Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Gonna bow out of RPG Guild for a bit, and this RP as well. Currently overwhelmed by everything I have to do, and unfortunately, I don't think that I'll be able to participate in this RP because of that. :')

That's a shame, wishing you well though.

Thank you!

Gotcha, I've made all the edits.

Now since I've been accepted, do you have a discord server for this RP? If yes, can I get an invite link?

Excited to be writing with all of you, both old guards and fellow new peeps!

Sure, I'll send you a link. Looking forward to writing with you!
@Lugubrious My CS is up for review, GM!

That's a really excellent sheet, with an exceptional amount of effort put in! I'd be happy to accept her as is, but since we have some time anyway, there's just one note I have: that we could be a little more specific with the amount of stuff in her inventory. 'Assorted Grenades' could mean two smoke grenades or twelve napalm grenades, after all. No need to be specific about ammunition, but numbering her healing stims would be good, and we could also come up with how much money she has. I don't know what Blue Archive uses, but if she's been around for a little bit she might have World of Light money instead. If so, most of it uses 'zenny', 1 of which is equivalent to about 1 cent. However, Mafia Town uses pons, which are essentially cartoony emeralds. They're worth about 150 cents each in terms of value. Of course, that's all nitty gritty details. The sheet itself is definitely accepted.
Count me in for this! I already have a character in mind, but will be traveling for the next few days, so I’ll try and get a sheet done sometime this weekend.

Hello and welcome! I'll look forward to seeing what you have in mind.
I heard a certain light novel counts as a video game, but would a version of a character that originates from an actual video game also count to be even more authentic?

Because if so...

Hello and welcome! And yeah, Archer is a valid pick, as long as he's brought down to an appropriate starting level for the RP.
When will this start?

August 25th will be the IC start, I'm making the real thread this Sunday on the 18th. So like I said, plenty of time for concepting, refining and bulking up sheets.
Hey ho! Taking a crack at this again. I'll make sure that the characters I want to write as originated from a video game this time before putting too many hours into musing them, that was a blunder. Sorry, Yatogami Tohka, your Light Novel came first before your game.

That said, I have a couple questions:
1. Do visual novels count as video games?
2. Are characters from a simultaneous multi-media franchise (that includes a video game among those medias they started with) allowed? An example of this is Synduality, a multi-media project by Bandai Namco that launched off as a video game, anime, and music album simultaneously.
3. Would there be any logistic issues for characters that primarily fight in a vehicle / mech such as Armored Core pilots? Should they be avoided?

Hello and welcome! Let's see about your questions...

1. Yes, so characters from Ace Attorney and Danganronpa would count, for instance.
2. That's an interesting question. While I'd prefer to not ride the line if possible, but I think I'd be inclined to allow it, as long as the characters in question are in the game part
3. That's a good question. There's Captain Falcon and various Star Fox characters that pretty much do all their fighting on foot, but there's also Bowser Junior, who rides his Clown Car into battle. I guess it depends on the size of the vehicle. D Va's mech would definitely be manageable and could just be summoned as an Ability, and fantasy characters who ride pegasi or horses could definitely have them, while larger vehicles like a Metal Attacker we could keep in the Avenger's vehicle bay. Armored Cores are really big though, and anything of that size would probably pose a logistical issue. So maybe we'll say 'those are allowed, within reason'?
I revamped it but I'm not really sure where I should squeeze in Cortana

Rather than squeeze her in, you could start without her and then add her via level upgrades, maybe, if we don't find her somewhere in the world.
@LugubriousNAh, you're right. I definitely need to make another draft. My only excuse is I was making it during class lol

No problem, take all the time you need, and if you need a hand with anything I'm here for you. One thing that did strike me as amusingly fitting is starting him in Skyworld, since he's dealt with his fair share of halos lol. We could possibly conceive of a sort of base for him and maybe some ODSTs among the sky islands that they're operating from to assist Palutena's army against the Corruption (he's had his fair share of fighting living plagues like that, too).
Name: Master Chief Petty Officer John-117
Origin: Halo
Appearance:

Personality: Professional, reserved, and determined.

Background: Born "John" in 2511, he is covertly taken from the human colony world of Eridanus as a child and conscripted into the SPARTAN-II super-soldier project by the United Nations Space Command (UNSC)

In the Now: A private headhunter, working jobs in Skyworld.

Job: Supersoldier
Specialty: Combat expertise, extreme tactical reasoning, and many cybernetic mental, and physical augmentations.
Inventory: MA40 Assault Rifle, MK50 Sidekick

Lv: 1 (You start with 5 level-upgrades you can split between Powers and Skills)
EXP: 0/10
Abilities: Wrist-mounted Grappleshot: Allows users to grab objects from a distance or pull themselves elsewhere.
Smart Scope: Links the weapon's sights or scope to the Spartan's interface, allowing for increased marksmanship even with weapons without a scope

Skills: Master at hand-to-hand combat.
Strength (without armor): Can lift at least 3 times his body weight. Lifted 500 kilograms as a test. His Mjolnir armor improves this by a factor of 5.
Enhanced senses, Speed: Can run up to 60 mph.
Enhanced reaction time: Has a reaction time of 0.02 seconds.
Weaknesses: Energy shields must recharge after taking an extended beating, leaving him open to damage for a few seconds,
Armor may lock up if exposed to extreme amounts of energy.
Cortana: His AI companion is one of his greatest strengths but also one of his most powerful weaknesses. His care for her extends beyond himself.

Hello and welcome. It would be an honor for Master Chief to join us! I do have a couple small notes on the sheet. Grappleshot, Smart Scope, Strength, Enhanced Senses, Enhanced Speed, and Enhanced Reaction Time is 6 total points, while I mentioned starting with 5. There's also the matter of Cortana, whose presence is only implied by that last weakness. Having her around is an enormous asset, and something that's a greatest strength shouldn't just count for a weakness.

I would recommend having him start without Cortana, and then encountering her early on in the story. You could also include his Mjolnir armor in his inventory, and mention that the helmet provides HUD aim assistance features without having to use an Ability slot on it. Conversely, having energy shields that prevent damage to him should probably count as an Ability. The sheet is not bad at all, but it's also quite succinct, and since we have some time before the RP starts feel free to add more details to it over time.

For instance, instead of a weakness that's 'in certain circumstance, he can take damage', you could mention 'if his shields are depleted, he's vulnerable to headshots could be killed with by one from anything as strong or stronger than the Sidekick'. And while you mentioned one of his Skills is that he's a master of unarmed combat, I assume it goes without saying that he's a master of any and all firearms, as well?

Hopefully that all makes sense? I don't mean to be nitpicky; I mostly just want to make sure that every power and skill is clearly outlined, without any extras bundled in, and that weaknesses are all relevant and functional. Everyone starts out weak but we'll all build back up as we play. Regardless, we've got plenty of time to hash it out. I'll look forward to writing with you!
