Personality
Azra Flametongue, like his name suggests, is a man of quick wits and quicker words. He is a raconteur extraordinaire, who enhances his moderate inherent magical abilities with his prodigious gift of the gab, to make a successful (if not entirely reputable) living as a street performer. He can charm, persuade, defuse, insult, curse, lie, and seduce with the best of them. These later two traits are the ones which most often get him into trouble, Azra has a weakness for a pretty face, and desire to create mischief, especially the kind he can profit from. This has left many angry husbands and conned bar patrons fuming in his wake.
If Azra were to apply himself to his magic or to his diplomatic potential, he very well could make something of himself. The problem is that he is much happier living an idle life, performing tricks for beer money. He is the definition of happy-go-lucky. His easy going manner is not suppressed by the suspicions other might hold of him for being a devil spawned Tiefling. In fact Azra takes almost as a challenge, and will try even harder to charm or seduce those that display an active hostility of him.
Backstory
Azra Flamtongue is a man with a mysterious past, and he likes to keep it that. He isn't an old man, by most reckonings he couldn't be more than thirty, and he's been in Neverwinter for around five years. Plenty of people have asked him where he came from, he gives them a different answer every time. So far he's been kidnapped by pirates, raised by a dragon, escaped from the Blood War, a former Masked Lord of Waterdeep, the bastard child of a Calimshan Sultan, and was once the lover of the Duchess of Daggerford. His accent however, says Baldur's Gate.
Since arriving in Neverwinter, he's plied his trade of fire juggling, swallowing, breathing and all other kinds of fantastical fire magic. He's a familiar sight in the market squares of the Protector's Enclave as well as the low port side taverns like the Beached Leviathan. It was there that after a failed con for bar money, that Azra met Gundren Rockseeker, who helped Azra out of dangerously sticky situation and and placed him in his debt.
A recent series of similar incidents has created a large contingent of aggrieved citizens, scandalised husbands, and unamused law enforcers seeking Azra. This has made is normal method of earning a rather dangerous proposition. Fortunately, his good friends the Rockseekers need someone to guard a caravan going to Phandalin. Azra owed them a favour anyway... and it couldn't hurt to spent a little time lying low outside of town.
