Personality: An extroverted and outgoing man, Kai can hold conversation with just about anyone. While he is generally kind to his crew those who cross him and those who are his enemy will quickly learn how cruel he can be. His punishments are often harsh, the navy after all, is no place for those who cannot follow orders but he will never torture his people. Pirates, on the other hand, are an entirely different story, he believes a simple hanging is far too good a death for the likes of them. Kai will go to great lengths to protect his men, and would never hang back in a battle and let them face danger without him. Only a coward would expect the men they lead to do something their leader would not. He does, however, understand that sacrifice is necessary in what they do and he will shed no tears for those who lose their lives; dying for king and country is a great honor. Kai strives to show the same qualities he excepts from his crew; courage, hard work, and dedication. Once giving his orders, he will go to whatever lengths it takes to accomplish them.
Although he does not have a quick temper, he certain does possess a great deal of rage to those he sees as traitors. Pirates and their lawless nature are, to Kai, the ultimate expression of this, traitors to not only the king but to the ideas of law and order itself. Towards his crew he is forgiving, so long as they take responsibility for their mistakes and learn from them. While he can be patient if necessary, he prefers to act quickly and efficiently, once one goal has been accomplished a new one can start and that is how best to serve his king. He does not waste time doubting his decisions, to him it serves no purpose, once a path has been chosen, he follows it through to the end. He is also more than willing to indulge in whims; when they have time offshore or for a break to recharge and let lose this serves an important purpose, morale matters to him and a miserable crew does sloppy work. Kai believes it is important to project absolutely confidence, if he doesn’t believe he is doing things right then why should the rest of the crew. Kai will allow nothing to hold him back, he sees himself as an unstoppable force, like a hurricane.
Though intelligent and self-taught he is well aware that there are plenty who surpass him in this quality but this is out of his control. What is in his control is how hard he is willing to work, through determination he has accomplished his goals, and he will continue to out last his enemies. He wants success and glory more than he wants to draw breath, and Kai is intense and passionate about what he believes in; a world governed by peace and justice rather than the lawless chaos they have now. He also understands that the better world he believes in holds no place for him, he is man of war and violence and one day he hopes the world lacks a need for men like him. He mostly maintains a cheerful disposition, having a sense of humor about things and enjoying the company of those who make him laugh. He does, after all enjoy what he does, and his sin is that he gives into that; embracing rage and violence even if directed at those who deserve it, are not the qualities of a good man. He knows it takes a monster to fight monsters and so that is the personal sacrifice he is willing to make.

Which ship are you on?Currently, his own ship, The Mako
Living Immediate Family Members:Possibly his mother.
Dead Immediate Family Members:His father.
Current and Past Lover(s):In love, no, but lovers, sure. It would be unbecoming of an officer to brag about his conquests in love though, at least while sober.
History:The life of famed pirate hunter and naval captain Kai Calder started with humble beginnings. Born the son of a hardworking tavern owner and a free-spirited mermaid, Kai was never able to know his mother. The merfolk his mother came from forbid intermingling with land creatures, so it seemed his parents were destined to be star-crossed, and his mother was forced to choose between land and sea. So, once he was born, she returned her child to the land, as they would never accept him as a true merman. This is a decision he can easily forgive, for he understands that to give up the sea, and its peace, would be unbearable. He was raised by his father, a man who worked for everything he had, a trait Kai admired as his home was on Fallcliff, a place engulfed by thieves and vagrants.
He lost his father at the age of ten; killed by a pirate who was disgruntled over a bar tab. Kai was forced survive alone, taking whatever work a young boy could find; fishing, dock work, and cleaning up for various business. He pulled himself up from the gutter and after several years he saved up enough money for passage to Glassston where he immediately enlisted in the royal navy. It is the sea that has always been his true home, and whether swimming in it or sailing on it, Kai finds the himself content to be close to the water. The first time he saw battle was absolutely exhilarating, instead of keeping his rage pent up he was able to unleash it all on those he blamed for taking his father from him; pirates. His brutality in war was rewarded, and that coupled with his hard work and ability to get the job done helped him slowly work his way up through the ranks.
Eventually his goal of becoming a captain with his own vessel to command was achieved and before long he gained a reputation for hunting down pirates. He sought them out, seeking to make the seas and ports safe for good people. Kai was handsomely rewarded for his efforts and as he gained experience, he began seeking out the pirates with the most fearsome reputations. His notoriety as a pirate hunter extended throughout Ossvien, no doubt that there are many a pirate who fear his name and the flag his ship sails; a royal blue flag with a silver shark tail. He became the man the navy sent on the most dangerous of missions, to face down the most despicable of pirates; a man known for getting the job done by any means necessary. Although his methods aren’t always celebrate by the navy, they recognize that he gets results, and while his name isn’t one that is beloved, it certainly one that is known.
Special Ability: Merman form⋆ Main Strength: Combat skill ⋆ Main Weakness: Heat/Fire/Dehydration
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Combat and Magic:Physical Strengths:⋆Exceptional swordsman
⋆Strong swimmer, and breathe underwater
⋆Strong and a good brawler
Physical Weaknesses:⋆Becomes dehydrated much more quickly
⋆Not so quick or agile on land
⋆No defense against magical attacks
Magic or ability:When in the water he transforms in to his merman form, having a shark like tail, gills allowing him to breathe underwater, and a heightened awareness of vibrations. As a half breed, he has a longer life span than a human but not as long a pure merfolk. He has a merman form, and with it the heightened abilities of the merfolk, but this form is not as powerful as a full-blooded merfolk would have. With it the weakness of a merfolk is less as well; while he doesn’t have to take frequent trips to the water, he is much more prone to the effects of dehydration, which for him can turn deadly more quickly than regular human. Heat dehydrates him quicker, fire is far more deadly, and he needs to drink water more often than human.
