How had life treated her? Pretty well, all things considered. Sheβs sure others had done better, even amongst those of them that showed up for this whole short notice reunion thing. Reunions were usually split up in ten year gaps, allowing for greater success or greater failure to be experienced in a personβs life. Not that CJ cared. She noticed, but she didnβt care. Things were getting torn downβthe town was changing, so someone probably thought it was the best idea to spring it on people that a lowkey mid-way reunion was in the books. Part of her wants to talk about her life. How things were going upward. But really, she doesnβt want to hear how well Ivory or anybodyβs lives had been. She doesnβt get the chance either. Before she can utter a one-note response Jack starts talking. Hanna screams again. Ivory uses big words and everyone heads back to the table. CJ takes her food and another drink, sighs, and follows suit. Lucas mentions that they arenβt sure if the shitty reunion is supposed to be just a night of drinking. Hanna mentions she forgot about something. Then thereβs a toast and everyone starts raising their glasses like it's a big old movie, she wouldβve laughed but she has a mouthful of burger. She mockingly raises her glass as she swallows her food. ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ | β #1.01 WAY DOWN WE GO stuck here again β L7 ββββββββββββββββββββββββ |
I donβt see any of you sluts using the Yearbook header on the sheets tab yet
It is a sly barb. CJ notices it, but she doesnβt take any mind over it. She takes another drink, βAt least you still have your sense of humor. Guess thatβs what keeps you alive.β As much as CJ wants to keep throwing residual snark back at Jack to see how she would continue to struggle, another voice hits the airβIvoryβs. CJ guesses that sheβs either getting a drink herself or she wants to make sure CJ doesnβt chase Jack right out of the bar. And boy did CJ want to. She asks how they were holding up. A weird question. Ivory isnβt blind and neither Anni or Jack are subtle. It wasnβt 1:1 like how it was in high school, but it seemed CJ could still get people to react, sometimes even by just existing in a space. She did that in the scene in Portland, too. If anybody expected her to have changed, well, it wouldnβt take long to show them that she had gotten much much worse. βWaiting for my food while Jackβs holding off on an anxiety attack.β CJ remarks, glibly, as she turns to look at Ivory if only for a minute with drink in hand. After slamming the rest of it, she turns back to look toward the bar staff as she slides her glass for a refill. βUnless you mean, like, in general.β ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ | β #1.01 WAY DOWN WE GO stuck here again β L7 ββββββββββββββββββββββββ |

βYeah. A cheeseburger. Fries. The whole deal.β CJ spoke nonchalantly as the bar staff took her order, being sure to tell them everything. βGet me a whiskey, too. Makerβs Mark. I donβt like Jack Daniels.β The bar staff pauses as soon as CJ says the word, the blondeβs forearms pressed against the bar counter as she leans in on the top of her toes. She follows the stafferβs eyes and sees what caused the reaction. She smirks. She knows what she is doingβof course she noticed that Jack had finally slumped into the bar after her initial comment in the parking lot. While the comment was intentionally directed it was also true. She didnβt really like Jack Daniels. Even Evan Williams was better. Truthfully, CJ is surprised Jack hasnβt tucked her tail between her legs and run like she always had. But maybe people do change! Unfortunately for her, the blonde wasnβt one of those people who had changed. Besides, it was way too easy and way too fun to mess with her. βHey,β she softly utters, as if getting the stafferβs attention back on her. She thumbs over her shoulder, in the direction of Hanna, βanyway. See the cute girl at that table? Tall as fuck? Sheβs picking up our tab.β The order is written down and CJ looks back over toward Jack. She slides down the bar. βOh hey, Jackie. Didnβt see you there.β The bartender sets down her glass of Makerβs Mark and CJ takes a drink of it. βHow has Delton been. Since you decided to stay and all. Thought Iβd ask.β It seemed friendly enough. It probably wouldβve been if not for the silent βwas it worth it?β tacked on. ββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ | β #1.01 WAY DOWN WE GO stuck here again β L7 p. johnson's ββββββββββββββββββββββββinteracting with: bar staff, @nodogs |
