NOTE: This RP is inspired by the concepts intro'ed in the anime Tiger & Bunny. In the year 2020 superhumans in the more populated areas of the world were becoming common. Some would be outcasts, others criminals, while others went to school to help society with their abilities. Two years ago Netflix and Hulu co-produced what would become a world wide phenomenon on streaming services as well as news outlets. HERO Tv showed several superpowered individuals using their powers to stop superhuman criminals in tandem with law enforcement and other local authorities. Competitors would gain more fame when big corporations wanted to sponsor the heroes' adventures and appearances. Merchandising went through the roof with toys, video games, etc.
The premise of the show would see the heroes gain points for every good deed.
Make a public appearance: 25 pts.
Save a civilian: 50 pts.
Assist other heroes and the authorities: 100 pts.
Make an arrest: 250 pts.
Arrest a superhuman badguy: 500 pts.
Save more than 10 civilians: 1000 pts.
Save more than 20 civilians: 2000 pts.
The reality tv series is based out of New York and sees the heroes compete for the title of King (or Queen) of Heroes for that season. They would be given a training facility paid for by their sponsors in season 2 and season 3 is shaping up. This year Hero Tv is only letting in the top heroes and not just those who attended the schools for superhumans. The drone cameras get everything in the field from public appearances like reading books to elementary school kids and volunteering at homeless shelters, to just riding or flying round town on patrol. The crime rate in NYC has been gradually falling ever since Hero Tv went live on streaming services around the world.
However behind the scenes, everyone would be left in the dark at how the directors approached the material and how they began to cast the last two seasons. The corporations who sponsored the heroes, and the billionaires that would purchase Netflix, Hulu, as well as ESPN had much darker secrets. And what would shock the world and the group of heroes this year? An anti-hero killing violent criminals as well as destroying any Hero Tv drones was on the loose and wanted by the authorities. In a strange twist of circumstances the general public approved of the anti-hero who boasted "people shouldn't be heroes to sell merchandise.."
What eight heroes will be seen this season? Will all of their ID's be secret and constantly concealed by masks on camera? Who's ID's will be public? Do any of the heroes happen to be millionaires and sponsor themselves? Who's freelance and without a sponsor?
For this RP I'll be looking for up to 10 players. This will include the 8 heroes featured on Hero Tv, as well as 1 anti-hero who isn't affiliated with Hero Tv (but they do get the superhuman on camera when they can to boost ratings), and a former King or Queen of Hero Tv as the new Hero Tv Daytime News anchor who will put their own voice and color commentary into the mix when it goes live on streaming services everywhere.
Things to note:
* Most heroes only have one power, though some may have a few different applications for this power.
* Heroes with tech sponsors may be outfitted with advanced exo suits to slightly increase their speed and strength, or give them basic abilities such as flight, or even a small arsenal like grappling guns, advanced melee weaponry, etc.
* Some heroes will obviously outshine others in certain areas of heroism, but that's just part of the on camera drama.
* This new season is going to be uncharted territory with several of the heroes living in the training facility, however some will have private lives away from the cameras and only the sponsors know their real names. This will be something like the MTV's 'Real World' meets 'Who Wants to Be A Superhero'.
* Freelance heroes are just that, without a sponsor. They are more careful and avoid collateral damage, because if they cause too much damage they can get kicked from the season and replaced.
* Heroes generally make $45,000 a year from Hero Tv, what they make from their sponsors and merchandising deals is between them and their sponsors and whoever gets the rights to make the merchandise.
* Once I get a feel for the cast I'll know what sort of arc I want to roll with the over arching story. Everyone will have their own individual stories and moments, and you can even make posts without your heroes being on camera. As far as enemies, who the big bad will be in the season, and the tone of the RP... that's still in developement.
