The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio
A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.
I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.
There is no question. Merely differing paths to a preconceived answer.

blank stare ... What. Was that supposed to be deep and meaningful or something? Why's everyone gotta wax philosophical? You sound like a certain comra- Uhh, rival of mine! I guess it's true in some cases though. I mean, there's no question as to whether I'll make a name for myself in the Kosei region! It's simply gotta happen!
Amber Pine, Pokemon Spiral
Ohh! A philosophical discussion? I'm more of a scientist, but I'm up for that. Thinking about it, it does apply pretty well to science, there are several ways to reach the same conclusion. Personally I like to observe in the field, but it sure is interesting to compare notes and methods with other researchers. I heard there's a professor in Alola who willingly gets himself hit with Pokemon attacks to learn about them, that's quite some dedication!
@TheNoCoKid I can play an overseer if you'd like, which types do the remaining unplayed overseers have? Is there a slot for a water one? I have a character concept I never got to play in another RP.
"Ah!" Oriana spun round at George's cry. She stared at Devastator, who writhed in his arms, clearly in a bad way. Thankfully, Rory knew what to do, giving the little dragon a block of medicinal food. It worked in a matter of seconds, Devastator jumping up and acting like his usual energetic self.
Oriana exhaled in relief and smiled, even as Rory chastised George, and her for some reason. At least he went on to congratulate them. "Looks like he's a tough one," she said, glancing from George to the bouncy little Bagon, before grinning at Rory. "Thanks! Didn't expect to catch a Pokemon so quickly! I wonder which others we'll find around here?"
As George resumed his exploration, she followed him, unusually pensive. It was dangerous out here, her parents always said, no place for a kid. She'd brushed it off as overprotectiveness, but now she'd seen firsthand what could go wrong. Did they have a point? No, it'd be fine. Devastator was fine. Once she and George got the hang of the basics, they'd be able to deal with anything the wider world threw at them.
She watched him send out the Ekans, who hissed, less than pleased about the emergency capture. "You got quite the feisty one there," she commented, petting Shakudo, who'd wriggled back in alarm at the sight of the cranky snake. In response to the question, she beamed and tapped the button on the Pokeball. A flash of light solidified into the Roggenrola. "Meet Carnelian! Isn't she a cutie?"
"Rola!" With an indignant grumble, Carnelian used Harden as a display of toughness, her body glowing blue and shining like a polished gem.
Oriana giggled. "I mean, cute and badass can go hand in hand. It's said a Roggenrola's body is as hard as steel, and made up of dirt from several centuries ago! Fascinating creatures, aren't they?"

"What...?" At the explosion outside, Solanna turned from the contest organisers and hurried to the window. Right away, she recognised the two reeling trainers. "Ok, no way was that just some friendly sparring match," she called to her sisters. "Something's going down, let's go!"
She rushed through the hall, but as usual when she tried to get involved with such things these days, Lorraine called out. "Wait!" Biting back a sigh, Solanna looked over her shoulder as Lorraine stepped forward, one hand raised, that solemn expression on her face. "Look. I know you want to help. But someone's gotta prepare the contest, Hailey and I can deal with whatever shit's going on outside."
The laugh Solanna forced turned out more strained than intended. "No need to worry, I can handle it no problem. It's probably just some random delinquents anyway. But please, I've gotta do something, there are people in trouble, people I know!"
Lorraine gave a drawn out sigh. "Then by that same token, Hailey and I will be fine. You're the sunny one, you focus on the cheery stuff. I'll deal with the proverbial rain on these people's parade." Tension hung in the air like a brewing storm as words went unsaid. Both of them knew random delinquents were rare in Vareena. And both of them knew the real reason why intervening may be a bad idea. So many shady goings-on since that incident eighteen months ago. Goings-on Solanna couldn't look into without suffering for it, some kind of mental block getting in the way. She winced. Even thinking about it made a headache start welling up.
"Lani, Lori, please." A much softer voice piped up. Hailey inched over, hands clasped. "Let's, uh... Let's just be careful out there, ok? I'll help however I can. Just, please, don't bicker."
What Solanna hoped was a bright smile lit up her face. "Thanks, and yeah. C'mon Lori, what are we waiting for?" She threw open the doors and ran outside, Lorraine sticking by her side like a bodyguard, Hailey trailing behind them. "What happened just now?"
Near Vareena Contest Hall
The blast sent Sophia tottering back. Shielding her eyes against the burst of light, she lost her balance and tumbled to the side. Her already nagging migraine spiked with each cough the smoke sent racking through her body.
"Lacey! Oscar! Y-You ok?" she spluttered, blinking away afterimages and staring around. The two grunts had fled the scene. "Where'd those no-goods go? Lacey, can you sense them nearby?" Lacey looked this way and that, ribbons twitching, before shaking her head.
Something, however, did catch the Gothita's attention. "Ita?" She ran to the shrubbery, peering at something inside.
"Hm?" Sophia crawled over. Before she could spot what was in there, a vaguely familiar voice drew her attention. Three women approached her and Oscar, one of them a certain energetic redhead she recognised. "Solanna!" The girl beside Solanna, the storm to her sun with her electric blue ponytail and black denim jacket, frowned and folded her arms as she took in the scene. From behind them, a pale, white-clad wisp of a girl shuffled forward.
"You're not hurt, are you?" She crouched, light blue hair hanging in her face, and helped Sophia up with the gentlest of touches.
Sophia leaned against a tree, grateful for the shade that made the day's brightness more bearable. "I'm fine." She looked over at Solanna. "There were these two sketchy guys though, they were putting something in the shrubbery, and the moment we went over, they battled us. We kicked their butts of course, but they got away."
Igarashi Nanami, Malevolence from Beyond (eldritch magical girl who fights eldritch horrors)
The sea! I've always been drawn to it, but even more so since I got my water form. Especially just before a storm, there's something about that raw energy y'know? And now, it somehow feels like home.
"Huh... Maybe what happened wasn't so bad!" Nanami gave a shaky laugh. Her heart still hammered from the experience, but if Saya's health problems were cured, and she herself had grown stronger... "I mean, the way it happened certainly was, but that creature did say it wanted to help. And if you're feeling better, seems like it actually did!"
Her eyes widened at Saya's next words. "Magical girls? Heh, anything's possible after that!" As bizarre as the idea seemed, it couldn't hurt to test whether it was true. Taking a deep, steady breath, she willed herself to transform.
Water swirled around her. "Wha-?" Her body reshaped itself like liquid once more, but this time there was no pain. In fact, shifting came as naturally to her as walking or breathing. When the foamy whirls faded, she looked down at her new form and gasped.
Well, this wasn't what came to mind when she thought of magical girls. Blue, yellow and white fishlike skin glinted in the lamplights, translucent patches showing mechanical-looking muscle and sinew. Fins lined her limbs, and tentacles trailed from her shoulders and hips, each one tipped with a metallic pincer. "Oh wow..." She raised and studied the tendrils, the new limbs moving just as easily as her arms and legs. She barely had to turn her head, her field of vision much wider, her eyesight so sharp she could see deep into the shadows of the trees. Running to a nearby pond, she crouched and stared at her reflection. Looking back was a being with only traces of herself, her form mostly that of the aquatic alien.
"I'm..." Those six eyes blinked. She reached up, touching the smooth manta-like fin that had replaced her hair. "I'm an actual mermaid? Well, close to it anyway!" Through the whirl of bewildered thoughts, the word came to her. "A Thalassan." How had she even known that? She had no idea, but one thing was certain... this really wasn't so bad. Of course, if she could still blush, she would have done at the fact that she was naked, but at least scales covered everything. And while she was no conventional mermaid, a Thalassan seemed much cooler.
Not that she'd want to be standing around where she could freak out passers-by. She hurried and hid under a shaded, leafy canopy. Insects fluttered and crawled in the corners of her expanded vision, in stark clarity despite the darkness. That was going to get distracting, but everything else had to make it worthwhile. "This is awesome!" She grinned at Saya, her ribs convulsing with joyous laughter. "We're real magical girls! Hey, let's see your magical form!"
Ziola Ozro, Stranded: Blacksite (life elemental mage, former doctor, and inmate aboard a space station prison where not everything is as it seems)
Heh, can't say I'm all that optimistic about my lifespan. Soldiers running amok with guns and flamethrowers for fuck knows what reason will do that to you. It's a miracle any of us made it out at all without ending up as charcoal. Still, nothing to do but try to help keep my fellow survivors in one piece for as long as possible.
- What would you dress up as for Halloween, or your world's equivalent thereof?
@Crimson Flame The Dratini one wasn't made up, but now I'm finding it's more fun/makes more sense to make custom dex entries, considering the Rufflet one.
Oh btw, question for both you and @TheNoCoKid, I once drew a poison/dragon mega Arbok, with its hood shaped like wings. How does that sound? It could be a regional variant if you'd prefer that to a mega. Either way, if you'd like a draconic Arbok, I can find and redraw it.
Oriana chuckled. "Tame? Anywhere's gotta be better than Mercer. And it's ok, no matter how tough she is, we've got this! Getting into that forest's gonna be cakewalk. Ooooh, I hope there are Pinecos! Forretress is totally underrated!"
Excitement swelled through her as the jeep drew to a stop. She jumped out, eyes widening when Rory presented both her and George with the Pokeballs. "Yayyy thanks!" Storing them in her bag, she tapped the button on Shakudo's Pokeball. He reappeared in the grass, head turning from side to side as he took in the hilly view. "Alright Kudo, time to get you a friend! Let's gooooo-aaaah!"
She'd hurried down the route a little too eagerly. Her foot slid from under her, and the ground shot up. The thick grass cushioned the impact, but Shakudo squeaked in alarm, darting over. "Ugh... I'm ok! Gotta pick yourself up when you fall and all that!" With an awkward laugh, she pet the Dratini and stood. While she wasn't hurt, it turned out she'd stepped on a rotten Sitrus berry, yellow mush all over her boot.
"Eheheh, what a start, huh?" She slid her foot back and forth in the grass, wiping off as much berry gunk as possible, before heading to a craggy area to scrape the rest off. That was when she heard a cry.
"Rolaaaaa!"
Her attention snapped to the side, where a scuffle took place among the outcroppings. It took Oriana a moment to recognise one of the Pokemon involved - a Dwebble, with no shell. It jabbed its claws repeatedly against a Roggenrola, who flailed helplessly on its back. "Hey!" Oriana sprinted over. Considering the Dwebble's lack of a rock, it was easy to put two and two together. "That's not any old rock! Here, use this instead."
After a frantic glance around, she grabbed a large, loose rock and placed it in front of the Dwebble. The bug left the Roggenrola alone and examined its potential new shell, quickly going to work on it with its claws and corrosive spittle. Once it had hollowed out the stone, the Dwebble scurried inside, poking out its head and legs. With a grateful cry, it scuttled away.
"Are you alright, little one?" Oriana crouched and righted the Roggenrola. Thankfully its stony body seemed to be tough, bearing only a few light scratches.
"Roggen!" With an insistent cry, it stood tall - well, as tall as it could for its tiny size - almost toppling backwards again in the process.
Oriana giggled. "Careful there. If it helps you feel better, I took a tumble just now too." As she watched Shakudo approach, sniffing at the wild Pokemon and tilting his head, an idea came to her. "Hey, wanna come along with me and Shakudo here?"
The Roggenrola hopped closer, its voice much more cheerful this time. "Rola!" A huge smile spreading across her face, Oriana scrambled through her bag for a Pokeball and threw it. With the protrusion on its head, the Roggenrola struck the capsule as if heading a soccer ball, and jumped inside as soon as it opened. The device snapped shut, a ping from Oriana's Dex Watch confirming the catch.
"Roggenrola, the mantle Pokemon. The dragons of the Kaida region sometimes try to hoard it, drawn to the energy core inside, so it listens out for threats with its hexagonal ear."
Raising her eyebrows, Oriana gave Shakudo a mock finger waggle. "No hoarding Carnelian, ok?" She scooped up the Pokeball and leapt to her feet. "Sweet, a second Pokemon already! Guys, I did it, I caught one!" Rushing back, she noticed Rory also holding a Pokeball, smiling at it. "Ohh? You did too? Congratulations!"

@BangoSkank Thanks! Glad you're finding it helpful :)
- What gives you purpose in life? What drives you?
Oriana Lindberg, Pokemon Rust
Exploring the world! Seeing it for myself, instead of just hearing about it in stories, and meeting the dragon who created the Kaida region! I can't wait! Afterwards I may travel to other regions, or become a field researcher. It's already amazing to have this much freedom! I thought I'd be cooped up at home or in my parents' store forever. They say being a trainer in Kaida isn't worth the risk, but they've got nothing to worry about, I'll do just fine!
- How do you feel about your family?
Ehh. They have my best interests at heart I guess, and I love them, but do they have to be such sticks in the mud? If I stayed stuck in Dullsville just cos they thought it was safer or whatever, I swear I'd lose my freaking mind!
- Do you have any noteworthy allies or enemies?
Yes!! I sure have a noteworthy ally and rival! None other than George Pendragon the Third! If you don't know who he is, he's from a long line of dragon trainers, so he's gotta be pretty formidable himself! I'm all for some friendly competition, and the tougher the better!
- What's your pet peeve?
(Edit: Oooops! Bango, I was typing up this post just as you replied, so didn't see your question. Anyway, edited more answers in!)
