Current To those I RP with, I haven't dropped off of the face of the earth, just had a mental health crash but am recovering. Now to catch up on posting.

The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

Assuming nothing comes up, I'll start up the IC on Friday. This will still give people time to make their character sheets, and if they're not done by then don't worry, the first few rounds of posting will probably take enough time to easily jump in @FroggRFlowR @geminironin @Vertigo
Loving everyone's characters!

@TheWendil Am I right in thinking the Detention Club is pretty much a dark version of the Hero Club in Yuki Yuna Is A Hero? While watching that anime, I thought "Aha that's where the inspiration came from".
I do wonder how Niles will fit in with the more laid back personalities in the group.

Oh his interactions with Kieran will be fun xD

@Crimson Flame Elaborated on Kieran's abilities and added an animal companion:

@Ponn
Great to have you back! As much as I mess the eldritch tentacle gentlemen I hope to get comfy with the only magical girl who can use “Killer Queen” as their theme song…actually she’d be the second since we have a Chess Magical Girl, but she’s not dynamite with a laser beam.

The pawns are technically dynamite, and the bishops have something akin to laser beams 😆
Here's what I have so far!

Name: Kieran Bradshaw

Age: 18

Appearance:

Kieran stands at 6'2", with a lanky beanpole build. He has pale skin and soft, narrow features. His wardrobe consists of simple hoodies, T-shirts and jeans, all in black - he views dressing up as an unnecessary hassle, hence his perpetually messy hair, but he'll accessorise with the occasional skull ring or chunky neck chain. He has a few tattoos he designed himself; on his upper back is a black crescent moon with wispy clouds across it, and on his right forearm is a fountain pen with a swirl of ink.

Personality: Despite his dark and gloomy appearance, Kieran is one of the most laid-back, upbeat people you'll meet. It takes a lot to anger or upset him. While it means he isn't the most responsible person and has trouble taking life seriously, it makes him easy to get along with - as long as you can handle his pranks, his dark sense of humour, and the spooky stories he likes to tell. He has a mischievous streak, quietly watching and waiting for the best moment to pull a practical joke.

He's a coolly confident young man, and tends to think he can handle situations that end up getting him in over his head. He'll think up a plan, only to overlook something important, leading to his friends having to bail him out. To which he'll keep up as much of his usual chill attitude as possible, and say he was sure could've gotten things under control (all while being grateful deep down).

He has a strong creative side, and carries a sketchpad around with him at all times, filled with everything from quick scribbles to intricate drawings. He knows inspiration can strike anywhere.

History: Being the son of an established horror graphic novelist, Douglas Bradshaw, has its advantages and disadvantages. It meant Kieran grew up admiring his father as a role model, and developing a keen creative sense himself. Unfortunately, it also got him viewed as a weirdo at school. "Eerie Kieran", his peers would call him. Whenever anything went wrong, other kids would spread rumours that he secretly made deals with demons to put curses on people. Kieran became withdrawn, trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible, which only made him more of a target.

Thankfully, as many jerks as there were in the school, there were also those who didn't judge him, and even thought it cool who his dad was. He gravitated towards a group of other boys his age, and their friendship gave him confidence. Throughout his teenage years, he learned to own his dark and spooky reputation. He started making up ghost stories. He developed a liking for classic goth rock music like Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy. He became open about enjoying things typically seen as odd or macabre. And if anyone gave him flack for it, he'd either shrug it off, or go along with how the bullies viewed him and try to deliberately creep them out. He was Eerie Kieran and proud.

He didn't really consider what he wanted to do with his life until his late teens - there didn't seem to be a great deal of options for creative types - but his friends and family encouraged him to pursue art college anyway. He's decided to work towards becoming a tattoo artist. Still, he wants to hang out and have fun with the group as much as possible before he starts higher education.

Magical Form:

Weapon: A pair of curved black and white twin daggers.

Element: Shadow

Studying the symbols the officer pointed out, Zircon frowned. They weren't like anything she'd seen before. She thought back to the nightmarish scenario in the ballroom, the panicked and rushed search for clues - if only they'd spent longer looking. If they had, they might have more information to give.

She bit back an exasperated sigh when Sky decided to take this as proof this was the dark fairies' doing. "Doesn't look like shadow magic to me," she muttered. "But if it isn't earth magic... Then what is it?"

Nothing of fairy origin, according to the officer. Zircon's frown deepened. Who could have it in for their kind? And why? Vyvien set about trying to find the answer, putting her magic detector to use. "Any luck?" Zircon asked Vyvien. "Hmm, do you know anyone who might be able to help? I hear Feydale's quite the knowledge hub."

She turned her gaze back to Sky before continuing. "Or... I doubt the dark fairies did this, but they might have some useful information. I've visited Transfeyvania a few times on business journeys, and they have an impressive library." She'd been in search of crafting guidebooks, but the place seemed to contain texts on most anything and everything. Ancient arcane languages and symbols, rare branches of magic, historical conflicts - there had to be something relevant.

Of course, putting the idea in Sky's head may well have been a mistake, as he'd undoubtedly offend plenty of people there and make a prize fool of himself. Still, if it brought them closer to breaking the curse, it was worth suggesting.
@BrokenPromise Vegetables as weapons, I love it, as well as the D&D feel! And she'll be a fellow grump alongside Kohaku (incidentally, the name Kohaku means amber). Accepted!

Once @FroggRFlowR, @geminironin and @Vertigo make their characters, I'll start up the IC.
Between Roche’s dad being a (former) salaryman and Himea being loaded, I realize the Detention Club has all the funds to burn.

True, but who needs funds when invisibility lets you steal stuff?
