1922

No one is sure how it occurred. The dawn of the 20th Century was one marked by great fanfare. It was the start of a new tomorrow for both the old world as well as the old and yet, it also saw a time of uncertainty. The death of Queen Victoria, the beginning of Women's suffrage, the rise of new technologies such as the Motor Car, The electric Lamp and the Telephone, Motion Pictures, Einstein's theory of relativity and new tastes in fashion, music and art came into being. The New Century was looking to be the dawn of a new age of wonders.

Then came the war. The Lost Generation...

A feeling of utter hopelessness swept across the wartorn fields of Europe after 1919 when the guns fell silent. An entire generation of young men had become doomed to wander in a world with no sense of meaning. No sense of hope. In America, the last to join the 1st Great War, did not go unspared in this affliction. There seemed to be no guiding light for the world to follow.

Then Came the powered ones. The Vigilantes. The Villains. The Demigods.

How or why it happened, no one is quite sure, but according to all known research of the time, A number of children, born from 1884 onwards, young enough to escape the hells of war, began to randomly manifest powers and/or abilities far beyond those of mortal man sometime in 1919 following the end of the war. Such manifestations usually occurred around the ages of 13 to 18 and were based on everything from the wielder's interests to their employment to their personality to their deepest desires and fantasies. Most kept these strange new talents hidden, a third didn't. Of the two-thirds that remained, one Third chose to use their powers for selfishness, greed, and other heartless purposes. The other third...became our first heroes. they were the first of the costumed and Uniformed do-gooders with their masks and capes and codenames. The ones who chose, perhaps unconsciously, to restore the faith that had been lost in the aftermath of conflict. By 1921, one of the biggest concentrations of superpowered vigilantes in the United States, next to NYC, was on the West Coast. In particular, in Los Angelis.

The year is now 1922, Spring, April in LA, California. These are the Champions of old. These are their stories.

So, here is the OOC introduction from the interest check. Just a heads up that everyone is welcome to join as they have an intermediate to advanced writing level. Los Angelis is the main setting for this piece, as you have read and our setting is in the early years of superheroics which started in April 8th, 1922, though it may well extend into May if things go well enough. Feel free to chat and App, we have plenty of time. ^^
Tentative interest

Hope you'll stick around. I'm thinking of starting the game very soon and I have some little ideas to make things fun.
I'm glad to see some growth here. It may take a while, mind, but if it helps at all, I'll also be playing a character in all of this.
I am definitely up for period superhero goodness. Would you be using a system, or would it be freeform? More plot-driven, or more sandboxy?

I'm going for a very simple, easy-to-understand, two to three paragraphs per post type of system. Very fluid in terms of turns but very much against double posts. Plotwise, this'll be a very casual affair. Seeing as it's about the first-gen of heroes and Villains are going to be NPCs, the overall story will be about these new champions settling into their roles. I may expand this little world in future rps, if this takes off at all.

To summarise: This is a superhero-period piece set in the early 1920s, focusing on America's first generation of heroes set in LA. (Villains will be NPCs in this case.) I'm not entirely sure about ''plot'' just yet, but if I get enough people interested in this, I may consider an overarching storyline. Hopefully, I've made this detailed enough to catch your attention and hopefully, this'll interest you. If so, expect an OOC ASAP. As always, questions are welcomed as well as suggestions.
OK, sorry for leaving you hanging ben. been a bad couple of weeks. Hope I'm not too late.
I'm in. I love this idea. You've come up with a winner. ^^
I'd like to be a part of this as well. Edit:Nevermind.
