Bio

Very well, where do I begin?

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet.

My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve, I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles.

There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking. I highly suggest you try it.

Ultimate One Universe: Season Two Application

Character You're Applying For: Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark/Iron Man

Powers and Abilities:

Powered Armor: All of Stark's "superhuman" abilities come from the use of his many self-made powered exoskeletons. These abilities include flight, superhuman strength and durability, and an array of various weapons.

Intellect: Outside of the armor, Stark is an inventive genius, primarily in the field of technology. His intelligence extends to business, social, and political knowledge.

Origin and Backstory: Tony Stark was adopted and raised by Maria and Howard Stark, the latter of whom is the owner and CEO of Stark Industries, a technology manufacturing and research company.

Tony, a boy genius, attended MIT and graduated at 17, earning his master's degree in electrical engineering and physics. Not long after, his parents were tragically killed in a car accident, leaving the company in Tony's hands.

During an overseas business trip, Tony was injured in an explosion caused by enemy forces, and was promptly kidnapped. The leader demanded Tony build weapons for them, but Tony discovered that a piece of shrapnel from the explosion had lodged itself in his chest and was nearing his heart. Another prisoner, notable physicist Ho Yingsen, assists Tony by building a magnetic chest plate to keep the shrapnel away from his heart. Together, the two work in secret to develop a powered suit of armor, which Tony uses to escape and rejoin American forces, with Yingsen being killed in the attempt.

Back home, Tony switches his focus from weapons manufacturing to building similar suits for use in fighting other threats against Stark Industries. When news coverage of the mysterious "Iron Man" appears, Stark claims that the figure is his personal robotic bodyguard and company mascot. Only two individuals know of Iron Man's true identity; secretary Virginia "Pepper" Potts, and chauffeur Harold "Happy" Hogan, both of whom work for Tony.

What Makes This Character 'Ultimate?': On top of keeping his double life secret, this Tony is far more laid back and not as quick to anger as other interpretations. While he does take his work and status seriously, he's not as serious about it as, say, Bruce Wayne. Some say this is a coping mechanism, although it's not clear whether it's to combat the painful memories of his neglectful father, or the trauma he experienced early on in his career. As beneficial as psychiatric help would be, Tony doesn't have the time nor the humility to pursue it.

Supporting Characters:

-Virgina "Pepper" Potts: Tony's secretary and close friend. One of the two people who know of Tony's identity as Iron Man.

-Harold "Happy" Hogan: Tony's personal chauffeur, whom Tony hired after Happy saved his life in a particularly rough spot. One of the two people who know of Tony's identity as Iron Man.

-J.A.R.V.I.S.: "Just A Rather Very Intelligent System." Named after the butler of Tony's parents, the AI acts as Tony's personal assistant both inside and outside the Iron Man suit.

Sample Post:

"Sir?"

Tony woke with a start, hitting his head on the bottom of his work desk, which he had somehow ended up under. "Ugh. What happened?"

"You fell asleep while working...again. I relocated you under the desk so you would not be stepped on," J.A.R.V.I.S. replied.

Tony groaned, sliding out from under his makeshift sleeping spot and standing up. "Why would I be in danger of being stepped on?" he questioned. "There's nobody here but you and me."

"Correction, sir. Miss Potts came in earlier this morning."

Oh, God.

"And what did she do?"

"She delivered your mail, sir. It's on your work desk."

Indeed, Tony saw a pile of envelopes on the desk, along with a handwritten note.

"you should talk to someone"

Typical Pepper. Sure, it was nice to have someone looking out for you, but she honestly had nothing to worry about. At least, that's what Tony thought. There was nothing wrong with staying up for days, tinkering away at his "pet projects." Besides, it was all for a good cause. So what if he had to sacrifice a little sleep here and there. That's the price of being a protector! Well, self-protector anyhow.

For the moment, Tony stuck to being Iron Man solely for the sake of Stark Industries. He was his own superhero; he didn't need any of those other ones out there. They didn't interfere in his business, so they didn't interfere in his, simple as that! Iron Man was for Stark Industries, not the people, and that's how it should be.

Right?

"J.A.R.V.I.S., what time is it?"

"Half-past one in the afternoon, sir."

Tony popped his knuckles. "Anything on the calendar?"

"No, sir, you have no scheduled events for today."

"Perfect. Could you fix me some coffee? Two sugars." Tony pulled on a pair of goggles and grabbed some tools. "We've made quite a lot of progress in the past few days. Why stop now?"

------------------------------------------------------

"Alert. Queens Testing Facility has been compromised."

Tony sighed and tossed his crossword aside. So much for a quiet day. "Activate suit-up protocols and get a visual on the building," he commanded as he headed for his self-dubbed "hangar."

"Interior or exterior, sir?"

"Both."

Two separate CCTV feeds appeared on screen. Outside, there was an armored truck, parked just behind the building. The inside painted a bleaker picture. Not only were there hooded figures grabbing any tech they could find, there was also a line-up of security guards, forced against the wall my more figures with guns. Big guns.

"You should know that the local police have been informed of the situation," J.A.R.V.I.S. pointed out as Tony approached the platform.

"Yeah, well, I have a feeling they're going to need back-up."

Tony extended his arms, slipping his hands into the awaiting gauntlets. The massive machine around him worked quickly, screwing the armored plates in position while the wearer simply waited. A hostage situation was nothing new, and neither was having the police be involved. Tony knew they meant well, but at the end of the day, it was Iron Man who protected his company.

Hell, Iron Man practically WAS the company.

With a final CLANG, Tony's faceplate locked into place, and the AI within the suit came to life.

"All systems are functional," J.A.R.V.I.S.'s announced.

"Let's not keep them waiting, then."

Fire ignited under his boots, giving the armored man the bit of lift he needed to hover out onto the "launching pad" of his building. Palms facing the ground, he lifted off, shooting into the atmosphere like a rocket.

Queens wasn't far, and when he got there, those tech thieves wouldn't know what hit them.

Since @Byrd Man hasn't made any further reservations known, and I personally am fine with what I see, I'd say you're good to go.

As soon as I get up tomorrow.

So... late afternoon/early evening?
Just a mere 24 hours and some change and we'll be ready for launch.

Who's got their first posts lined up and ready to go?

I'll begin writing mine today, and have my first arc outlined. I'll actually have plans and be looking to execute them! Gasp!
Ultimate One Universe: Season Two Application

Character You're Applying For:
Doctor Fate | Kent Nelson

Powers And Abilities:
While a capable practitioner of mystical arts himself, with the helmet, those powers become something more. He can feel when magic is being used around him, sense it's presence and can tune himself with the cosmos. Along with that are a list of powers that are only limited by his imagination, ranging from mental abilities like telepathy, hypnosis, and others to mystical powers like necromancy, divination, eldritch blast, and astral projection.

Without his helmet however, his powers are severely limited. His magical capabilities giving him telekinetic strength enough to move a car whereas with the helmet he can potentially move an entire planet. He's also invulnerable to normal and most explosive weapons and can fly and use his mystical powers to enhance his strength.

His abilities include medical knowledge, basic hand-to-hand combat, and occultism.

Origin And Backstory (In A Maximum Of Four Paragraphs):
Kent was born to the archaeologist Sven Nelson, and a medical doctor Tracy Nelson. His early childhood was uneventful, living a life that would be considered average to most, save that his parents put a heavy focus on his studies and always made sure that he was on the honour roll every week. Then there was the added sublayer of both parents subtly trying to sway the young Kent to take their individual professions, as if trying to sell them on the merits of either becoming a doctor or an archaeologist. However, because his father often had to go overseas to some newly discovered dig site, his mother eventually managed to convince him to go into a medical field in his senior year of high school.

After four years, he went to Cornell Medical School where he got his medical degree and eventually specialized in cardiothoracic surgery. During those incredibly harsh years of trying to become a doctor, then becoming one and facing the rigorous internship and residency that came afterwards, he had lost most of the social graces that he had learned in high school and became somewhat awkward, sometimes even delving curiously into the occult out of curiosity. Things changed a little for him when he met Dr. Inza, one of the board members of his hospital, at a charity event. The two hit it off quickly, becoming fast friends and eventually got into a relationship with each other, the occult curiosities he had all but forgotten.

Then his father called, adamant that he fly over to Mesopotamia to help him uncover an ancient tomb that he'd discovered. Reluctantly, he booked a ticket and within a week he was deep in the desert with his father, who explained to him that many tombs like those were filled with dangerous traps and they needed a doctor around in case things went bad. Within several more hours, and after a few drawbacks, they reached the pyramid and delved deep into it, using the map that his father had acquired to traverse the maze. They eventually reached the main chamber with a large golden sarcophagus in the centre surrounded by gold coins and trinkets covered in a thick layer of dust and webs. And while his father was looking through one of the gold pieces on the floor, Kent's curiosity got the better of him and he pushed part of the sarcophagus's lid off releasing a cloud of dust.

When Kent came through he found himself in the hospital, his father next to him who gently broke the news to him that whatever toxins were in the sarcophagus were now rapidly killing him and after telling him that his mother would be visiting him in the next couple of days, he left behind a helmet that was found within sarcophagus and told him that he was sorry. Once alone, the helmet spoke to him, the eyepieces glowing with a bright light as a voice rang in his head and told him to put it on. Thinking himself crazy, he threw the helmet across the room but watched it float back to him telling him once more to put it on. Seeing no other choice, he grabbed it and placed it on his head.

What Makes This Character 'Ultimate'?:
This character is different in many ways than the original concept of Doctor Fate. For one, the poison from the sarcophagus didn't kill his father, but rather affected Kent, poisoning him with an unknown agent that is constantly threatening to kill him without his helmet. Another difference is that he's self aware when he wears the helmet, he remembers everything that he does and it's himself that controls his actions instead of Fate. And of course, he's much younger than the current Kent Nelson, being somewhere around thirty-eight.

Supporting Characters:
Inza Cramer
Sven Nelson
Tracy Nelson

Sample Post:

The decision on approving the Iron Man sample depends on whether or not Byrd's concerns about the sample are addressed.
Everything looks awesome... except for Mamoa. Every one of his joke lines are kinda cringey, and there's alot of that "dudebro" aspect left over from Snyder's vision.

He looks pretty dope in the suit, though. And the suit looks good. Which in itself is an achievement.
Nobody is switching characters!

I refuse to change the banner again!

Except Simple Unicycle who made it clear that he'll eventually apply for Question.
This is what every prospective player wants to see the GM saying.

Hey would you look at that, Iris West died under mysterious circumstances between seasons. Weird direction to go in, but I accept it.
But you're Batman!

I'm a Batman.

Never specified which one, or whether or not I was one of the attentive ones.

At that point dire wolves had been "extinct" for centuries. So that is actually objectively incorrect.

Whatever! I don't do things like "read" or "pay attention"!
