Andy nods at Stella's explanation of the words she had used. That makes sense. If you have two parents of the same gender you can call them the same name, like Mom or Dad, you have to use a different nickname to differentiate who you are talking to. It would be very confusing otherwise.

Andy takes off her shoes and socks letting her feet sink into the sand. She smiles sadly at Kristin appreciating the reassurance. "I'm sure we will." She nods agreeing. If they didn't...Andy doesn't want to think about those options. She wasn't the only one missing Mads, there were others that were upset. It wasn't just her though. She missed Arthur. With her birthday coming up she didn't know how she would spend it without him. He had made the birthday a good day. It had been the first she had liked.

"Appearances can be deceiving. She has 'allegedly' betrayed the whole of New Rome." The quotes around allegedly were obvious in Niah's voice. Her voice may not have been dripping with the venom she felt, but that was only because she knew she had to remain neutral. She'd do a proper read on Leandra during the trial and determine if she had broken her Oath to New Rome.

She took the offered item, a compass. Niah looked it over curious about it. Wondering if there were markings that she would recognize. She had a thought pop up that she hoped it wasn't cursed. It was too late she had already taken the compass. Niah frowned a little while examining it.

"You are enough." Mandy says seriously before starting to follow the directions to Hannah's house. As she drives she watches what is happening. Her stomach tightens getting more nervous.

"Listen to the radio." She tells Hermes. "Let me know if there is news." Mandy was upset about leaving her family behind. What if something happened in her parent's neighborhood? What if... There were many what-ifs, Mandy didn't want to go down that path.

Mandy wasn't sure what was happening yet. Some illness was causing this. How did it pass? She hated masks cause they covered people's mouths and it made dealing with hearing people harder, and got rid of a whole part of the grammar of ASL.

Ed leaned in and whispered, pointing at each person and telling Klara their name so she would know. He did it for everyone, even the ones she had just met, mostly as a refresher and just in case she had forgotten already. Names were hard, especially in large groups. The only one he didn't name was Runa since he figured Klara would know her cousin.

He listened to the back and forth about Mary. He was unsurprised about Mary's mental health. He had had his suspicions since the other world. Sometimes Mary wasn't quite right and that aligned with what was being discussed, that was before the Phoenix had even appeared too.

Max opening the portal did give them faster access to New Orleans, but he agreed with Annie, that they should gather things before jumping in. Max seemed to be a jump-before-looking type. Ed did have his equipment on him so if they all left right away he would have everything he needed. Ed raised an eyebrow and waited to see if the whole group would follow Max, or if they would make a plan before diving into an issue they knew precious little about.

Only Jean's perspective could shed light on these issues. It was important to know if she would be joining them. If she did there was a possibility of the Phoenix force being upset at her. It was a risk. One they'd have to assess if they were willing to take. There was also the matter of, whether Jean wanted to go near it. Guin had opened the conversation a little with Jean. Ed knew some, mostly tabloid versions, of what happened with Jean and the Phoenix. He would not make negative presumptions. If she was here it was to help. But how much help was she willing to give?

"Jean, I realize what is happening is going very quickly, but before the rest of us decide to follow after Max I think it is important to know your stance on the matter. Will you be joining? I, at least, understand if you have no desire to be in the same city as the Phoenix force. There is risk involved if you go. But your knowledge would be invaluable."

Andy wouldn't say she was used to time travel, but it was only a little disorientating. Especially since she knew she was downstairs, she was killing that freshman down there. The only thing she felt bad about was that the time travel was necessary. She should have let Zari handle it. She was the technopath. So she had when they stumbled backward. Andy waited.

The other students were freed, and all of them were angry, did they know how close they had come to death? Mary Sue did, but she had escaped and traveled back with them. Andy had gotten her licks in on Arcade. As much as she would have enjoyed draining the life from him, it would have been very satisfactory, Andy figured the others deserved the chance. So Andy waited again.

She maneuvered, blocking Arcade so he would have nowhere to run if he was so inclined. She'd make sure he was taken down tonight. After the others walked away she would be the last, and she would make sure he had breathed his last.

Ed frowned at the message from Guin. He understood why she did it, but that didn't make him appreciate the invasion of his mind. If it were anyone else he would be slamming up more mental fortifications. However, she was just sending a message in the fastest way she could. He finished his sandwich while Klara worked her magic. He was impressed it worked through the phone. Maybe his family was just too old-fashioned?

"Is it Mardi Gras season?" Ed asked, then shook his head, that question wasn't important. Focusing on Mary was. With Guin's message confirming their fears he knew they needed to act now.

He joined the others down in the Danger room. It would be best for everyone to gather before starting to talk. At least they had an idea of where she was. He didn't know how big New Orleans was, but he knew it was in the southern states. It was a good thing they had ways to teleport there. Ed knew the drive would be long otherwise.

"Will!" Mandy signed to her father. She unlocked the car letting Hermes and Hannah back into it. "Pet the cat if that helps." Mandy suggested as she started up the car. "Oh, I need your address. Mandy passed her phone to Hannah so the younger girl could put the address into Google maps. While she did that Mandy looked at Hermes.

"Why are you so scared? I know there is the curfew and we saw the cops. That guy at your school was scary, but he isn't here. What am I missing?" This was a common question for Mandy. Hearing people picked up on bits of information from overheard conversations, or the radio (which was off in Mandy's car), or maybe his teacher had said something else to him other than asking him to stay behind (which they hadn't done). Mandy was determined to take Hannah home, the streets didn't seem safe, but inside her car they should be...right?

"What does otou-san mean?" Andy asked. She couldn't go home. She had no home to go to. Her parents were dead. Now she knew what happened to them at least. But the one person who had helped her make that connection was gone and she didn't want to think about it. All of it was too sad. Her birthday was coming up and she would turn twelve. She felt like becoming a teen was so far away and everyone saw her as a little kid. She was one of the youngest campers, if not the youngest. But she didn't want to be treated like a little kid. On the quests she felt like she could be one of the bigger kids. Maybe when she was thirteen? If she made it that long. Andy had learned that life expectancy of demi-gods was woefully short.

She stood near the surf, looking out into the ocean. Wondering what the Poseidon kids felt when they looked at the ocean. She liked looking at it, but had always been a little afraid of it. It was such a massive thing and it could swallow her up and it wouldn't care about her.

Niah frowned a little at Nancy's request of the cyclops that was following them. She didn't disagree with it, not really. She was angry toward Leandra, though she hadn't run into Leandra while on her quest. Meaning her grudge wasn't quite as deep as Nancy seemed to be now. A part of Niah blamed Leandra for their loss of Mads, that was illogical, but she still felt it.

Later, Niah decided, she would pull Nancy aside, after the were done with the judgment on Leandra. Niah would go for a walk with her friend and they'd find words to bridge the silence between them. They had to. The silence burned.

Ed nods agreeing that this is probably the best course of action for now. "I might have a physical map in my car from when I first got here." Ed was old enough to remember using physical maps. Google didn't exist until he was basically in high school. The American streets were confusing when he first moved here so it had taken him some extra time to get used to it.

"If not does anyone else think they might have a physical map? Or would Google pulled up be enough?" Any map magic Ed knew about required a physical thing, he didn't know if a digital map would work. Not that a map would work for him usually anyway. It would take an incredibly intricate map for him to use it for his magic. He had heard of a guy who had diligently made a map out of pewter and pieces of buildings, but that map was dangerous to use. It could have blown up in the guy's face if anything got misaligned.

"Happy and willing to give you a ride." Mandy told Hannah. She was not comfortable with the teen walking home, on a normal day she probably wouldn't have been happy about letting her walk alone. But with what was happening right now there was no way she was going to let her go out there alone.

"Let me bundle up the cat and we'll take him too. And no I haven't decided that his name will be Goose yet, calm down." The last bit was directed at her cousin. She didn't know what he was saying. She was annoyed with him talking in front of her without at least simcoming (as much as she didn't like simcom it was better than nothing).

Mandy gathered the kitten and put him in the backpack she had gotten him. At least he would be well trained for travel so when she did find someone to adopt him they'd get a well mannered cat. That was her hope anyway. She patted her Dad on the shoulder and held up her hand in the 'I love you' sign, leading the way back outside to her car.

"That's a cool cloak!" Andy exclaimed when she realized what the cloak could do. She knew of some items others had that could impart invisibility, or in like Niah's case she had a sword that was invisible itself. "It definitely will come in handy." Things that impart invisibility were always useful.

"The beach?" Andy suggested as they started that direction. Andy liked the ocean. It wasn't like Kiera, she couldn't control the water. She just thought it was pretty. Andy thought a bit as they walked toward the trail. "Do you know what the Underworld is like? What we will see there?" She was partially thinking about Arthur, and how long it had been since they had seen each other. She missed him. But she was also worried about their upcoming quests.
