Stranded: Prisoners' Tale (High casual Sci-fi/fantasy)

Plot:

The prison ship Alcatraz, designed by a council of multiple races and nations to house the worst criminals (and even a few of the lower offenders) in an effort to cut down on prisons. The ship had a self sustaining food supply, an around the clock staff of guards and civilian staff. Unfortunately, said staff wasn't informed of the ship's true intention. Once out of explored space, the ship's controls locked up and the engines shut down setting it adrift. Months later, the ship's intercom started playing some strange garbled message as the vessel was dragged into the gravity well of an odd Terran planet. The cell blocks separated from the ship and fell to the planet killing the majority of the innmates. The survivors now find themselves stranded on the strange planet inhabited by terrifying beasts and the remnants of a long gone civilization.

The only objective many of the survivors had when they landed was to find their way back to the wreckage of the main ship. That was the only place with guaranteed food and weapons.

ProstheTech Corporation:

Naturally, the abilities of the Attuned bred both fear and envy among the people not fortunate enough to recieve mana. As a result, technologies that were originally seen as tabuu saw an immediate spike. Body augmentations became commonplace, especially when it was found that the Attuned couldn't benefit from this technology. The original companies that developed this tech joined together to eliminate any competition. Eventually they even managed to create basic kinetic shielding and cloaking tech by condensing air and bending light around the user.

The only race that has developed better prosthetics is the Arraxi.

Magic origins:

A mysterious pulse that emnated from a colonized planet lightyears away from earth had unprecedented effects on lifeforms all around the galaxy. It seemed to attune them to energies that were naturally present and previously unobservable. These abilities, once realized, allow the user to manipulate the elements around them using a combination of the energy present in the air and their own "mana" reserves. Oddly enough, the powers granted to these "Attuned" as they have been designated manifest in different ways. Some seem to be able to heal the wounds of others and themselves, others can wield nature as a weapon. Unfortunately the Attuned are unable to recieve any type of technological augmentation. All attempts have ended in the death of both the Attuned and the one trying to conduct the procedure.

Types of Magic:

Fire: Those attuned to fire can ignite air with ease and even control flames with some training. For experienced Flame wielders this attunement also gives a near immunity to most heat based weaponry and hazards.

Air: Those attuned to the air can control wind and use it to blast opponents or even sharpen it to cut through dense objects. Experienced Wind wielders can launch themselves and glide, though this takes a fair bit of mana to pull off.

Water: Water attunement allows mages to wield almost any liquid as a weapon to defend themselves assuming there isn't anything solid between them and it. They can use the ability to move swiftly through water or even breathe while submerged.

Earth: Earth wielders can move through dirt and rocks as though they were liquid, of course this is a constant drain of mana and is rarely used for prolonged periods. They are also able to draw minerals to them as a defensive or offensive measure.

Life(healing): Being attuned to Life lets mages manipulate any living matter that they are in direct contact with. While this is normally used to mend wounds, some have used it to do...horrifying things.

Races:

Humans: Yeah, humans. They have a decent connection to magic, but fairly powerful internal mana reserves. As far as cybernetics go, they're quite advanced. (Probably about Deus Ex level give/take)

Homeworld: Earth

Tulak: A humanoid race with horns and a strong link to nature. They are naturally stronger magic users, but unfortunately don't have the same mana supply that humans do. Unlike humans, the Tulak are almost entirely composed of magic users, and most of those that can't use it are in positions of political power.

Arraxi: An advanced race of cybernetic bug people that lack any kind of link to nature. By the time the Pulse occured, they were already more machine than organic. Those that could have become "attuned" died in horrible agony as their bodies suddenly rejected the majority of their organs and limbs.

Sapishte: A race of people that seem to be able to shapeshift on some level. This is due to what seems to be a sentient goo attached to their flesh. This goo or "slime" is able to change in density and shape allowing the Sapishte to mimic the forms of other races. One other notable trait is the Sapishte's inability to cloak their emotions. Only a select few are able to hide their feelings, and those that can are almost immediately exiled upon discovery as they are seen as terrifying mutants.

Homeworld: Glonelia
A swampy world, home to the shape shifters of the Sapishte race. The planet is of a tropical, humid climate with swamps and jungles covering most of its landmasses, with warm oceans covering everything else. The Sapishte people aren't exactly the most advanced of the races, having only relatively recently become capable of spaceflight and most of the planet is comparatively low-tech compared to the rest of the races. The people themselves are often quite amicable and more or less an extremely honest people. Being unable to hide emotions well, make for poor liars and manipulators most of the time.

For the most part they are friendly, and have relatively good relations with the rest of the galaxy. Considering the high demand of people able to mostly take whatever form they want in certain less than reputable jobs, there is no shortage of demand for them in certain jobs.

Lan'Ye: The most recent race introduced to the galactic scene, the Lan'Ye are fairly primitive when compared to the others. For the most part their technology is simply reverse engineered from the gifts other races had given them. As far as biology goes, their scales and horns show their reptilian ancestry clearly. Despite expectations, they don't have tails aside from a small vestigial bone signifying that perhaps there was one long ago. As for unique abilities, they have a slight healing factor allowing them to regenerate limbs over the course of a few days.

The Alcatraz:

The Alcatraz was one of the biggest collaborative efforts between all three races. A ship capable of securely holding over ten million high priority prisoners without ever having to stop at a planet. Of course, anyone that was aboard the ship would wonder why a vessel with such a capacity only carried about twenty five thousand souls. In reality, the Alcatraz was much more sinister.

Because of the ship's anti-aggression field, a generated area in which affected people are mentally unable to attack guards and personnel, prisoners were even allowed to keep their weapons and other equipment. Most simply assume that this act was essentially a middle finger to the inmates, though such an act would be an enormous waste of resources.

The planet (Designated Derismas by the captain before planetfall): A planet covered mostly in lush jungle that straddles old technology. Some of the creatures seem to be mutated, perhaps by the radiation that said technology emnates? It's uncertain, for now the only goal is survival.

Dangerous On-planet species:
(there will be more, but these are the most notable. It should also be noted that these names aren't particularly important as they would be undiscovered wildlife):

Varinyat: Strange creatures that stand on two legs. They are dangerous predators capable of imitatating speech to lure in prey. The spikes on their body are poisonous, and their tail is strong enough to restrain even most larger opponents while they inject and devour them.

Ashra: An apex predator through and through, the size of at least thirty humans and ten times as strong. Their tough hide can resist small arms fire, and their regenerative abilities make them almost impossible to put down. On the plus side, they aren't picky when it comes to prey...

Romper: A pack creature that harrasses prey by quickly striking with its tail before running off. Their tail is able to snap the average human's leg in one swing, and once multiple begin to circle even an experienced hunter is forced to pray.

All of his breakfast consumed, Dan made his way to class. With all the time to spare, he even decided to do it without using his quirk. Besides, he needed to avoid a situation like yesterday's at all cost. He didn't have many secrets, in fact he'd say he only had two that he really wanted to keep. His weakness was certainly the most pressing at the moment, but his other was...Well, if he could go the entire year without any contact with his father it would probably be easy.

Of course, that was normally child's play as he often went months without saying a single word to the man. The argument that came from his application to the hero class instead of the support class was probably the most interaction he had actually had in years. What business of his is it anyway? He can't just ignore me for so long and just expect me to bend to whatever whims he has...

His expression slightly soured the longer he though about it, Dan opened the door to the class and made his way to his seat without really acknowledging any of the four people in the room. Putting his head down so he could at least pretend to sleep until class began.

Rachel was slightly confused by Sophia's comment about a 'trick.' Though, before she could respond the girl had given small demonstration using Pokeballs. Rachel offered a warm smile, trying to think of any words to encourage the girl before one of the others in their group dashed off to help a wild Pokemon. Normally, stepping between a swarm of zubats and golbats and their target was very unwise. Rachel allowed Cradilly to take the front as she rushed forward to assist. "Cradily, use Flash!" Rachel shouted. Instantly large chunks of the flying Pokemon broke off and retreated back towards the inner recesses of the cave. The bright light made them all quite uncomfortable.

Rheese Laudat

Outside

"Minior, get in there and help any way you can!" Rheese shouted. His Pokemon charged into the fray, ramming random opponents as they came within striking distance. The bright flash from the Cradily seemed to startle many of the flying types in the area, and some of the ones that weren't deterred were at least fairly disoriented. At this point, the whole thing was made much easier.

Instantly, Rheese began to feel a surge of confidence. Yesterday he probably wouldn't have been able to be much help in this kind of situation. Now, he was at the front, actually contributing.

Dan woke up surprisingly calm. He smacked the alarm before getting up and stretching a bit to wake himself up. Ignoring the fact that the alarm didn't even stop, he just continued on.The t-shirt and sleep pants he was wearing would have to suffice until he could get washed up. He yawned loudly and made his way to the showers with his clothes and such at the ready. Once in the boys' shower he didn't take long to get in and out. In a few minutes he was dressed and back down in the common area with a cup of coffee and several bagels with generous amounts of cream cheese. He was still pretty groggy, but considering how drained he was that last night he wasn't much worse for wear.

Right, yesterday...When he literally got carried off a roof by Raven. A tinge of red polluted his cheeks as he shook the thought from his head. Surely he wasn't...No, no he was just imagining things. He was just blushing because he was in such a pathetic situation, or because he was still ashamed for eavesdropping, he wasn't already falling for someone. That would just be ridiculous. Besides, there was no way a girl like that would even give him a second glance after everything that had happened.
@Blueflame It's the next morning. Time was skipped.
@LuckyBlackCat You can, it may be for the best.

Dan was deep in thought trying to figure out how to explain to Raven what he overheard, but there was so much to consider. He'd have to make sure they were somewhere that they wouldn't be overheard, he'd have to explain it to her in the least violence inducing way possible, and make it absolutely clear that he would never even consider telling anyone else.

He walked close to the dorms, noticing that the roof would almost definitely be unoccupied about now...

Raven made her way across the grass field towards the dorms. The other students who saw her made sure to clear the way as the winged girl looked to be on a mission, one of which would end poorly for whoever was on the recieving end. When Raven spotten Dan and her wings flared out slightly as her glare became more intense. She walked up to him and grabbed his shoulder to turn him around.

Dan was still concentrating when Raven grabbed his shoulder. In an instant he teleported himself and his assailant to the point that he was focussing on. The moment the pair arrived on the roof, Dan whipped around to see Raven.

"RAVEN!" He shouted in surprise, both relieved and incredibly anxious to see her. Somehow this turn of events had put him in the perfect position to confess, though definitely not when he wanted to do it...Well, at this point the only thing he could do was try.

"I don't know how to say this, but...Okay, so you destroyed your desk and ran out of the classroom and I was going to go after you to make sure you were okay, but by the time I actually managed to run into you I saw the teacher walking into a classroom with you." Dan caught his breath for just a moment before continuing to the part he was anxious about. He ignored the loud rumble of his stomach. "So, at first I told myself you might be in trouble or something and I was going to go in after you to make sure there wasn't anything wrong but I got really nervous and..." He could feel how hot his face was becoming. The shame was so clear it would only take a single glance to see. "I'm so sorry, I can't make some shoddy excuse about not meaning to overhear anything, but I promise I don't know what came over me. I know better, and whatever punishment you think is best I probably deserve it."

Raven crossed her arms and glared at him as he explained everything. It was a bit surprising to her though that he apologized without her even having to bring up what he did. The fact that he knew he was in the wrong and that he had really fucked up was good enough for her to not punch him in the face like she originally planned. But now she had to deal with the fact that he knew something about her that she hadn't intended on letting anyone know.

"So...you know then don't you?" Raven asked him rhetorically, she turned and walked to the edge of the roof, pulling out one of her swords as she did. "You know something I intended to keep a secret, but I guess the secret is out now..." She paused as she traced the blade with her finger tips while staring out over campus. "Dan, was it?" Raven turned and looked at him, her face emotionless for the most part minus a bit of hopefullness in her eyes. "Can you promise me that you won't tell anyone about what you heard?"

Dan was shocked by the fact that he wasn't immediately punched in the face. Drawing her sword didn't calm his nerves much, but he wasn't about to question her apparent forgiveness, so he looked Raven directly in the eye. The hope in her expression made him feel even guiltier. He completely forgot that she had a blade drawn.

"I would never! I mean, it's bad enough that I listened in at all..." He said looking down for a moment. "Your secret is safe with me, I swear on my life." He said completely aware that he would probably be held to that if it came down to it. That didn't really scare him much though, as he had no reason whatsoever to share something that important with anyone else. "B-but if you don't mind me asking...seeing them, the dead people, that's why you ran out isn't it?"

Raven let out a short sigh of relief when he agreed to keep the secret, she didn't really want to have to hurt someone to keep them silent but she would if she had to. But she was glad she didn't have to. Raven's body had basically relaxed from the tension of having to deal with someone knowing her secret, that was until Dan decided to ask her about what happened in class. Her whole body tensed up and she looked away, focusing on staring across the campus.

"Yes. A spirit did have to do with why I ran out. But it is not important." Raven put her sword back with the other one, her attention still on the campus below. "That will be another part of this deal. You don't bring up the topic with me. You may know about it now but that is it. We will not discuss it or anything like that. Do I make myself clear?" Raven was itching to leave at this point. This was probably the longest she had really talked to anyone in awhile and it was definitely time for her to get away and spend time away from people.

"Definitely, it's just...I'm more glad that you're alright." Dan said, calming down as well. "When you got up like that I kind of assumed something had to be horribly wrong, but I guess if you weren't in any danger or anything I..." Dan shook his head a bit to force himself off the subject. "I swear I won't bring it up, but if you need to talk about anything I'll be around." He said, his face had all but lost the red hue now that he had gotten that whole thing off his chest.

His stomach grumbled again, but this time with quite a bit more force. A bit of pain quickly made Dan realize that he had overexerted himself today. Then again, teleporting this distance with someone else would be pretty taxing even if he hadn't been using his quirk so liberally all day. He hadn't emptied his stomach like this in years. Blinking back downstairs wasn't an option, so he glanced at the door that led back down only to see that it was probably locked.

"Umm...I can't get us back down from here." He said, turning back towards Raven now much more embarrassed than before. Over the years he had obtained quite a complex about getting hungry, so he naturally tried to avoid the subject of his quirk's limits, but now he had been so reckless that he would probably have to explain...Or just let himself stay stranded up here until someone else decided to come and let him downstairs.

Raven knew she could just easily leave and abandon Dan up here but she wasn't that cold... all the time. Raven stayed silent and walked over to Dan picking him up princess style. She then walked over and jumped off the roof letting them fall until 30ft near the ground where she slowed their descent by flapping her wings. When she landed she set Dan down and turned away with a light tint of pink on her cold face as she walked into the dorms not wanting to discuss what she did. She quickly made her way in not looking back as she went to her room and threw her swords on her bed.

Horrified...Yeah, that was one way to describe Dan's reaction. He was going to ask if Raven could fly herself downstairs and go unlock the door or something, but she clearly had something else in mind. He was practically in shock upon landing, but his state only deteriorated when he registered that Raven had been carrying him. If blushing were deadly, Dan's head would have exploded. In fact, he'd wager he knew about how the fire headed girl from before felt for now.

He was brought back to reality when his stomach growled again. He ran to the best of his ability to his room and scarfed down a few bars of granola to tide him over until breakfast. After such an eventful day, Dan unceremoniously collapsed into his bed passed out.

The class had already been pretty tense, but Dan was basically tuning it all out. He snapped back to reality when Raven shouted, broke her desk and ran straight out of the room. His immediate feelings were confusion and worry. He knew that he wasn't paying attention, but he would have noticed if something that warranted that kind of response had happened right?

Dan tried to follow Raven the moment Jerome dismissed the class. Unfortunately because of the people that had bumped into Raven in the door he didn't really get a clear sight on which way she went. Instead, he was forced to rely on the tried and true tactic of blinking from place to place until he got some idea. Sure they hadn't had but one real conversation, sure they had literally just met, sure doing this was probably just a bad move in general, regardless Dan worried. If something was wrong he'd at least like to try and help. She did stand up for him before, and that was as good an excuse as any.

Dan's search paid off when he saw Raven and Jerome enter a classroom. His first thought was to just leave it at that and go find his dorm. Surely the situation was handled with the teacher taking care of it...Unfortunately, Dan's concern still got the better of him. He owed Raven, at least in his mind, and if there was something he could do to help her he'd probably do it without question. Gritting his teeth, he silently blinked to the side of the door and put his ear close enough to hear. Overhearing some speak about seeing dead people

Immediately he felt guilt, this was obviously something that Raven wanted to keep private. His concern wasn't an excuse, he should have just dropped it when he saw Jerome speaking to her. He could have asked her later, maybe if she had wanted she'd have told him but this... this was wrong. Violating Raven's privacy like this...she deserved to know and he'd tell her. Not now obviously, as easy as it would be to 'accidentally' blink into that classroom, it would be dishonest. With a defeated sigh, Dan Blinked outside and walked towards the dormitories trying to figure out how to tell Raven what had happened.
