Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 33 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out last year in January (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Perry took some deep breaths, feeling the pain subside a bit and then a bit more. Mary seemed to be back though it was hard to say if and when Chrysi would make an appearance. Perry slowly stood up, thankful Annie was nearby and that the others were concerned for her, but it was Mary who needed their help.

"I'm fine. I'm fine." She still felt the emotions, but it was a bit easier to see. "I can help with whatever the plan is." She hoped this would go easily, but the fact she could still feel the emotions battling it out with each other led her to believe Chrysi and the Phoenix would make an appearance, and soon. She didn't want to tip her hand, but if they came out everyone needed to be ready.

Verity shook Gus' hand in return. "Verity," she said in response before they were off. Gus turned on the radio but instead of the Billboard Top 100 it was some news relating to what was going on. Verity closed her eyes at the words 'uptick in violence'. People didn't need much for them to resort to their basic instincts. Every time something happens people run to the nearest Wal-Mart and stock up on water and toilet paper (of all things). She wasn't surprised that whatever was going around was causing people to panic and hurt others.

At the end of the day, we were all but monsters.

She hoped it wasn't some superbug. But what else could it be? Her mind wandered to conspiracy theorists saying the drinking water is tainted or that the government is spreading chemicals in the air to get people to do things. She laughed to herself just as they pulled into the shop.

Verity opened the door and was about to get out when she heard the scream. She looked around and then at Flynn. "You heard that, right?" She got off the truck and, slowly and surely, made her way toward the noise.

Fleur, admittedly, did not expect anyone to react so strongly to her absence, let alone the goblin. She fought off the gut reaction to laugh in his face. "Her Highness huh? I like that. I'll have to use that in the future."

It was clear the goblin wanted a rise or a fight. She would grant him neither. "I am not here to fish. I am not here to do random tasks. I am here to learn magic to better myself. If you want to do chores, be my guest. While you all got a fish in a bucket, I managed to get a lay of the land. Our journey before got us lost, but now I know where to go. You may recall we have a lesson coming up with Teacher Ot soon so we best be off if we want to make it in time. So would you rather stand there throwing a temper tantrum or would you rather go and learn what we actually came here to learn?"

FLeur's mind wandered. After leaving before she was asked to, and she shuddered at the thought, do manual labor, she had walked around the town. Partly to distract herself from her own mind questioning if all of this was worth it and also to get a feel for the place they were in. She considered herself to be insightful, able to read feelings more so than people. With her fortune telling, she didn't need to con the person as she could actually see what was coming, but not everyone wanted to know the little details.

She watched the people walk by. A mother corralling four children all under the age of 6 by her guess, though humans were weird like that. A older dwarf was carrying huge packs of something. Many shopkeepers and merchants called out their wares to anyone close.

No one paid her much mind, which suited her just fine. She didn't feel like explaining why an elf woman was walking around in a dress and shoes that were slowly killing her. Plus she didn't trust them. Not yet, at least. She had been hurt before. She didn't need that pain again.

After a bit of a walk, Fleur made her way back to the group. It seemed they finished their work so Fleur judged it correctly. "Miss me? How did it all go?" More curious for her own benefit than actually hearing tales of fishing and whatnot. But beggars couldn't be choosers. Where was the magic in all this?

@wanderingwolf Nah that'll work. Fleur doesn't do manual labor.
Ok, I can get something up tomorrow then.

Any idea what my character would have been doing while all this was going on?
Hey all!

Let me know when a good time to jump back in is as it makes sense storywise. I don't mind waiting.

Perry followed with the others in the direction Mary was surely in. As they got closer, Perry felt an intense push inside her head. As if something in her mind wanted to break free. She could only reason that it was due to Mary's emotions and the inner turmoil and battle her two sides were having.

It was so intense Perry fell to her knees. She took some deep breaths but that didn't calm it down any. "She's battling the Phoenix force in her own mind. There's too many intense emotions going at each other. You all need to stay away from her right now. There's no chance of convincing her in this state!"

Things went from bad to worse as April, darling April, went beserk mode and sent a cyclone inside, launching a few and drenching the rest. Whatever was going on with her was more intense than anything Sabine had seen before. There was only one thing to do and Sabine hated that she had to do it.

She stood up and closed her eyes, sending her mind into April's. If she could poke around just a bit to see what caused this chaos, she could perhaps get through to April and calm her down some. As Sabine picked through the memories she noticed two were highlighted, more intense than the others, almost like they were blocking out any other memory April had. In one, Sabine saw Zelda and what she said regarding Arcade. Sabine didn't fully understand why April was hyperfocused on it. Sabine disagreed with Zelda, but could also see her point.

Sabine then went to the other memory and things started to make more sense.

It was back at the Halloween spooky maze. Sabine only remembered what she saw but now she saw it through April's eyes. April looking at a helmet. Upon closer inspection, Sabine noticed it was Magnetos's. And not only that, but April was wearing it, as if confirming her acceptance of the heritage she had, the blood in her veins. And all of that swirled into a mixture of intense fear and worry.

Not only that, but Sabine was able to put two and two together. April saw Sabine literally shift Arcade's mind. A villain changing in an instant, regret on his face. Combined with April's worry over her becoming a villain herself due to her family, of course she would be scared. Woulld Sabine have to shift April's mind in the future?

Sabine unleashed herself out of April's mind. She knew she had to join Leah and bring April back down. Leah had paved the way somewhat so Sabine tried to climb through the swirling waters only to be blasted back, slamming against the computer set up. She groaned in pain, but stood up. She tried again, barely getting through until she reached April and Leah.

Sabine looked into April's eyes as best she could. She needed to see her so she knew the words that followed were meant.

"April, I get it. I get it now and I am sorry I didn't see it before. You're scared. You're worried about your family and the heritage you share and you saw me alter Arcade's memory to make him regret what he did and that worried you. We are not our family. They may give us life, but that life is ours to take and change and shift into what we want. Their influence may exist, but that is why we fight back. That is why we find each other and form our own family. You are not your family in the same way I am not mine and Leah is not her's. I am sorry for scaring you but I need you to come back to us. We'll get through this and all things coming together."

Verity followed the two men out, periodically checking her phone for texts or updates on what was going on. Her mind wandered to her ex-husband briefly and she debated calling him to see if he was okay. She opted not to. He lost that right when he cheated on her. She hoped it was some illness going around and he and his new girlfriend caught it.

She smiled when the man offered her the front seat, moving that 100-watt smile over to Flynn. "How generous. Thank you. Looks like chivalry isn't dead just yet." Perhaps a poor choice of words given what happened inside, but she let it slide and got into the vehicle's front seat. Once she got comfortable she put her seatbelt on and checked her phone one last time. She was ready for this day to be over and it was still morning. Perhaps when she got home she would take a long bath and catch up on some shows she had been putting off, let whatever was happening run off.
