Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 33 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out last year in January (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

The cool air along the waterfront felt good as it washed her face. She stared at her reflection in the currents, seeing her form twist and morph as the waves lapped. Quinn felt this was apt. She was not some normalized figure. She contained multitudes. How does it feel to bend the whims of men? If she were an average person, that question might scare her. Show a cause for concern regarding her feelings towards her fellow humans.

Quinn was not like other people.

She was better. She was smarter. She could shape the world if she so chose, but there were rules. Laws. People like her were the bane of other people's existence. She knew it. She relished in it.

Fear was delicious. No one talked about that enough.

Sure she could use her powers for "evil", with a heavy emphasis on the quotation marks because what is evil? Evil to one is different than to another and who was any one person to decide that for the whole of humanity? So she could use it for evil, but no one talked about her use of it for "good". The underlying worry was always that she could cause real, significant harm., but never that she could be a cause for some positive change.

That was fine. The world was not black and white. There were shades of gray. Large chunks of gray, if she were being honest. A person stealing to provide for their family, as an example. A woman killing her husband who abused her relentlessly. Crimes, sure, but within reason.

That was how she felt when she influenced others. Bringing about their true intentions or showing the consequences of their actions.

Quinn bent down and picked up a rock, flinging it towards her reflection, distorting the image albeit briefly. Once it was satiated, she put on her oversized sunglasses and turned, making her way towards PRT Headquarters.

It was showtime.

Quinn came into the room and locked on the others quickly. Quinn had quickly changed into her suit and mask upon arrival. She clocked all of the others and realized she had missed some conversation. That didn't matter.

She walked in and took a seat, waiting for whatever this was to get started.

She could already tell who would be the most annoying out of all of them and made a note to herself to adjust her tone and verbiage as needed when conversing with them, if she did so at all. They were meant to work together, she assumed. It probably would not look great if she didn't at least put in some effort. After all, she was considered dangerous (they all were, sure, but it was a different kind of dangerous).

Today was going to be a long day.

It was fair to say things were going from bad to worse now that Cortez had made an appearance. He seemed to be causing their powers to run amok again considering Max's little fire show. To top it off, Cortez had dabbled in Magneto's power to send metal shrapnel at them, slicing into Perry's arms.

The dude was even trying to run away. Thankfully, Max had managed to grab onto him, but even then Cortez could just overload them. "What happened to using all our powers at once? Less talky-talky, more power use-y!" And if that wasn't bad enough, the newest addition to their little group, Robert, was screaming his head off at Magneto. Would it be bad form if she decked him too?

Perry called forth her spirits. The newest addition to her team, Mary Ellen, strode forward, launching her gravity power at Cortez, though it was hard to see if she managed to land it. Barry also attempted to shock Cortez, but it didn't have the desired effect. Even trying it again did nothing. Aggravating.

She stepped back, not wanting her powers to be controlled again and forming more alien ghosts or whatever else was roaming the halls.

Leah might have been telling the truth that she was there for them, but the fact was she still didn't want to be there for her. And that was what Sabine was trying to fix. If she could find something for Leah to enjoy here, it would make the night all the more worth it. Leah's determination to enjoy the night moved her. "All right, it's settled then. We are having the best night ever and that starts with getting some food."

Sabine grabbed both of her girlfriend's hands, one in each, before responding to Danni. "Think of it as pre-gaming. Getting the sustenance to then dance our little hearts out. We can always re-fuel up afterward. Plus, we can dance the food out before going into the haunted house so none of us lose it when they get scared!" Sabine noticed Maddie brought them some punch, though she didn't take a cup right away. That would have meant dropping her girlfriend's hands and that just wasn't happening right now. "Food then dancing, Madelyn. Let us away!"

With that, Sabine led her girls and whoever followed to the food. With quite the spread here, Sabine allowed her girls to help themselves first. It was tricky with food still. Sabine felt herself gall inwardly, before she regained her composure. "Looks good!"

Prudence warmed up to the child still. She would have been a wonderful pupil to teach had Prudence the desire to do so. To that end, Prudence had never thought about having children, biologically or otherwise. Still, now was not the time to dwell on that fact. Runa's words echoed in her mind. Maybe she was looking at this situation the wrong way. After all, she felt more powerful here than she did back home. Her Lord could not manifest here without her. She drank from the chalice and gained further strength. Perhaps there would be more to gain if she pressed on.

Before she could make it known, the annoying boy spoke up again. Prudence paid little attention to his words. It was the prattling of a man-child, nothing more. When he was done, Prudence slowly clapped her hands. "I congratulate you on your manhood finally nesting, but your words mean little when actions are what bare fruit." Jack spoke up to defend her before she could continue. Prudence felt conflicted. Having a man defend her irked her, but his words still rang true.

"There is history amongst many of you and you feel compelled to work together towards this goal. I was merely plucked from my own and dropped here, attacked, and then expected to join this crusade of yours without judgment? To many, I am an enemy, to few a hero. I do not pretend to care about whatever this fight is, but I will fight regardless. But that is my choice."

Jack had opened the portal during her mini-speech, and Prudence knew what else she must do. "And another choice I have is to claim power. Power that which I would not have seen had I not been sent here. So to that end..." As her words fell, Prudence strode forward, entering the portal to the Everdark.

Sabine felt a twinge. It could be a sixth sense, it could be she knew her girlfriend, but either way, Sabine felt something off. She knew Leah wasn't a partier. Leah wasn't as social as April or herself, and April wasn't nearly as social as Sabine was, but Leah was putting on a brave face for her, making Sabine feel warm and sad. She hated that Leah was put into this position just for them, though she was also happy she was willing to make herself uncomfortable. But this wasn't your dad's polycule relationship. People weren't just stuck in situations and had to put up with it. Boundaries would be respected and fun times would be guaranteed.

"Look Leah, it's clear you would rather be back in our room doing nothing and avoiding this whole thing altogether, and the fact you dressed up and came means the absolute world to me, but I want you to have a good time. So I am making it my goal tonight to ensure that you enjoy yourself alongside us. If you don't want to do a haunted house, we won't do one. We can all agree on something to do together here. Socialize? Dance? Stand in the corner? Doesn't matter. As long as I am with you two, this is the best dance ever."

Danni's suggestion was sweet, but she would rather not have Leah punch the daylights out of someone. "I think one thing we can all agree on is getting some refreshments and snacks. So let's fuel up for the night."

Prudence had remained silent, allowing the others to talk amongst themselves. She was growing more and more antsy. First, Runa and the young girl were having some sort of grandmotherly moment and Prudence found herself growing fond of the young girl. Klara was her name? "The young child is correct. If both of those men wronged her, she has every right to be angry. Forgiveness is for those truly deserving of such. Do not apologize, young one. Those idiots do not deserve such kindness."

Prudence eyed Jack and Max both. While Jack spoke at length about many things she knew nothing about, Max had turned to some reptilian monstrosity. A dragon in other words. She had read about such in books of fantasy and myth, but never expected to see one in the flesh. Or the scales, as it were.

Granted she also never expected to turn into a Vampyr.

"I grow weary of the conversation going back and forth. Pray tell, for what purpose should I continue to stay and help? Who is this Sorcerer Supreme and why should I care about them? Or Midgard? We are also standing here squabbling amongst each other, regailing possible plans, but I see no one taking charge and doing anything. So, what must be done and how quickly can I do it so I may return home and be rid of this ridiculous place?"

This was how it was done. The team back in action, making a plan, calling the shots, and kicking ass. Mary took the lead and Perry felt very impressed. She hadn't known her long, but Mary seemed to take to leadership very well. Perry waited, hearing Mary say what each person should do. She waited for her name, wondering what task she could do. Granted, Mary didn't know her exact powers apart from spirits, but she could be useful. Hell, she punched Cortez in the face so that was something she could fall back on.

But as Mary continued, her name never left her lips. Almost everyone else was tasked with something. It was a solid plan, sure, Perry wouldn't fault her that. Maybe she just didn't know how useful Perry could be.

Before she could speak up, Perry felt some heat which was weird considering they were in space, but soon she was thrown back with force, crashing to the side wall. She coughed, feeling her skin get hot. She glanced up to see where the source of the fire was from and, no, they were not being attacked. Max stood there, looking....guilty? Was he? He should be considering he just firebombed the lot of them. Some weren't even there anymore. "Did the others disintegrate or something?" she asked standing up, not believing that's what happened.

Ed, to his credit, used his healing ability and Perry said a silent thanks she gave up her hair. She still felt sore, but it was better. "So yeah, maybe pyrotechnics is not the way to go. We don't need more holes in the walls here."
