You can change your username once every 3 months, and your old username will still link to you and won't be recycled. PM me if you want yours done.

Added a quick but long-requested feature back to user profiles that we used to have on oldguild:

It won't show up in your profile til someone views your profile since everyone starts with 0 viewers.

I might have fixed it.

I had a catastrophic bug in the Guild's core query-database function.

The fix:

Hopefully it's the cause of the request timeouts, so I'll be watching the metrics to see if things improve.

How soon will the Guild be up and running, after you take it off for some downtime?

I'm not sure. I'd say maybe 30 minutes if there are no issues. It's not a very difficult process to upgrade the database, I just always prepare for the worst.

Not sure when I'll do it. First I'm trying to hunt down the Guild's request-timeout issue.
Yeah, I'm trying to figure out what's happening.

I added an alert to the homepage to warn people about it.

Edit: Might have fixed it.

Looking into some request timeouts right now.

As usual, only click the submit button once and save your post before you do. And if you land on an error page, clicking the back button will usually load the previous page with your post still intact in the "New Post" textbox.
One thing I need to do is ratelimit new topics much harsher than new posts. I'd rather a spammer be forced to make a bunch of posts than a bunch of topics. I'll fiddle with the numbers this weekend but at least the machinery is in place.
@Mahz These tags look good... only question is that will we be able to add more than five?

I think so, I just have to see what the UI looks like as tag count increases.
What did that update even do? I thought it would keep those spammers out, or at least a fat majority out.

It's a work in progress and has some shortcomings -- particularly if a mod isn't online. But I guess you had to be there the weekend before registrations were temporarily disabled to get some perspective.
