Indigo was amused by the fact that she didn't seem to take this seriously, rather it looked like his partner was enjoying herself in all the trouble as she suggested to run a certain direction in a singing way. Completely taken in by the pace of things, he decided it would be best to follow her as the sounds of the Grimm were trying to catch up to them from almost every direction. A bit into their escape two Beowulves dropped down from some buildings in front of them hoping to land directly on top of them as their claws and body were stretched out as if diving onto prey. Indigo's mind began racing in order to counter the attack from these two creatures without losing too much speed from his run. "Should I let her handle it?" He looked to Kay who was in front of him but the girl seemed to be oblivious to the incoming attack.
"Maybe I should start doing something at the very least." He thought as he spotted what seemed to be a abandoned toy ball on the side of the road, perhaps left by some kid from a time when the city wasn't a den for Grimm. He quickly went up to it and gave it a fairly strong kick. Although the ball seemed to have lost some of its firmness over the ages, it was still effective as it flew up towards the Beowolf lunging towards Kay and struck the beast square in the jaw. Flight path disrupted, it sailed harmlessly over the energetic young girl and landed hard in the weed-covered street. With little time left, Indigo faced his predator as it closed in on him, "Trouble." He said as he quickly sidestepped out of the way of the attack, while the air near him whistled as the creature shot past him, no blood was drawn.
"Indy!" KK called back in surprise, slowing up slightly at the sight of the stunned Beowolf. "I think these things are trying to learn how to fly! Or play soccer... Either way they're... evolving..." The overly-serious manner in which she spoke was quickly countered by the flourish that brought Breakr smashing down on the dazed Grimm's skull. She looked slightly disappointed it died so easily. "Huh... Okay, maybe not."
Before the second Beowolf had time to recuperate itself Indigo intensely grabbed it's leg as a bit of his aura poured out and did a quick spin facing towards the group of pursuers behind them and threw their companion towards them at a devastating speed knocking a great deal of them down, and ultimately slowing their chase by a bit. But in little time, the creatures had regained the pace they had lost. "Aw, man. They are so much trouble." He thought to himself as he looked back to their pursuers.
Rounding a corner, Kaesey spotted a large, squat building that was largely still intact. "Let's hide up there!" She cheered to her companion, grabbing him by the wrist and pulling him aside. Holding a thumb in the air to judge the distance, KK whipped her flail into a quick rotation behind her head and, with a slight flick and the press of a button, sent the flail head flying into the sky. Mid flight, five spring-loaded hooks extended from the head and converted the device into a sort of grappling hook that just barely made it over the lip of the building's roof. After giving the handle an experimental tug, the sandy-blonde haired girl smiled as she pressed Indigo's hands onto the hilt. "Hold on tight, please!" Without waiting for a response, she jammed another button and the weapon's motor began drawing them upward at a surprising speed until finally they dangled a few inches from the roof. She quickly reached up to grab the ledge and, with a slight grunt of effort, pulled herself up.
Indigo after pulling himself up he looked at the bottom where the Beowolves began to lost interest in them with several angry barks. Indigo released a heavy sigh, "I think the whole lesson of this event is not to yell 'Cool!' in the middle of an abandoned city filled with Grimm." Indigo said to the girl, "But then again, crashing down from an upper floor of a building wasn't exactly the greatest idea too." He thought to himself as he didn't want to admit out loud that he actually threw himself into trouble. He coughed and turned away from the girl hoping she wouldn't get upset at his remark about her excitement earlier, "Next time, you can just whisper 'Cool!' and do hand motions and stuff to emphasize it. That way it would be quiet and twice as exciting!" He lied to her.
"You think so?" KK's eyes got big as she tilted her head in thought. After a moment she tried a few experimental poses while whispering "Cool!" and ended up making herself giggle at the effort.
They probably needed a way to get off the roof or travel on the roofs to the next building. "I guess, I really should take this a bit more seriously." He said to himself as he unequipped his weapon by his side. With a jerking motion a blade shot out from the weapon that at first resembled a mace. He held it in his right arm, wielding it as one would a tonfa. "Maybe we can travel across these buildings and get to our destination safer. My weapon can shoot a hook too." He suggested to her as he pointed to a building that would likely be their next course.
Kaesey 'Oooh'ed at his weapon flourish, positively mesmerized by the device. After a minute, she shook herself from the daze and finally managed a glance around at the skyline surrounding them. They'd managed to make their way deeper into the city and now the buildings rose around them like forgotten monuments or gravestones to whoever used to call this place home. They were in far better condition than those they'd seen at the edges and indeed many roofs looked like they would support them. Squinting her eyes, KK looked at a particular cluster of buildings some distance away. "Hey... Isnt that a church towery... Pointy... Thing?" She said, putting her hands to a point above her head to imitate the steeple. "C'mon, I think we can just about make it there without touching the ground!"
Brandishing her own 'hook', she ran towards the next closest roof and jumped with hardly a thought, using her weapon to catch the edge before pulling herself up. Indigo was quick to follow, the small grapple of his own weapon giving him a much more graceful form of travel. Together they moved roof-to-roof until they could see the church only a few hundred meters away. "Do you think that's it? Maybe we'll be the first ones!" The girl's long blonde braid bounced about her shoulders as she jumped with excitement. Unfortunately, this action was too much for the old ruin and, with a loud crash, the floor beneath them collapsed and they fell into the building below.
KK coughed through the dust as her eyes refocused on the small patch of daylight far above them before she rolled onto her stomach with a groan. "Indy? *cough* Indy, are you *cough* okay?" There was no immediate response and a quick scan of her surroundings revealed that they'd apparently fallen into the ruins of an old supermarket. Ten foot high shelves were scattered about in long isles, the sturdy metal in various stages of rust and disrepair, and a layer of dust and large thick cobwebs covered just about everything. Thankfully, whatever food had been left out had long since been picked clean leaving only the smell of dust and mildew. Indigo was nowhere in sight, having likely fallen to the other side of the nearest shelf. With a bit of effort, KK pushed herself to her feet and leaned against the metal for support. She wasn't seriously injured but the fall had certainly hurt. Lightly brushing the chalky dust from her pants and blouse, a sudden sinister chittering stopped her cold. "H-hello? Indy?" It was, unsurprisingly, not her friend making the strange insect-like sound as an impossibly large spider crested the shelf; its hundreds of beady red eyes looking hungrily down at her. "O-ohhhhhhhhhh no-no-no..." Kaesey whimpered as the Grimm's mandibles, which bore fangs as big around as her forearm, clicked in anticipating. Tiny droplets of spittle sizzled and smoked as they fell on the linoleum floor. To make matters worse, a quick pat of her hip revealed that Breakr had been lost from her grip and was now laying on the floor; separated from her by a few dozen feet and the monstrous creature. "H-help..." Was all she could squeak, spiders being one of her three deepest fears.
