ask this question differently...” Behind her back that same mischievous and eerie grin rested on his face like it did in Dovahmere. ”Would you like to know why he knew about those spies and what his involvement was with the Children of Tiamat or did I just give you the answer in this question alone?” he singsonged the last part.

Kiara kept her back to him and tapped her fingers along the side of her arms as she kept them crossed over her chest. ”Are you implying that Sulleykaar put those spies there?” she asked directly.

He stood up and walked up next to her, placing a hand on her shoulder and leaned into her ear. ”My dear, this was a game of truth. Implications were not a part of the rules.” He rubbed his thumb along her shoulder before walking back off towards the woods. He stopped at the treeline and turned his head towards her. ”How about you ask him yourself, if you don’t believe me.”

By the time Kiki had abandoned her stubbornness long enough to turn back around, Paraxthyon was gone. She scanned the shadows of the treeline, but there was nothing out of place. The faerie looked to the rock by the water’s edge, and there was a sparkle glinting in the midday sun. Kiara walked over to the attractive sight… it was the necklace. Hesitantly, she picked it up by the gold chain - She was naturally suspicious of such a gift, and hovered her hands over the stone, trying to sense magick. There was nothing that she could detect. The faerie climbed up to sit on the rock now, and pulled her knobby knees up under her chin. She stared at the star jewel that had reminded her of Nyx, and thought about what just happened.

Why had Paraxthyon done this? That game was one sided in her favor from the start, he must have known that. He had gained no information from her, it’s sole purpose was for her to learn more. But why didn’t he just eat her? He had made his malicious intent quite clear a week ago. Kiara found herself wishing that she was more like her father… he would know how to handle this, he knew how to handle everything.

Kiki fastened the necklace around her neck and stared down at the star-like gem that would be nestled in her cleavage, if she’d had any cleavage. She now stewed on what the sapphire dragon had said about Sulleykaar. Kiara had developed a deep, stockholm-like affection for her draconic mentor. He had promised her honesty, and she had trusted his word on that. The had laughed together, fought together, slept together… and now, she felt doubt about it all. Had he really pulled the wool over her eyes this whole time? Without consent, large, pent up tears welled in her eyes and spilled over. She was crying because she didn’t want any of this in the first place. She wanted to go home, to go back in time, to before she knew about Sulleykaar, or the Children of Tiamat, or Old Scale…. To when she was simply Kiara, not the girl of stone… not the girl to be lied to.

The faerie thought about her father through the sobs. What would he do? She must try to be like him, to understand this situation, to make it work for her. She could continue to wallow in self pity, she could turn it into anger, she could retaliate, or... she could seek the truth. She would do the latter, that is what Cynbel would choose. When Sulleykaar returned, she would demand honesty about everything - past, present, and future. Until then, she stripped down to nothing but her new necklace and stepped into the water. It was cool, chilly even, but she used her new abilities to heat it with fire. Kiara stepped under the waterfall and let it shower her, rinsing away the dirt and negative feelings. It was easy to forget yourself in Spirit’s Crossing, so she did just that…

One week later, Siege Day, at the Queen’s Castle

The faerie general woke especially early. He had a looming feeling about today’s fight, but was doing his best to give Felix a chance. The human had proved himself strong and worthy in their duel and, since then, Cynbel and he had gotten close. Felix is like the son that Cynbel had always wanted - not that he didn’t want a daughter… Edana had wanted a daughter, and he a son, but they were supposed to have many children, at least, they had wanted to try.

Thinking of Kiara brought a harried frown to his lips. He ran a hand over his face as he looked into the mirror. The man that stared back at him looked worried and forlorn. Where had the dragon taken her? Cynbel walked across the hall to her suite - It was as empty as she had left it, but it reminded him of her. He sat on the couch and stared up at the artwork on the walls. Kiara’s artistry was a unique trait, neither inherited from Edana, nor himself.

It had been a full week since she’d left… She was so angry with him then, and for good reason. Cynbel still felt conflicted about the decision he had made. He would do whatever ever it took to make this up to her, she was his passion now, he realized that in her absence. He might have wanted a son, but he couldn’t imagine not having his daughter. Like Edana, she was a light - bright and precious in this cruel world. This was a long stretch without her. She had, of course, gone to The Academy, and spent a Solstice's worth of time in the human realm after graduation, but she had always messaged home then. Kiara felt lost now, and even Felix couldn’t help the way he felt about that; His words about what it is like to train under Sulleykaar brought him little comfort.

With a sigh, the general stood up and went to go meet with his fellow commander, and friend. It was going to a be a long and, gods willing, fruitful day.

Children of Tiamat, Sometime in the Week of the Siege

They were gathered within the walls of their den, in silence they slept until the Dark Wyrm of Lightning made his appearance. ”Ugiiinnnn. I bring newsss of SSSSSSulleykaaarrrrr.”

They opened their glowing eyes. A few narrowed, and the others impassive.

“What do you bring, Kohlgan?” The phantom wyrm questioned.

”SSSSSulleykaaarrrr. He hass ssstarted training Kiarrraaa.”

”Training? What is the problem with that?” Dromoka questioned with what could pass for a raised brow for a dragon.

”He is at Eagle’s Peak…” Paraxthyon added as the others shot glances at him.

“What is so significant about Eagle’s Peak?” Theais asked.

”It’s where we were born: Sulley, our brothers, sister, and I.” he stated. Ugin leaned in, knowing that there was more to this. Paraxthyon glanced at him and nodded.

”It’s where Sulleykaar and I learned Old Scale magic.”

”Old SSSScale? That hasss been dead for yearssss. It died with the death of Tiiiamaat and his followersss.” Kolhgan narrowed his eyes. Paraxthyon grinned.

”Then how do you explain the smoky white tail of magic that sprouted from his hand when he sent you into the back of the den.” That caused a violent response from Kohlgan as he charged Paraxthyon, only to stop in his tracks when Paraxthyon’s sapphire eyes glowed with the same white smoke that had trailed from Sulley’s hand earlier.

”Enough, you two! It matters not. That won’t help the Unseelie either way.”

” Our spies have been snuffed from the Court...” The response was answered with roars and “Gruth!” - Betrayer.

The Ghost Wyrm let out a long hiss that silenced them.

”How do you know?” He asked with a hidden threat.

”They were supposed to send their findings that night. They told us that if a response was not to come by the following morning, to presume them dead.” They remained silent for a bit before Ugin spoke up again.

”Have you heard from any of our other spies within the kingdom of the Unseelie court?” Paraxthyon nodded.

”They plan on taking the stronghold not too far from them. The human under Sulleykaar thinks they can take it, despite its defenses” Ugin grinned an eerie grin.

”Is that so? Very well, then. If Sulleykaar thinks that he can continue to go against us despite past discipline, then we will take something else precious to him. Kolor!” The command came quickly as an Amber scaled dragon slowly made his way in.

”Yes, Ugin?” It asked with a solemn voice.

”You will travel to the fey and contact the Sons of Bahamut. I want the Unseelie court to have a special welcome when they take over the stronghold. A place by my side to who takes the head of that human, Felix Andersen The amber dragon gave him a look of bewilderment. Ugin nodded.

”I-I can’t do-”

”Oh, you can, and you will. After what your son and wife attempted on me, you should be thankful that I hadn’t killed him instead of her. Though, with recent events, I feel that I should have done it the other way around. As for the rest of you-” Ugin eyed the rest of them as the amber dragon sulked out.

”Begin to prepare yourselves.” He commanded and, with that, the dragons exited the den. The Daughter of Tiamat, Shyvana, narrowed her eyes towards Ugin.

”I’m going out as well.” She said shortly.

”To where?” His eyes narrowed.

”Does the Son not trust me?” She turned to face him with a glare. He locked eyes as well for a long tense moment before he snorted.

”Go!” He ordered quickly, laying his head down. She simply squinted her eyes as she left the den. ’Sulleykaar, when I find you…’

Unseelie Queendom, Day of the Siege

He awoke by dawn, his head was swimming, but he was content. The human sat up and looked over to the figure resting next to him. When the light peeked into the room she rolled the other way, avoiding the morning rays. Soft eyes rested on her form as he patted her gently on the side. ”Wake up, sunshine.” Felix said softly before getting a mumbled “Another half hour.” Felix grinned as he rolled over to her and laid against her.

”Come on~ we got a long day, Kyla.” Another mumble followed by a growl. So, with a large grin, he sat up and jumped up and down on the bed, laughing. Kyla had enjoyed her night with him like she always did. She had fallen for him long ago, after Sulley had gotten her out of the grasp of the Children of Tiamat. For the longest time, she held her code highly, disregarding the ideas that Sulleykaar and Felix had, considering them ”Only for the Seelie Courts”. Over time, she had adopted them, but never forgot the old Code. However, at this point, love... everything, kind of went out the window with the 150lb alarm clock which, like most alarm clocks, got what was coming to them when they went off too early. Within an angry, tired instant, she whipped her hand against his body, and with an audible “oof!”, he was sent crashing against the wall.

”WHAT THE HELL DO YOU - Oh god, Felix! Are you ok!?” She gasped as she flew out of bed, her naked body rushing over to see the now stunned Commander.

”M-Morning - hng - gorgeous.” He said as he sat up, his face cringing slightly to the bruise.

”You asshole! You know how I am in the morning!” She scolded him as she scanned him for any major damage.

”Hey hey HEY! I’m fine will you - Will you look, please?” He brought his hand under her chin, bringing her eyes to his smiling face. ” We got a big day today.” He said with a sigh. Kyla nodded. The former Unseelie general understood what today represented. It would begin the turning point in this whole war.

”Have you told Garax about the plan?”

” Yeah he did. Now will you two sto-” Kyla gasped before growling.

”WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN HERE, GARAX!? HAVEN’T YOU EVER HEARD OF PRIVACY!?” Garax winced slightly at the screech. He gave her a disgusted look.

”When has an Unseelie ever cared about privacy?” He cocked an eyebrow with a smirk which warranted a sneer and blushed cheeks.

”I’m assuming Cynbel sent you?” He nodded. Felix looked over at his faerie lover and sighed. Best to start prepping for today’s siege. It took about an hour to fully get ready. His armour was on and his banner hung off of his spaulder. Kyla was next to him, a new ebony bow on her back and behind them Garax sporting two new axes: Thorin and Bane.

Cynbel was in the war room, awaiting the rest of the Council. He was lightly armoured, wearing only robes that partially protected him from magic. Physical damage was not a concern. His great iron blade was sheathed at his hip and a gossamer black cape emblazoned with the Unseelie Coat of Arms hung from his shoulders. When Kyla, Felix, and Garax joined him and the others, he looked thoughtful, his eyes distant. The Queen was there, but Nyx was nowhere to be seen. The Crown Princess disappeared a lot, it came with the territory of being one of the Keepers. Cynbel looked up when the others filed into place.

”Are you ready?” he asked them all, but his eyes mostly focused on Felix. ”I cannot stress enough how dangerous of a fight this is. I need to know that I am fighting beside pillars of strength.” he looked to Kyla and Garax now, with respectful nods.

Felix remained silent for a moment and looked down before sighing and looked back at him. His eyes steeled with determination and confidence. ”You don’t have pillars of strength, but instead, brothers in arms. If we die, we will go down having your back. I promise you that I will not let you down.”

”I am Unseelie through and through. Passion before Duty.” Kyla said. The two turned towards Garax, awaiting an answer. He looked at the three of them and snorted.

”Still don’t know why the fuck I have to be in the damn first wave…”

Felix and Kyla both rolled their eyes. That was the best they would get from the Orc Warlord that symbolized “We have your back.”

Cynbel shook his head like a disappointed father, silver locks tumbling over his shoulders. ”That’s not what I’m asking for.” there was a fierce seriousness in his moon-grey eyes, ”I want you all to live, so that we may fight again.”

Garax, out of all of them showed an uncharacteristic side of him. ”Cynbel, Commander, whatever you want to be called...We want to live too. But that’s never a guarantee-- “

”Make it one. This battle is the first of many, if your dragon friend spoke truth. We need all of living bodies we can keep.” The commander held his serious tone but smirked at the end. ”Now that that’s been said, let us march! War calls, don’t you hear her?” he tilted his head, as if listening to a siren’s song.

Morrígan sat back in the oversized throne, her fingers deftly spinning an hourglass between her fingers. She looked particularly… dead... today. The ebony sand swished back and forth, back and forth, and her beady eyes focused intently on it, as if she was hypnotizing herself. Her blueish-grey lips were parted slightly, mouthing words in a silent conversation that no one else in the room was participating in. Her wraith-like fingers stopped in a quick, snapping motion, halting the hourglass as the last grains of sand fell to the bottom. ”Fetch me souls, Uaa.” she said eerily before turning her head to her War Council. With a subtle nod from those in the room, they turned face to the door and left. A creepy smile rested on the Dark Queen’s face.

The brunette lycan burst out of the water and tackled Kiara. The girls plunged under in a tangle of limbs and bubbles before surfacing again. Kiki was caught in a fit of giggles, coughing out some of the water that she had inhaled. Kiara splashed Samantha playfully and then offered a falsely-coy smile. Whilst the girls had their fun, the boys joined shortly after.

Shining yellow eyes flicked over to Sulleykaar once Kiara heard Samantha’s cat calls. The Unseelie faerie couldn’t help but stare… it was in her nature. Even if she was royally pissed at the dragon. A pointed tooth tugged at her bottom lip while she watched him take off his shirt.

”Hey Keeks, did you know his body looked like that?” Samantha asked, obviously just as stunned.

”I wish I did… I was sooo close.” Kiara admitted in a whine, cursing how faeries couldn’t lie. Samantha then started cheering for the dragon to take off his pants too. Kiki laughed at that. This Sammy girl was just her cup of tea… life at the Academy was going to be a blast!

Even Morgie had joined them now, diving into the water and reemerging near Kiara and Samantha. Feeling particularly playful, Kiara splashed at Morgan and then giggled. The smile on her face could put the sun to shame.
