I have actually done that before. You're all good.

Let me know if you need more to work with.

“Alright. I understand. Hold still and try to relax.”

Kassandra was acutely aware that she had not been forgiven. The ‘we can discuss this later’ made her absolutely nauseous. Her aunt used to use that line all the time, when they were in public and she wanted to save face. The ‘discussion’ that came later was usually deeply unpleasant. This was going to come back to bite her. She would be very, very surprised if Zach did not hit her back later, when they were alone. There was nothing to be done about it.

But she said she would ease the pain, and she would do it. With a subtle summon of the magic she had left, she reached out for Zach’s throat and held her fingers above it. His pain would ease off into sort of a numb feeling, a pins and needles buzzing. “That should hold you for a while, until you feel better.” With that, she rose up and went for her room slowly, keeping the illusion intact.

---

Later, she reluctantly joined the rest of the team in her casual clothing. She was wearing a short coral and white dress with soft brown gladiator sandals. She would have rather worn just the dress, but she had learned last week that humans had weird rules about shoes. Her thick curls were done up in 2 buns with little white bows, and she was running a simple illusion to turn her hair an average human black. Even her normally brilliant orange eyes were faded to brown.

This was going to be a strange sort of mission. They were basically being ordered to relax, which didn’t quite make sense to her. Evidently the ‘mall’ was some sort of giant market. She had yet to travel in a vehicle before. But she also wasn’t sure why Zach was bringing a shotgun. Was it dangerous? “I’ll take the Zeta tube, I guess.” She actually had a small weekly stipend due to being hired at the Atlantean court, so she was not without a cash supply. One of the others might have to actually count it out for her, as she wasn’t really sure what anything was going to cost.

The quicker she could get through this, the better. Hopefully this could go without incident?
@Vampiretwilight Alright cool. Just checking.
Hey @Vampiretwilight, I can't live my life playing passive women. What's the status of women with weapons in this 'verse? Because I want my character to be really good with a bow.
@Vampiretwilight Cool! Mark me down for one, please.
1. Would a princess who'd rather be a prince be viable?

If not I'll go with a different character as to not complicate your life.
What're the rules for nonbinary royalty?
The Dragonsnake rose up out of the water behind Eskel. It was several feet long, with flippers resembling wings, and a hissing mouth full of deadly fangs.

Kijani slowly went for her lightsaber, but did not ignite it. "Stay right there, Prince."

She strolled forward into the swamp as if on a nature walk. She was already a mess; a little more wouldn't hurt her.

Then she did something that would probably cause Eskel to mark her insane. "Hey, ugly! Right here!" She started to splash and wave her arms wildly, and then she waded further into the creature's territory.

Hiss! The Dragonsnake took its eyes from Eskel and locked onto Kijani, abandoning the hunt for him in its distraction. It tore after Kijani, cutting through the water like it was barely there.

Kijani fled as far from Eskel as she could manage without losing sight of him. The creature approached, and lunged forward, looking to make the Princess a tasty meal. In seconds, she'd be meat as the creature's jaws snapped around her...

Except the snap never happened. Kijani thrust her hand forward, eyes locked with the beast. She spoke to it through the Force, silently willing it to calm. The creature wavered, it's hot and smelly breath wafting over Kijani. Her eyes watered, but she did not flinch, simply continued her gentle battle of wits with the giant swamp monster.

Slowly, it turned, and sank back into the swamp. The water frothed as it descended, and then everything was still and calm again.

"...whew." Kijani exhaled, taking her hand from her saber. "I was afraid she wouldn't listen to me." She made quick tracks around the edge of the swamp and joined Eskel again.

"Okay, with that out of the way..." She did her best to gussy up her messy clothing and hair, and dipped into a proper curtsy. "Prince Eskel, I welcome you to Dagobah. Now, tell me how you found me."

Kassandra had a fleeting moment of triumph as she defeated Zach. She was ready to smile and offer him a hand up when he started to cry, and took off before she could speak.

“...oh, no.” Had she hit him too hard, perhaps? She didn’t know what could have caused him to run away in such a fashion.

Maybe her aunt was right. Maybe she was a freak, a –

No. She would not be using that word for herself.

With a sigh, she turned to watch the next battle. It seemed Kila was facing off against their teacher, Black Canary. A high honor, indeed. As she watched their battle, she grew more and more impressed. Kila was utterly graceful, and obviously well trained. What she wouldn’t give to be able to fight like that. Even with all of his skill, he still lost, but handled it in a more usual way.

Zach was probably back at the base right now, telling all the others how much of a bully she was. Her fists clenched. It was just like home. What had changed, at all? She was still the outcast, the weirdo, the odd one out here. Everyone knew it.

She could feel a despondent mood settling over her. Her stomach rumbled as she remembered she hadn’t had breakfast yet. Time to face the music, as it were. She moved with leaden steps, as if walking into the mouth of a whale.

But eventually, she did reach the base. She could hear the echo of the television as she approached the lounge. Why couldn’t the kitchen be elsewhere? Entering with slumped shoulders, she went for the pantry where she kept a selection of food for herself. Dried seaweed and sardines, that would do for breakfast.

Were the others staring, or was she just imagining the burning of eyes on the back of her neck?

She half turned, eyeing the others through her white curls. It seemed everyone was watching some strange looking show on television. Then she noticed Zach. Her stomach twisted. He looked rather awful, puffy eyed and despondent, eating a jar of… what was that again, iced cream? Talon looked to be trying to push some food onto him. She was pretty sure iced cream did not count as breakfast.

“Zach?”

She stepped up slowly, unable to meet his eyes lest she lose her courage.

“I’m sorry I hit you too hard. If you like, I can ease the pain so you feel it less while you’re healing. You’d still have to mind straining your voice.” She paused, chewing her lip. “Only if you want.” She didn’t know what else to say, and just stood there.
The post came out shorter than I wanted, but I'm not really sure what I can add to it.
