The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

Profile is done! Decided not to go with the Red Riding Hood idea after all, I saw a picture I just had to use, and ran with that instead.

Interested, if you're still accepting! I won't bring back my old character though. Considering she had a sister who was a magical girl NPC... Well, that worked for the tournament RP because the NPC wasn't a participant, but not sure it'd work in this RP, it'd be like having two characters as there wouldn't be a reason to keep her in the background. And retconning her existence wouldn't really work either, family was a major theme for my tournament character, who wouldn't be the same without her.

Instead, I briefly mentioned a Little Red Riding Hood themed magical girl in the other RP, so would like to play her if that's ok.

Btw, question, how does a magical girl discover her archetype?
Oscar Berg and Sophia Danvers

Vareena Gym -> Near Vareena Contest Hall

@Heckno12

"One, I truly am ok, and two, how does anyone even get anywhere without pushing themselves? Especially someone like me." Oscar looks at Sophia with narrow eyes before sighing and decide not to waste any more breathe trying to get through to Sophia advice for the time being and idly listen to them talk about Rheese and recent event among other things.

"What?!" Sophia's eyes widened. Now her failure to help Rheese weighed twice as heavily on her conscience. She gave a tense nod. "Yeah. Oscar, c'mon, we've gotta go find him!" Hoping against hope that Team Noble were long gone from Vareena, she hurried towards the arena's exit, only to stumble. "Ugh..." Gripping the door frame, she closed her eyes against her lurching surroundings.

Oscar follows Sophia with Skoll by his side. ”I have a fast ride to find and get to Rheese quickly. Skoll might not be at full speed yet but faster and less taxing for us.” Oscar doesn’t know Rheese well but any life in danger is never good, especially if it makes Sophia exert herself in her current condition. ”Let me help anyways as I am proven to be capable”

This time, Sophia didn't argue. They really did need to stick together, especially right now. Opening her eyes, she nodded and returned all her Pokemon except Lacey. She crouched and let Lacey climb onto her shoulders, then with difficulty, climbed on to Skoll's back. Travelling fast with a migraine wouldn't do her any good, but with Rheese in possible danger, it didn't matter.

"He's probably fine, I mean we drove away those thugs," she tried to reassure Oscar, and herself. "It's just, when stuff like this happens, we can't be too careful."

Oscar says nothing as he climbs on and goes outside with Skoll. Oscar gets Skoll to go into a trot before a gallop, trying to ease Sophia into riding on a large canine and getting used to the motions of one. They go through town looking for Rheese.

Sophia wasn't going to admit it, but there was something comforting about being on the back of a huge fluffy Arcanine - and being this close to Oscar made her blush. However, as Skoll's pace sped up, she winced and gripped the dog's fur, trying not to pull too hard. The sunlight and jostling movements weren't easy on her headache or dizziness, but she kept a look out nonetheless, eyes narrowed.

"Ita!" At Lacey's alarmed squeak, Sophia glanced around and gasped.

"What the...?" Near the contest hall, some shady-looking figures crouched by the bushes, seemingly hiding something in there. Sophia's stomach plummeted. "Oh geez, they don't know when to give up."

Oscar slows Skoll down as he glance back at Sophia and Lacey. He looks at where they were pointing and looking to see the same shady figures. Sensing that Sophia knows them and they are up to no good, Oscar has Skoll trot up to them. ”I hope you are being good Samaritans and helping out with a poor sense of fashion sense.” Skoll towers over the crouching figures and looks intimidating.

Vareena Town

Amber tried to return Kyra, but the Rockruff leapt aside from the Pokeball's red beam. "Kyra, please, come back," Amber urged, stepping forward and picking up the playful puppy. Kyra's wagging tail indicated she meant no harm, but it was obvious she didn't know her own strength as she struggled, the rocks on her neck scratching up Amber's arms.

The Combees didn't back down, furious buzzes filling the air as they rose higher. It looked like a battle was inevitable. Setting Kyra down with a sigh, Amber was just about to give her a command when Alexis and Yuki intervened, a mini snowstorm striking the bugs in midair.

"Beeeeee!" The weakened bees swayed, buzzing to shake off the snow and warm themselves up as they turned towards Alexis. The one in the middle, the female, snickered down at her. This girl, unlike that annoying and incompetent trainer with the Rockruff, looked like a feisty one. She could almost respect humans like that. And although the ice type had an advantage, the Combee had plenty of backup from the rest of the swarm. Time to test whether this kid really was a worthy opponent.

Flapping her wings faster, the Combee whipped up a mini tornado, which spun towards Alexis and Yuki. The air churned as the males followed suit, preparing their own Gust attacks.

Amber acted at once. Recalling Aeshna and Tacita, she sent out Larimar and Almandine. "Alma, quick, Fake Out! Larimar, use Smack Down! Kyra, Rock Throw!"

With a chuckle, Almandine jumped at a Combee and clapped a shockwave in his direction, startling him before he could unleash his attack. While Larimar formed an orange, rock shaped energy chunk in front of her that flew at another Combee, instantly knocking him out, Kyra leapt in front of Alexis and took the Gust. She howled as the tornado flung her against a wall.

"Kyra!" Amber called, but the Rockruff easily shook off the flying type attack, jumping back up. The rocks on her neck glowed, orbs forming around them and turning into chunks of stone, which shot at the swarm. Another male fell unconscious.

The female Combee gave a triple scowl at the scene. Well, this wasn't fair - the other trainer had more fighting spirit and respect from her Pokemon than she'd assumed. Nonetheless, her focus remained on the one with the Snorunt. She dived, all three mouths open and glowing white as she aimed a Bug Bite at Yuki.

The walk along the country lane would have been peaceful, if not for the fans who still crowded Andre. Of course, Andre didn't seem to mind, seizing the opportunity to put on a show in the form of a battle.

Grace folded her arms. She considered turning down his suggestion, but three things stopped her. One, this was the perfect opportunity to knock Andre down a peg or two in front of his fans. Two, battling alongside Ember would be fun. And three, she couldn't deny there was some appeal to acting out the games they used to play. Reliving older, happier times. "If you insist... When you say the four of us, you mean a double battle, right?" She turned to Ember, the one she'd often times teamed up with during their imaginary battles. "What do you say? You up for wiping the grin off of his face?"

Despite her outward confidence, the presence of so many people made her stomach flip over and over. She clenched her fists. She had no reason to be nervous. Sure, she had little experience of battles besides a few casual ones, but her book knowledge of Pokemon would make up for that, right? "Hey Tex, want to do this?" By her side, Vertex gave an enthusiastic nod.

Stepping back, Grace faced Andre and Saint as Vertex floated in front of her, ready for battle. All too aware of the crowd's gazes, Grace tried to reassure herself she could do this, to think of something confidence-inspiring. The words that came back to her were, of all people, Andre's. Younger Andre, telling her she could be a great trainer some day.
I'd be up for the battle, Grace could battle Andre to try to bring him down a peg or two in front of his fans. Which will backfire if she loses xD

But anyway I imagine the group, or at least some of them, might have played a game as kids where they pretended to be Pokemon trainers? So the battles could bring back memories of happier, more carefree times. At least it would for Grace.
Ok so since Matt and Regis seem to be quite a distance away, I edited my post.

@Eveekitten @Euphoria

Grace listened to the impromptu speech, relieved that Ember hadn't given up her intellectual side. Too many people dumbed themselves down in favour of following the herd, so it was reassuring to meet those few exceptions. "It's ok, nice to see someone who actually uses their brain," she replied. "Yeah, their ability to enter and interact with cyberspace is something researchers are still trying to fully figure out. Vertex sure likes exploring their capabilities." She patted the Porygon on the head. "Fair warning, this means you might have to keep an eye on your electronics."

Her tiny smile grew a fraction at Finn's antics. "Eevee's quite a mystery to researchers too, adapting so easily to most any environment. It's said that understanding Eevee's evolutions could be the key to understanding Pokemon evolution in general." This was something Pokemon and humans had in common, she thought, their circumstances shaped them in many different ways. It was no wonder that, besides Ember, the group she'd known so well now felt like a bunch of strangers.

To the side, she spotted the Pokemon Saint sent out, a small spectral dragon shaped like an arrow. "Hmm... Dreepy, right? First form of Dragapult?" She'd never actually seen one in person, but while working on a tower defense game, she'd looked up Pokemon who would nicely accompany Blastoise, Clawitzer, Decidueye, and other ranged weapon users.

Vertex floated over to Bullet and tried to boop him on the head, only to slip right through the ghost type. The bewildered normal type tilted back and forth like a rocking Ponyta, before steadying themselves and giving a series of laugh-like beeps. The mishap thankfully did nothing to stop them getting along, the two of them chasing each other through the air as Bullet gained confidence. For all the tension between trainers, the Pokemon appeared to take to each other right away.
I'm up for PVP if anyone wants to battle Grace. Ember or Andre seem like the ones she's most likely to battle, you ok with that @Eveekitten @Crimson Flame?
@Crimson Flame @Eveekitten

Despite Vertex's reaction, Grace didn't plan on softening her attitude. She had every reason to be annoyed at Andre. Before she could call him out, he kissed her on the cheek and stuck a rose behind her ear as he had with the others - leaving her unexpectedly tongue-tied. Her glasses steamed up. Hastily, she turned away, taking them off and rubbing them on her sleeve, hoping he hadn't noticed that or the slight blush that warmed her cheeks. That charmer attitude of his most certainly wouldn't work on her!

"Hmph..." She put her glasses back on and glared. "Y'know, the occasional message wouldn't have gone amiss." Nonetheless, some part of her - some stupid part - wanted to believe his words. That they were truly all reunited. That he'd show his former kindness and generosity, without running off and abandoning them again. Yeah right, she thought, that's the epitome of wishful thinking.

As she stepped back and looked around, she could tell things really weren't the same. Kairi didn't even seem to connect with them any more. Speaking in bored monotone? Smoking? This wasn't like her. What had happened?

A voice piped up, pulling Grace from her thoughts. "Wow, I've never actually seen one up close!" Ember seemed rather taken with Vertex, kneeling next to them as they greeted her with a soft shoulder boop. A tiny smile tugged at Grace's lips. From the look of it, this was still the Ember she knew.

"This is Vertex, they're pretty friendly," she told Ember, as the Porygon did a flip in the air, visibly excited to be around all these people. Her eyes flicked to the happy-looking Eevee on Ember's shoulder. "I haven't seen an Eevee up until now. Well, except in pictures of course, way too many people treat them like accessories for social media, but I can tell you really care for yours."
