Mandy put the bag of groceries in the car and made sounds that she had been informed were the right ones to get animals to trust you—simple tongue clicks. Mandy had no idea what they sounded like, but she knew the mouth feel well enough. The kitten seemed to want attention and was quickly pliant.

She took a quick picture of the cat and sent it to the chat with her parents. "Going to take this little one to the vet to see if it has humans. I'll be home after." The kitten even let her pick it up. There had to be a human. She checked that her car was locked and headed to the vet in the same parking lot as the shop where she had gotten masks and toilet paper.

Entering she pulled up her notes app and held it up for the receptionist. She kept a note pinned that explained [color=BB33FF]'Hi my name is Mandy. I am deaf. I can communicate via notes or text.'[/color She waited for the receptionist to read the note before adding to it. 'I found this kitten in the lot. Can you do a quick check for a microchip?' Vet offices and rescues had microchip scanners on hand to check if a lost animal was chipped. That could give contact information for the owner and get the animal back to where it belongs.

Andy led the way back to her room. She considered how to respond to Mary Sue's question. She didn't want to diminish her relationship with the Drummonds, they had been a major part of her life. However, they didn't fit with the story of Andy Gallio-Lensherr. She bit her lip and then decided.

"I lived with this couple that owned a Mixed Martial Arts studio for a while. Ash, was super into old films. She would do movie nights with us. Set up an old projector and have popcorn and candy. Sometimes regulars would watch with us. Or it would just be the three of us curled up on the couch. It was a good, happy time for me." She wasn't changing who she was, not to fit in. She wasn't going to forget what brought her here. She had been careful to not give it a date, this could have happened at any point.

Entering her room she started to set it all up so they could watch the movie. Plan 9 was easy to find, it had long been available online to watch without paying for it.

Ed wouldn't say that the shield was what was holding the hanger together, but it was getting close. And others were helping now. That was good. There was a stream of people, but it wasn't steady and it wasn't everyone that was clear. Many were getting on the Blackbird at least.

The shield felt stable. Ed climbed into the Blackbird joining the others. He maintained his concentration on the shield around the hanger. He could feel the trembles of the astroid that was threatening to fall apart. Soon they wouldn't have the scant security the place provided. At least he knew that his shield would provide a little extra time. He only hoped everyone could get there in time. Time was almost up.

The farther into the hall, Niah got, the more nervous she got. Upon seeing Terminus she tensed. She wanted to run to him and help right away. She liked the god. He was a stickler for the rules and had always been good at his job. Niah glared at Atlas.

"What do you think brought us here?" Niah said, irritation carried deeply in her tone. "Let's do this the easy way Atlas. Give us the bolt, you take back up the weight of the sky, and let Terminus go. We can walk away if you do that." She didn't expect the Titan to take the offer. But she felt it wouldn't be right to not at least put it on the table.

"Oh, thank you." Could they help? Andy didn't think they couldn't and if not Persephone would say something, right? Andy wasn't certain how picky prophecies could be. She followed the others up the hill and eventually to the top of the hill. She wondered about the wind noise but figured it might just be because they were on a tall mountain.

Andy's eyes fell on the Master Bolt. She knew in her bones what it was. Even if Stella hadn't just told her the prophecy that had brought their group here she would have known. She also knew that it didn't belong in Atlas' hands. That was her father's and while she had had little interaction with him she wanted to prove herself to him still. A part of her hated that feeling. He hadn't ever really been there for her. She had seen him maybe twice in her whole life and yet she wanted to be worthy of him. She knew she'd be joining this fight to get the Master Bolt back.

Mandy laughed at her dad's joke. She got it. "I'll go to the store." She also thought she'd probably email her school counselor to see if there was any news from Cornell. If they were going to be paranoid and shut down the school before it even started she couldn't really blame them. It just meant she'd have to deal with Zoom classes. She had labs this semester, she was not dissecting a frog on the porch via Zoom again if she could help it.

Mandy got up and headed for her room to get her keys and wallet. She planned to go to the store and get some extra supplies. She didn't want her parents to be worried about stuff if she could help it. Once she had that gathered up she went outside, via the kitchen and grabbing another cookie, to her car. The store wasn't too far from their place.

"We can watch the gory ones just the two of us." Andy smiled at Zari, this was her real smile. The one she shared with Zari. Hunger still crawled inside of her, but time with just her girlfriend kept it to the side for a moment.

"Yeah, let's go to my room, I don't have a roommate anymore so it'll be quiet. I've got some movies. We can give Plan 9 a shot. I'm pretty certain any movie that's black and white won't be too bad in the gore department. There is death in it, and graverobbing aliens."

Andy took her useless snacks and started to leave the party. She had a strange temptation to reach out and touch the Haunted House. She considered if she could 'eat' the magic of it, and decided against it since she knew there were people inside of it.

Niah patted Stella gently on the shoulder. "You're welcome." She handed the box back to a nodding Andy who stuffed the box back into her bag. "I am ready." Niah started walking again. Leading the way up the hill.

It had only been a few days since they had left Camp Half-Blood, and in that time Niah's little group had dealt with a few monsters, but it had been peaceful for a while on the train. Those hours fell away and Niah drew herself together. She had to keep it together.

Andy followed in Niah's footsteps, still clutching the sword. It was a good thing camp encouraged a lot of physical activity because this hike would have been too much otherwise. She was hungry, unsure of the last time she had eaten, sometime in the Labyrinth. Before things had gotten bad. She wished she had some snacks on her.

"Oh, hey, I'm sorry I don't remember what your quest was." She said finally breaking her silence. She knew what her quest was, to get the sword from the Labyrinth. But other than that she didn't remember what anyone else was doing. Andy knew that Arthur had gone to the sea and Nancy had gone to the Lotus Hotel, however, she didn't remember what the quests were in specific.

Ed maintained his shield. It was a good and strong one. He could feel what emotions had gone into building it. Fear and worry for those around him. He had to protect at least his team. He would always protect them. That's what he was good at, defense. He had never been allowed to be anything else. He knew the itches of ideas, the terrible plans he had if he ever fell from the graces of the family. Even now he didn't want to. The laws were old, his family was old. He would not betray them. He would not betray his sister. He had become such a better healer since joining the X-men, but that didn't put him on her level. She had brought people from death's door. He doubted he could do the same.

He stood there, arms up, holding the shield that pressed against the walls, ready to protect against the horror of space when the inevitable would happen. He nodded as the faces of people he knew entered the hangar. Not daring to talk or distract himself more than that. The minutes were ticking by. He didn't know how long they had. But there hadn't been enough strange faces entering to include all the people on this cursed rock.

"That keeps a lot of options open still. My favorite type of movie is a category called 'B films.' They are intentionally bad sometimes all about being campy and silly. I do enjoy a lot of the classics too. But I can find stuff that'll fit your desire for no gore. There's plenty of that out there." Andy smiled, she had put some snacks on a plate and was drinking liquid—a distraction, just like the conversation. Neither thing was really pulling her from the clawing in her stomach. Her mouth was watering in a way that she might have thought she was going to throw up any moment if it had been accompanied by queasiness.

She was watching the events near the Haunted house, out of morbid curiosity and the being ready to step in if needed. What she would do she wasn't certain, especially with Sabine and Leah just marching back into the Haunted House to fight it. Andy thought she had a broken fight or flight, it almost always went to fight. Those two were trying to beat her and fight something that logically couldn't be fought. But who knew magic was weird?

Her hands were slightly shaking and she pulled herself back to the conversation with Mary Sue and Zari. "I have a few movies in mind already actually. I might want to rewatch them or check what the internet says about gore level for them before I suggest them though." Andy smiled, it wasn't her real smile. Not the bright one she often had, this one was forced. She drank some of her punch and ate some crackers and tried to beat back the edge of the hungry, but it didn't work.

"Thank you for the cookies. Tell Howard we said hi, and both of you be safe." Mandy smiled and waved letting Millie go. She was frustrated with the CDC website, but figured because of the press release a lot of people were probably flocking to the site. There had been no mention of how the new sickness spread. That was concerning.

She tapped her father on the shoulder. "Maybe I should just wear a mask in case. We don't know how it spreads. I have some anyway still because of school." Working in the medical industry, even removed from people as she was a Vet student, Mandy still had to wear masks for certain situations. "I'll leave a box with you." She offered.
