Oliver Sullivan

New Asgard
Skills:

Oliver flicnehed a bit at the invocation of his father's name. What was Raynor thinking? That felt like the equivalent of walking into a room and saying, "Hey, you should help us, this is my friend Frank, son of Adolf Hitler". Even if it was true, it wasn't the sort of thing to wave around like a flag. He wanted to retaliate in some way, to correct him and say that Thanos wasn't his father, at most he was his sire, but that sort of quibbling wouldn't help anybody right now, and it somehow didn't seem to be an issue. It was certainly something he'd yell at Raynor about later, but for now he could keep his mouth shut.

The ewxistences of Nexus's was surprising to say the least, not just the fact that the multiverse was real, but each universe apparently had a person that was fundamentally tied to that universe felt mind blowing. To him, this meant that, somehow consciousness was tied to the nature of existence. This spoke volumes about how to interpret quantum physics, and if he had time, he'd try to fold in the things he learned today to actually create a functional model of the multiverse. That was, of course, contingent on the group not dying and everything being obliterated, but what wasn't these days?

Oliver nodded, and began to recount the events that he come to pass in his vision. "Well, Doom amc Luminous were fighting, and she didn't survive the conflict. They, there was some blondie in a green claim that I think Doom killed, or otherwise ambushed?" Oli said, unsure. "After that things go downhill quickly. Felled heros, Doombots, end of all things, real apocalypse stuff." He explained, his head aching at recalling it all directly. "I guess goldylocks is our second main choice to protect in all thst, but I have no idea who that is."

As they stepped into the room, Oliver kept his mouth shut. Between Tony Stark, The Sorcereress Supreme, Thanos, and god knows who else, he was so far beyond saying anything to people who might be able to ruin his life with a thought. Let the gods play with gods, or at least have the consequences of disrespect fall on other's heads. Looking upon her, he pursed his lips, not making any smart ads comments about an ocean theme, or anything else that might reasonably get him turned into a fish, or whatever this Asgardian was all about.

Oli flinched back at the sudden intrusion into his mind. He really had to get out of the habit of speaking so causally to the walking gods of his age. As he took in all that was revealed to him, and a look of complete horror was frozen on his face. The mere idea that this could happen, that the multiverse could burn for the power fantasy of one man was vile, a kind of poison that made his stomach wretch and feel a deep and true fear. He had to stop this, this was, without a doubt, more important than anything else he'd ever done. Doom would fail, he'd see to it with all he had.

As they were spirted away to new Asgard, Oliver shook his ehad to clear it, and ground himself to the new place. This was a lot, but nothing he couldn't handle. It was also nice being probably far away from wherever his double was, they really didn't need to deal with that kind of insanity right now. For now, he simply weakly chimed in, "In what she showed me, he killed Luminuous, maybe that's the who? Maybe her dying is the thing that makes everything go so so wrong?" That was his best guess, or what he could do with the incomplete innformation he had.

Oliver turned his head as the Sorceress Supreme explained the situation and made a small "hum" noises. He piped up quickly, "Not to try to get inside the mind of two psychopaths, but why are they trying to do this?." Oliver asked. There was a reason arsonists didn't burn their own houses down, and it was because they lived there. "Presumably they don't want to destroy reality, on account of them having to continue to exist inside it and all."

Oliver really had to learn not to talk to incredibly powerful people like they were idiots, and he didn't mean offense, but it seemed like they were often either withholding information, or not sure of things themselves. This is why mission briefings were written down, over many pieces of paper, because details mattered. He knew that time was of the essence, but this seemed pertinent. Incongruities in the motivations and actions of people could be leveraged against them, and save bloodshed from occurring.

Oliver was still feeling sluggish in that awful way, and the literal demon from hell was not yet dead. Eyeing his thrown sword, he figured if it worked once, it may work again. Running over to the weapon, he felt a kind of fear he didn't normally in fights. He usually had his speed to rely on, but now he didn't. He could defend himself from ordinary people sure, but his combat skills certainly were not enough to deal with something like this. His life was in profound danger at this moment, and he tried to shove that idea far out of his head as he reached his sword and gritted his teeth.

Once more, he threw the sword towards the eye of the beast. He knew he couldn't really get too close without risking himself more, and the nice thing about lasers what that they didn't care much about force applied. His mind flahsed briefly to thoughts of star wars, and how warriors such as the jedi should prefer dexterity over strength for that reason; the weapon does all the work. When he could run, that really did make this the perfect weapon for him. As it connected, the beast exploded into non-existence, filling the air with the stench of rotting eggs. He coughed, and retrieved his sword, stowing it away.

Slow. That was exactly how Oli felt once his lifeforce had been drained out of him, and not even in the way that he'd felt when his powers had been inhibited, more like a nasuea, where parts of his body and mind knew how to, and even still were traveling fast. The incongruence made him feel sluggish and awful in a way that was difficult to describe, and all he could do was force out, "Please never do that again." as he stumbled around on feet. He looked towards the eye, intent on speeding towards it, but found himself incapable of doing so.

"You know what? Fuck it." He said, drawing the laser sword and lining up the blade with the eye. He wasn't getting up close to that thing, not when he didn't have reliable access to his powers. Instead, he would chuck a lightsaber into the eye of a massive demon, because that's what his life was now apparently. Throwing, he technically wiffed, missing his target, but found purchase on one of its tentacles, severing the appendage from the damned beast.

Oli nodded at the order form his superior; of course he was being stuck with dealing with the speedster. It only made sense, really. That being said, he fully expected for Luminous to be a more capable speedster than him, if only because she far outclassed him in experience. But was certain of one other thing, and that was that this person was a threat to Niah, somebody that she was scared of, and that meant he had no intention to hold back. Right from the getgo, he charged at the woman, ready to subdue her as quickly as possible.

As fast as he could, he tried to connect his fist to her skull, and was frustrated to see him just barely miss as she stepped aside. She was fast, he was right about that, but he had a backup plan. As his fist soared past her hard, he brought it down to go for his laser sword, only to find himself kicked and flying back. Groaning as he forced himself to his two feet, he exhaled, and said, "You know, and this is going to sound weird, this isn't the first time I've met you, the last time, a demon bear was trying to set us up as partners, can you believe that?" He sputtered outy, stalling to think of what his next move would be.

Oli took the night of sleep with a kind of glee that he hadn't experienced in awhile. For what might be the first tiem in months, he slept like a baby. It might have been the exhaustion, or it might have been the fact that, for all the horrors of this reality, he was at least moderately certain that this universe's Thanos wasn't aware of his existence, and so he, for once, didn't toss and turn over the horrors that could come to pass if his father came lookingg for him, he felt a kind of safety that he'd missed since recieving his powers.

Oli nodded at Niah, confirming his preperation. London was close, for sure, and given the small bits he knew of his counterpart, theyy'd be in danger. He didn't know if he had speed, but if he did, Oli might be their best hard counter for him. There was the solid chance that this Oli was more experienced than he was, and that deeply worried him. An Oliver than spent the last... five? Ten years? with powers and using them would be a massive danger. Evil speedsters could do damage, and he didn't wanna know what he was capable of. He nodded at Matt, and answered, "Don't trust mine either, in the event we get split up and need to check who's who, let's establish a code word, I'm in favor of "skrull"." The idea of a codeword seemed actually useful in the case of doppleganger's who couldn't copy memories, and skrull was a funny one.

Oli furrowed his brow, "I can't pretend to know their motivations, but they're two villains with, a far as I know, nothing to do with one another. If multiversal travel happens around bad people with superpowers, I'd generally assume they had something to do with it." That seemed rational to him, or at least the only path that they realistically pursue actively. He also nodded at Amelia, she had the right idea. This was what he was guessing, but once they were captured, the agents would have all their answers.

In any case, if the anomaly wasn't caused by them, it might have a root in their home, and if that was the case, the only way they could further pursue anything would be to return. He didn't like the idea of a group of kids getting sent here, or anywhere, but they had to deal with the situation as it existed. Using the people who knew were involved and the things he knew about them, he could only assume the two villains did it. "The only other possibility I can imagine is somebody in this universe discovered multiversal travel, and Doom and Luminous just happened to be caught up in it.", He posited, before sitting and seeing what the others thought of that.

Oliver was nearly joyful at the recent developments. Sure, two sociopaths that were an active threat to existence on a multiversal scale were at large, but they had food and a chance to rest, two things Oli had desperately been craving. No more broken bones, or gunfire, or being handcuffed to tables, he could just be fine and safe for a little bit. He leaned back against Niah, and smiling. This was soemthing that, once this mission was over, he could just have, and that really wasn't something he'd processed yet. He would get a very long break and that was an exciting prospect.

Oliver shrugged at the prospect of getting home, "I mean... Assuming we live-capture Doom and Luminous, home shouldn't be an issue. They got us here, they can get us home. And it's clearly possible, so I'm sure that, given enough time, we could crack it ourselves." Oliver was a confident bastard, but he also was damn smart. Besides he had a Ph.D in Theoretical... well, he supposed now applied physics. He wasn't sure if that was technically how it worked, but his reasoning at the very least was that, between all of them, they'd be smart enough to figure something out.
