Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

"I will keep it in mind," Mitch promised and he walked away. He would take the time to read everything through and if he had to admit it to himself, he looked forward to getting to know the people Mike had acquainted himself with. At first glance Dante seemed decent.
That was for later.
He had almost reached his car when his phone rang and he picked it up. "Yes, I have time," he stated. "I'll call back when I can."
After that he got in the car and drove away.

Lily gave Gaia a slice of cake and then turned to Rose, noticing how hungry she seemed. She made a mental note to keep an eye on how much food she needed. "There is more if you want. And the kitchen is always available to cook food. Everyone has a speaker in their room; just push the button and you can talk to someone who can relay your wishes to me or the kitchen."
She folded her hands together as she looked at her three darlings. "I hope you'll feel at home here. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them."

Benjamin read the text and typed back Not that I need to, but I'll bring a friend. After sending that he made sure the device was on silent mode before putting it away again. He wouldn't want to disturb everyone here because someone wanted to contact him.
Mike likewise had his phone on silent mode and struck up a conversation about Italy, even though he much rather wanted to talk about April, but that was a bad idea in a public place like this.
Microfiction and poetry contest #5

What is the goal?
The Microfiction and Poetry Contest is more of a writing exercise than a contest, but there will be a voting round at the end. The aim for this writing contest doesn’t have to be a story with a beginning-middle-end like we do in the RPGC’s, although it may be and it’s a challenge in itself to tell a story in very few words.
This contest aims to be a lot broader. You are free to experiment with literary and poetic devices, explore different types of poetry or zoom in on a literary technique. Go with something you know, practice the things you feel could use some work, or try something new.
Feel like some purple prose? Make it as purple as you can. Always wanted to toy with alliterations? Now is your chance. Want to try a 6-word-story? It’s within the word count limits. Funny dialogue, sonnets, haiku’s, … The only limit is the word count.
Another thing about this contest is equally important to know: this is more in line with free-writing than it is with planning and plotting: you only have one week to submit something. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I hope to see some unique and creative takes on the prompt, which you can read below in the contest rules.

Core rules:
  • At all times follow the Fundamental Rules of the Guild and the Moderation Policy for Forum Contests.
  • After reading the above this should be obvious: No plagiarism and respect copyright laws.
  • Your submission must be written by you and specifically for this contest.
  • This is a place for original fiction, no fanfiction allowed.
  • No explicit sex, but you may fade to black.
  • No excessive violence or gore.
  • Don’t forget to subscribe to this thread. You will receive updates on the contest and on the number of entries, and reminders about the deadline here. I will not PM them.
  • The winner of this contest will be honoured in our Hall of Fame.

Contest rules:
  • The prompt for this contest is Sleep.
  • There will be a minimum word count of 5 and a maximum of 500
  • Any literary or poetry style is permitted.
  • Please PM @Calle the entries and give it as title MFP#5 - (Your Title).
  • Your entry can be anonymous or carry your name. Let me know what you want in the PM. If you don't specify, your entry will be posted anonymously, but you may always claim your story during or at the end of the voting round.
  • The deadline is April 21th, 9:00 CET, which is 7:00 server time (both times are in a.m.)

Number of entries so far: 3
Tomorrow a new microfiction and poetry contest will start.

And once that is concluded, we'll have another art contest.
Well, Lily certainly likes to give women a chance to dance XD
I'd say there is one in one of the corners of common area.
Michael crouched down and rubbed the sad Pokémon's head. "Well, I'm happy to have met you," he said. "I'm Michael, what is your name?"
Arceus probably had a reason for keeping this one hidden from the rest, but it was hard to guess why. And he wouldn't let the poor thing be sad if he could do something about it.

Diel turned around when she felt a tap on her shoulder and spread her wings when she recognised Bia. "Oh hello," she said and then had a look at the Cyndaquil who was introduced to her. "Oh, a Cyndaquil. Lovely." She put a wing on his head when Bia mentioned how worried he was about meeting Ho-oh. "Don't worry little one, Ho-oh has a soft spot for the fire-types that are native to his region. He'd love to meet you."
Lytse felt a bit better now. Bia was kind to him and so was Diel. And if Ho-oh's guardian was gentle, maybe Ho-oh would be too. But he still didn't feel comfortable meeting a legendary Pokémon.
"And how have you been, Bia?" Diel said as she turned to her. She had arrived late with Netherlu and was still catching up with everyone.

"Yeah!" Bear said as he pushed his fist in the air. "We want a fighting rock!"
He had no idea what it was, but it sounded fun. And

Nethan put his hand on Gavin's shoulder. "And you will never understand them if you don't travel with them. You can always go back to your cave, of course. Far away from the complex and sometimes confusing humans. I try not to get involved with them myself. But if you want to understand them, you'll have to be around them." He glanced to where Mindy was. "And I can talk to her if you want. I have no qualms about hurting any feelings she may have."

Mindy took Xapher's hand. "I'd love to meet the Lake Trio," she told him.
How exciting was this? She glanced around to see where everyone was and once her Pokémon were accounted for she tried locating all the trainers she had stayed with. Michael and Niccia were together (no surprise there), Andy was with Frosiien (two of the same family in love with a human-looking legendary Pokémon, what were the odds?) and Gavin was catching up with someone too. Good, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
"Let's go," she told Xapher.

Illios nodded and allowed his sister to guide him along. It was a great idea and really something father should have thought about himself. Hadn't he created them all?

"No," Andy answered the question about meeting Suicune before. "My nephew has, I believe, but I hadn't had the honour yet."
He observed what was going on with Bear for a moment; his Primeape seemed enthusiastic about something. And there were only a few things he got that enthusiastic about. He noticed Benny flying towards him. Good, his Butterfree always kept an eye on Bear, and had some moves to easily incapacitate him when needed.

What kind of pole would you like? The recreation area hasn't been catered to specific needs; Lily tried to make sure the room where, but the recreational area is rather generic because it has to accomodate all kinds of humans and creatures.
Michael turned to look at the Pokémon hiding behind his legs. "Did you sneak into the party then?" he asked him, an amused sound in his voice. He wasn't sure why Arceus wouldn't want him to meet others, but sometimes parents had strict rules for their children. And just like human teenagers, sometimes those strict rules were just ignored to do as they pleased. This Pokémon seemed young in mind, compared to all the other legendaries he had met so far.

Lytse seemed more at ease now. "I don't have any preferences," he said. "Just, you know, not intimidating."
It was okay being here and he started to look forward to mingle, especially with Bia doing the introductions. That was much easier than walk up to someone and strike up a conversation.

A chubby man wearing an oceanblue suit with a white shirt underneath chuckled a bit, scratching his blue hair with red streaks.
"Land boy," Sea muttered, glancing to Groudon. He was unsure how Volcano would react to the nickname. And it made him wonder if his nickname was sea boy. But that was just his name with a boy behind, not really a nickname.
He mused about it for a bit as he looked at the hopping Primeape, who seemed ready for the fight.
"Yeah, land boy," Bear agreed. "We need a battle area!"

Nethan glanced from Gavin to the human girl and back to Gavin. "Are you sure it's love and not a crush? Or just nerves for being around a legendary Pokémon? For as long as she's here, I saw her talk to the Musical Diva's, Chifferi and Xapher. I don't really see the typical human flirting behaviour from her." He moved his eyes and settled them on Michael. "And look at him, he has not strayed from Niccia's side."
After frowning at the strange Pokémon hiding behind Michael, he turned to Gavin. "Is it possible you misinterpreted her emotions? It's an easy thing to do, humans are complex and I've made wrong assumptions about their more subtle emotions several times."

"The first one I met was Meloetta," Mindy said and then quickly added "Penalopy" when she recalled Penalopy had a sister who was also Meloetta. "well, after Niccia and Gavin, who had travelled with humans for a while. But Penalopy was super comfortable around humans and seems to know us well. But maybe she's the odd one out then."

"Netherlu does have a good taste in fashion," Ilios agreed, rubbing his chin. "We should nominate him to handle organizing Star Fall next time." He glanced in the same direction his sister did and noticed the odd Pokémon, but soon turned his attention to Andy and Frosiien, who seemed happy to be together.

"Another drink is a good idea," Andy said. "And I was planning of following you around. Catch up with everyone you want to catch up and I reckon eventually I'll have met most legendary and mythical Pokémon."
While Ho-Oh was definitely on the list of Pokémon he wanted to have a talk with, he wasn't in a hurry.

Benjamin turned to Sara and nodded. "Of course. It wouldn't be fair to not let you eat first." He sat down again to keep her company. While he was worried about Ari, there was very little he could do about a spirit being in trouble. "If you're worried about her and want to go look for her, you can," he said as he turned to Dia. "We'll catch up with you."
If there was one person here who understood spirits tied to Ray, it was Dia.
The nurse rushed away to get a stretcher, but with things like this happening more often there were usually stretchers kept nearby. When she found one she rushed back to Ray so they could get her into solitary confinement, where she belonged.

Benjamin glanced at Sara for a moment and waited until the nurses had moved away a little. "First things first," he said, looking from Dia to Sara. "Let's see if we can find Ari. Ray freaked out because she thought something had happened to her. If she knows Ari is safe, she may calm down again and stop endangering herself or attack Dia."

That might not leave room for the RPGC's then, I don't think we'll have many people joining 2 contests at the same time.

But you can do this first one and we'll see how it goes. I'll pm you to see how we can fit in this contest with the other contests of the guild.
