With a hearty slap, Lunatea successfully attached the talisman onto the jiangshi’s forehead.
“Hah, got it!” The rabbit girl declared. “Now, this should calm her down.”
And indeed it did. Slowly, the jiangshi’s body reverted back to its normal state. No more fangs, no more claws, and no more slaughter. She fell down to her knees and the terrifying aura she emitted disappeared completely.
Before Lunatea could answer her questions, she lost consciousness. Luckily, she was fast enough to hug her before her body hit the ground.
"Hangai… Hangai…" She yelled, shaking her body. "Oh godsdammit…"
No dice. She wasn't waking up.
She had to carry her.
Lifting her up on a princess carry, she looked around, searching for the others.
Wait, what's that sound?
It was the sound of hooves thundering in the distance.
Her victory celebration was cut short.
Reinforcements. The Varjans were coming. And they were coming in droves.
She turned around to where the sound came and narrowed her eyes, trying to count just how many they were.
Too many. There were too many of them for her or the others to take on. Especially since Hangai here couldn’t help out with her brutal talisman-less form anymore.
“Everyone! Retreat! We have to run away!” She yelled as loudly as she could.
Thankfully, it seemed that the villagers had been evacuated. They had accomplished their objective, and now, all they had to do was to survive long enough until they could reach a safe place to hide.
Damn it. She wasn’t made for something like this!
As axes and javelins rained over her head, she conjured a wind wall above her, deflecting the thrown weapons from digging into her skin. Her skirt flew wildly as her black panties worked overdrive, trying to keep their wearers safe from harm.
Meanwhile, she looked around panickedly for her comrades. Sam was the first to come to her mind. That kid really couldn’t protect himself. As for the others, well, she prayed they had a way to deflect the attacks coming their way while making their escape.
