@Crab... see if you can find out what she's interested in. Then ask her about it. No flirting need be involved to just break the ice. :)

Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

Yup, I noticed that. I was waiting for a post regarding them entering the village, but if you'd like I can make one myself with them entering and the natives' actions.

Please! There was nothing else I needed to squeeze in for Ulric before they step into the village. :)
@Nikki Moonlight@Oliver - Anybody doing anything with the big spider web across the trail?

@Marcus XVI@xChrome - Did you two see that Ulric was headed into the native village? (I snuck it in with the spider post...)
Without the goblin behind her to prod her along, Rook managed to resist enough to at least slow the pace of the goblin trying to drag her off to who knew where. But they had not gotten far when the tree roots reached up around them, entangling the legs of two goblins and herself in the thorny bars. All three of them struggled to free themselves, accomplishing little more than driving the thorns deeper into clothing and skin. Rook chanced a look back and saw the 12 foot goblin in pursuit.

Fear and a feeling of helplessness overtook her as she struggled against the thorns, fighting both the roots and a growing sense of certainty that this is where she would die...

So who's through the portal first?
Tamra grimaced when Charlie hit the man in the nose, but did not try to stop him. Honor meant little if they did not survive their journey deeper into the wizard's ancient tower.

When the man's blood touched the eldritch symbol upon the floor, the obsidian portal below the dragon with the pearl eyes began to shimmer, then swirl with a magical mix of energies and colors...

Waiting on the other side:

Three rough and mean looking men with weathered skin and colorful, sprawling tatoos are in a roughly rectangular room with natural stone walls, decorated with carvings depicting some sort of evolving dragon. They are passing the time by throwing dice on the stone floor near the portal, using the sigil carved into the floor as the area of play. To their right, a closed door. Beyond, stone steps leading down.

"Quenn better hurry up and get that thing," complained one, bored already.

"He'll get it alright," assured another.

" Long as we ..." the third broke off as the portal beside them suddenly came to life. Daggers were in hand in a moment as they sprang to their feet and took up positions: One on each side of the portal and the third straight ahead.

As the first person came through, the ruffian on the left slashed with his dagger, hoping to catch the 'competition' by complete surprise.

Garuk's ears drooped a bit in dismay as Stybs grew to more than twice his original size. He looked back at his fellow goblins, hoping for back-up, but they were already fleeing into the woods. Luckily, two of them had enough sense to bring Rook along with them, one grabbing the length of rope left as a leash from her bound wrists to haul her forward, the other stepping behind her so that he could "encourage" her along as she tried to look back at the rider.

The unconscious form of Kaiden remained under the brush, feet half-way bound.

Not about to face the Liberator alone, Garuk plunged after his companions. He needed to get back and warn the whole village to take up arms. Then they'd put an end to this Liberator nonsense once and for all. He lunged free of the clearing, unaware that he was headed straight for the invisible elf.

The portal will open now ... do you guys mind if I skip the step where I wait for everyone to post "I go through" and just narrate that we all proceed?

Even though the girl kicked him, Esmond grunted and tightened his grip. "Calm down there missy," he said, already trying to figure out what he was going to use to bind her hands. He cursed to himself for his stupidity. He should have figured that out ahead of...

He was suddenly airborn, his grip ripped violently from the girl. Dazed, he lay still where he landed in a heap.
@Shmektheshmuck, Welcome!

Jumping-in is certainly fine!

But FYI for future posts (and I know I didn't specify in the rules, so my bad) generally let the defender decide the outcome of an attack. No need to edit anything now though cause I'm cool with Esmond getting tossed around a bit.
@Alisdragon911@Dyece

Esmond had been sent in search of a suitable tree for a ship mast, for the front mast of the Crimson Eel had been snapped off in the violent storm. "Too twisted... too thin... too gnarled... too heavy... could that one work?" he muttered to himself as he walked. He headed toward the one that looked like perhaps it might work, but paused as he heard what sounded like female voices.

He couldn't quite make out what they were saying, so moved forward quietly. If he'd found the runaway slaves, there might be a bonus gold piece in it for him. He spotted the pair quickly enough getting a drink from a small body of water filled by a short waterfall. The sound of the running water helped mask any noise he made as he approached them. He might not be able to capture both, but one surely! As the one was putting her cupped hands to her lips, he broke free of the foliage and lunged for her, intent on getting his arm around her shoulders before she had a chance to flee.
