ᴘʀᴏᴊᴇᴄᴛ: _ɢᴇɴᴇsɪs
Before. After. There is a very significant difference between them. Sure, that phrase might sound stupid to you. "Obvious," you perhaps might have said. "Of course there's a difference in between before and after. They're opposites, for God's sake."
That is, until they came for you, and Before ended.
They came at night. A noise awoke you, maybe. Some sixth sense of "something is here that I don't know." But it was too late for you to do anything about it. A flash of electrical light, a jolting pain, and a dim awareness of people in suits watching you. That was all. Then darkness, a darkness deeper than anything you'd ever experienced, something akin to and yet beyond a deep sleep.
The amount of time that passed was uncertain. Upon further reflection, it was likely somewhere within the span of a week, but you can't be sure. You awoke in a small cell of some kind. A laboratory-prison of a sort, but beyond that, you're not sure. All you know is that something is desperately wrong here. This isn't how anything was supposed to go. The experiments were demanding and demeaning, often pushing you past the limits of your body and sending you back to your cell in intense pain and/or sickness. It was a grueling time, and a time that you wish had never happened.
That's when powers started to manifest. Little by little, bit by bit, something started to trickle into your awareness. Something you'd never noticed before. You aren't sure if it's because of this place, or if you've always been this way, or something else entirely, but either way, something about you is most definitely exceptional. You aren't sure how long you were in that place. They ran tests on you; gave you pills, stuck you with needles. But then, one day, something happened. Again, you aren't sure what...but your cell was open. Cameras lolled on their posts. You primed yourself, tensing like a coiling spring. This was it. Time to get out of this hellhole, to escape whatever madness had consumed your life. Time to move on.
And so After began.---
Premise:
This RP follows you, a young (12-25) person with superhuman power, as you attempt to escape the clutches of the facility that kidnapped you from your ordinarily life. You will be forced in close proximity to the others that are doing the same, or else risk losing everything. You must band together, and try to go back to whatever semblance of a normal life--or, at the very least, freedom--you can. The eventual goal, though of course such things are amorphous in a collaborative piece of writing such as this, is to escape from the shadow of the Facility, and ensure they can never bother you--or anybody else--again.

Rules:
First and foremost,
don't be an ass. Your
character can be, but you can't. Be courteous in the OOC, and do your best to keep conflict to a minimum.
Avoid metagaming, god-modding, and other such devices. You're allowed to have collaborative posts, but do let everyone know by a title or other such device that the post is collaborative. And please, don't make every post a collaboration. It stagnates real fast.
Please PM me if something
really drastic is about to happen, like your character dying or something. I won't veto it, but I'd like to know if something really important is about to go down so I can plan around it a bit.
---
Expectations:
A fairly concrete understanding of the English language is necessary. High school level is a good ballpark. You don't need to write a novel for each entry, but bear in mind that there should be some good character development. Posts can be as short as a lengthy paragraph, but try not to have them all be that short. Leave room for interesting introspection and interaction between characters. At the same time, even though it might sound a bit paradoxical with what I just said, quality over quantity. If I had to choose between a well-written post a paragraph long and a poorly-written post four paragraphs long, I would go with the first every time.

This is most
definitely not a finished OOC. There will most likely be things added, so watch out for those.
