Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

"Well, excuse me, mr Hank," Benjamin said. "But I don't want to be pulled over because a police-officer sees no-one is driving."
Here he was arguing with a car. One more thing to add to the list of things he wasn't expecting to do at all.

When the car stoppen, Benjamin exited the car when they reached the house. "Thanks you," he said to the car and helped Mike to get Freya out as well. They helped her to the door of the house.
"We'll have a look at the maps," Mike promised. "First we need to take care of you."
"If Mitch isn't busy..." Benjamin began.
"I don't think we can afford him," Mike sighed.

They reached the door and as the car had said the opened for them.
"Duncan?" Mike called as the stepped inside.
"You should have a word with Merlin," Benny giggled. "You two can bond over not thinking highly about him."
"No," Andy said. "Get in line. I want to know how low he thinks of me first. Dibs! I call dibs."

He noticed the other humans - probably Human-looking Pokémon if he saw it right - and he walked towards the two gentlemen that hadn't rushed in to greet Niccia. "If that is Suicune, I'm going to guess Entei and Raikou." He noticed the tall woman with the glistening white dress shirt. What Pokémon would she be? She kind of reminded him off... Frosiien.

Tater nodded. "Well observed, human," he said with a bow of his head, but he looked at Michael. "Excuse me though."
He followed his sister to Niccia and Michael, but unlike his sister he turned to the boy. "Will you free our children for today?"
"Of course, yes," Michael said and he quickly took his Pokéballs to let out Saruya, Missy and Anthony.

When Merlin noticed the Fletchling was let out he flew down. "There is a Talonflame here," he informed him. "I'll introduce you."
Anthony looked at Michael, who nodded at him, and then flew up to join Merlin so he could greet the Talonflame.

Jirachi smiled broadly when Saveri joined them. "Hello! It's good to see you again. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Truth to be told, he wasn't entirely sure how long he had slept. It was a thousand years because the comet wasn't here, but he had no clue how long it had been.

As promised: the new Microfiction and Poetry contest is now live.

Microfiction and poetry contest #3

What is the goal?
The Microfiction and Poetry Contest is more of a writing exercise than a contest, but there will be a voting round at the end. The aim for this writing contest doesn’t have to be a story with a beginning-middle-end like we do in the RPGC’s, although it may be and it’s a challenge in itself to tell a story in very few words.
This contest aims to be a lot broader. You are free to experiment with literary and poetic devices, explore different types of poetry or zoom in on a literary technique. Go with something you know, practice the things you feel could use some work, or try something new.
Feel like some purple prose? Make it as purple as you can. Always wanted to toy with alliterations? Now is your chance. Want to try a 6-word-story? It’s within the word count limits. Funny dialogue, sonnets, haiku’s, … The only limit is the word count. This is for short pieces in which you can practice or show off writing techniques or styles.
Another thing about this contest is equally important to know: this is more in line with free-writing than it is with planning and plotting: you only have one week to submit something. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I hope to see some unique and creative takes on the prompt, which you can read below in the contest rules.

Core rules:
  • At all times follow the Fundamental Rules of the Guild and the Moderation Policy for Forum Contests.
  • After reading the above this should be obvious: No plagiarism and respect copyright laws.
  • Your submission must be written by you and specifically for this contest.
  • This is a place for original fiction, no fanfiction allowed.
  • No explicit sex, but you may fade to black.
  • No excessive violence or gore.
  • Don’t forget to subscribe to this thread. You will receive updates on the contest and on the number of entries, and reminders about the deadline here. I will not PM them.
  • The winner of this contest will be honoured in our Hall of Fame.

Contest rules:
  • The prompt for this contest is Wish.
  • There will be a minimum word count of 5 and a maximum of 500
  • Any literary or poetry style is permitted.
  • Please PM @Calle the entries and give it as title MFP#3 - (Your Title).
  • Your entry can be anonymous or carry your name. Let me know what you want in the PM. If you don't specify, your entry will be posted anonymously, but you may always claim your story during or at the end of the voting round.
  • The deadline is December 15th, 9:00 CET, which is 8:00 game time (both times are in a.m.)
Mike relayed the information about the location of the gems to Benjamin, who found them and quickly came to the car. Mike helped Freya insinde.
"We'll do what we can," he promised. "We need to get you treated first."
"How do we do that?" Benjamin asked. "Hospital? Find a doctor?"
"I can call Mitch, maybe there's a doctor he trusts." He sat alongside Freya and kept a cloth against her wound to slow the bleeding. "As a professional assassin, he might know a place where they don't ask many questions."
"Do that," Benjamin said as he too got in the car, in the driver's seat. Even if he wouldn't be driving he didn't want people to see the car was driving on its own. "Okay Hank, let's go to Duncan for now."

Mike called Mitch and briefly explained the situation.
"You're lucky I haven't left town yet. Keep your phone turned on, I'll find you."
The call got disconnected and Mike stared at his phone for a moment. "I guess Mitch is on his way," he said.

While Mike called to Mitch, Benjamin called to Ethan to let him know what was going on too. Ethan told him he'd meet them at the park at dawn; vampire hunting would end then and he'd have time to catch up.
The voting deadline is over. We have 5 votes and a tie.

First off: thank you participants, for joining the competition and submitting a diverse set of entries. And thank you voters, because this wouldn't have been a competition if you wouldn't have taken the time to vote for your favourite entry, and your kind words about the entries are undoubtedly appreciated by the artists.

Moving on to the results:

Rainy Ocean and Rainy Cloud both have 2 votes, which means that for the first time since I started with this I will add a tie-breaker vote. And it is a difficult decision because both are good pieces for different reasons.

With 3 votes the winner of this competition will be: Rainy Ocean!
I liked the desolate feeling it gave me and it's a piece I can just keep looking at.

The well-deserved runner-up is Rainy Cloud, with the happiness and sadness, and the lovely use of colours. Honestly, you did a great job.

In January there will be a new Art Contest. I hope to see you all again, and maybe we'll even get a few more involved.

"We're good," James assured him. By the looks of it they were almost done, especially with the Metagross helping them. He listened to his Legendary sing as he finished the last runes on his side and looked up to see if the others were done as well.

Jirachi stretched his body and almost tumbled from the shrine, but managed to stay up. It was nice to be up again, without the comet this time. And it would be nice to see everyone. Maybe some new faces too, that happened every time.
He thought he heard some voices, but it wasn't easy to hear anything from the forest with the song of the Meloetta's so close to him.

Merlin ignored the comment to liven up - he was as enthusiastic as he could be - and instead circled back to Andy to let Benny know he would go ahead and then he flew to the shrine.
He noticed the Pokémon and humans who were already there and settled on a tree branch as he watched the final runes being made.

Andy turned to Mitch as he talked to him. "Don't worry, I had taken exactly zero offence to your glares and words. You're a Guardian, you're supposed to look after her, so we're good, okay? And you were nowhere near the rudeness of Michelle's father." He turned to Benny. "Remember that?"
"Over my dead body will I let my daughter go out with a lazy, good-for-nothing, egocentric know-it-all like you," Benny said in his best attempt of a low and angry voice, followed by a chuckle. "He did not like you."

Mindy smiled a thank you to Niccia and followed everyone as they made their way to the forest. The song was getting louder and louder and se thought she heard some other voices too. Other guests who had already arrived? It sounded like it came from ahead.
Thank you to everyone who sent me candy cane and the wonderful messages attached to them <3 It means a lot to me.
Benjamin followed Ari, but before leaving the room he went to Dia to give her a kiss on the cheek. "Stay safe, we'll see each other in the morning again."
After that, he left the room, after making sure no-one of the staff was in the corridor, and he walked back to his room.
Knowing Dia could walk around made and look after Ray got rid of that worry, and he was certain Dia would be okay. That Josh was probably still around and he seemed to be on their side, for now at least.

"You're welcome to stay with me," Benjamin said, although after the order of Dia it didn't seem either of them had much to say in the matter, "but I would appreciate it if you'd give me some privacy when I change in my pyjama's."
